1. I'd like to talk to a developer about an idea and hopefully get some input and maybe start working on my first project. i think its a pretty damn good idea and if its not already been done, id like to be the first to take a stab at it so if someone could contact me through pm or direct me to some of the senior developers to get some serious input and maybe work on it together.
2. Is there a way to quit getting the notification that the bottom of my screen every time I connect to wifi?

Looking for app to track my wife?

I'm looking for an app I can install on my wife's phone that is hidden so that I can see where she is or has been via cell towers or gps. Doesn't need to be real time but I need to know if she has been where I think she has been. She is pretty dumb when it comes to her phone but has never had gps enabled and would probably notice the enabled icon. I'm pretty confident she is cheating on me and just need to know for sure before I confront her. Is there such an app?
I don't need a lot of features. Basically location history. Some place called spectorsoft has something but it is $70. ANy freebies out there?
Thanks!!
Just go to Google maps and sign her up on Latitude. Latitude will tell you where she was and is. Then after that, install Dexrex on her phone and you can see any, and all, texts she sends and receives. The best part is that it's all free. Then you can use Overview (which used to be free) to do similar things. Also, if you want to catch her on your PC, just install a keylogger.
Does she have Android smartphone? If she have, you can find such apps on Market. I needed that type of app before but unfortunately, we haven't got android on all device. Google Latitude is good too.

I don't condone your method.... But, I know where you are coming from.
Tasker is an amazing app. Not any type of tracking system specifically. But you can create a set of profiles and tasks where you could do something like send a txt to her. Something like "I love you." Or "how are you" or something inconspicuous. You can then program it to, upon recieving said message, turn on GPS for 1min, get a lock on her location and txt you back her location and then shut off GPS. You can also make it so if she looks back into her chat log. It won't show that her phone automatically sent that txt with her where a bouts.
I have something similar in case my phone is ever lost/stolen. Except my setup will also lock the phone, flash the leds, the camera flash, and make a loud noise.
Or you could just sit her down and talk about it....she will appreciate you more, because if she finds the apps you install.....theirs nothing worse than denying it was you who installed them (lying to her) when you have no proof she is lying to you. Your situation is nothing that can't be sorted out by talking about it. Have you got concrete evidence she's playing away? If you don't trust her....I'd learn to and quick because lack of trust is a killer for all relationships. Don't snoop around fishing dude....talk to her!

I have teenagers, so I definitely know where your coming from. My solution is an annual subscription (I think $12 per year, no more than $19.99) is "WaveSecure" by McAfee. Which I do admit if I EVER lost my phone, it is a blessing to have! I can go to a certain locked website by McAfee and not only be able to see where my phone is (without the user knowing) but I can lock it and send a alarm with a custom message. I can even pull pics and content from it. And you can't get into it or uninstall it once its set up on phone without a 6 digit password. Its mainly used if you have you phone stolen. It even notifies me if the SIM card is removed!
Latitude also works, but you have to configure her phone, and (like my teenagers) will eventually know how to turn it off.
Damn kids get smart like that.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that one. I think Lookout (free) can do the same. Well, it can give you the location of the device, but it can't take pictures like WaveSecure.

Cerberus from the market. Once installed and configured, can be set to be invisible in the app drawer.
You can also record audio and take pictures remotely with it! Be sure to silence the camera first though!

I would check your local laws before doing this. I believe it is illegal. I believe there was a recent case where a husband did something similar and was held on wiretapping charges. I do believe it was key logging and not cell phone tracking.
But I hope she is not cheating on you. That is crappy to go through.

You could just chip her... You take her to the vet and for about £20 they put a microchip in her neck and then you can tell where she's been, it's not painful, I did it to my *****.

install a launcher that allows hiding of apps in the app drawer to further safe guard.
Theft aware... 7 day trial, hidden, and if she is rooted you can hide the gps icon. Location is sent via hidden sms and you can get calls and texts forwarded to your phone.
It's not good to spy on people, especially your wife. But hey, it's your choice. Hopefully she isn't having an affair so best of luck.

If you don't want your wife anymore, post a picture of her here. If she's not too shabby, I'll buy her off you for $5. If she looks like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle, I'll give you $2. Either way, she's better off without you.
...if you do want her, what the hell are you doing thinking this crap, let alone posting it in a public forum? You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.
I suggest you seek some professional help. You have trust issues... which makes you untrustable.
I also hope you don't have kids. You are no role model.
You are pathetic. Same goes for everyone in this thread encouraging him. All of you... pathetic.

Help with making an app(Newbie)

hi. I am a COMPLETE noob but i have a great idea of an app....i want to make an app that would take care of most of the students in high schools that take student's phone away. I am trying to make an app that will delete all texts and call logs etc. from the phone when i press a certain button like power button for a certain amount of time or even the volume button. The reason for this app is to prevent school admins to access txts or anything that is personal and u don't want them to find out ur secrets....so whenever a teacher asks for ur phone because u got caught with ur phone out in school, u can quickly press that specific button and a vibration would be a confirmation of task being done. Fast and undetectable. Keep in mind i have never made an app but i would greatly appreciate ur advice and some expert help/advice would be very very helpful. Thanks and i hope u like the idea enough to give some of ur help into making this app.
P.S. where i go to school the school has a right to ask a student for his/her password so that trick is rendered useless.
first of all your in the wrong forum, Second students should be using there cellphone in class. third why don't you google on android developement. Learn basic and then wrok from there. kthanksbai
Wrong forum
Likely wrong intention
Better learn development but build something else

Well really, just follow the rules. You'll learn it's just better that way in the end. If you put as much thought into your homework as getting around the rules you may be able to make this app one day! And if you do, I've got a better idea than button presses you may not be able to execute in time. Instead, have 2 lock screen passwords. 1 that is your legit unlock, the other does the history wipe when input then unlocks. That way it seems like you're playing along with authority demands.

