Hi,
when I reset my Optimus One with VolDown, Power + Home something got messed up and I received a phone where the desktop is not starting any longer.
After the above reset the setup screen appears where I can choose my language etc, but at the last step I get a force close message for the Setup Wizard every single time. When I then force close, the screen goes dark except for the status bar on the top.
After a while the phone autolocks and I can see the lock screen with moving grass and time etc. When I unlock, again the black screen with only the status bar on top.
The phone receives SMS messages and calls and shows the appropriate screen, just no desktop to choose any apps to start. I can even long press home and then get the recent apps screen with no apps to start.
Can someone help me to get my phone functional again?
Thanks.
Binser
seems like problem with your launcher app. use adb push command to push new launcher in your phone.
no debug

Yes that would be a good idea if I could enable USB debug. But I cannot get to the settings where I could enable USB debug, therefore ADB push is not a possible option for me.
u can log into your google account on desktop and install any launcher app from playstore , it will automatically get installed on your cell if your data is on.

Thanks again for ur input: But the VolDown Menu Power thing did a complete reset and therefore the phone is completely virgin, i.e. no google account is set-up.
While during initial boot the setup wizard comes up, I get the error message:
"The application Setup Wizard (process.com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
So I cannot setup a google account for this phone.
u may be able to go to contacts screen while on call. there u will have an option to add google account. try this n if this doesn't work try resetting your phone again.
Thank you! That did it! I called myself with another phone and during the call via the menu button I was able to go into the account section and add an account. Then the play store updated (some time is needed for registration to take hold on the play store web site) and then I installed the Go launcher via web install.
After I got access to the launcher, I immediately activated USB debugging in Settings > Application Settings > Development and also install from unknnown sources in Application Settings.
I wrote these details so that people with the same problem of corrupted launcher or setup wizard know what to do.
BTW before I tried numerous phone resets but none solved the problem.
Now I still have the following problem: To root a reset is suggested to have a clean file system. A reset however again gives me the above problem. How can I break that vicious cycle?
Again, thanks a million for your help.

No need of reset or so, just root and install clockworkmod recovery via ROM manager app, choose optimus 1 old baseband even if u r on new coz the recovery for old baseband is much more stable.
NOTE:-
do not choose to boot into recovery from ROM manager,u might end up at emergency mode. instead use the key combo to enter into recovery.
don't choose to factory reset from phone menu once u have installed custom recovery, instead do that from recovery.
Thanks, hephappy's ICS CM9 is running well now.
There is only one problem, possibly because I did not get your advice about old baseband in time: Cannot make or receive calls/texts, but I am being asked for SIM PIN and the phone shows the carrier ID in notifications.
My phone has the 20d baseband - is that the problem? Do I need to upgrade to 20g or would that not matter?
Regards,
Binser
OK, I flashed the 20G baseband and the problems are now history. I can make an receive calls.
There was a problem when flashing: The phone did not reboot into recovery mode. I had to do that manually and disable the LG modem. Then when the process was done I the phone showed 20G baseband, but no IMEI and network. I solved that by using the saved NV2 file in a subdirectory of the LGMDP.exe and the NV Restore button on the program icon bar.
Now everything is fine.
Again, thank you for your help.

Please Help!!!! I performed a factory reset on my ZTE Amigo and during the installation process, I received the message com.setupwizard failed to respond with the force close button below. After this point, the phone did not complete installation process. As of this moment, I could not access the menu nor settings either. I can only receive calls and nothing more. Sometimes the booting process ends at the android logo. my PC does not recognize the device anymore. Is there a way to hard reset the device while its off since I can't access the settings?
Hi guys, I have the same problem, Please help!:crying:
How i solved mine
If booting ends on the android logo, please try to call your number from another phone and hand up. This might make your phone to finish booting . When your phone is on successfully, you need to install a launcher in other to be able to access your menu again. So you need a keyboard shortcut to access your settings and set up mobile data. After configuration, you need a keyboard shortcut to open your phone browser and download any launcher of your choice. Don't follow play store links. I will post keyboard shortcuts soon.
I installed freedom about two months ago and ever since I've been getting the " No Connection Error". I've tried these and have
1. Resetting the phone ( both through settings and service menu. )
2. Re-installing Freedom, opening it and manual closing it, clearing data and uninstaling.
3. Made sure the # is in front of the second IP address in the host file.
4. Uninstalling and re-installing play store through Lucky Patcher
Could someone please help me get the play store working again.
Time
Make sure your date and time are correct. My table has this problem- whenever it shuts off or I have to re-flash a ROM the date and time get reset. If your date/time isn't close to the real date/time then google services don't work quite right.

I've never been able to flash my phone because the boot loader is locked.

