this forum is for the Droid 2 Global, not the x2, so you might want to ask for help in the X2 forum, the phones are different.
In short, you can't ROOT 2.3.6, you have to SBF back to 2.3.4 > Root > RootKeeper Backup > Update > Restore Backup.
Check this LINK and this LINK for further details.
GL!
I dont see a reason to be on 2.3.6 anyways.... Sbf to 2.3.4 root, flash cm7, and wth do you mean you broke motorolas.... You have 3 x2s? Sbf will bring these phones back from damn near any issue

I was looking for any information on how to root Droid X2 I looked in the list and did not find it listed I know what rooting your phone is and I understand the benefits and possible side effects if done incorrectly I have tried to do as much research as possible and am still not finding the answers I am looking for. I have jailbroken iphones and ipod touches as well as unlocked many phones. The droid X2 has me still confused as to where even to begin the process of i have seen people call it Pre-rooting. I dont know what I should use as far as the rooting app with what my system is running nor can I seem to find anything on 2.3.4. hopefully maybe someone here can give me a step by step process to follow for what I need to have on my phone as far as apps software and so fourth to get my phone rooted. I have put all my phone information below. any advice tips or instructions would be much appreciated. I am a beginner at all of this new technology and am just trying to get into it so I am lousy with the abrev. like SPFing OTA ROM Nandroid?? Also Froyo dont really get where I can find any specific how to's on knowing what they do where you can find them what they mean. I believe froyo is something you go to for back ups other than that I am not quite sure. OTA I am guessing firmware?? I am truely at lose with all of it and would love to learn more. I am not planning on rooting my phone until I am absolutely sure that I can do it and that I understand every aspect of all the steps and programs involved. thank you in advance for any help or tips Droid X2 Android version 2.3.4
? Baseband Version n_03.13.28s ???
? Kernal version 2.6.32.9-00005-g2440aba ??
? ERI version 5 ??
?? PRL version 52522 ??? ANY ??? MEANS I DONT KNOW IF YOU NEED THIS
INFO. NOR DO I KNOW WHAT IT IS AND ITS
PURPOSE ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
Search, use it. You're welcome.
Check out the stickies and they will take you to guides depending if your on froyo (2.2) or GB (2.3). If your on froyo, I suggest upgrading by OTA (over the air) by going under menu, phone info, and upgrade. Then use the guides under the stickies to do zerg rush or Pete's one click root. The Ginger break doesn't work on our GB, I know, weird, but oh well. But use zerg or Pete rooting methods to root
You will know you have root by seeing super user app in your apps
Namdroids are back ups. It takes a "screen shot" of your whole system and saves it so you can restore and have everything EXACT how it was before! I use multiple nandroids to "dual boot" different ROMs. You can make nandroids with tenfars version of clockwork mod. You will need to install it after you root. It should tell you where and how in the guide you use.
Welcome to the DX2!

Go to the first post in devs section by booked. He has it all. Use Pete's one click root can not get any easier first. Then you can flash a custom rom just remember you need to wipe data and both cache in recovery. Also a nano back up is basically where you go into recovery and back up the rom where you are at that time. That wah if you mess up you can always go back. But yes go to that thread and read. Good luck.
Hi Forum. I need help. I rooted my phone before using motofail and the ICS is now available in my country.but the update failed/ and I verified that I need to unroot my phone first. Sorry, being kind of a noob myself i don't know how to post links just search the forums and look for videos on YouTube, that's what I did, because the razr has a locked bootloader it's very hard to really ruin it, seems the devs have a fix for everything ! Good luck

So just read and follow the instructions given here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748944

I don't know if this will let me post a link yet, but the "Literally Fool Proof Guide To Installing .211 (ICS)" (Google that) was the guide that got the update installed for me. It involved wiping the phone, but it's worth it since I had the time to go through my Titanium backups, etc. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692694
EDIT: BTW, I had to get Version 1.7 of Matt's DroidRAZRUtility to re-root after installing ICS 4.0.4 (i.e. the .211 update). Version 1.6 didn't root it. I did not need the "Modified" version 1.6, though; did the fastboot flashing with Matt's 1.6-final. I also had to install updated Motorola drivers (came with DroidRAZRUtility1.7forICS.zip) to reroot.

So I rooted my phone about 3 days ago using a not so popular method i think. I rooted my phone without using a computer or a dock and pushed the tmp file with terminal emulator. That's not my issue though. My issue is that I attempted to install cm9 but I F**cked up because i am new at this kinda stuff. Now My phone is bricked and all it says is "failed to boot 2 starting RSD mode" I cant do anything though. I am downloading 1FF sunfire user 2.3.4 zip i have RSDLite 5.5 I cant seem to find the SBF for it.
If someone could help me by giving me step by step instructions it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
I need Urgent Help as I am leaving out of town this weekend and I need my phone working by then. PLEASE HELP
Thanks,

Mario did you do the OTA to 2.3.5? If so you have a expensive paper weight. The new OTA doesn't allow flashing.

