I am currently running ActiveSync 3.7 with Outlook 2003 on a windows 2003 machine.
For some WEIRD reason my computer freezes every once in a while and i have to reset it, after trouble shooting the application that causes my pc to freeze is Outlook 2003, but i am wondering if it can be because it is using activesync or anything like that...
Any ideas guys?
yes
Yes I have same configuration and similar problem.
Maybe you are right, its because of Outlook 2003. I can only synchronize once and then I have to kill activesync to synchronize my xda again. (http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3262)
Have you tried to synchronize it without outlook items? maybe only favorites or folders?
yup I'll confirm that problem too
running Office 2k3 Pro on MSW2k3EE with same symptoms...
I thought it was my 2k3 rom acting up lol
sorry O2
Active synch and outlook 2003
You will have to uninstall the active synch application from Control Panel.
Then go to program files and delete the directory Activesynch. Reboot.
Download AS 3.7.1 and install it. It should work and resolve the synch problem.
Also check on the settings of your USR connection ( there is a USB2 patch on Windows update that corrects the disconnecting of the USB.
usb update
Hi Ronin
I can't find any usb2.0 update for windows 2003. Could you send download link?
Thanks
Windows 2003 has USB 2 support enabled at the OS level. If you are using Office 2003 in Windows 2000, XP home or Professional you should use the "windows update" under tools in your Internet Explorer.
If you system needs it it will show as one of the OS recomended updates.
Note: also check on your firewal software and enable " connection manager" to allow listening in for TCP ports, some of which are used by MS office, Active synch USB calls and the device itself. A lot of people do not realize that the active synch comes into weird ports and their firewall blocks those calls ( Check your firewall logs to see if connection manager and activesynch attempts were blocked!)
hi everyone, just got an xda 2 and serial cable. using xp pro and latest activesync from MS website.
it just says cannot detect mobile devie tho.
been into active sync setting and chose baud mode 115200 instead of usb on the xda and it's com 1 with activesync displays as active but still no phone!
help please.
spent the last hour looking thru previous posts
When I plug my phone into my laptop running Windows XP ActiveSync runns fine and I can transfer stuff back and forth eaisly but not with Vista on my desktop. It beeps to say that its been plugged in but then does nothing.

Uncheck the Enable advanced network functionality option that can be found in Settings/Connections/USB to PC.

Hi all,
Activesync has decided to stop working, I have recently upgraded to Office Pro 2010 and the initial sync worked OK (although it only synced 2 weeks on calendar) but now it won't sync at all. The device (HD2) is connected via USB to a PC running XP (Sp3) and this is being recognised.
The only new thing I've added is Cookies Home Tab (v2) and I've re-installed Activesync to no avail.
Any help, as always is gratefully received
Lilbil
Have you tried deleting and re-establishing your Activesync partnership with your PC?
Yep, tried that a few times
The Thunderbolt is nice. Nicer if HTC Sync would work with standalone Outlook 2007 running on Vista. I'm using latest version of HTC synch from HTC website(Note: it takes a few hours to download)
I've browsed a bunch of forums looking for a solution, and have:
1. disabled firewall
2. disabled virus protection
3. downloaded lastest HTC sync (installed, deleted, re-installed, repeat, etc)
4. Followed HTC instructions about going to settings-applications-development-usb debugging, then selecting (or deselecting) HTC sync
Tried installing HTC Synch with phone not plugged in, plugged in, etc.
Usually after doing step 4 (above), Vista laptop sees the Thunderbolt and connects for about 3 seconds, and then it goes back to "No device connected" on the Vista PC. In maybe 1 in 50 attempts at connecting, it will connect long enough for me to download the pictures from the phone to the Vista Laptop.
Anyone else get HTC sync working with the Thunderbolt and Outlook 2007?
Thanks,
Doug
p.s. I can't upgrade to Windows 7 on the laptop to test this out, as I have Dell M2010 laptop with 20 inch screen that doesn't have all Win7 drivers available.
