Mine is not :crying:
- Scrolling/Swiping speed = better
- Broke support for embedded flash videos (Flash menues/buttons work...you can test it on southparkstudios.com / southpark.de --> Episodes ). Videos are just black.
- I miss the old universal inbox...
- I miss the old social network app...
- Battery-Life is the same or a bit better with ICS
- Browser is better...
I would love to return to GB...but as we have a locked bootloader (by the way: thanks Motorola ) I can't.

as long as I am running this update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755764 the ics is more than awsome....

So you mean one of the few threads that is not complaining about ics? Because we have a ton of those right? This is an OPEN forum, if the op wants to tell everyone how much he likes the update let him. Sorry he isn't complaining, would that have been an acceptable thread to start?

A... positive thread about ICS?
Noooo.
No way.
These don't exist.
Everyone needs to complain about the locked bootloader, battery performance, and bloatware they miss!!
I've experienced nothing but awesome from ICS, the phone is better in every way. As a coder the difference between GB and ICS behind the scenes is monumental. I have no idea why anyone would want to revert back to it nor "avoid the OTA".
Positive threads should be allowed, endless complaining threads should

Yes, the browser is light years faster.
The phone is faster/smoother no lag whatsoever. The apps also launch faster than GB.
ICS is beautiful compared to GB and i have not experienced any compatible issues with games at all. Everything runs fine.
The only thing i miss is flash.
Did anyone miss not being able to launch the camera from the lock screen if you have a PIN set? BTW, I'm on official ICS OTA with no ROMs.

Not awesome!!
No flash = definitely NOT AWESOME!! Battery life is worse then on GB also! And I'm referring to people that actually use their phone, I'm tired of seeing those screen shots of people showing 70% after like 21hrs, that's a phone that hasn't been touched all day! My phone is at 40% by 11am, on GB i would get it to last at least till 3 or 4pm.
We have definitely taken 3 steps in the WRONG DIRECTION! Something basic s flash?? Seriously! We're no better than an iPhone now! I'm so pissed!!
Horrible battery!
This was with MODERATE use this morning! Even my old Evo did better than that a year and a half ago. I'm so disappointed in ICS!!

Yes, my ICS is awesome. I was going to wait for the official ICS but I got tired of waiting so I flashed some Fast Boot files. Pretty glad I did too!
Yes love it. Running aosp .214 ICS Custom rom... But angry because tether no longer works. Sucks but I have to have tether. Not sure what to do. Foxfi doesn't work neither does the hack. I give up. Guess Verizon finally found a way to stop it. Maybe thats why it took so long to release. Lol. Overall I love it just not as open and more locked down. Kinda worries me what may come...

I have a Rezound and love it except for the battery life. Verizon is offering me a Certified Pre-owned phone of my choice without signing a contract. The Bionic looks like the best one available, for $149.99. It uses the same size 4G sim card as my Rez? I can just swap back and forth if so. Would this be a solid backup phone? It has a couple cool things like a dedicated hdmi port and the lap dock option. Worth the buck fifty?

It has had some updates to fix some of the issues, my suggestion would be to check the bionic forums and see how people feel it is working now. So how did you work that out to get offered another phone without contract plus keep the Rezound ? Curious, because I would love to have another phone to mess around with myself
I bought the Rez used, and the Verizon rep put insurance on my account when he activated my sim card. Turns out that is not an option for used phones, so I whined and moaned about not having a warranty on a 3 month old phone, and they offered me the CPO device. I can use it whenever, too! Might just wait for a Nexus to show up and sell it

Had the Bionic for 6 hours before returning it for the Rezound. Wasn't impressed at all. Plus, I thought I read the Bionic went on sale for $99 today. Still wouldn't buy it.
The Bionic is garbage. I mean, its plenty fast, but the screen is very washed out, and the camera is just sooooo bad. Plus I really hated the shape of the thing. It was uncomfortable to talk on for more than a couple minutes, and even uncomfortable to hold for long periods. Why anyone would put sharp edges on a phone is beyond me!

