What ics roms are out there that are exceptionally good and have a good UI and good customization since I wanna try out things other than my current ICS zenwich from after my Passion from kept freezing and losing battery. ROMs like master ICS or Chimera (which I will download to my phone and flash tomorrow to try it out). Also wondering about any bug patches or fixes for the passion rom for battery and freezing issues.

for me, chimera is my daily driver...i was on passion for a bit, jumped to euphoria which i liked a lot better. tried zenwich too...still on chimera. i heard slim is awesome but it is stripped down to basics. i havent tried it tho... cm9 rc1 should be rolling out soon for our vibrants as well. cant really go wrong with cyanogen...
battery life is pretty good with chimera...better than the others ive tried. gps works, 911 works. be sure to download and flash the v1.3 kernel while youre at it too. actually, i think the newest kernel is included in chimera v.2 rom. chimera is easy to flash and allows you to customize your install...
team passion does good work as do most other devs that still work on the somewhat out-dated but beloved vibrant. try em all out then decide on your fave...also try different kernel/rom combinations...
aloha
I think you have try this two roms run awesome
first is RemICS and the second one is MIUI V4
Passion was my first ICS rom. I had same issues, freezing (lock screen and Google search) and extreme battery power draw. I was using Gummy for awhile, nice rom, very custom friendly apex launcher. Tried slim, to bare for me. Now on RemICS! Beautiful rom plus includes devil kernel! Devil has a lot of user tweaks available. Do research to get best setup battery/performance for your needs.
Let's skip the chick flick moment..
Slim is my home rom pretty much. I've tried passion, euphoria, docs and now slim (in that order) and as far as my experience, slim has proved best, followed by euphoria. The only reason I ditched euphoria is because of the unacceptably slow updates.

I can't decide what rom to run! i want something with decent battery life and good performance. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Four Days. I think you should plan on spending 4 days trying out the various ROMs until *you* find one that *you* like; with you spending a day on each one. They come with their own set of strengths.
My personal experience with Onyx and Axura is that they both had good battery life. I've also tried Obsidian, but thought that the battery life with Onyx was better.
But, ultimately, the battery life will depend on what apps & widgets you use and how you use your phone.
Good luck.
Thanks, I'm currently trying one of them out. A relatively new one but I like their setup. Will definitely see how battery life is and go from there
Been running macnutr12 with the latest bstock kernel1120_100 and jfs overkill lagfix enabled...smooth sailing.

If you want GPS to work, stay away from any i9000 based ROM such as the MacNut series. Any ROM based on JK2 (such as AOSP-ish or Axura) though should come with at least typical GPS functionality. The ROM's description will typically say what it is based upon.
I've tried different ROMs and so far each ROM has its lack on something. I ended up doing the same thing I did with 2.1 which was built my own ROM (JK2 based) and stock kernel for a phenomenal battery life.
I'm in the same boat...i don't know what rom to use...i rooted it, have rom manager, one click lag fix, but confused on what rom to use and yet how to do it...youtube videos are ok but not that helpful. Someone give me a good thought. Guess I'm looking for a quick and responsive phone or rom rather.
Thank u in advance.

I personally like the frobuntu rom, my daily driver. Everything runs smooth.
I personally like the team whiskey froyo ROMS like Onyx and Obsidian...I'm running Onyx cuz TouchWiz has been completley removed...

Currently running this rom Re: [ROM] FroyoCollab V1.2.1 ULF_Kernel / Stock_Kernel | **11/27/10**
Its really smooth and battery so far is ok. Gps is great, slight overclock and running ULF lag fix. Does have TW but a real smooth version of it

