[Q] Clemsyn's or faux's ? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I was searching around the topics about battery life and I have read a lot of comments about getting better battery life with Clemsyn's 1.0 ghz kernel.
How about your thoughts? Is this right? Or any other suggestions?

Come on guys, No one knows?

Try faux 026 1 ghz.

I prefer faux's

I use Faux's 026 GB 1.0GHz right now on Nottachtrix. Working fine for me, although my battery life has decreased slighty since updating from his 025 kernel. Faux's release is much newer than the Clemsyn kernels, so I would go with Faux.

Clemsyn and kholk used faux kernel and altered it. They have long since stopped making adjustments, as where faux still makes updates. Choice is yours to make, test them and see what you like.

I thank you all, I'm using faux 026 for a while. I'm not okay with my battery life. I will probably try Clemsyn's to see if there is any difference.

Might also try the Faux 025 kernel. If you also UV by -50mV across the board you can extend battery life fairly well.

Thats probably due to bad battery stats, try using zeppelinrox's script to calibrate your battery. I am using faux 1ghz and its fine for me

I installed "Voltage Control" app from the playstore and I UV by -50 of all lines(1000 mhz, 750 mhz... all of them) in the 'Voltage' section of the app. Is that right? Can it help me to extend my battery life?

Joker's kernel cm7 better battery

Who knows which kernel I can use to undervolt and how do I do that using CM settings? And will this give me better battery life? thanx guys

there is only two so try one for a couple of days to see which one is better for your phone. you need to go through a couple of charge cycles to get a true test.
use myrt from the market to uv.

i fixed the setcpu bug so you could use anything now.

Im using 1.3 kernel for cm7 and the battery is not i was expecting, uv'd -75 to all... got better battery life with jokers skinnyrev1 rom, still will wait for 2 more cycles to see real stats... any advice for getting a better battery life will be appreciated

Just give it a few days. And quit playing with the phone lol

I have the 1.3 kernel for Joker on CM7 with it UV'd by 100 and I routinely get 15-20 hours off of the battery with moderate usage no complaints here.
Thanks for the feedback, now testing -100 uv'd, i noticed that 3g-hdspa in GSM kill really faster the battery, anyone noticing that too?

I have the same kernel. Using myrt I ubdervolt everything to -100 but after I apply changes the 1.3 setting goes back up to Max.
Any ideas?
I just installed set CPU and reset everything .. we'll see if the settings stick

I use SetCPU to change my settings, and it seems to stick from what I can see.

So far setcpu seems to work although I don't notice too much improvement in battery life. It's very tolerable but nit magnificent lol

[Q] ICS Passion CPU setting

guys, what's the recommended set CPU settings and profiles for ICS Passion v11 to save battery life. I recently flash the new ICS Passion v11b5 kernel.

I think 1.2 GHz as a max should be good enough. As for governors, try conservative, although smartass will probably give you a good blend of performance/battery.
Whatever you do though, don't put the min as 100 MHz.
Thanks but I'm currently using 100 as minimum.
What's the issue of it?

100 and 200 use the same amount of power, hence same battery life with better performance. You don't even need to overclock, just undervolt all -25.
Using stock settings will give you both battery and smoothness on the rom.

Recommend a good undervolting kernel

I have a rooted epic 4g running cm9 and the shadow kernel. Can anybody recommend some good uv kernels to try out. My battery life isn't too bad but wanna see what else is out there. Pm me or reply.
Thnx!

undervolting?
ive got the cpu high and low setting where i like them but can somebody explain the undervolting side? Ive dl setcpu but again just the cpu no battery settings.

[Q] AOKP kernels which has the best battery for you?

I am running AOKP and before the stocks kernels battery life was not too good now I am running NEAK with AOKP 5-1 and I wanted to know which has better battery life. Siyah was amazing for me on GB with UnNamed.
EDIT: I tested Siyah for a few days it was pretty bad even with underclocking 200 - 800 or 1000 and with undervolt. Sticking with NEAK again just wanted to know if NOOP + ONDEMAND would be better or NOOP + LAZY.

Gotta try em both out, every phone is unique
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Not just that every phone is unique, it's that every user has a unique setup with different app usage pattern. Different apps behave differently and consume power differently; therefore, my setup may require very different kernel setups to get extended battery life than yours might. As he said above my post, your the best judge of what works for your setup, try them all and see what works for you.

I can say that neak kernel has worked very nicely for me. Great battery life. Been running it for 3 days now.

Same here. I came from siyah with horrible battery life.
I agree with Nick, try both.

Both performed about the same for me. I noticed significantly more performance from NEAK, and battery life is about the same. But that's just me.

I think the first part of that sentence contradicts itself haha
AOKP + N.E.A.K is pretty beast. Most users will tell you this.

Yes, but once again it varies per phone/user.
Also, what governor do you use? There's only 3 for neak and I've only used ondemand.

In N.E.A.K Options inside Recovery, you can enable two additional governors, as well as put Lionheart tweaks on the Conservative governor.
I find Lazy governor works well for me, but I'm still switching around. NEAK definitely gives me better performance, but seems to give me less battery life. More testing to perform!

How so? He asked about two different Kernels and how they performed. I advised "Both performed about the same" indicating I had installed both and my battery life was about the same. I don't see how I made a grammatical error in that.

Because you said "both performed about the same" then said "I noticed significantly more performance from neak". That's besides the point though

Now I get you. Sorry if I jumped, I try very hard to use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Perhaps I'm a little OCD about it. lol

i've been using siyah...i get a lot of lockups with neak..but i think its because i'm not using neak correctly.
in the options is it better to have all governors enabled (conservative, lionheart, lazy)? also i hear for cpu that ondemand with bfq is preferred.
also does anyone have sched_mc and ext4 boost checked?
May you please post your i/o schedulers, governor, the way you charge it, and other essential info?

I had the similar problems (random reboots, lockups) with neak (AOKP), while running great on siyah / CM9 kernels. not sure what's caused it - was too lazy to figure out, reverted to siyah.

I've been running Siyah for awhile now and get 16-17hrs on battery with 3hrs screen on, but just flashed Neak tonight, I'll report back with my findings
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Btw, these are the settings I'm using, and so for today (6+ hrs) I've had zero problems. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23139337#post23139337
I had Siyah and battery life was not that great. I would leave the phone idle over night (5-6hrs) and it would go down about 20-30 percent. On the other hand with this new Neak kernel it only went down 1 percent. I can def see an improvement in battery life.

kernel cm7

I could say hello kernel is best for the atrix with cm7

Go with latest Faux 1.0GHz or 1.3GHz. If you go with 1.3GHz I would underclock it to 1.1GHz until you want the extra zip. Also, if you undervolt by -50mV across the board you will see a significant increase in battery life.
Thanks you for your help