What kind of onscreen uptime is everyone getting? not standby mixed with usage, just display on uptime ?
Right now I'm at 67% after about three and one-half hours. I will stay on and post a screenshot as I approach 0%. Wifi always on... in the meantime, my advice is: go out and buy the sgs2. It's freakin phenomenal.

Get the HTC One X!
Wait for the Galaxy S III, it's going to completely rape everything. If you can, just buy a cheap off-contract S2 on craigslist.
here ya go
This shows 100%-2% with screen a hair under 50% brightness. Keep in mind, my (stock) firmware has known battery issues. I'll be much better off after root and a couple of tweaks. If you don't have yours yet, get it now! Or, at least, take your phone and hold it in one hand and hold a sgs2 in the other. The screen blows you away and the performance will amaze, even on a carrier-crippled unit. You'll buy the sgs2, guaranteed. And then, you can mod the thing however you want.
If you wait for sgs3, you might as well wait for jelly bean, or Klondike bar or lemon merange pie, IMHO. HTC? Huh?

UnNamed 1.3.2 is probably the best 2.3.4 at the moment.
actually, one important question, if i downgrade to 2.3.4 using zedomax method would that effect flash counter? or should i just update to UCKH7-CL503881 <- assuming thats the latest stock att rom? Im trying to avoid UCKK6 battery drain if the phone come with that firmware.

I disagree I went from the Skyrocket and my Note was a lot slower and really laggy. I just swapped my Note for another one today and WOW this new one I got today is totally different. It is just as smooth and fast as my Skyrocket. If anybody is having performance issues you need to get it swapped out ASAP you will wish you had sooner.

I also came from the Skyrocket and initially thought the Note was fast. Than I came on Xda and alot of user were reporting on how slow their phones were. Than I started noticing lag every where. Now after not thinking about it for awhile I dont notice the lag anymore. So my point is that by others saying how bad it was I started seeing the same0, whether it was there or not.

I have the note, although it is the international version.
When I first got it, it had just a little lag here and there. I don't use touchwiz, I use go launcher. I've had 4 updates, now at 2.36, LB2 and this last update (got it Thursday night) made this thing smooth with ZERO lag. Even scrolling apps in the app drawer, which, would lag for maybe 1-2 flips, then smooth out, is smooth as
silk with zero lag.
I lost root some time back, so it isn't a root issue, but perhaps on the at&t version it has to do with the bloat apps that run all the time?

okay not bashing here so dont take this wrong but I'm just trying to wrap my head around this statement, so you pay $300+ for your device but dont expect stock ROM performance to be any good?...seriously? I dont understand why someone wouldn't of course, and if it did underperform (mine runs fine) as a consumer you have every right to take it back. I think alot of people lose sight of the fact that it's still a PHONE that can now do amazing things that you would not have had the luxury of just a few short years back. And granted, the awesome development we enjoy through these forums does improve quality and enjoyment value of these devices to the point of maybe spoiling us as advanced users, but remember the vast majority of consumers of these devices are typical users and to them (and me) the Note on GB/Touchwiz although not a perfect machine is still an amazing device right "out of the box".

It is an amazing device but the Carrier$ load it down with u$ele$$ and unnece$$ary $oftware to $queeze more money from you. In the process the Bloatware DOES in fact hinder the performance as they run even when you don't launch them yourself. By getting rid of the bloatware you are unleashing the true potential of this beast of a phone.
Think of it this way... If you bought say a Subaru WRX STi and when you went to go pick it up and it had a bunch of useless Car Dealer stickons and random crap that hindered the performance, you are saying you wouldn't be upset ?

