To change stock email background dark color - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any idea how to change stock email dark background to white one, as G- MAIL has? Assume the reason is battery saving, in spite of that I would appreciate your clue.
Cheers, Majjjjo

Nope
Sorry, haven't got a clue.
But your question has answered one of my worries regarding the phone as I am still waiting for it.
Thanks for sharing, I won't be using the solution someone more informed hopefully posts.
Cheers mate.

Thanks mate. In any case for me it is immensely important as approx. 150-175 emails everyday in my box. Most of them have to be replied and dark background doesnt looks convenient. If no chance with any ROM flash, I come back to TouchDown that I purchased long ago and works fine (just doestn show number of emails in its own icon/shortcut)
Ciao all.

How to change background color
For general e-mail, if you are running ice cream sandwich, you should be able to change the text color and background color by simply clicking on the menu button. There should be a background color and font color. I was wondering, I updated to the nowipe VRBLK1, and I can no longer change the background color for my email. Did they take this feature out?

[Q] BAMF Stripped 1.7 questions

So I just installed das bamf stripped 1.7 and I really like it, however there are a few things I would like to tweak. First, is there a way to change the color of say the loading bar for the internet? It is the stock green color right now. Normally one would just go to personalize and then change the "scene". This would also change the icon press color. I want to go with a blue color I think. Secondly, is there a way to get some of the HTC widgets back? I liked the full screen calendar which is still an app, but no longer in the widget section. Couldn't find it in the market either.
Thanks for the replies,
Josh

The loading bar can be done, unfortunately I don't know how, you could pm a themer and they could probably help you with that.
You can't use any HTC widgets unless you are using the Sense interface. BAMF stripped is "stripped" of Rosie (Sense), that is why the widgets are no longer there.
Thanks for the reply. Yea I figured I may be out of luck on the calendar widget. Hopefully there is a way to change the color.
Ok, I figured I would just ask in here instead of starting a new thread. Is there anyway to adjust the min and/or max volume settings for the ear piece? I have my volume all the way down and it sounds like people are screaming at me and I have to physically hold the phone away from my ear.
Thanks,
Josh
^^up for sound issues on ear piece. Anyone have some input?
I don't have any problems with that, but I believe there are apps on the market that can further control the volume. I'm not sure of their names though, but I have seen others mention them here in the forums.

Dark Notification Text

A little thing but annoys me... When i get a notification from CNN for example the text is black and you cannot read it in the notification center... Is there a way to change the text color?
The system has global light and dark colors. If the app writer forces a specific color, like black, it can cause problems like that. If the app writer refers back to system colors, they will automatically present in a readable format. Unfortunately, in this case, its a poorly written app reference forcing black text, and your only choice to be able yo read it is to try a theme with a light color background in the notification shade. Serendipity 8 has a white background in there, so that would make it readable.
Long story short, no, you cannot change the text color.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I get the same problem with Facebook notifications
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Pandora and Power AMP also do this. It really drives me nuts.

That's an issues with the theming of certain roms. installing a third party launcher such as go launcher EX or one of the others may help.

I don't think so. I have the stock ROM w/ root. It's an issue with the stock firmware

[Q]Changing colors on CM7's MMS.apk

I realize this question may be better suited for the development forum, but I'm going to give it a shot here so I don't have to spam the forums to get to the required post count to post there.
If I were interested in changing certain colors within the CM7 messaging app, which files would I need to edit to do this? For example, the background color for incoming messages is an extremely light blue that may as well be white, and it is hard to distinguish from outgoing messages. Where can I find the file that contains that color information, and what would I need to change?
And before people jump on the "just use GoSMS/Handcent/etc." wagon, I'll say that I have tried those and haven't found one I like yet. I appreciate the barebones nature of the default messaging app that comes with CM7.
Look through the settings of CM7's mms app. There is an option to change the colors to black and gray.

Droid Razr and GO SMS?

