I use my phone at work to listen to Pandora and TuneIn a lot, but one day it started stuttering so bad I could no longer use them.
For example, with Pandora, when I start the app it'll say "Loading" or "Buffering 1%" then skip to the next song.. and skip to the next song, and so on. When listening to TuneIn is plays for a bit, then buffers, stops, plays, stops plays, enough to pretty much be un-listenable.
Now I've tried everything, re-provisioned, factory wiped, even installed a whole new ROM (MeanICS) and it still does this. I've wiped and re-installed the applications, still a no go.
Ran SpeedTest multiple times and everything seems fine. Anyone have a clue as to what in the world is going on?
I blame the network. I don't know what the hell is going on, but I have had more issues with the data on this phone than I have on my old phone. I've talked to Sprint about it and they offer zero help on the issue. I also can't get "Roam only" to work on my phone, so I've been trying to rotate songs through my SD card.
Network issues try a profile.and prl update
Hit the thanks button if i helped
I've experienced this a few times while downloading apps or surfing the web. At times it flies and other times it just crawls. My reception is always 4 or 5 bars and asking Sprint why something isn't working is like pulling teeth.

yea man i do that to and i love google music and when im on 3g it keeps on loading so i keep songs on my sd card also but sometimes google play works on a 3g network. hopefully LTE works alot better.
The nice thing about Google Music is the offline cache, it decreases the pauses when I'm switching between no signal/1x/EVDO. Unfortunately it isn't as helpful when you're mostly without a signal.

I am a noob to the rooting experience and this site, however i have successfully rooted my Droid X2 via Gingerbreak and explored some of the advantages of rooting. The only thing that I miss from my previous Iphone is Pandora. Pandora plays very slow on my android phones. Is this normal? and has anyone found a way to make it better?

Could you define slow? Does it stutter, quit, skip, buffer for too long?
I use it on my Droid X2 now and it seems fine. Is your experience the same on Wifi and 3G?
Slow - meaning it takes 5x longer to load on any android phone I have had than an Iphone and in between songs it pauses for about 30 - 40 seconds
For me it has been very variable. Some days it's quick and some days it seems to take forever. Was your iphone on AT&T and Verizon? Have you tried it while on Wi-Fi?
I missed the last part asking about 3g vs wifi.
This is mainly on wifi but it seems to be the exact same on 3g

You could try clearing data of the app and see it that cleans it out. Especially on Wifi, mine goes to the next song immediately.
Slacker Is Basically The Same Thing Except It Allows You To Cache A Station So If You Lose Service You Don't Lose Radio Station.
No issues like that. It was acting up alot, not loading songs at all, etc. Cleared data/cache/etc in applications menu and uninstalled/reinstalled. been fine since. Give that a go.
Pandora take 1-3 minutes to load and play next song
Hey, I tried everything:
Uninstall/Re-install
Clear cache
Battery pull
Return to stock and re-jailbreak
Nothing works.
Issues:
Pandora on load can take from 1-3 minutes to start the first song
On either skip or end of song Pandora can take 1-5 minutes to load the next song
Intermittently stops playing a song and attempts to load the next song (can take 1-3 minutes to load).
Notes:
Issues happen on 3G and Wifi
Supercharger not installed
Not location based - happens when driving, at home, work or anywhere.
Uninstalled LauncherPro Plus to help with battery life (too many widgets and it was killing my battery <10hrs).

Wow!!! Sorry, but I'm out of ideas.
Droid X2 here. Got it maybe two weeks ago. My previous Eris was a slow POS but it launched pandora in about 2 minutes and songs went immediately one song to the next. The x2 takes 30-50 seconds between songs. I tried uninstalling reinstalling the app and clearing its cache. Its odd since Netflix starts up right away and plays quicker on my phone than it does at home...

I got rid of Pandora for similar reasons, kept changing songs halfway through a song. Seems Pandora is failing, and have you ever checked the permissions it asks for? I'd recommend another radio app but I haven't found one as good as Pandora used to be. In summary, Pandora sucks.