No worries, you'll be fine. Sounds like you're having the same problem as another gentleman we've been helpin for the past couple days. You've flashed a rom that you can only use while having an unlocked bootloader. Please refer to my post in his thread right here for a link to an sbf and video directions. This will only work if you rooted while you had 2.3.4. If you took the recent ota update from moto that put you on 2.3.5 then I can't help you.

You can root 2.3.5 just fine. You just can't install custom ROMs if you had it. No you're not bricked, it would have just been an easy fix if you tried this while having 2.3.4 installed. If you had 2.3.5, you just made it extremely difficult on yourself. Hope isn't lost, your just out of my area of expertise. Should have read around the forums a bit more, the 2.3.5 issue is common knowledge round here.
i totally used to be tech savy and had my old droid rooted with the rom miui loaded on it... i just recently got the droid x2 (2.3.5) and i do not know how to mod it...
reasons i am started a new thread is because i have a mac and all the supported threads on here are not only for windows, but for 2.3.4...

First you need to root, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818758
and if you are on 2.3.5 the only rom available is Eclipse, but its a good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I'd recommend sbf-ing back to 2.3.4 using RSD Lite. The X2 2.3.5 update, as far as I know, is not able to be rooted unless you root it while it's on 2.3.4 and then protect root before you apply the update. I'd go with the CM7 ROM which requires 2.3.4; been using it for 2 months with no issues.
2.3.5 is rootable, I know because I helped make it work, for the X2

Hello. I may be repeating some other threads, but I could not find the answer. Is there a one click or other method to root a CDMA Motorola Droid Razr after update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2? The phone has never been rooted before.
Thanks guys!

There is a fix for those who were rooted and lost root during the update....
It is in this thread somewhere (sorry I don't have time to find it) You had to heve Voodoo OTA rootkeeper to start out with for the utility to work.
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...original-verizon-droid-razr-how-to-keep-root/
I'll keep browsing through what is or isn't compatible. Perhaps one of our amazing Dev's is already on this. Can't imagine it will be long
sicne you cant flash back to ics no, i voodoo'ed before i came over to JB and when when i checked root on JB with rootchecker from the app store it said it wasn't rooted, but titanium back up and other rooted apps said that the device was rooted properly. i ment to test it some more and make sure i was really rooted

I am in need of the same answer. Thanks for asking it.
If you were not rooted before updating to JB then there is no way (yet) to root JB.
I have to ask... Why would someone who was not rooted suddenly decide they needed root after updating? I can understand if you lost root due to being one of the ones that did get the OTA but why all of a sudden decide you need root.
Thread moved. Please post all questions here in Q&A in future.
Thanks

I am in the same boat as the OP so I will provide my reasoning for wanting root now.
This new stock JB load now forces a check against your verizon account when you attempt to turn on any form of tethering. This includes the builtin wireless hotspot AND unfortunately FoxFi wifi/bluetooth. So as of right now I went from an excellent mobile internet connection to share with my Asus TF700 tablet to now having no internet sharing capability.
Grrrrrrrrr......
I followed the thread's instructions above by using voodoo rootkeeper. (droidrzr - Matt's post: New JB update how to keep root)
When you are following Matt's instructions, DO NOT FORGET to update SU binaries. Do this before you protect root, then use voodoo to protect root, temp unroot. Then Protect root, then temp unroot AGAIN. Finally, PROTECT ROOT before you actually flash the update.
Worked for me like a charm. Now im trying to make a JB-leak rom

Unfortunately I got the true ota and thought it was an ICS update. So I didn't see the thread about the binaries so lost root and pulling my hair out till new root method comes out or I save enough for an S3 which ever comes first

same happened to me. Heard some of the devs are working though
Don't expect a quick solution for this from djrbliss...it is not likely to be coming soon.
Nobody else of his caliber is working on root exploits for Motorola devices unfortunately, and very few people understand the value and uniqueness of his contribution to the Motorola community.
He has rooted every Motorola device since the D3 and everyone who has used a rooted Motorola owes him a huge debt of gratitude.
Just sayin'...
I too lost root after my Jelly Bean update. Unless there is a better thread to keep my eye on, I'll keep my eye on this one for a rooting method for my RAZR XT912. If I hear of anything somewhere else, I'll come back here and let people know. I hope others will do the same.

First i would like to say i don't have this phone. But i was wondering if a sbf file could be put together like the one that is used to downgrade the D3. I don't know if this could be done from JB>ICS or not but i thought it might be worth a look. Droid 3 downgrade sbf