Anyone else using GO SMS with the Razr? If so the theme you have selected for the app, is your background being cut off below your list of text messages? I have tried several themes and compared side by side with my old Galaxy S phone and can not for the life of me figure out why its doing it. Here are a couple of pictures showing it.
I am really liking GO better than Handcent, but the breaking of the theme although minor is still driving me crazy since its destroys the theme lol.
Thanks for anything! Looking forward to trying out some Roms in the future!
Just tried adding a custom background to check whether the same would happen, and no I didn't notice any oddity. Displays full screen as normal
Thats odd....I've got two brand new Razr's. Only thing I've done was to root them so I could restore other apps. Both of them do it as you can see in the pics. Guess I'll try clearing data and uninstalling and re-install and see what happens lol.
I've cleared all data related to GO SMS and uninstalled both it and the theme. Reinstalled and still it will not show a background on the message list within GO SMS. If you scroll left or right within GO SMS to the Application Center or the GO Chat screens the background is there.
Not sure what else to really do here....
Recent updates still haven't cleared this up. Anyone else have this issue on their razr's??
Seems odd I have two of them that are doing this. Its not a big deal, just kinda disappointing since I've purchased some themes that now don't display right.
When looking at the screen where it lists different text messages mine looks the same as yours, theme color on the people and grey under but it's full screen theme color when I click on individual txt conversations.

Well I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one then. I've tried to email the developer but emails seem to go unanswered. Not sure what is different from this phone and my old Galaxy S, but it looks fine on my old phone.
Must just be the Razr, I checked my wifes LG Revo and her screen is theme background all the way down.

Maybe after some new roms or ICS comes out this will be changed. Just wonder if its something with GO SMS or something with the Blur on the Razr.

Old Thread

Started a new thread with more colour options, the op was getting too crowded
So I'm sharing a theme I made for anyone else that wants a lightweight theme.
Main changes from stock:
-iOS inspired dialer.
-Dark switches, system settings & quick settings icons.
-Changed brightness & volume sliders.
-Google sans font
-Darker text in some areas & and some system dialogue box backgrounds.
Only tested on my Mate 20 Pro, but will try to fix any errors if any are found.
Just remove ".zip" to use the theme
Thanks to @maurydes for allowing me to use some elements from his blue gradient theme, can be found here:
https://themesmanager.app/links/aGJU
*Launcher Icons made with Iconpackstudio:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ginlemon.iconpackstudio
(if anyone wants to use them, can also update to include any missing icons)
Mega link for the icon pack: https://is.gd/s672uw
11 Feb 20
*Added green (grn), orange (org) & red accent colours, plus Gboard gradient backgrounds.
If anyone want to use a different dialer colour you can unzip the theme and swap com.android.contacts.
***Known bug, the subject text on Gmail notification is dark grey, this only happens when the qs & notification are black, still trying to fix this***

When you share post on Instagram, that's when the share sheet comes. N yes , make that name highlighted as you have shown in your screen shot. Also another bug I found is that when an SMS comes in Google messages the mark as read and reply option is invisible and not readable

Ok, I'll take a look later this evening but I don't use Instagram or Google messages so might need you to test. Also probably do a separate new theme since I prefer the darker text, any other requests for the new theme?

Thanks, looks great till now, who definitely let u know if I see any bugs... Thanks for the quick response...
Suggestion, possible to make the shade of grey more darker of the share sheet in Instagram.
I'll keep u up to date on any bugs if found... Love the changes u made into contact, texts looks much better
Possible to make the subject of email in notification readable in Gmail if not white... Some other color to read the subject text when u receive email.
Another bug found on the default weather app... Weird black bar at the top, even after restarting phone. Also a suggestion can u not make the font color bold in settings but more like as stock, less highlighted... Better for the eyes

Ok, fixed the weather app (v1.5), but haven't figured out which string is causing the dark text in Gmail notification, when I get a bit more time I'll take another look.
Thanks!

Thank a lot for your quick fixes
Found another bug while expanding notification for Gmail and facebook
Just want to thank u so much for taking any suggestions into consideration. Very appreciated... Near perfect dark theme.
Hi, is it possible to make the Instagram share sheet this shade of dark, u can use marydues pitch black theme for reference. It will look really cool n cohesive with the rest of theme.
Btw, wanted to ask why is the contact not fully pitch black, it's a shade lighter than the bottom part and search box.
Also a suggestion as u can in the first screenshot of the file manager, is it possible to make the font color of the general theme like this in terms of boldness, like the main title n subtitle of this shade of white.
Very big bug report, icons n texts are not visible per screenshot in the in call app

Yeah, I was rushing and left out the incall UI it's fixed now, also fixed the expanding notification (v1.6).
I've just seen your post about the file manager and contacts, both are intentional but I'll take a look tomorrow.
Thanks
All the best [emoji1474]