I tried most of the major 2.2s, including Macnut, Axura, and Obsidian, and finally went back to the first one I tried: Eugene's Stock 2.2/Odin flashable. It gives me great performance and the battery life is awesome.
If I had to pick one of the highly modified 2.2 ROMs it would probably be Axura. I found Macnut and Obsidian basically unusable due to terrible battery life.
I'm only a month old Androidian... and within a month I leant a lot frm XDA about installing custom rom/rooting and using new themes etc...
But I am really lost at one point ... which custom Rom is the best one and is flawless... i mean some times im really confused bet the top ROM maker's ... I knw that everybdy's workin hard to make a best out of it....
but I would really like 2 knw who's using which custom ROM tht's been used by maximum number of users and whch seen flawless (at least fast and 90% flawless)
Everyone has different tastes, so you should try a few roms to choose the one that you think it's better.
You must keep in mind that no rom is 100% perfect and there are always little flaws. When I install a custom rom, I always do a few tweaks here and there and add or remove that I like or dislike.
I've tried Exynos, Cognition, Villain, SkyRom and Lite'ning. To my taste, Villain and Lite'ning are the best, with Exynos in second place. FYI, Now I'm on Villain 2.1 with Ninphetamine 2.0 Kernel and KG2 modem, just to try something different to Lite'ning 3.1.
I'm eagerly waiting for MIUI and Cyanogen to become stable, but in the meantime I'm switching between the aforementioned roms.
I feel that Cyanogen is one of the most stable roms out there, even though they're nightlies. No sudden reboot, excellent batterylife, not to mention the huge amount of tweaks and settings built in..

For now I am staying (and thus voting) "original stock ROM".
This will very likely change once CM7 is finished for the SGS2
But its still early days of i9100 and every now n thn a new official stock rom is release or I must say "leaked" (thanks 2 samfirmware) .....
n it really sux whn after installing latest cf-root n custom rom , theme and backup restoration setting Home widgets your own way everthing ... which sometime takes many days to settle.
... and after doing all that @SamFirmware tweets that a new I9100 firmware is leaked... and then forgetting all the hardwrk we did to make i9100 stylish n fast, we start refreshing XDA forum to see whether smbdy has released a custom rom or not ?
n the Impatient ones takes backups via titanium and wipes everything and get back to Stock Rom to see the diff (deliberately ignoring the fact tht titanium restore will work only after rooting) ...
Its really a fact... tht happen with most of the ppl...
After trying various Roms in last few months... I stay with either Villain ROM OR Official ROM (CF Rooted ) .... hope that if some day it could be dual booted like my PC is.
I stick with the official ROM and customize it to my own needs.
I love MIUI as I love to heavily customise look and feel with ease.

CM7 it runs really great for me with no issues. I am hoping to get my Dual boot working soon to boot then i will be set.
I love batista 70. For me the best.
I think Leomar v2.6 is the best because of the personalization you can do and it's very very very easy to do!!

i agree with you
Cyanogenmod definitely. I never was one to enjoy being tied down to OEM software which were uncompatible with each other.
If you want a custom custom rom check out Insanity II... quick, stripped down, bare bones, no non-sense. Since you only run essentials it ups your battery life by quite a bit.
On Sammy ROMs Cognition and Darky are very stable and have decent battery life.
CM7 is highly customizable but you miss certain features like A2DP, FM radio, better camera , hi def videos that are part of Samsung ROMs. Some of these features are being worked upon and would be available whenever the stable version comes out.
Some people have better battery life on CM7. strangely it is not the case with me.
MIUI is cute but a big battery drain.
overall there is no best ROM or anything . you try different ROMs and use the one that suits your needs.
I'm using leomar 2.6 with nimpho 2.1.3 and it goes very smooth.. Battery goes for 2days (ofc that depends..) and in general works for me. Plus you can customize it and make it as you like through his kitchen with mods, themes etc.

