Hi, I went out and bought one last night. Great looking phone, quite impressed.
On all my wm phones I have ran a profile management software that has a timed profile switcher. I tried PhoneAlarm SP which is great, but I realised there's no easy way to manually switch profiles whilst using the HTC home screen. I could use the inbuilt profiles, but that doesnt give me the automatic timed switch.
Anybody know any programs that will use the inbuilt profiles but add on the timed functionilty?
CTScheduler? I use their alarm master, and i love it (since two alarms just is never enough). CTScheduler does a lot more than just switching profiles, but maybe its still of use for you.

actually, if u dont want the bulk of the stuff the main prog can do, u could also just use the lite version (only profile switching and timed start of programs). this one is free...

Thanks for that. Will give that a try, does that give timed profiles? i.e. switch between profiles at certain times during the day?
WMS standard profiles have special "Automatic" profile, which switched between profiles based on your calendar appointments. I haven't used it though, so couldn't comment on how well it works.

I used this a lot on my old S710 and now on my S740 and this works really well as long as your calendar is a true reflection of what you are doing.
Where it really works well is where you go into a meeting, you don't need to worry about switching your phone to silent as it does it for you.
Hello, i am starting to become paranoid about going outside with my galaxy tab because i am afraid it might get stolen. I am looking for a good app to let me track any possible thieves like the ones ive seen many times for pc, that let you get the almost exact location where the lost item (phone, pc etc) is and automatically take pictures and screen captures.
The ome iwanted to try is Prey (because it a chilean software, hehe) but for android devices it only tracks the position, but nothing else, and i think it is kind of usseles as yiu dont get a 100% accurate position and it is usseles if the adress you get is a building with 100+ people living in it.
Also another issue with prey and othe simmilar software is the they only work on android cellphones where you have to send a text message to activate the tracking mode, but i cannot do that in a wifi inly galaxy tab.
So, do you guys have any recommendation for a nice software? I am lookin for so ething simple that runs in the background and doesnt disturb me. (and of course.... Free)
Thanks in advance
Samsung actually have features built into the gal tab 10.1 for this.
Go to samsungdive.com. If you are signed into your samsung account on your tab, then you can start using it straight away i think.
In terms of other software, androidlost has heaps of features for free. It doesn't rely on text messaging. The design is pretty terrible, but hey, its free.
Lookout has a product called plan b. It always you to install the app remotely and tell you where it's at. But needs an Internet connection.
I don't think its honeycomb compatible but its one to watch out for.

Another option is Norton mobile security for android. This one I have tried and it works on my Samsung galaxy tab.

I also have the Samsung configured on my tab. Yeah lots of overkill

Did you managed to get it working for Wifi version? It does not work for me.
thanks for all the info. I tried the samsung thing, but it didnt work .
Lookout seemed like a good alternative but it is not supported on tablets.....
I also gave a look at some of this applications (http://lifehacker.com/5832947/five-best-phone-recovery-tools) but they are all phone-related.
Guess we just have to wait a little more for some apps to be released for wifi-only devices............
I have used both androidlost and seekdroid on my galaxy tab 10.1
So there are apps that work on tablets
I like prey
http://preyproject.com/
Very cool, and it's free. It can take snapshots from the camera, use closest wifi spot to send ip address and info, you can sound an alarm or lock the device out. There are a lot of options. It allows 3 devices for the free version.
yeah, i also like prey, but it doesnt work with the wifi only tab as it requires and SMS to be sent to the device for activation

It does work. You first have to add your samsung account on the tab. under settings then accounts/sync, add account, then click samsung account. Its the only way samsung knows you actually have a samsung device. Btw it works pretty good. Best of all, its free,
Tab left on plane
Hi, so what would you recommend to find one left on plane, with sim card but in airplane mode, wait and see if someone gets through the security to see where it is or is there a way of forcing the tab to turn itself on?
thanks in advance

I tinkered with Cerebus on my Tab, seems to work just fine (wifi only). I've been using this on my Android phone. Can attach up to 5 devices.

As long as there is battery, you can track your device's location, log app activity, send a message/VERY audible alarm to the device, take a screenshot, take a picture with front or back camera, a few other options. Obviously, app needs to be loaded on the device BEFORE you lose it.
Works great!
great, i will check it immediately. Thanks!
i just checked it, it looks very good. Saddly its not free, but it is extremely cheap, so i think i will buy it once i get home. thanks again.
AndroidLost is a great app and works perfectly with GalaxyTab 10.1
register your device with your samsung account and use samsungdive.com
works great for sgs, sgs2 and sgt7500
I was using Prey on my laptop and all phones
Does anyone know if the U.S. (Sprint) GSIII's will be able to use the Samsung Dive Remote Controls? It looks like you can lock, wipe, backup, locate your phone all from a computer. Right now I guess just the EU phones can do this because "settings - security - remote controls" isnt even an option on my GSIII.
I know Sprints Total Equipment Protection App (found in app market) can do all of these things. But it would be cool to use the Samsung one until the GSIII is supported by the TEP App.
I ran into the same problem last night when trying to get this to work. Even on the Samsung Dive site, the Remote Control link doesn't work. Someone said that it isn't available in the US, but mentioned an app that works pretty good instead. I forgot to bookmark the thread before I went to bed last night, so can't tell you the name of it, but I'll be looking for it today. I remember it started with a C.
These look like they would be fun to have:

If they start approaching US$25, I'll probably grab one.
ive got one. its a nifty little gadget.

