SGS2 GT-i9210 - Development - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
this is the international version of the same US (skyrocket, i727), AUS (Telstra i9210T) and korean version.
so i sucessfully got ics running on my gt-i9210 (Portugal) with that nightly rom on cm9 for skyrocket.
There was indeed the problem with the softkeys, but i solved that updating the touch keys to an older version.
So far the rom is nice, i'm wondering if anyone tried another ics rom for this device and looking for some feedback
thanks in advance

GT-i9210 / ICS ans Soft keys issue
Hello,
I'm very interesting in the way you follow to restore soft keys...
In fact, my soft keys disappeared when trying to root may GT-i9210 (from sweden), using CWM7...
I was said that, probably, flashing with ICS should solve that issue but at this moment, no official ICS is released for GT-i9210...
May you please explain the detail procedure to restore old soft keys release ?
Best regards

i followed some guides on a portuguese forum about android.
I will give the links, just use google translate to check the how to's.
this link show you, how to root the i9210:
http://www.androidpt.com/index.php?/topic/29575-root-e-unroot-samsung-galaxy-s2-lte-gt-i9210/
this one is a how-to get touch CWM on i9210 (needed for the cm9 installation):
http://www.androidpt.com/index.php?/topic/31754-touch-clockworkmod-recovery-para-sii-lte/
this one is a how-to for the installation for cm9 nightly (skyrocket one)
http://www.androidpt.com/index.php?/topic/31755-cyanogenmod-9-para-sii-lte/
last one is a how-to get the soft touch keys working again on i9210. there is a swedish how to in there, and there is another solution that worked for some.
http://www.androidpt.com/index.php?/topic/30987-softkeys-deixaram-de-funcionar/
so think there are no ics roms yet for this device.
officially they said that july was the month for the international version roll out...let's wait.

Did you get the soft keys working on ICS? If so post how you did it! I can't find how to update the keys as *#*#2663#*#* doesn't seem to work

Take a look on these links I posted before
Sent from my GT-I9210 using Tapatalk 2

I did read those links and can't see that anyone had the soft keys working on ICS. I installed the ROM and couldn't get the keys to work hence my question. Along the soft keys not working I found if i tried to make or receive a call i would get no sound and the call would then drop out. Do you actually have ICS running on your phone as it should?

Well, try to get the last skyrocket ics nightly. nightlys are buggy so sometimes some roms are not so good. When I tried I got soft keys working following that guide downgrading the version of the keys. Now I'm with the stock 2.3.6 rom waiting for the ics launch of this model here in Portugal. I heard that would be released this month so... Just waiting

ok thanks, that makes more sense now

any new ICS rom or stock one for this device?
or JB?
i noticed that some people are already using CM10 (unofficial) on i9210 from australia (i9210T).

Just got one from a friend to play with.
For what i just know there's this ICS from Sweden but no PT ICS, only GB, for both TMN and Vodafone.

Hi all,
Any news about ICS or JB official in Portugal (or from anywhere I can use)? Kyes says my 2.3.6 is the most recent!

Hows that for ya?
Very Close But Not The Same.
I Don't know how to change an "OFFICIAL Shipped ROM" and keep it official if you do let me know and we can make some money!!!!!
......................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Its Not the Same ROM So please Stop Trolling or I will Ask Dave Shaw to Shut You Down.
I don't see GB=(GREAT BRITAIN) Listed On The Official HTC Website As A Country All I See Is United Kingdom=(UK)
So Im Not Sure your GB ROM ZIP File is Official, The UK ROM I Uploaded However is an Official RUU .EXE
I'm not going to waste time arguing anymore if you want it download it if you don't then that's your affair, These however are not the same ROM'S
Why put an official in a zip?
Oh because yours is a dump ROM right and The one I posted is an "OFFICIAL" RUU.exe wm6.5 Update
No disrespect DaveyNavy - but BeeGee is a well respected member of this forum and has been compiling all of the custom and official roms on his own file mirror.
His questions as to what exactly your file is - are totally valid - and I think you should be a little more tollerant in your replies.
I had the official UK TD2 rom which was the UK one - as an update from T-mobile - but I am pretty sure it is identical to the dumped GB rom that BeeGee pointed out.
On an official UK T-Mobile device - you can use the update RUU that DaveyNavy posted without needing the HardSPL since it is an official update for a locked offical device.
Once you have HardSPL'd your device (and basically what the majority of us on this board have done) it therefore doesnt matter whether you use either.
I hope this helps.

