I haven't been able to get it to learn anything through my limited testing, but my suggestion, and yes this will cost you (but worth it, I guarantee) is to get SwiftKey. It is one of the best keyboards for Android hands down. And it will learn your slang, just type it once, then click on the way you spelled it up in the row of predicted text, and it from then on knows that. The more you type the more it learns. I've had it complete whole sentences for me before xD

Thanks very much for this link.
I was starting to hate the samsung keyboard. I turned off the T9 but the predictive text I like and tried to use it, unfortunately the samsung one was bad and had to turn it off as well.
With this ICS keyboard the predictive text is soo much better.
Thanks again.

That keyboard is frigging sweet. I've had nothing but good things to say.. it makes me feel at home again.. thanks for the help

[Q] Swype vs shapewriter

Anyone have any feelings on this?
I've tried swype and loved it, is there any benefit of shapewriter?
It's been a while since I've used shapewriter but I remember it being better with it's prediction and usually types the right word more often

i totally agree i have shapewriter and have used it for quite a while i found it to predict better and is smoother and in general if im not mistaken its smaller in size (kb) than swype
If it's legal, can anyone post an apk for shapewriter? I'm a swyper but I'd like to give shapewriter a try. If not, I'll try to find it elsewhere. Tia

Subwoofer.apk v0.0

can someone make an app the can take the lower range audio and make it corisponed with the vibration ringer in your phone.
Its just for fun but it would be cool.
and kill your batt.
but i have seen it on a sprint phone alone time ago it was dialed in and it
was awsome!!
like so the bass hits on a ring tone and you feel it in your pocket. hehhe
if some one is willing to do this im am willing to donate =)
So all this app would do is play a very low pitched sound or would it need to be a specific frequency for this to work?
No. He means that use the vibration to imitate a subwoofer. That would sound pretty cool. Maybe just a novelty app but definitely cool nonetheless
My old nokia use to vibrate with the beat/pace of the polyphonic ringtone.
Id love to enable that feature on my vibrant!!

I would love to have this on my vibrant too,all the major companies used to have this on their normal phones, they were called vibtones,I don't know why they stopped.
This would be pretty cool.

I think that's kind of rude I mean he created the app I mean I u dersta d if you helped him encode but if all you did is create the thread you don't need any thinks IMO but ofcourse its the devolopers choice

He has a good point. You don't just create a ROM overnight just because you had this idea doesn't mean you get credit for it. He was more than likely already working on it

This thread is 2-3 years old. So eventuality some one will make the app because its a cool idea.
Ya guess given enough time some random person will do it on there own.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using XDA Premium HD app
I think that what happened was quite the opposite. The dev created the app, and then he was searching on google for threads of people asking about such app, and posting the link. I don't really think that the idea came from this thread because it was posted 2 years ago. It would not take 2 years to develop that app.

Any chance of getting this app compatible with 2.2 Froyo? I like my 2.2 Roms too much to upgrade. JellyBean has GPS problems and 2.3 is terrible IMO. Maybe you could post the apk and I can see if it works? Playstore won't let me download, says incompatible device unfortunately.

[Q] picture shows up as video

So I couldn't find a solution to my problem, when I receive a picture it shows as a video. I'm running unnamed. Is there a mod or something to fix this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I have the same problem.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
the only real fix to this is to use a different SMS/MMS app. i prefer GOSMS Pro, over anything else.
its just the way the stock messaging app works, only way around it is through a third party app.
Go SMS Pro is much better then the stock sms/mms app
Holy crap! I just answered this very same question in another thread maybe 5 threads above this. How many times is this going to be asked? I'm too lazy to check which thread was first and I will admit that the XDA search feature is a bit annoying to use, but for FFS! Now I see why the older members are always *****ing.
That said, I will add substance to this post. I just switched to Go SMS Pro this morning and have to second the suggestion for it. It has been working fine for MMS and they come across just as expected.
Thanks for your opinion but its not an answer but just a work around. Thanks

cool story bro.
how long before this thread gets shut down now?
Ugh, another one of these threads? Thats what the search button is there for. The stock messaging app from Samsung uses the video viewer to view all multimedia, so that includes pictures. If you want pictures to come up in the gallery, I suggest you replace the Samsung MMS.apk with the AOSP MMS.apk.
Also, calling people a **** for telling you what to do or look for (while it may not be the answer that you were looking for) is not the way to get anything around here... and it will get you an infraction/ban if kept up.
Thread closed.

Google Now rarely responds.

I don't know if this is better suited in the Jellybean thread, but I'd hate to see this drowned among the 100's of posts every day in that thread.
I am Swedish, but I've set everything possible to English (US) and to use Google.com instead of Google.se and to always speak back, yet it rarely does. It also completely ignores statements and only googles them. LIke if I say: "I can count to potato", it searches the web for it rather than throwing me a sassy comeback or whatever.
Google now only gives back useful information .. no jokes and useless chats.

That was a bit of a let down. I guess I've always expected Now to be a little chatty. Looks like I'm gonna have to find some other app for the actual chat.

Yes they do, but hopefully you as well
Try vlingo or just use s-voice (based on vlingo like siri).
Iris would also be something you could try, it's almost only usable as chat bot.
Google now is to get informations or handle tasks, no chat bot.