I need to make an app but I don't know where to start

Hey everyone, this is my first time here cause I almost spend all my time in the roms threads and stuff. Anyway, I'm gonna go straight to the point.
The thing is that I want to make a free APP for my company (which isn't any big, but it's mine) but I don't really know where to start.
The idea I have is not very complicated as far as I know, cause what I have in mind is basically a shared agenda attached to a calculator.
Let me explain: I'm a Wedding Planner, and the thing is that I have the couples busy all the time with meetings with providers and stuff, and also I have to be checking the couple's overall money for the whole period between the contract and the marriage.
So what I need to do is an agenda that can be shared with someone else (in this case, me and the couples) with appointments and stuff, and also I need it to have the capability to calculate the couple's budget. So if they spend money in something, we can put that spending in the whole budger, so they would have a clear statement between both parts about where is their money going, and how much will they have at certain point in order so they can have their right amount to spend more or less in something else.
Then I can add simple things like "contact us", Twitter, Facebook feedback and blabla, but the main function is the one I can't do.
I've tried "app builders" but they have just basic options which don't let me dig in more to modify something cause they don't give you the source code.
I'm good at modifing code, but I don't know a single thing about creating from scratch.
Can I get a hand with this?
Thanks guys.
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not development forums.
Thread moved.

Are those dev's answers? Really?
Lol I looked a lot on sites that led me here just to get a "search" answer.
And why would I want to know every single aspect on android to make just a simple app?
Is like getting a chef degree just to make one bacon & eggs.
Still waiting for a serious answer.

Just read an article while flashing, try Android SDK (Don't know for sure) but I think that it is the basic start for programming an application. From then on your on your own. Just google it lol (those are not application files but exe.)

I think you kinda answered your own question really... unless you can find something very close to what you want, you'll have to learn how to create from scratch.
If that hasn't put you off, I'd recommend that you don't go near a phone to start with. Pick just one or two features that your app will need.
Write something standalone that provides that functionality as a Java console application.
Once you have that working, you can start to figure out how to turn it into an app. For that you can probably start with one of the examples that come with the development kit (for instance, a menu example)

[Q] Abuse and GPS tracking

Hey XDA!! I came here because I know you're quick to deliver the help. I'm not sure if this should go in Q&A or the Development section, and you'll see why in a bit.
A friend of mine (we’ll call him M for ease) recently came to me with a concern. His coworker's ex-boyfriend has been hassling and harassing her using her Android phone. **BEFORE I go any further, YES I have suggested that the proper authorities get contacted.** At first he was allegedly sending texts to MY friend via the girl’s phone. He had some forwarding/spy type app (that’s all I could figure out from some research) on her phone that would allow him to text it, and then those messages would forward to M as if they came from his coworker. I have no idea how he could have done that, and I couldn’t find a lot of apps in the play store that seemed to have similar functions.
But now, he is apparently trying to get the poor girl to install a GPS tracker on her phone (unwittingly, I assume) so he can, well, know where she is. M can’t tell me the name of this app because he’s unsure.
So at this point I’m thinking that we not only have someone who’s being evil, but who is *maybe* making his own apps to stalk and get this girl, and my friend, in trouble at work.
I found a GPS spoofer on the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lexa.fakegps&hl=en I have offered to help root phones and install this and do whatever is necessary to get this guy off their backs. I can test it all day long since I have a rooted device—my question is, I don’t have a spy app to spoof, nor do I know what exactly I’m trying to spoof, so how do I know this will be helpful?
I’m also considering finding a custom ROM and helping this girl lock her phone down more. Or telling her to call her carrier and change her number. Beyond that, does XDA have any suggestions or advice? I’m not a coder, but I can follow directions to change things if you tell me exactly where to go and what to change (i have dabbled a teensy bit in android source code before breaking my phone >_>)
The girl has a Samsung Dart, I’m currently unsure of the version of Android it’s running, but should find out soon and will edit the post.
Thanks for all the help!
You can format the phone and see if that works. Plus there are many text blocker apps on market.
Hope i helped .

Yes ,I patiently read the entire story! Wipe the phones data !
As far as the text problem you said I don't think there is anything like that which could receive an sms from a number and then forward it to another number. So there are two options either the girl sent the text or the guy semt the text with a spoof number!
And as far as the GPS is concerned, one doesn't need a GPS tracker to know where one is! Just Google maps is enough if the guy has the girls mail in his contacts. Ask her to change the mail id it should be enough!

Need advice on finding a gps tracking app for my elderly parents

I have finally convinced my parents to get rid of their flip phones and get smart phones. I would like to install a gps tracking app on their phones so they will be able to locate each when they are out alone (my father still jogs everyday and my mother takes walks and i want them to be able to find each other if there was an emergency) . I cant imagine my parents remembering to turn on an app before they leave the house so they need to have something running in the background all the time. I am looking for a simple app that is good on battery usage and can show on a map on their phone where the other one is. It doesnt need to work on a web browser, only android. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would love a xda developed app or open sourced app the best if possible but i would take any suggestion you can give me. Thanks everyone for the help.