Mine arrived from Best Buy today. Does anyone know if there's a way to keep the proximity functionality without having the notification always show in the notification bar? I went to app settings, and it's not allowing me to disable it.
in the stock config, the icon is there when activated, just like the nfc icon.

marctronixx, I think I recognize you from a few previous phone forums. :good:
This device sounds like it wold be an ideal 'Trusted Device' along the lines of the Moto-X implementation where the phone lowers its security barriers when paired with a specific Bluetooth device. I've even suggested as much to HTC.
I'm wondering... Have you tried it with any of the myriad of tasker-like apps out there to try to replicate the feature?
hey!
ive only used it as directed, but if you pose a scenario i can experiment with, perhaps i can help you answer your question?
@marctronixx
Big apologies for long delay.
Here is a scenario... There is an app called Pebble Locker that although designed for a Pebble watch, allows any BT device to act as a trusted connection and automatically disables PIN lock. If no Pebble or other trusted device is conected, PIN lock returns. (Unfortunately it doesn't work with pattern lock or fingerprint scan). The idea is that if you have a separate device near the phone, it lowers the barrier. If you leave the device, the barrier rises again. I'm hoping the Fetch would work for that as it would almost always be in my pocket or nearby.
Of course, it would be better if it was something built in to HTC devices. Some time ago I stumbled across their SDK and it seems to be pretty powerful but I'm not a programmer so...
-Separate note: I've seen some discussions that the KitKat update on the HTC One's breaks Fetch. Not too many confirmations, but no denials either.
Hello! I have 2 Fetchs. One for the One Max and One for the One m7. My Fetch works great with One m7 on Kitkat.
Cannot find the discussions... I´m curious

Glad to hear it. I found a couple of places where two or three people reported problems.

http://htcsource.com/2014/02/sprint-releases-htc-one-android-4-4-2-update/
Just search 'fetch' within the threads. I found them today by Googling 'HTC Fetch KitKat not working'
@Faxman, thank you. No Problems here. Fetch and Kitkat does the job. Pi pi pi pi pi pi pi pi
Looks like Best Buy US is starting to sell the Fetch for $29. Looks like I'll be owning one soon.
I got my Fetch from BestBuy (see above) and it works as advertised. Only 75% battery charge out of the box.
It indeed showed up as a Bluetooth device in Pebble Locker (see farther above) so I am able to set the phone to remain unlocked while in range of the Fetch and PIN lock if not.
Now, for all you actual developers out there, here's a link to the SDK for the Fetch. Let the fun begin.
I installed the Sprint OTA KitKat update yesterday and the fetch continues to work... sort of. I've found that if I turn the fetch off I have to go in and find it again and pair again.
I also noticed and downloaded the HTC Fetch app in the app store.
It has a nicer interface and apparently a couple of additional features (including the ability to connect to other BT 4 devices)
It apparently connects differently as you can run it without it being paired in regular BT settings and it doesn't retain the annoying Fetch icon in the notification area. BUT, since it no longer shows as a BT device, the Pebble Unlocker app that I use to simulate 'trusted device' doesn't see it and doesn't keep the phone unlocked.
I'm hoping there will be some interest in the developer community because I think there are some enhancements that can and should be made to either or both of the apps.
For one, I'd like to be able to disable change the tone or somehow further delay the alarms that go off when out of range. I do that far too often. However, when that feature is disabled, it also disconnects the BT connection and as above defeats the trusted device functionality mentioned above.
I mostly want to use it so my phone is secure if I'm not nearby and occasionally use the separation alarm feature if I am in a situation where one or the other might be left behind.
i have not noticed any issues with fetch after the sprint 4.x update. im stock non rooted.
thanks for the heads up on a fetch app. ill go smoke it over...
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend any apps that are good at find my phone, I have the samsung setup but wanted to ask if there was anything more effective etc ?
Thanks
I primarily use the Google one. By default Google tracks the locations of the device and such, and I believe you can ping your phone account side, but I have the actual app installed as well from Google play. If you're using the Samsung one as well, it won't hurt. Make sure in phone settings for the find my device, that you enable "send last location" before phone dies as an extra precaution.
I've lost my s7 edge once, tracked it with google one. Combined with samsung watch to measure10m range of bluetooth connection. Found it inside taxi.