Very true. I'd probably be using an iphone if it weren't for the DEVs here. Sad that we need them to unlock the full potential of our devices. We also get better support from them than the companies that make them. A great example of that is the HP Touchpad.
Support your local DEVs. I do so by adding to their beer/coffee funds. Coffee is better as it keeps them up longer to work on things

Hah thanks for the laugh xD
Anyway, I should have worded that differently: "Have you flashed a ROM that helps with the multitasking issue".
Most of them do, but if you don't want to flash a ROM some people reported that if you change the setting within developer options to 'At most 4 processes' for the background process limit it helps alleviate this issue.
This is by far my biggest problem with this phone. From what I've heard, stock ICS doesn't have the same issue.
Yeah, it pisses me off when I scroll through a list and go out of the window, ONLY to have that damn list reload back to the first item.
There HAS to be a way to get rid of that permanently if stock ICS phones don't have this problem?
Yeah, the multitasking is the only issue I have with this phone. Reminds me of the fail WP7 has with multitasking :/
Yeah a lot of the issues with this phone can only be alleviated through rooting it and flashing a custom rom. As I stated in another thread with my opinions of this phone and the pros/cons, this phone requires the user to root it in order to have a pleasurable experience.

Which is really disappointing. We shouldn't have to root in order to get things like this to work properly. If HTC is going to place a button dedicated to a specific function on their phones, you'd think that function would actually work.

No one is arguing against it, we are merely providing solutions to the problem. Furthermore, if we want to nitpick the button isn't a 'multitasking' one, it simply brings up a recent apps list. That being said I do hope HTC fixes this. It seems to affect all the Sense 4.0 phones. I know the One X has this problem by simply looking at their forum and from what I tested the One S at T-Mobile while helping my parents get a new phone, it seems that the S also has the same problem.
Rooting and flashing roms hasn't fixed my multitasking issues..I think its a deeper sense issue..I've manually adjusted min free settings with no luck..so Im assuming that its Kernel related buried deep..its my only gripe with this otherwise perfect device..and some people actually like its killing of apps..although it doesn't seem to free up any extra ram ...edit - hasn't the issue been resolved with the att hox with an ota? I thought I saw that somewhere
Yep rooted and romed. I dont want to say which one because u don't think it matters. Non of it would bother me so much if my new phone wasn't slower than my old one. Kinda sucks to have full signal but can't load a Page, stick it in my pocket it becomes a hand warmer and the battery is dead next time I use it.

The worst is when I play Sega's Sonic Adventure app or open up stumble upon and every single time I go back to the home screen, sense has to reload. I've never experienced that with my Xoom.
Are the ROMs effective at fixing the multitasking issue? That, ps3 bluetooth, and otg support would be the only major reasons I'd root my phone (maybe titanium backup too for contingency). I'm not root shy, my OG EVO was rooted two weeks after I got it, but, in the long run, everything seems more consistent when running completely stock, and I can pretty much find an app for everything I need.
Also, do you guys think that if we send in enough complaints that HTC would get its act together for the jelly bean update?

Yep rooted and romed. I dont want to say which one because u don't think it matters. Non of it would bother me so much if my new phone wasn't slower than my old one. Kinda sucks to have full signal but can't load a Page, stick it in my pocket it becomes a hand warmer and the battery is dead next time I use it.

Return it, get a Gnex on Verizon. Problem solved.
I'll also have to agree that rooting and. A custom rom still don't do much to alleviate the issue. Chrome still reloads every time I come back. It's baffling because we can blame it on sense, but sense has ALWAYS been bloated, but the evos before this didn't have such an issue. I was saying I didn't want a gsiii, but this may push me to get one

I don't find sense 4 very bloated at all actually. When sense 4 was ported over to the Sensation, it didn't have this multitasking issue, which is leading me to believe that there will be a fix soon for it.
Installed the official CM9 two nights ago and I really can't find anything more than nitpicking at this point. Sure the home screen transition is still not quite as smooth as my wife's iPhone 4, but it is smooth enough and all the apps/games I have tried are fast enough, battery life is also incredible as I got over 4 hours screen time on wifi for my first full charge.
I have compared my device against Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, and there is no question the performance difference at this point is not worth the extra screen size to me. It is really amazing what a cohesive (no touchwiz dialer + ICS task manager mesh mash, CM9 is completely refined!) and bloat free experience CM9 is. Even the official ICS ROM after de-bloating still has too many Samsung applications for my taste.
More importantly, mobile phone applications are not desktop programs, you are not going to run Photoshop or Visual Studio on your Galaxy Note, you are not likely to play Crisis. I really believe dual core for mobile phone is very very similar to core 2 duo on desktops, that once you reach a certain level of performance, you just don't need any more upgrades. My wife and I both have 5 year old core 2 duo's and with a very modest Nvidia 9600 GT, I can still play most if not all of the mainstream games. Sure I can't play them at highest graphic details, but I can still enjoy Skyrim or Diablo 3.
I think the exact scenario is happening to mobile devices. All the top apps/games have to cater to the lowest common denominator, unless you are super hardcore, you will be satisfied. In the past people had to upgrade for performance, but I don't think it is the case anymore. I will wait out the full two year contract and pick up Note 2 when it is on sale for a discount, unless there is a hardware failure. And I think manufacturers will also see the same problem, that it will be harder and harder to get existing users to upgrade.
A big thank you to the developers! The Cyanogen team is amazing!
Im gonna be flashing tomorrow cm9 cant wait

