Try unchecking "Sync Picasa Web Albums" under your Google account in Accounts & Sync settings.
I have sync off on it all /

Hmm. That's strange. That's the only thing I have unchecked, and I don't have my Picasa Instant Upload album showing in my Gallery app at all anymore. As far as I recall, that's all I did to get it out of there.
I'm rooted anything to do with it?

Doubt it. I'm rooted too.
I have the same problem
I can't get rid of it too, but I just try to ignore it. If you can figure it out, it'll be good to know.

As of Jellybean, Google combined camera and gallery to a single app. This causes issues with web-album sync.

Could you repost it somewhere that doesn't require an account for download...?
Well, if you use your second link, no sign in required, but it gives a file removed error.

Instead of having the CM10 camera app with the extra features and no photo sync, you get the regular jelly bean camera with photo sync.
Since when has there been photo sync with stock android? Google never synched my photos.

It should have contact's assigned name in said bubble. I'd suggest you attempt to create a contact widget for another contact and see what happens.

Try it out and let us know. I don't see why not.
Tried removing the gallery apk and it took the camera with it. :-\

The gallery app is also the camera app, so to answer your question, no you can't.
Does anyone know where the scanned checks are saved on the phone? I want to get rid of the files after the deposit is complete.
Thanks.

Nope, not there. Apparently, according to their FAQ images are not stored in the phone. Can't understand how it works, but that's what they say.
It could be set to auto delete. Maybe?
