Good day, i'm new here.
I have a rooted Motorola Droid RAZR XT910 using doomlord. Last sunday night, i received a notification that i can upgrade my device to ICS which all of us we're waiting. Upon my first attempt to update, i failed, so i tried to unroot it using doomlord unroot, then failed again. Root using motofail and failed, unroot using doomlord again, then factory reset (wipe format); wipe data and wipe cache. But upon downloading the OTA ICS it always keeps me saying "The software update failed" right before the mid part of installation then it showed an exclamation mark.
I made several factory resets and i know my phone is no longer rooted but everytime im installing the OTA ICS it keeps me always saying The software update failed.
Any help is very much appreciate.
Btw, my current GB version is 65.1.40.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03.

Have you all uninstalled/froze any system apps?

If so...you would have to reinstall/unfreeze any and all that apply. System apps are any apps that came with your stock ROM.

Alright so,
My phone is rooted and I have lag fix. I just updated my phone today with the new software and my screen is stuck on Verizon wireless.
I imagine I need to go into recovery mode and apply an update.ZIp?
Is this correct? Any other way to fix this?
Anyone have an upate.zip they can send me?
Thanks.
So MT phone boots up all the way but all I get is fc and not able to do anything besides trying to close them.

i'm in the same boat, the update.zip isn't signed so it won't install.
So I put the update.zip file on my card tried loading and it says
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
What do I need to do to fix this.
Please someone smarter then me help.
thanks in advance.
follow this your going to have to go back to stock, then redo root and everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782204
Also, Do not install the Verizon update, it is not made for rooted phones. Wait for one of the devs to post a root friendly verizon update.
OR i think you can get the update after you go back to stock, and then redo root.
The devs have released a signed version

if your talking about the on jt1134 released, it's not the full update. his only updates the radio.
I tried loading ICS to my Droid Razr using Droid Razr Utility 1.7. It failed with a Status 7 error and now my phone is stuck in 3G only. It wont connect to LTE. Can someone please help me out?????
So you're still on .181?
I have written a guide (posted under development forums by user streetmedic) to manually update to the 4.0.4 ICS OTA which should help you out,
The side load 7 error is usually caused by either the need to wipe data/cache or the 1.7 utility did not successfully flash the ICS recovery.
When you boot into recovery, is it a picture of an android laying down, with a red exclamation triangle over it, or a different image? The image described indicates you are definitely using the ICS recovery which the 1.7 utility installs. If it's different, try the utility again.
If that's not the issue, while in recovery do a wipe data/factory reset AND wipe cache. After completing both of these, turn the phone off, reboot back into recovery, and install the update. Any further issues can be resolved in the development thread. This should however, fix your problem and get you on the OTA.
That was the guide I used and yes I'm still on .181 with ICS recovery. I'll give a shot again and let you know the results. Thanks
If it still gives you any issues you can use matts 1.6 utility to fastboot a fresh 181 system, then restart my guide. Best of luck
Worked like a charm!! Thanks!!!!

Ok where do i start? Gonna try and be brief as possible. So today i was gonna update to ICS ota. I uninstalled safestrap first cause i was gonna reinstall the ics version using the Razr Utility ver. 1.7, as well as use to reroot. After i uninstalled the safestrap app i tried to install the ota i just took. Well it failed. I rebooted my phone and the Safestrap (SS) splash screen still popped up. I tried to reinstall the SS app using Razr Utility 1.6 (that i used to install in the first place) and it failed saying "failed to find path" or something similar. Weird caused it worked to install before. So now i cant get the SS app back to try and uninstall the actual recovery. Make sense? I was gonna try and load a Nandroid, but it was made back when i was still on .173. Can i go back to .173 and then reupdate to .181 and try again? Can anyone help me sort this out? I know its a lot to swallow Thanks in advance to anyone willing.
Edit: I am a moron. Trying to install Safestrap failed because I temp. unrooted with Voodoo before trying the update and forgot to allow root again. Thought I was past the noob stage.

I have a Razr XT910 (Rogers, Canada) running stock ICS 4.0.4 which I rooted using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
After rooting, I deleted some system apps (Rogers bloatware etc). Today, I got a notification of Jelly Bean update. After downloading, when I chose to install it, my phone restarted and at about one third of the process, restarted again and came back to ICS. And then a popup came up saying "Update failed!".
I read that this is because I touched the system folder. So I unrooted it using SuperSU app present. And then did a factory reset erasing everything from the phone. All those crap apps are back now. But when I check for system updates, it says "Your device is up to date". How do I update my phone to stock JB ?
Thanks for your help!
Wait for some time. You might get a notification again.
If in hurry..Go for manual update.

I'm not in a hurry. But it got me worried when the update failed. Full unroot and factory reset is sufficient for resolving the update fail problem ?

When the update installation stopped, the phone rebooted back in ICS. At that time it gave an error "Update failed". That's all.

I was rooted with TWRP. I flashed stock using VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar. Phone boots and runs fine, but when in stock recovery I see a red triangle in the androids belly, When trying to install the new update, I get a update failed, error 402. Any ideas?

All I know is that you need to be COMPLETELY STOCK. My assumption would be that NoWipe is leaving something behind that may be causing the problem. Otherwise it could be the flash count. I was getting the same problem and didn't want to risk trying triangle away so I called it quits.

I was stock rooted with cwm....I was also getting 402 after using no wipe..I wound up biting the bullet and flashed the full stock kernel...lost all my settings...hooked up the phone to the pc and installed the verizon update program...the new update came down with no problem....I did of course have to re customize my phone..no biggie since im a firm believer that you should do a factory restore after each update anyway
I was completely stock and rooted and updated whole retaining root.

I'm having the same issue. Had the pre-release kernel and stock root just to freeze apps. Got the error on the update so did no wipe which didn't work. Tried doing complete .tar and .pit restore then update and still getting the error. Checked the count in TA and it was at 0. Tried tether update and failed. Now i'm trying the tether repair tool which is currently running.
Forgot i even tried installing just the stock kernel as well with no effect.

Luck of the draw I guess. Not sure why it would work for me and no one else.