My Vote is definitely for VillainRom 2.4.2 and kernel 2.0.5 woked best for me... smooth, minimalistic and no bugs... cheers
I am also on villainrom 3.0 but with ninph 2.1.3 .... my battery is draining very fast... any second best ppl can suggest?
CriskeloRom is the best

Agreed. I used CM7 for about 2 days before i switched back to (the vampiric) stock. It had great battery life for me but i do use bluetotth and FM radio on a daily basis.
Just like the title says. Looking for a solid daily driver with no hassles. AOKP looks pretty darn good (tried out a much earlier build on another phone and liked it) but for those of you who have been in the ROM game with the i777 longer than I, I'd be grateful for opinions. Thanks.
I have tried all of them and all are great now that they all have run time now. Its all personal preference. I love CM9 and Fox Hound best just because of the stability(less f.c.) for me and apps I run. But could be different for you. Great thing is that you can customize all of them to your liking. But in only opinion as you will get from everyone. I like the two above.
Stomp Em Drink Em SGSII
Never had a fc on aokp cm9 or another Rom here... Obviously the Samsung Rom will be more stable but the aosp Rom are much more feature packed

I've been running AOKP for a few days now (b32, and now the 4-18-2012 update). I haven't really run into any issues (I think the default File Manager F.C. on a cut/paste once, but that's it), but other than that it has been quite stable and the level of built-in customization (something I absolutely love) is amazing.

I've been running Shoman's Shostock2 v2.1 (ran his RC1-RC6 and v1 as well) and I haven't had one FC's or non-working function I've run into. On the release candidates did have a couple of force closes but not on v1 or v2. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.
P.S.
Battery life has been stellar as well.

Ran tasks official at&t leak uclc5 for 2 weeks no probs, just updated to tasks ucld3 official leak today, to soon to tell but seems good only been running it a couple hours. I prefer mostly stock roms not to concerned with bling just want it to do what i need when i need it.
I just got a Vibrant and was wondering if I should roll with Passion, CGM, or AOKP?
I looked into these, but just wanted some more opinions on which one I should install.
I'd prefer to get something that would make my phone faster and have a better battery life.
Good luck! I'm personally too scared to try any of the ICS roms due to the spooky Encryption Unsuccessful bug.
That said, before I read up on that bug, I was going to install the Gummy rom. Seemed kinda cool.

ICZen and Slim are my favorite ICS builds, but with the GPS still having delayed lock problems (even for a Vibrant) I still come back to Froyo for daily driver purposes. If you don't mind a sub-par GPS (which the Vibrant is already infamous for) the ICS ROMs are badass. I've flashed different versions of Slim and ICZen about 15 or so times with their different releases, and I never had a problem with the encryption bug but the more I've read about it the more it worries me.
Fishman (Bionix-V Mod, AOSP, RAZR, among a few) and Moped Ryder (EZ_Ryder, and a Slim version of that) still update and work on Froyo ROMs, plus there are so many "vintage" 2.2 ROMs to give a run it took me about a week of flashing a bunch of them to find what I liked and didn't like. I still almost always settle back on Bionix-V 1.3.1 or Fishman's mod of 1.3.1, but Project-V is another nice one even though it's unsupported now.
I wasn't a fan of the look of Trigger look but the performance was very good, and Go Launcher being integrated into Deranged was a non-started for me. As awesome as Go Launcher is (my favorite freebie launcher), I like my ROMs as barebones as possible so that I can add what I want, but that's just me. Zendroid was another great Froyo build (I think Deranged was built off of it), but, again, something about the look didn't do anything for me but that's all personal taste. You can theme them how you want, but sometimes those don't touch as much of the overall look of the ROM as having them themed from "stock".
I'd say go with the latest iczen if u want stability cool features and great battery life. Plus you will still get support and a great team behind it with lots of cool themes I will try an get u my battery life screen shots once I'm home and on my computer

ICZEN is the one you're looking for.
This may be later than normal, but I've been on ICZen for a long time now...I tried to switch to CM9 but was highly disappointed by that, and went back to Zen... Much more stable, faster, more user friendly interface. Some things that I like that I could NOT go on without were the brightness slider on the drop down menu and the hold back to kill app features... those two alone make this app worth its weight in gold. I've tried six different ones and always go back to Zen Love their stuff!

