just flash the lf2 modem via odin worked fine for me

How did you do that ?
I tried to flash the LF2 modem (from Intratech site), and the result is that I can hear the other side and he can't hear me.
The ROM is LFB Odex without any mod.

I read that LFB ROM works only with LFB modem
Where did you read that are you confusing with custom modification that needs LFB modem .
jje

I read it in the LFB discussion theard. Tried it myself and no go. The other side can't hear me.

I changed modem to ELF2 ( swedish, danish 3) and it works just fine.
Maybe certain modems are incompatible.

[Q] Flash Firmware with different Modem

Hi,
Can I flash a firmware with a different modem.
For example:
My baseband/modem is XXKE7 and I want to flash the firmware XXKG2 from the firmware thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) since it's the newest firmware available.
Thanks in advance.
Yes it will either work better the same or worse .
I just have as a matter of fact flashed KG2 .
In that respect KG2 modem is giving me a much stronger WiFi signal at the extremes of range where other modems would have no signal .
measured by speedtest.net not the crappy wifi indicator on the phone .
jje
Will do absolutely no harm.
I flashed my phone too with XXKG2 and have used the FW with both, my original modem software as well as the KG2 one.
Apart from the fact that the KG2 modem indeed seems to be way better, they all worked fine
Thanks for the replies.
I flashed the XXKG2 firmware from the XDA firmware thread and all is fine =)
My modem gets automagically changed to XXKG2 as well.

I am also with FIDO and I should advise you that XXKG1 Modem is the best for that network. I get the highest signal and faster data.
I tried all modems currently with extensive testing.
You could download it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
assuming you have problems or if you wanna try different modems.
Only my advice tho.
Appreciate the advice.
Thank you

ICS XXLP question

I have installed ICS XXLPH and am quite happy with it in general. I was wondering if anyone can help me with regards to the following.
Can I install a different modem firmware instead of the std one in the phone? i.e. use the Gingerbread firmware?
Thx.
I'm using a GB ROM with an ICS modem, works like a charm... so I guess it must be okay the other way round.
yes, you can. also recommended that the kernel and modem are the same band as LPH, some users who tried the LPH + LPB or LP6 cobination, has reported problems.
Regards.

Kernel and modem do not need to be the same unless you actually encounter problems .
Problems are more to do with the fact the rom and kernel are Beta .
I am actually running the oldest modem of all KDH

Any modem is flash-able if it is made specifically for your Phone's model (I assume GT-i9100)...
I have just successfully flashed XXKI3 into XWLP2 ICS . I'll let you guys know if the signal improves, cause the stock one sucked!

Newbie question with firmwares LF3 vs LFB

Hi. New s3 user on o2 in the uk and new to Odin flashing etc. Recently flashed from a o2 firmware to non o2 stock firmware to get a more upto date version. I went from old o2 to samsung stock LFB firmware and it was great. I have since gone from lfb to lf8 but my radio is much worse so going to downgrade back to lfb BUT I just noticed there Is a new o2 version of lfb firmware on sammobile. The "pda" is the same but the "csc" are different, stock UK one is I9300OXABLFB and the o2 one is I9300O2UBLF3. What is the main difference and what does pda and csc actually mean. Theoretically speaking would the o2 lf3 csc have a better and more tailored radio compared to the stock lfb csc. Hope that makes sense to someone! as I said,I'm a complete newbie!
Thanks in advance.

try LFB
remember you can flash modems separately, so you could just revert to your old modem and keep the up to date firmware
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
CSC see PDA see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
Radio base band better for O2 possible but not probably better .
Need to ask O2 .
Difference no changelog published you need to read the firmware posts to find out .
Many posters no longer comment on a question if the answer can be found by using XDA rule one search first .

If I was to just flash the modem for LFB but keep firmware to Lf8, how do I do this with Odin, tick phone instead of pda and still point to the downloaded 780mb file?

Help! I just reflashed back to LFB firmware and every 10 seconds I keep getting error message unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped. Ffs! Tried reflashing and rebooting but it's the same. What can I do?
Sorted it. Just deleted all details in the contact app and then problem went away!
I can't believe how much better my reception is with LFB radio versus Lf8 radio.

1. You need to download firmware for worth multicsc / the one for your region.
2. With 4.0.4 ROM, did you mean custom ROM or unmodified stock firmware?
3. If you really want to get a firmware with your country's csc code, then you have to post your country of choice/interest
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
I know it can make any sense, but on LPG (CSC = NEE) my mobile data doesn't work proprely .. even if i flash my old Modem and the good RIL (LPW) but when i come back to stock LPD ( CSC = LUX ) which is modem LPW my mobile data works perfectly !
So i think it's a CSC problem ? maybe with my carrier ?

No. Csc doesn't have anything to do with network signal.
Since your phone works perfectly, what do you want now?
I asked you some questions but you haven't answer them yet

Sorry by 4.0.4 i mean stock LPX but it has a NEE CSC .. So while surfing on internet with my mobile data, it doesn't work good ..
I just wanted to know if i can flash a NEE CSC firmware but change it to LUX ?
I'm pretty sure that's a CSC problem because when i flash a NEE CSC firmware with the same modem that used to work good on my old firmware it doesn't work .. But when i flash back a firmware with LUX CSC all works good, so now i want to flash LPX but it has NEE CSC ..
If your phone was branded (only one CSC) and you want to change it, than you must flash any stock multi CSC firmware (Odin will be the best solution in this case). Than you should change CSC manually with app or service code. You have already tried those steps but after flashing you must perform factory reset to rebuild csc system information and remove old csc from efs partition. Do this from settings menu or 3e recovery.
To fully remove brand and flush old CSC wipe is needed. Some informations about it are also stored in efs partition and sometimes flashing one file firmware doesn't change it.
If this will not help than you must flash 3 files firmware (which have included wipe commands in scripts). You will be able to change CSC without any problems.

Ok. Now I got your point but you must understand that because a modem works fine for you in your previous firmware does not necessarily means it will work the same way. That's why we have different modems out there.
For example, my original modem, XXKE7 did not work well for me after I flashed to 2.3.6 gingerbread custom ROM, but XXKI3 worked perfect for me. On upgrading to ICS it was XXKI4 that worked best for me and since moving to Aosp based Roms, XXLPW is the one working best for me.
I hope you get this now.
CSC has nothing to do with network signal. The same way modem does not affect WiFi performance.
90% of custom Roms out there have unknown/no CSC, and Network signals work perfect for people using them. You only need to find the right modem, this is not constant.
End.
To the main issue:
If you still want to flash the Rom with your country's CSC, then let me know your COUNTRY of choice.
