Hi guys
Could anyone advise what is the best option for app backup? Basically its for backing up an app before i upgrade it from the play store. If i have a backup i can just revert in case the upgrade isn't suitable. In the past i used ROM manager and this would backup the whole device. Would titanium backup do for this? I also note there is Chainfires CWM but can you do individual backup and restores with this?
Thks
Titanium backup save app+data.
I use it for two years now and can't live without
In the free version you can only create one backup per app, but with the paid version you can do as many as you need.
At least, that's the basics. It do a lot more.
Hope it'll serves you
Many thanks ill give that a try

I did a mild search and didn't find anything, so sorry if this is a repost.
I want to try new roms, but don't want to go through the headache of redownloading all the apps that I have, is there an easy way to back up my existing apps so I can flash a new rom and just "reload" my old apps?
Does Titanium backup do this? (i've never really used it)
Yes. Use titanium. But use it only to restore apps, never system settings

You can also use MyBackup Root (for both apps, data). The interface is very simplistic and straight to the point, if you don't want all the stuff packed into Titanium.
No dumb questions. Most roms will just auto restore your apps when you sign in with your gmail acct, but some do have the feature disabled so then I would recommend titanium backup. If your new to the root game I would definitely recommend the paid versions of root explorer, titanium backup, and ROM manager at the very least. With the paid version of titanium you can also run the market doctor to restore the market links for your apps if for some reason they do not show up I'm the market after you restore them. Good luck!
Awesome, thanks guys! I appreciate it.
so I had a full system + app backup made in titanium while on vipers ROM. I just flashed to team XRONs ROM and then did a full restore through titanium.
My question is, is titanium smart enough to not overwrite newer version of things when restoring?
I'm basically wondering if its technically possible to restore back to an older version of sense components via a restore.
Posted from my Evo3D on the XDA app
Yea it will restore the last backup, so ifs an older version that's what will be restored, you can always select uncheck what you don't want TB to restore.
I know that it won't help here but in the future, you may want to consider MyBackup Root for your backup options. You can find it in the market and it is free.
TB does the restore in batch mode relative to the last incrementally saved
backup, gives you the option to uncheck the apps you would not like to
install, which is very convenient.
I haven't had too much problem restoring backups of apps when jumping from one ROM to another. If you jump between Sense and AOSP ROMs, Titanium doesn't handle that well. With the 3D, there isn't a fully functional AOSP ROM yet, so you shouldn't have to worry about that now.
I wouldn't restore any system backups when jump from one ROM to another though. Just apps that I have downloaded from market, that's always worked for me. I don't usual restore apps that are part of the base ROM like Internet and Messaging. You may be able to do that go from one ROM to another, but you could be restoring older versions of apps.
I will have to look into MyBackup Root. Curious if it handles Sense to AOSP backup of Apps better.

I think that the Root version is free, the Pro version costs.
I used it coming over from stock rooted to viper. I unchecked everything viper's rom already had so it just imported new stuff for me (saving me at least 15 market downloads) and some other one off items and settings. Worked well. Just takes a second to dig through some times and make sure not to lay down unnecessary crap. Its also color coded for convenience.
Hi
I got a cheap LG GT540 a wee while back and now I want to try and install a more recent version of Android (I currently have version 2.1 installed). I think I understand how to do this but the biggest concern I have is that my phone gets bricked and I have to reinstall. The tutorials I have encountered are mostly over a year old and I want to be certain that I can backup the whole image on my phone and recover it. I would be grateful if you could please confirm what the current best ROM Backup/recovery app to do this?
The best way if via Nandroid backups from your recovery.
(On CWM Recovery: Backup&Restore->Backup or Backup&Restore->Restore)
A Nandroid will give you a full image of everything, Titanium Backup will allow you to pick and choose what you do or don't restore. For both you need a rooted device.
Yeah, with Titanium Backup you can backup/restore the apps and settings you want. It´s very useful if you went to another ROM like MIUI or so.
I always use CWM recovery and Titanium Backup. Safe and sound
I just use a nandroid back up.
Titanium back up can extract bits from a nandroid backup as well.
in the play store u can even get apps backing up ur call lists and sms
Thanks everybody for replying.
I had problems trying to backup ROM, got impatient and finally managed to upgrade to CyanogenMod v6. It wasn't the strategy I had in mind but finally got there in the end!!
My Backup Pro is a good application!!
+1 for Titanium Backup
CWM is what I always use.
CWM is the best...
some app can't restored with titanium backup...
I usually just use the Nandroid backup inside CWM.
I am also using titanium backup (paid version), but I am told not to restore the system data of the previous ROM after updated to a new ROM, because the system data of the previous ROM will cause instability to the new ROM.
I am doing automated backups with Titanium (paid version), and I also make nandroid backup every now and then.
Can Anyone give me the .apk link of a backup/restory app? I looked for one in the play store..but they all are paid..I want to root..but dont have a credit card..please help

I'm also using the titanium backup, but you need the pro version to access some features. I'm satisfied with it.
So I must buy it? There is no free rooting and back up/restoring app? Is Titanium the best one?

I want to know which is the best way to take a complete backup of all my apps and restore it with the app data when i install a new app? as installing all apps is pretty cumbersome when u migrate to a new rom.
thanks for the suggestions
Titanium Backup.
Good evening everybody,
I have been starting to flash different ROMS, and what is the best way to restore data and apps? (titanium backup? Or something else?
It takes a while to re-download Everything from the Google play store.
I am on skydragon Rom with VZW.
I have titanium backup and also jrummy ultimate backup pro.

Personally I think you can't go wrong with titanium. It's a lot easier with the pro version. But as far as restoring apps you can't beat it.

Cloud services, augmenting locally stored zips and APKs for me. Choosing apps like Nova and ChompSMS that allow a local settings backup are key to the ROM-hopper.
Between a custom Gapps package, TBO, and pulls from APKmirror and some zips, I get most of what I need. As far as the data portion, that's where cloud services really come in.; often all that is needed is a log-in and it's there.
I should say that I am a productivity user, not a gamer.
I Used Titanium backup pro and flashed a new ROM. So far so good. thanks again for all the info
