Wow that was quick. It'll come soon indeed

Yeah I'm crossing my fingers that JB will significantly help the problems on some people's primes considering the similarities of hardware between the prime and the nexus 7

Not sure if real or not... but did a search on youtube and found this...

I was reading today that Asus is confirming JB 4.1.x will come to the Prime, TF300 and TF700 tablets. No word though on the TF101 or the Slide tablets.

I'm not holding my breath either. I will unlock and go with a community developed custom rom of Jelly Bean unless Asus gets out a beta firmware release first.

Actually they need to fix their kernel first... TF300 still has the same issues with games. Hopefully it is just software, and not hardware related.

Based on what? I see a lot less work for Asus to go ICS->JB plus I think they know the recipe having build the Nexus 7 and all. That PDK should help them immensely to get their Nexus 7 work ported to the tf201-300-700

Building an AOSP build based off of BumbleDroid's device vendor for JB. Since I did not create "it", I just compiled it, it will be in General, not development if it works.

I find it funny that before ICS came out everyone was "Ohh, I can't wait, it's going to be so great, Yea Yea Yea"
I had no problem with Honeycomb and rather enjoyed it to be honest.
Now it's the same thing with JB
I've dug every Android version from 2.1 to now. Each has their problems and strengths. I do enjoy getting the latest versions and ICS is starting getting old to me so any update will do. I don't think JB is going to be much of a difference in appearance but hope the performance is better that ICS. I can live with ICS if Asus never gives the Prime JB though.
I really would like to see a complete jump to Android 5.0 not these incremental baby steps.
Just my observations and opinion.

This thread should be titled, "It's only a matter of prime."

Well since they announced JB like 3 weeks ago, its a well known fact about the appearance and performance changes. I'm not sure what you're trying to predict since everyone has seen it and a lot are running it already. I have JB on my galaxy nexus and it feels like a new phone to be honest. Its a little ridiculous to expect a completely revamped version of the OS every year

ASUS confirms 5.0 Jelly Bean....

Wow, ICS has barely been out.
I know that there has been threads about Jelly Bean, but I am not sure if I had read that ASUS confirmed that it would be Jelly Bean.
Does this mean Google and Asus maybe working on a Nexus tablet, since asus has made this announcement?
Hopefully with the new wave of tablets from Asus we can still use the TF201 dock with them. If so I wouldnt mind sticking with Asus tabs...especially if they ever make one that works as advertised....lol

Android 5 will be released about a year after Android 4, which was released about a year after Android 2.3. Honeycomb was an interim release. I'm not sure why everyone is so bent out of shape about this--things are moving along pretty much according to schedule.
Just because someone confirmed Jelly Bean as the name for Android 5 doesn't mean it's coming out anytime soon... I'd say, it'll be October at the earliest, although like ICS it might be previewed over the summer.

[Update] Jellybean 4.1 system dump & OTA update file. Port to Prime Possible

has anyone noticed this? system dump for Android 4.1 jellybean is already out. the hacking/creating custom jellybean roms has already begun.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736529
they have it deoxdexed already in that thread.
plus the Samsung galaxy nexus just got the OTA update to jellybean. someone posted the file in this thread.

Update
Nexus 7 system dump. thanks to Zedomax
Http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739147
Could possibly be ported to prime or at least new features pulled from it and implemented into prime roms.
Mods can delete thread if it can't be ported.
Jelly Bean looks pretty dang cool, but I think I'm personally going to wait until there is a stock-based JB ROM. I've tried AOSP-based ROMs on my Prime, and the loss of functionality on the keyboard, as well as the headaches with battery monitoring on the second battery just aren't worth it.
Once Wookie can get his hands on an Asus build of JB, I bet this thing will really come alive.

You would be far better off waiting for either:
A dump from the Nexus 7 (Which is closer hardware-wise)
Waiting for source to be pushed to AOSP in a few weeks.
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/android-building/BnspdkGvgOE/YaEotqlP4OoJ
SDK ports tend to be as slow as molasses and functionally incomplete as they usually lack the driver support of the proper release.
The HTC One X port from the Galaxy Nexus image is well... As bad as you would expect.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. I am currently using CM9 and the keyboard functions equally as well as stock. Monitoring of the second battery works perfectly too. This is the case with all the recent releases of the other AOSP roms too. I do not think it will be too long before we have a JB AOSP rom for the Prime. I wish you luck in seeing the same from ASUS. Hopefully sometime next year lol.

I haven't tried CM9, but on AOKP and EOS, the extra tweaks for things like the keyboard unlock that Asus baked in are missing. I use mine for taking notes pretty frequently, and I like to be able to turn the screen on and off with the keyboard. That was never an option with AOKP or EOS. I recognize that it's a small issue for most people, but it was a deal-breaker for me. The ROMs that I was running didn't have a dual-battery guage, either, unless you wanted a big ugly widget on one of your home screens to tell you how your dock battery is doing. I also missed the quick OC settings that are in the stock-based FW.

CM10 and AOKP with Jellybean

So I'm sure we are all going to be wondering about this.
CyanogenMod made the announcement today that if they will begin working on CM10 as soon as they get official source for it. If your device has a CM9 then it will be getting CM10. Good news for us since we have CM9.
Team Kang announced that they will be releasing M6 this weekend after that they will not be working on ICS releases anymore and will take a short break then begin with JB.
Rollout of these ROMS should be quick because they don't have to restart they just have to merge stuff into the ICS builds.
Just giving you all a heads up.