You need the Cooper_v1.0.ops and then enable one package. Afterwards select the zip in one package.
You can download everything here.
Note that you have to extract the first zip folder until there's only one zip left which is called S5830XWKPN_S5830XWKP6_S5830OXXKP7_HOME

Can I do it on my phone? Thanks!
When ever I try to flash from GB to GB - i get a bootloop. I suggest you go back to froyo and then to KPN.
I had KPH installed - went back to froyo - upgraded to KPN then installed CW4.0.0.9 and flashed FlashX2 then X2.2.
The phone is behaving beautifully and I dont get any of the reported problems with SOD.
Good luck with your endeavours.
@Baracs
May you tell me what froyo firmware you used (or a link perhaps will be of much help). I am afraid to brick this phone. So that I can follow the same path as you did. I hope you would tell me.
Thanks

You have to be registered to enter it - but thats easy.
Then navigate to the asia section and compare the codes of your phone against the codes of the files there.
This seems to be the main repository of files.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tip. I bricked my phone 3 times. And now I am running Fla.sh x2.3
I have had 2 motorola and was waiting to upgrade to atrix in 4 months and decided to buy a galaxy ace. Went to buy it PAYG on 3 but the shop did not have any in stock.
They sold me a unlocked phone for £175.00 and Im loving it.
Motorola when bricked are hard to get back - samsungs are dead easy(no pun intended). I also have bricked it 3 times - I had it rooted within 30 minutes of buying it and KPH within the hour.
Glad to be of help.
here is a Quadrant Score benchmark.
[1]XXKPH running CodeRom V2x-2b and [2]XXKPN running Fl.ash x2.3

Same problem with bootloop, but flashing a second time always fixed it .
Any SOD experience on Fla.sh x2.3? If yes, how to revert back to 2.2? Thanks!
just reflash the main file and the 2.2 update using CWM recovery.
I did not have SOD with 2.3 just lost the APN settings - but 2.2 is working a dream for me and my quadrant score is 1501 so very happy.

Need Help: Updating To AsiaRetail ICS from Asiaretail GB rom

Hello Guys,
I am not sure if it is allowed to make a new thread for noob questions.
Well, I just got my new Razr Maxx, It is on 65.1.40.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03 rom.
Rooted and everything. I was trying to update with the 673.94.324.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03 rom, given in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757766
As I am running the AsiaRetail rom, direct update through stock recovery should have worked, but it is giving me this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is there any way I can solve this?
Thanks a ton in advance.
Any help will be appreciated.
I may be wrong on this,
But I believe that with the leaked OTA updates, you must have your phone unrooted and attempt to flash it using the stock moto recovery, not CWM.
Hopefully this helps....I am far off being an expert, but that would be my first point of call.

I tried it yesterday. Didn't work. I also tried resetting to factory settings and do the OTA. Didn't work either. But thanks anyway.
I don't know what's the problem. Considering I am on Asiaretail ... same rom for GB ... it should have been possible.
Any experts? or any one who faced the same thing?
I think you have to unroot the device and then flash the ics via recovery. I may be wrong though. I am in the same situation right now and have been reading on this for a little while. I haven't tried yet since i know Motorola's brick easily.
Device of mass distraction

I had the exact same problem. Tore my hair out. I did this -
Flashed the fastboot files via RSD lite that was there in the AsiaRetail ICS OTA thread.
BUT
That flash is a PSHAsiaRetail version.
Go to the PSHAsiaRetail thread. Download that and update using that. Went through without a hitch. I was getting really frustrated when using all the files from the AsiaRetail thread, I was getting the same error, till I booted my new fastboot flashed ROM and saw that it was PSHAsiaRetail.
I might be wrong - but this is what worked for me. I must also mention, that my APN was not loading up automatically and I had to input it manually.
I have since then, flashed the EU ICS fastboot and thats working pretty snazzy for now!
Hey greyanaroth ... thanks a ton!! ...
I appreciate it!!
This really worked ...
I don't know why!! .. But it worked!!
Thanks for your help to get me ICS!!
No worries! Glad I could help.
BTW - for some reason, this build gave me a few problems - mobile network not working straight off the bat, for one - had to configure an APN for my network manually.
Unless you're attached to the Asia build (no reason for you to, as far as I've been able to deduce), might I reccomend flashing the EU ICS fastboot - it's running a lot better for me for some reason!