My phone is a Xperia Ion LT28a thats rooted and has ics which was installed by default.
So, genius me got into stuff maybe I shouldn't have and now my p769 is not quite bricked... but is still quite useless. Perhaps the wonderful minds here can help me figure out how to make it useable again.
Starting at the beginning:
I downloaded the free SQLite editing apps from the play store and tried to edit the value of "data\data\com.android.providers.settings\database\settings.db" "tether_dun_required" and set it to 0, hoping to circumvent Tea Mobile's tether data limits.
The SQLite apps were not as user friendly as I had hoped; the first app seemed to give me an error when trying to set the value to 0; the next app seemed to indicate that the prior update command had worked (showing a 0 value); a third app seemed to indicate that the second app was mistaken and that the value was still "1". I finally downloaded a non-root enabled app, copied my settings.db app to a non-system folder, made the edit, and pasted the file back.
It is important to note that I was suspicious about why 2 other files from that same \database\ folder had seemingly disappeared but they were mysteriously disappeared, and there was not much I could do about it, so I continued on to test my wifi tethering.
The wifi tethering data limit bypass did not work, so I tried restarting my phone. The phone hanged at the T-Mobile splash screen (I was running stock V20f, rooted); the little dots on the original T-mobile splash screen were animated, but startup hanged at the splash screen.
I then did a hard reset (vol up + home + power button). This took an incredibly short amount of time (a few seconds) and then the phone restarted itself.
The phone boots into the LG/Android "Startup Wizard" and asks me to enter my google information, set up wifi, etc. I cannot set up anything because, for whatever reason, no keyboard will open. I choose "next" or "skip" to simply get to the point when the setup wizard says "Go to home screen". When I press "Go to home screen", the message comes up "You can return to this setup screen at anytime by launching the "setup" application from the application tray" and, when I press "OK", I see "Sorry! Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped". After I press OK, Startup Wizard app restarts again at the initial screen. It is an unending cycle. Even at that final screen before I press "Go to home screen", pressing "Sign in to Email" results in the same crash error message, pressing "Sign in to Facebook" results in "Warning Facebook app is not installed !! Don't test it" and "Set up voicemail" results in "Warning TMUS app is not installed !! Don't test it"
Home button does nothing, long pressing home button does nothing; back button does not exit the Startup wizard. I can't get into settings or any other app (except the browser if I press More Info when the Tmobile disclaimer comes up about anonymous diagnostic data). I don't have a custom recovery on the phone and I don't think I ever unlocked the bootloader. All I ever did was use cmahendra's offline fix to root.
I tried Cmahendra's offline kdz install again now but the phone won't be detected by the phone update software after 15%. I had this same issue when I first upgraded and rooted my phone months ago but then I could perform his workaround by starting the phone, and then setting the phone to reboot into Software Upgrade mode. Now I can't do that because I can't even pull down the notification bar in the Startup Wizard.
Can anyone point me to a way to get a reset to fully install a ROM? I will install custom ROM, Recovery, bootloader, whatever. It seems that everywhere I look for solutions to install a ROM, I need a custom recovery and to install those I need an unlocked bootloader and to install those I need to download files without any working links (many want me to visit mega.co.nz which results in a nice white cloud with an M in the middle and no download link).
I won't be able to troubleshoot this again until 6 or 7pm PST on 03/13/2014, but I am open to suggestions as to what is my best course.

I've actually just run into the same problem, only difference is I rooted my phone, then eventually uninstalled the system keyboard like a dumbass after I installed GO! Keyboard, on top of deleting the system home app after installing ADW launcher. Then last week I accidentally knocked into a can a beer while I was sleeping, soaked my phone and panicked, turning it on and resetting it (don't ask me why that was my first instinct...), then rice-bowling it for 5 or 6 days....Now it turns on, the screen is visibly waterlogged but still fine, however I'm stuck in that same exact infinite loop you speak of. The voice recognition obviously doesn't work either. And even if it did I'm betting the home app being gone it'd still go "Sorry! Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped".
All that is to say, I'd really love some input from anyone whose run into this problem like me and this guy^. I read somewhere on these forums that there's an 'emergency firmware recovery' tool in LG PC Suite, so i'm following up on that atm, but it doesn't seem promising because LG PC Suite won't detect my phone anymore
pls send help :silly:
Wow. WOW. After about two hours of searching these and other forums/pages I've solved the issue; I had to keep messing around but I actually skipped some of the steps listed and still got it done, I basically just booted the phone into s/w upgrade mode without the battery, then instralled the drivers for it's specific mode about two or three separate times (I attempted all the downloads I had just to be safe, and actually restard the computer or anything), then ran the lg mobile update tool. it took about 20min and after it was finished the phone just rebooted, and my home launcher, along with the voice recog was able to be used, however limited, didn't care really because I finally got past the f-ing "Sorry! Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped". As I type this I'm using voice recog to search for a keyboard apk file. Hope this helps.

I noticed, when switching to a new phone and try to restore, sometimes I see a list of my other phones I used before. And the one I just used says: last used 4 days ago. but I just used it all the time! So it seems the backup is not happening every day.
Not sure how to help you.
Maybe just download your apps manually. Go to play store -> my apps -> all. touch and hold to select all the apps you want and click install. fast and easy.
Or install CloneIt on both phones.
Old phone is sender, new phone is receiver. Let them connect with each other and on receiving phone tap apps and confirm, cloning get started
A family member gave me his old phone which is an Alcatel Pixi 4 6" 3 GB model 8050D. I didnt knew about this protection until it was too late and I wiped all the data so now Im stuck at the FRP and gmail asking "enter your old gmail account"...
After fighting the phone all I can do is enter fastboot mode and connect it to the PC using fastboot mode, I also can add things to the internal storage via USB cable, but adb.exe says that there is nothing connected in fastboot mode, and I cannot turn on USB debugging cause I cant get to settings.
I watched in the internet a video where people use an USB stick with an adapter and they install an apk within it but Im not sure if that will work and I dont have that adapter.
So my question is... Is there any way I can bypass this?
Now that I think, I have read something about 72 hours but I have read already several articles and I dont completely understand what it means. Will I able be log a different google account after 72 hours or is it something else? I dont mind to wait if its the first case.
Thanks you for your help
Note: I have read some about this and since this is an anti theft method and Im asking how to break it I might seem suspicious... I am not a thief but I cant really prove it in here -_-

Hello,
can't you use the setting hotkey to access the keyboard settings and change keyboards? or it directs you to the keyboard app itself?
you must then get the frimwire of the phone and flash it using flash tool
Good luck!