Just a correction regarding AOKP, the post Roman made on G+ indicates that they are going to start fresh on JB as they suspect there will be issues merging changes into existing ICS base. That said the turn around should be a fair bit quicker with JB as most customizations should still work.

The reason that we run TWRP instead of clockwork is that there's a bad version of clockwork mod touch that causes "Brick 1a" in the sticky that's labeled something like How To Unbrick Your Prime. The most similar version of the regular clockwork mod may also have this problem but most of the one's I've fixed remotely for people were using clockwork mod touch.
Although it's labeled brick 1a, in my opinion it's not a brick. But since you can't boot to the rom people freak out. What happens is when you boot to recovery and then try to reboot system, the device reboots to recovery again. No matter what you do from the on the device just loops from Asus Eee Pad screen to recovery.
Fixing it just requires running a command in ADB on your computer. Newer repackaged versions of clockwork have been done by some really nice guys here on XDA which are supposed to have that bug in the software fixed. Because this was such a prevalent issue a lot of developers write their stuff to work great with TWRP because it hasn't ever had this problem.
It's one of those weird things where some people have clockwork installed and don't have problems and others have lots of problems with what seems like the very same software combination. I actually bought my prime really cheap because the owner was running clockwork mod and had the brick 1a happen and he couldn't fix it. Once I received it, in an hour or two I had gotten a good ADB connection and ran the command and was good to go. I thought maybe it was a fluke and tried to continue with clockwork mod and had the same thing happen again, so finally I switched over to TWRP recovery and it was a great decision, I haven't looked back since.

I'm running JB on my Galaxy Nexus and absolutely love it. I can't wait for an AOKP version for both my Nexus and my Prime!
Oh, the conundrums!
See, now I'm so torn... do I get a GNex and the immediately available JB, or do I wait for an AOKP ROM for the Galaxy S III? Urgh!
Ah, this should be my biggest problem in life!! I gotta upgrade eventually, my little Captivate is feeling its age, and I'm traveling to Canada in a few months... the conundrums......
Well, choice made. Galaxy S III purchased.

Looks like we are next!

On G+ a user asked Asus about Jelly Bean for the TF201 and Asus replied "Jelly says it's his next stop "

What else was expected to happen? Of course it's coming soon. When is the question....
I think the op's intentions is that the 201 is next.

The big question is if it actually resolves any of the problems that are present in the TF201 ICS firmware. So far, Asus has made no claim that it does. You can spraypaint a turd pink, but its still smells like a turd.

Apparently the new kernel has some effect on the TF300's I/O, which seems to be the main weakness on the Prime. Improve that bottleneck and it'll help a lot of different areas.
To be honest with the root tweaks my prime's performance is adequate, even if the jelly bean improvements are marginal I'll be pretty satisfied.
I just want Google Now and that higher frame rate.

I also am happy with my prime with virtuous prime rom and batoo's io scheduler and tune.sh. Butter smooth already. So JB or my current setup will be fine. I love android for the fact I have choices and solutions all the time.

that was a wonderful statement...
too many people here
(uber-techies & needy people)
forget that with all of the dev going on for this device,
they have made an already great Droid
(yes, i AM aware of its MANY shortcomings)
an AWESOME Droid!
i almost sent mine back(twice)...
the dev community convinced me to stick it out & keep it.
glad i did.
(btw, i have 5 other Droids in house; the Prime gets the most use of all)
Half of us can't even unlock and try any dev, so it doesnt apply to us until we can. We've tried to get an answer from Asus and they've done nothing.
Love my Prime
Had it since the first shipment, 12/23/11 and have no issues at all except GPS as we all know. All games run great no complaints except Madden, can't get that to run for anything. I am unlocked and rooted and flashed most of these roms. Thank you to the devs that keep our device alive and fast.
I must say I have no problems running games (those tegra games are beautiful and run great), i only have the occasional ANR while downloading torrents but pressing 'wait' just makes it disappear and everything functions. So, not much crashes or apps getting stuck

Nice leak you have cahced there ^^ Seems like 4.2 is coming soon if they are testing it.
I'm confused, does this guy work at HTC or something? For the most part all I can tell is that he is an XDA mod and dev. There are a variety of ways he could have done this: just flashing 4.2 camera onto a stock HTC rom, running unofficial AOSP/CM/AOKP (admittedly not likely because he's American), etc. I find myself doubting that HTC of all companies will be the first after Google to update their devices to 4.2.

Wonder when this will be available in Canada. That looks like a cool lil camera feature.
Yeah he's totally in the UK

I also don't understand how this is relevant. He works at xda, not HTC. I myself flashed the 4.2 camera on my 4.1 sense ROM and photosphere works great. Since he works at xda it's doubtful he's running anything official. There's nothing to support that he's running 4.2, just the camera. The only way this could be newsworthy would be if he's running a Sense 4.2 ROM or if he's developing an At&t aosp-based ROM. Anything else is old news.
Well hes response in coments is interesting where to the coment about ''exposing inside info...'' he answers:
Shen Ye - ****. Should have wiped the EXIF.