I have been dealing with the same. It seems to be any ROM I have tried. None of the various tweaks or even an old 1.3 version of Pandora that some said did not have the issue seem to fix this problem. Just search google using the terms android and slow you will see many folks having similar issues. My wifes D2G does the same. Wifi and 3G both give the same inconsistent results.
It used to be really bad for me, now its every now and then, always on a song in really enjoying >.< makes me wanna try spotify or something seeing as it came out for android pretty recently.

I was about to root and rom my wife's phone because she was complaining about Pandora doing exactly what you are describing. Think I will hold off for now since it doesn't appear to be something that can be fixed that way. Been trying to move her over to Spotify, maybe this will be the time...
Two big problems with my EVO 3D that are driving me crazy:
1. I have been having this streaming video issue for a few months now. No matter what streaming video service I use (although mostly YouTube or the G4TV app) the video will start to massively lag eventually. The timing is always different, sometimes its a minute in, sometimes its 10 minutes in, but it WILL eventually start to lag. The sound is still playing, but the video stutters or flat-out stops. And it turns out its not just the video, my ENTIRE PHONE lags when this happens, so much that the hardware buttons and touchscreen don't respond until about 30 seconds to a minute later. This only appears to happen when streaming video, already-downloaded video plays just fine off of the SD card. Half of the time Sense appears to crash when this happens too, since I see it restarting after I exit the streaming app. My cousin has an EVO 3D as well and this isn't happening to him, nor have I see anyone mention about this on Google ) the instances of lag I found were buffering issues. I don't have any idea where to begin finding out what is causing this, does anyone have any hints?
2. My G-Mail app stopped working. And I don't mean it stopped syncing like it has for others before, I mean it dosen't work anymore period. I can still launch the app, my accounts are still there, but NO new mail since Janurary 12 has shown up, manually choosing refresh does nothing. I tried rebooting my phone, and even clearing the Gmail app's data.... all it does now is say "Your email will appear shortly" ... its been saying this for about three days now. I can't even use G-Mail on my phone anymore! Help?

Are you rooted? If so, are you on a custom ROM? If yes, which one? On average a simple wipe fixes the problems you talking about. I can't say much about the streaming issue since I've never experienced it, but for the Gmail issue, go into Settings>Applications>Manage applications and find Gmail, then "Clear data". Once you set it up again the problem should go away (at least that's my experience).

As I said, I already tried that, didn't work.
Odd issue and I will use Pandora as an example. I usually stream music through my phone in my car over the AT&T data connection. Odd thing is, if my screen locks by itself when a song is playing it will not play the next song, due to no data connection, until I unlock the screen.
The only thing I can think of, and I admit I have not verified yet, is if it is Juicedefender doing this when the screen locks. I will test this out by uninstalling and verifying, but I wanted to see if anyone else has anything similar happening to them.
I haven't used juice defender is some time but I think unless you tinker with some of the settings. It will shut off your data anytime the screen locks. Try digging into some of the options.

