right i was doing some benchmarking of the new firmware (2.3.20) and i clicked system information in quadrant and at the botom under sensors it states an accelerometer, archos compass and archos magnetic field. does anyone have any idea on how and where these are used? thankyou for your help
These captor are virtual, simulated for Android to work, that's all ^^
ah dissapointing :/ thankyou for you help
Unfortunately, none of the Archos Gen8 devices have magnetic compass/gps capabilities (I think you can install a bluetooth one though). I was pretty disappointed when I found out why the metal detector app wasn't working.
Yes, bluetooth GPSs work fine - I use one, but I don't think any of them include a compass, unfortunately. Google sky maps would be awesome on a tablet.
When you start Sensor List and put near device strong magnet - compass data begin change ...
i get readings from the compass using the sensor list app, nothing from the magnetic field though :/
I get no change moving a strong magnet all over my 101.
But they are sending some of the accelerometer data to the simulated compass for some reason. Probably useless.
Hi ,
After porting ICS, derived sensors are not working.when i browse through SensorService code, i found that in ICS derived sensor data is computed only if accelerometer, magnetometer and gyro are present.I dont have gyro in my device.
Is this the reason for failure?
Does any one has faced such kind of problem? if so can you please help me. please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Sensors like Rotation-Vector require both an accelerometer as well as a gyroscope hardware to be present on the device.
With ONLY Accelerometer h/w on your device, you will get :
- accelerometer
- linear acceleration
Hi guys, I just want to ask why my magnetic compass suddenly stop/off working after porting a rom to my device
Hi,
I just flashed the software on my Archos 50 Helium to be able to play Pokémon Go. I now have CM11 based on Android 4.4 KitKat installed but the sensors don't seem to work. Via the app GPS Status & Toolkit I was able to discover that the GPS is recognized but can't connect to satellites.
All the other sensors: gyroscope, linear acceleration light sensor, proximity sensor don't seem to work.
Magnetic fields sensor detects the fields, but I don't know if that's enough to declare it working.
Everything was working fine on stock ROM.
I only need to upgrade to KitKat and since Archos doesn't provide an upgrade for my phone I was forced to manually flash it. If you know a solution or another way to get KitKat, please share.
Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a Moto E (3rd generation).
There's no gyroscope and compass built it. So does the navigation work properly?
Not sure if this is the right forum. Please excuse me if it's not.
Cheers,