If you want something new, fast, simple, stock-like, then get Helly Bean. For speed, I used these OC settings that someone suggested to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30957051
As for the battery life, I had GPS off and Wi-Fi off playing music from Winamp in my car with it for about an hour and it went down from 95% to 82%, if that helps.
Also, I recently flashed the build update from 9/2 to 9/4 Helly Bean and only had to change the LiveOC high and low after OCing with the settings in the link above without losing any files.
For me the CM10 last nigthly is the best.
I will have to try ICZen. I've been running on of the CM9 nightlies (04/29). It was great for quite awhile, but the battery life hasn't been very good the last week or so for some odd reason.
Hi all, I have a Nexus 4 coming my way and I'm going to gift my good ole Vibrant to my sister during Thanksgiving. Can I have some opinions on which ROM I should put on it for her? I currently have Hellybean which works pretty decently, but has some minor glitches here and there. I'm not sure if I should just wipe and give her the phone with Hellybean or flash another ROM.
I would prefer a ROM that I could put on there and not be worried that I'll have to walk her through re-flashing a new ROM on the phone since she's too far away for me to help her in person.
Main things to keep in mind for your evaluations/suggestions:
Stability
Battery Life
Performance
Thank you!
Well you can't go wrong with cm10. Slim bean is very fast, stable, and has good battery life. V3.0 was just released, set it up and let her run with it.
If she is a little tech savvy, paranoid android is gangbusters, super smooth, stable and has given me the best battery life I've seen since I was running stock. The features of the ROM are not difficult to figure out, just requires a little trial and error.
Also keep in mind cm10.1(android 4.2), and all its variants should be available to the vibe soon.
If that's not the route you want to take, cm7.2 stable release is nice as well.
???
If i were you, I would go with a 2.2 room, namely bionix 1.3

I've been on Paranoid Android now for... seems like a really long time. Probably 2-3 months maybe?
Its rock solid. I was on Helly Bean before, and I liked it too. I'm the kind of person that when I find something I like, I hate to change it. On a tip from my bro Gunny, I hopped from HB to PA and haven't looked back. All the features are there, plus more. Not knocking HB at all. Its just a preference.
It would be like me telling you that you HAVE to like chocolate swirl ice cream. I like it, but I like Superman Ice Cream better. ?
He said stable for sister no time for fixing anything.....hmmm. cm10 would be best. Then when you get the chance later just go to about phone update the ROM when you get your hands on it. Easier to keep someone else updated with cyanogenmod. Or try euroskank cm10 also a good stable ROM. I like pdroid, slimbean, and etc. But for your sister hit her with simple cm10
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
Well, you certainly have a number of routes that you could go man...really it's somewhat dependent on how well your phone responds to certain builds. Honestly, if what you're really looking for is "Battery, Stability, and performance" I'd suggest go no higher than ICS, with Froyo being my suggestion merely on accomplishing those three points to the fullest. With that being said, if you'd like to go the JB route, then you can't go too too wrong with PA, since it's a solid rom. But again, it's really dependent to some extent on specifically what you want to accomplish. Froyo definitely meets all of those requirements in spades, as do some ICS builds (Zen, Rem come to mind)....fewer even still for JB, but I'm sure with the right build, and kernel with a little tweaking, your sister could do just fine running a jelly beaned Vibrant.
Thanks for all the replies, definitely much appreciated! I thought about going back to froyo, but it seems like my phone has handled ICS and JB pretty well considering the age of the phone. I have been on ICZen and that was pretty good so I will think about that. I'm going to try Paranoid since it would be nice to give her JB, and Hellybean has been pretty good, but I guess I need to try out Paranoid first.

360 for sure man..
360 vs. stock differences:
stock is CM10+PA options and is the base rom for 360
360 is my spin on for the rom changes include:
-latest Semaphore kernal "S"version
-patch lib files for greater ram availability
-Build.prop edits
-different system sounds
-GPS fixes and possible improvements
-Beats Audio enhancments thanks Awesome
-remove some unnecessary files
-remove stock live wallpaper
-and other such tweaks as I find them useful