I almost made this exact thread the other day. The problem is juice defender. It's actually not a problem because that's how it works by design. When you run pandora, pandora caches the song it's playing so while it's playing that song, there's no active data transfer so juice defender shuts down the data connection when the screen locks.
To fix it you can either get one of the upgraded pay versions of juice defender which let you set up a list of apps that you don't want JD to shut down the data when they're open or just do what I do........disable JD when you're running pandora.
I appreciate the replies from you both! Thanks
Hour long drive to school, works great on Sprint's 3G. I'm running a Galaxy Nexus on CM10. On the way back, it just shows the album art and continually tries to load the next track, playing nothing. It changes album art every 30 seconds or so. I was running a modified unlimited apk, so i updated to the play store version. Same thing. I tried a modified latest release, it played one song and then started doing the same thing. I dropped the app on my Nexus 7 and tethered from my Galaxy Nexus, it does the same thing. It works fine on my home desktop PC, and i keep forgetting to try it on my home wifi. There's no open wifi networks where I am that pandora isnt blocked on for me to test it with. Any help is appreciated.
I would uninstall Pandora and reinstall it. I had to do that the other day at the gym for the same reasons. I had the unlimited apk and it started to do that so I uninstalled and reinstalled Pandora but it did it too. Finally got it to work though after uninstalling and rebooting my phone to reuinstall the Play Store version. Those ads really annoy me though.
I've been having an audio issue on this phone and it's getting quite irritating.
If I use the stock Music app or the Google Play Music app to listen to music and turn the screen off, eventually the audio gets cut out. The only way to fix it is by closing the music app entirely and reopening it. But once I turn the screen off, the issue comes back.
Someone on the OnePlus One forum had the same issue on their HAM2, but they said it went away. I've had my phone for almost month now and it's still here. I've tried the normal power saving mode, and both music apps don't show up in the protected apps list.
There's also a Bluetooth audio issue. Once connected to a Bluetooth device, the music skips around.
Anyone else have this/these issue(s)?

I've ordered a HAM2 but don't have it yet, but this is really an Android issue (there's still a BT skipping issue in KK 4.4 when playing music from an SD card in devices with an SD card slot). Some users with different phones have reported success in stopping the skipping by going into BT settings and choosing "visability timeout" and moving that setting to "never timeout." Good luck.

Weird, my previous 3 year old phone with 4.4.4 didn't have this issue. All the music was on the SD card too.
I'll try the BT later and see if it still happens.

In another forum, a person for whom the visibility input fix didn't work, who believed his issue was with another app running in background and using system resources posted that he used safe mode and lost the BT skipping issues (and confirmed his issue was app related). It's always a pain to try to determine if an app is causing issues if you've got a new device and installed a lot of apps at once. I've had to do that a couple of times and felt like pulling my hair out until I found the offending culprit.

I guess if finding out which app is the culprit becomes too difficult and a factory reset is needed, it won't be too bad as Google Play will automatically reinstall the apps.
However my priority is music from the SD card, and it'll be impossible to listen to anything if this doesn't get fixed.
YES I have this problem all the time and It's starting to make me mad
I had problems with audio both streaming through bluetooth and Chromecast. Bluetooth would stutter and skip frequently (rebooting fixed it temporarily), and music would just stop on the Chromecast at the end of the current song after turning my screen off (also fixed for a short while by rebooting). I returned the phone because of these issues. I'm hoping that 4.4 will fix these problems and I can buy another one.

Someone on a different device and forum solved this by going to Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Music > Uninstall updates.
I did Force stop > clear cache > clear data > uninstall updates, and updated again through Play Store but the issue still exists. It's so frustrating. Can't listen to music on the train or in the car unless I leave the screen on, which is dumb.

It hasn't really been acting up the last couple of days. However before that I couldn't listen for 2 minutes without it cutting out.
Oh well. Problem solved itself, I hope it stays like that.
EDIT: I'm going to try streaming through bluetooth to see if I have any problems, as a lot of others were complaining about it.

Interesting, the people on our boat on the OnePlus One forums said the same thing. I wonder if I should just let the error happen and see if it fixes itself instead of trying to avoid it by leaving the screen on.
And please do! I completely forgot to test the bluetooth problem.
I had the skipping thing and what I did to get rid of it was turn "off" the smart battery saver, and set it to normal.
Cuts the battery time, but good grief, even with it off, I get 2 days EASY.

So I have been using my "Big Blue Live" bluetooth speaker for the past couple of days. I've probably listened to a couple hours worth of music and it hasn't skipped once. I don't have a bluetooth compatible car to test car compatibility in, otherwise I would do that too. But I don't have any skipping problems.
HOWEVER I remember I was coming back home from a trip and I wanted to listen to the radio from Chicago so I downloaded an app and hooked it up to the car via bluetooth (it was a rental) and IT was cutting out....that may have just been a problem with the app though.
