I've noticed the Galaxy S3 charges very slow via USB to comp, is that normal?
Would it be quicker via the power outlet?
I didn't think it was any different between the two though I haven't tried the outlet yet.
How do you charge yours?
Yes it is normal
Here is the internal settings for charging in S3:
-wall charger 1000mA
-USB charge 475mA
So charging your phone via USB should be longer than with wall charger
Thanks a lot mate. That makes perfect sense.
Silly me. Used to the old tablet having only a usb charger so I didn't know any better.

Hi,
ive noticed something odd. Theres a tab here that doesn't like to charge with unofficial samsung chargers.
Both from a wall or from a car - it has two chargers, both are the same technicals as the original, and both put an "X" on my battery (the same as when its connected to a laptop).
But its odd, cause technically, the charger is the same charger (lets say the car produces different specs, but I still try charging with an unofficial normal charger from my wall socket).
Any ideas?
If you are rooted try this and see if it works

with me it does charge using USB in my tab with stock TW, but it is very slow (X mark on the battery icon). i guess the charger you are using does not delivery the same level of charge similar to one provided by original samsung USB wall adapter.

same here...very slow without original charger, took like a whole day to get full charged.
Will plugging the Note into my PC via USB cable also charge Note like my iP did?
Yes it does also charge the NOTE
It will, but remember that charging USB had a slower charge rate, and also depending what your doing with your phone while charging, it might actually not recognize its charging, because the output is greater than the incoming charge and your battery level will drop.
you can't rain on my parade, I'm on the road to my fairytale!!!
It will charge fine but at the slower USB trickle rate, like most devices.

This SIIG INC - SYNC/CHARGING HUB AND READER FOR GALAXY TABLETS - CE-H21112-S1 gives you the capability to charge your Tab through a computer USB port. Seems to work pretty good used it last night. Checked the net prices vary per vendor.
when I plug into the pc usb port even though it shows as not charging after a while the percentage goes up, so it does d a slow charge. Does the hub give a faster charge?
charging via USB is very slow
you can switch it from data mode to charge mode.

charge mode allows a better charge rate.
I'm experiencing a slow charging experience through USB port @ my laptop as well, like at least one of the users mentioned up there... Does this allow fast charging of the battery?
When i want to charge my 7.7 overnightI usually do it thru USB. FYI slow charging is always best for the batteries.
Since i got my 7.7, i have never used the included 2000ma charger. I always use my old GNote's 1000ma charger to prolong the battery life of the 7.7 since it is not easily replaceable.

After i was struglin to charge my G3 through my pc i buy a traveler charger from ebay...its the same as the stock charger and said 1.8mA..i saw that my phone didnt charge as fast as my stock charger and still my wirless chargers couldnt charge my phone...but i saw another strange think...i bought a collored (w/ LED) usb cable to use it as a night light as long as with my stock charger on my bed....my phone charged as slow as i had connected into my pc usb 2.0!
So i test all my usb cables and saw an extremly diverse charging rate..
As you can see in my pics while using ampere all my other (ebay, old phones) usb cables couldn't pass the 350-400mA charging rate..while my stock LG cable could charge a bit more on the Traveler charger while with the stock charger it could get to 1.0A easily..
So whats wrong??Is usb cables equally different as the chargers???
Thanks and sorry about my horrible english!!!

So, as far as I know, with all of the phones I have had, including the G3, charging my phone through a computer always have horrible charge rates compared to charging through a wall outlet. Though, when you say a "travel charger" in not sure if this is what you meant or if you meant some other form of charger.
From your post I've come to view your question as being "can different USB cables charge at different rates?" the answer is yes. Different usb cables will grant different charging rates depending on what battery type that USB cable was meant to charge.
One last thing though, I would love to know what app you use to find all that information!

So just to buy a funcy and funny usb cable with leds inside from ebay is just a waste of money...even with wall charger it can give to the phone max 600mA...
Anyway thanks...the app is Ampere!!!it give you the charge and discharge flow
So, I've been using the Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Pad since launch of the N8. Just now, it doesn't charge my phone. I unplug and plug the cable and I see that the LED on the charger cycles from Blue to Green to Cyan. Anyone have an idea whats going on? Is it dead? I know Cyan mean it's plugged to a low voltage charger...but the lights don't stay lit.
Have you tried a different Samsung Fast charger adapter? When using the Samsung Fast charger adapter on your Note 8 does Note 8 say "Fast Charging" or low power charging? It maybe your current Samsung Fast charger adapter failing.
Have you tried a different cable?
Or it could be lower current on that AC wall outlet.

Hmm. tried all those suggestions. Still nothing happened...but, just out of the blue...tried again just now...and it's working. Maybe some software glitch?
