My Xperia x10 phone is stuck with Andriod 1.6 because of the weak / faulty usb port. But Im fine with It and use It for months.
But since this early last month (June 2012) until now, I cant watch good quality videos of Youtube anymore. Its not in mp4 format now. Im sure. Because when I use my firefox in my pc and go in the URL m.youtube.com, I see the stream link of any video been changed. The last URL or format of the link became .3GP
Sample..
rtsp://v8.cache1.c.youtube.com/CjYLENy73wIaLQl1N2y7clN6ThMYDSANFEIJbXYtZ29vZ2xlSARSBXdhdGNoYPCDwfejir7-Tww=/0/0/0/video.3gp
Im sure before Its not in 3GP format. I know Its in .MP4 before. But now, Its became 3GP?
Is there any other way I can watch again good quality videos of Youtube? Like before in MP4 format?
And for infos, I can watch good quality of videos in MP4 format I think. But only in other website/s like m.wimp.com
Only this Youtube now where I cant watch good quality of videos anymore. I can watch videos on Youtube but In a very low
quality. Because Its changed now to 3GP format.
And again..
Is there any other way I can watch again good quality videos of Youtube? Like before in MP4 format?
not possibly buddy, unless u install 2.1
try AOSP 2.1 rom (not customised version) meaning 100% pure 2.1 port for x10.
i try to help u find link.
edit: i found the link. they even have a youtube screenshot.
screenshot (may need login to see): http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...9c3598905af/4ffd4d48/4/6/4/1/5/8/device-4.JPG
rom thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835308
do this.
1) enable usb debugging, stay awake, unknown sources.
2) install z4root.
3) install busybox
4) install xRecovery
5) wipe data, cache, dalvik
6) fix permission
7) install custom zip> the downlaoded zip rom file
8) reboot phone
BEFORE U DO THE ABOVE, TRANSFER THE FOLLOWING TO UR SD CARD VIA BLUETOOTH OR CARD READER:
1) xRecovery.apk
2) BusyboxInstaller.apk
3) z4root.apk
4) rom.zip
5) rom update.zip (optional)
YOU DONT NEED A USB PORT TO FOLLOW MY METHOD BECAUSE 2.1 is usable in the same baseband and kernel as 1.6.
To update kernel or bb, u need usb port. but, u dont need it if upgrading to 2.1
good luck

Hi , I am a complete novice,
just bought an xdaII phone and my previous phone was a nokia 3210 so this is a large step forward for me.
i have a few questions which may already be in the forum but i cant seem to find.
firstly this is my set up:
ROM version 1.72.00WWE
Rom Date 03/15/04
Radio version 1.17.00
Protocol version 1337.28ExtRom version 1.72.181
firstly can i upgrade this phone, and if so how?
and secondly i am having problems getting video files to work.
I have a video convertor called Easy Video to iPod MP4 PSP 3GP Converter
but none of what i convert seems to work.
can a mini mp4 player be installed also as the windows media 9 player will not play any of the files that i convert, including wmv files.(i have also tries mp4 and 3pg and avi...but none play)...i have also tried converting my video thru winavi....with no luck also

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Himalaya_2005_Kitchen
about video then easy way to watch mp4 files on the pc is quicktime
way too technical
i am a complete novice.
all of what i have just loked at looks like it was written by a neuclear scientist.
is there any advice on what i should do first for a begginer like myself please?
please forgive me for being so dumb but like i said my last phone was a nokia 3210 and what you have just directed me to is too advanced for my tiny brain to comprehend.
www.buzzdev.net
download the wm5 rom you want
the step by step instructions are inside the rar or zip file
or what ever it is
really easy if you just read and do as it tell you
I downloaded tcpmp and the video flash bundle and am still having problems watching anything on the media player.....any time I try to watch something it goes straight to the windows media player and I get an error message....what do I do now to make this work for me? thanks
I have this exact same problem. I've tried searching both xda and ppcgeeks but haven't found the solution, although it's rumored that Youtube has stopped working, I think?
Anyway, I've also tried rolling these into dcd's 3.0.4 kitchen with no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Open the file from within TCPMP rather than from file explorer. You can also change the file associations from within TCPMP for the type of file you are trying to view (.avi, etc).
Are you trying to watch from Youtube? If so, make sure you are not on m.youtube.com. The flash bundle works with the regular site.
You installed TCPMP and Flash Video Bundle Correctly right.
Install TCPMP into your SD CARD
copy the flash video bundle cab into the directory where TCPMP was installed
Once you have copied it over install Flash Video Bundle to SD Card
Make sure the file associations on TCPMP are checked to play the files that you want to play also.
tcpmp and video flash bundle resolved
I found a site that finally worked and fixed my problem: http://www.sprintmogul.net/Default.aspx?tabid=54&ptid=370&threadid=3334&forumtype=posts
thanks to everyone else who offered support w this
Quick Question ---
Would someone:
1. Point me to the location where Adobe Flash stores its temp files (FLV) on the G Tab (Latest VeganTab RC1 ROM, if relevant).
2. Let me know if there is a way to change the location and/or adjust the size of the cache. When playing videos (from various QSS Forum Links) video gets choppy and stops loading after a certain amount of time (dependent on the size of the download).
3. Is there software that allows one to rip FLV files to SDCARD rather than streaming them (akin to Download Helper in Firefox on Windows).
Thanks!

You need to find the full format information on these dotmp4 files then find a player if not convert .
jje
You say they won't even play on the phone now? Sounds like they have been corrupted somewhere along the line.
I suggest shooting a new video and retry the transfer process and see if you can identify how they got corrupted

update : i make my system image rw and i try to install ubuntu-restricted-extras but allways (unable to find ubuntu-restricted ...) if some one have idea i search and found how to install the thing but nothing work.
There's currently no way to make the ubuntu-restricted-extras PPA work on Ubuntu for phones (or at least I don't know of any).
If you want to ask for more supported codecs, file a bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mediaplayer-app
