I've been wondering that can the sony ericsson x8 users have a haptic/tactile feedback on pressing the hardware buttons? I found haptic feedback on hardware buttons in aroma installer while installing CM9 Crema de Nieve ISC ROM... son can we have it while using the phone normally like other phones like htc explorer, live with walkman having capasitive buttons do?

FXP's Cynogenmod 7.2 has this function. You may try it or ask FXP .
Already tried the CM7, but I more like a stock ROM.

actually long press can not be detected in stock roms.

if your on cm7 then you should be able to. go to cyanogenmod settings-input- volume button music cont. that should do it

An easier method would be to just bring it to a service center and tell them it isn't working. IMHO the camera button is not really great either.
So not sure if it's hardware or software related.
Cyanogenmod has light vibrate
Try pressing the home button repetitively realy fast
You should feel a vibration on CM11