Ya, cm has always been nice. They usually have that extra bit of polish and professionalism. Aokp is decent too.
As far as buying new devices, there will always be people wanting to upgrade to the latest and greatest even if what they have is still completely adequate. Being an EE technology major, I'm one of those people who will buy new stuff just because I love technology. And Moore's law says it will keep getting better lol. If I can ever get a fng job, I'll definitely buy the note 2 if its awesome enough.
Everyone has computers, but most people never upgrade them to keep up with the times, they wait til they've crippled it after a few years then buy a new one. I've gotten so many nice computers that were "broken" from people, only to open them up, clean them out, reinstall whatever os I need and have it be perfectly fine for years. Usually just a fan or seating issue with some hardware.
Sidetracked, sorry.

I also fell in love with my device again. It is much faster with CM9 and I don't need anything more. The OC kernel makes it fly. I can't make it lag. Transitions are buttery smooth. I can't wait until JB or CM10. A whole new device with touchwiz gone. Don't even miss the s pen

What's your brightness level on?
After debloating and installing trebuchet launcher, I think stock runs just as well as cm9

Upgraded last night after a clean wipe. I like it save for I cannot uninstall ROM manager, and I can't run soft keys. Other than that you couldn't pay me to keep it. I'll be moving to the iPhone 5 and the Note 2 as fast as I can. I absolutely despise the old style hard keys. They are a crime against humanity and must be removed in the Note 2. Full screen or death!!
where is official cm9?

I saw this thread regarding CM9, but it looks like they only have beta-ish nightlies available. Haven't tried them myself.
I installed h0tw1r3's CM9 based ROM (here) and it is really beautiful.
I wanted to add that I completely agree with OP. This is my first Android phone, and I knew the power of custom ROM's in the past from using Windows Mobile 5/6. I tried several that were all pretty nice, but coming across the CM9 ROM, I feel like it really lives up to the hype. Gorgeous, polished, fast as hell!
Thanks to CM team and XDA, you guys rock.
Yeah I was under the impression that there was nothing official yet.

So is cm9 ics with OC kernel?
They still haven't done audio through USB yet have they?

I am always amazed at how CM9 has the extra little touches that make a phone really work optimally like wake on volume, put screen to sleep[in notification pull down], included toggles, etc. For some reason unknown to me other ROM developers never include most of these but IMHO they make the Note really useful.
So why is there nothing on their website if this is official? Not a final release?
Also, does the cm team run on donations just like must devs?

I think CM9 is not ready for prime time on the note. Checking the use internal SD in the storage setting forces it into a boot loop. Definely will have to wait until fixed. This is for the 7-16 nightly.
I love cm9 too.. Very fast and smooth no lag only had one little bump so far.. I run cm9 on my note and my galaxy tab 2
I would love to use cm9 but im an avid user of bell mobile tv. If there is a way to get both, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Just delete the rom manager app inside the zip before flash and there you go, no more ROM manager.. are you kidding?! why waste perfect screen real estate for emulated keys? Sure the screen could go all the way to the bottom without any hard keys but unless they create a screen with a built in speaker there will always be a space at the top of the phone for that and they balanced the look of the phone by centering the screen AND including keys so that 100% of the LCD is usable. Go get in line with the sheep for that iPhone and sell your note to someone more appreciative of a fully customizable phone