[Q] How to install Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on Samsung Galaxy S 2 i9100

I tried searching the forum, found a lot of useful information but need to know my options are like which ROM is better / more stable etc and which one works in my case. Also I would like to know which option is best for me because I just bought a phone which I think is already rooted.
Please see the attached picture of my phone.
I just need advise so that I don't end up installing something in-compatible or something and end up bricking my phone.
Please advise or guide me in a right direction which steps or tutorial to follow to install jelly bean 4.1.1 on my i9100 ?

You're on siyah kernel. If you wish to keep your current kernel, you can install a cm10 rom released before 02 oct or JB ROM that hasn't used the latest mali drivers since siyah hasn't incorporated those yet.
The good news is you won't hard brick your phone..siyah is a safe kernel.
Look around the various ROM threads in the android development section, see if one catches your fancy and enquire if its compatible with siyah..since recommending ROMs goes against forum rules.
Also, most ROMs will include a kernel installation while installing them. Long story short, if you aren't insistent on keeping your current kernel you can flash pretty much any JB ROM built for the i9100. Be careful not to install any ROM for a different variant of the phone.
If you have any questions you can ask here or feel free to PM me.

Siyah isn't a ROM, its a kernel. What you've posted are both ROMs. The first will run on your current kernel, the second will install the CM kernel. So you can try either one of the two. Look through at least the last couple of pages and see what others think on both forums. That might give you a better idea if its right for you. Else you can always flash the other one.
Good luck!

So based on the step to go in to recovery mode:
"Reboot into CWM Recovery mode by pressing Vol Up + Home + Power button (Release only power button when you see Samsung logo)"
I am doing this but I only see samsung logo with i9100 and it goes away then comes back in 5 sec then goes and comes back again... tried several time but cannot go into recovery mode, why ?

[Q] How do I return back to complete stock?

I just got an SII used that came with CM 10.1, I would like to return it back to complete stock to see what the vanilla experience is like.
I'm coming from a MT4G and I avidly flashed roms/kernels and rooted it myself.
So, What exactly do I need to get this back to stock and able to receive OTA T-Mobile updates to get ready for the Jellybean update coming through soon?
Thanks!
I'd be tempted to wait until you have confirmation that JB has been released for your device.....once you have that confirmation, you can directly flash it to your phone with odin rather than wait for an OTA update. The reason being.....
You don't want to go anywhere near 4.0.4 (search emmc brickbug for the why). I'm sure you can flash 4.0.3 and return the phone to stock that way, but then you have the danger that your carrier will OTA you to 4.0.4 if you return to stock before JB is released....and as I mentioned before....you don't want to go there.....
Sent from my rooted, de bloated, stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and XDA developers app
Good advice indeed. Reading about that right now. They say November for JB, so that's not too far away. I could just chill with CM or something else in the meantime.
What would you recommend aside from CM for a jellybean rom on this phone as well as a kernel? Or just stay with CM?
What's the deal with this saying it's already out? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226886 http://android.sc/update-samsung-galaxy-s2-to-official-jelly-bean-4-1-2-xwlsj-os/
T-Mobile even says: Beginning April 8, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T989UVMC6 via Samsung Kies only. This update changes the OS to Jelly Bean.
I'm assumung you have the international version of the I9100? That being the case....Official JB IS available.....it's what I'm using. ....
Sent from my rooted, de bloated, stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and XDA developers app
I really have no idea, I didn't get it yet
It should be a T-mobile branded North American version. Not sure yet.
So basically even with CM on it already, I can just hook it up and use Kies to flash it to the T-mobile update with no other issues?
No....you have a custom rom installed....kies won't recognise the phone.....
You say it's a north American t mobile unit? It's likely to be this....

The T989 has it's own forum....might be a good idea to look for help over there....unless someone here owns both devices, folks here won't really be able to help.....
