Hi there! yesterday i finally took the plunge and installed the resurrection ics rom v. 2.5.3 (jelly bean transitions) on my S2 gt-i9100. so far everything has been working wonderfully, except that i cant connect to the mobile data network (im on sasktel btw).
i can send and recieve texts, as well as make calls, but i cannot use the internet unless im on wifi. the little H+ logo does not appear at all on the notification bar. any ideas of what may be causing this and how to fix it? thanks!!!
well, u'll have to add the acces point configuration of ur carrier (sorry for the bad translate, i think that it's not call like that, but something like so)
u need to ask to ur carrier all the parameters and add it ur self
u can find where to add them in config-->more-->mobile network names of point of acces-->menu-key-->add

Ever since i rooted my phone and flashed different roms, i haven't been able to use Virgin's SMS service and 3G internet. Is there a way for me to gain access to it again? I've downloaded the settings and clicked on the dot but it still doesn't work.
Could anybody help me? Such as giving correct settings for the APN and settings for other things. I'm currently running FeraLab v6 Ethernal on DooMKernal v6 -1113 Mhz.

I am in the same boat.
Odd. I'm running WB GB v6, and it doesn't let me download the carrier settings. But SMS and data always worked.. just not MMS (which I'll soon fix).

SMS always worked, MMS and 3G internet never worked for. Does your 3G work?
I'd say yes. Generally Australia has ****ty mobile coverage anyway, but I've seen my mobile transfer while showing 3G symbol.

i am from India, and recently upgraded my Ace from Froyo to Gingerbread release DDKQ8. Its been about a month and everything was working fine until i came home today, and now my data network is not working!! It used to work perfectly fine on the local network. On roaming, calls and sms are working but no data!!
has anyone faced this issue? Great if someone could suggest something!!

yup..i did. have been using roaming data in the past on Froyo. Also checked the APN settings, restarted, toggled flight mode, etc hit and trial solutions!!
i live in india too and had no problems in roaming. check whether 3g option is on coz in many states 3g is not supported i am on airtel.

actually i am on 2G..so there's no additional setting for that. trying to figure something on google. another hit and trial solution is data wipe and factory reset..but i want to keep it as a last resort..coz if it doesnt work..i'll end up deleting all my apps for nothing!! am not rooted yet!

download "Super Manager" it allows you to backup all your apps without root...
u can use titanium backup also i use that only.

Im running the latest Omega rom and Ive noticed that Whatsapp refuses to work over data (3G) connection even if other application are not so picky. Whatsapp works as supposed with wifi connection, Please help. Several people asked this over the internet, but nobody answered.

I had the same problem not only with whatsapp but also with viber etc. I fixed it by creatin my APN settings manually.
Settings/Mobile Network/Connection Settings than tap home buttons left key / New APN
you can ask APN settings to your cell provider.
Usually it's not the cause of Whatsapp but your provider blocking it.
Many (if not most) providers are either incapable or unwilling to use transparent packet inspection (not necessarely Layer-7) and rely on the phone to have a Proxy server configured in the APN.
Interestingly exactly this proxy is usually not even given in the configuration details.
Some providers (such as mine) even attempt to do their bandwith throttling via the proxy. I don't complain since I don't use it =)
But other applications are ok with this default configuration. And Whatsapp in my HTC phone worked ok on 3G data with default settings...
later edit - found the solution 4 the problem, when flashed the new omega rom, it put all the APN profiles my provider has, including some ****ty MMS and WAP APNs. After I deleted those and left only the Internet APN, things got back in normal.

Indeed solve my problem. On APN settings I switched from Orange WAP to Orange net and Viber, along with WhatsApp started to work fine. Thank you

I too had a problem in whatsaap with my Galaxy SIII - O2 germany network. Whatsapp was not working on mobile net but was super fine on wifi. I restored APN to default then it again fine.

I am using samsung galaxy s duos.I am unable to send messages through whatsapp when I am using aircel network,other networks it is working fine.Is that the problem with aircel n/w or whatsapp application.If any suggestions pls give me replies......http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Also had a problem with WhatsApp messages not being delivered when on 3G but they would on Wifi. I thought it was something to do with droidwall but the resetting off APN settings makes sense.

Okay resetting the APN's did not work.
I am running Omega Rom and Jkay but this happened when I ran stock as well.
On 3G messages will sometimes come through immediately, sometimes not. They will always come through on Wifi. They will also come through if I open Whatsapp. Not sure if it is ISP related but when I had a Nokia on same ISP I never had this problem.
Does anyone know if something in Droidwall would be blocking this?

i have this prob o whatsapp not connectin over mobile data only on aosp/aokp roms...!! there are no extra apn created.. new manully created one dont help and also the one sent by network after request dont work!!! :crying: ne1 knows y??? its all bak to normal once m on stock roms!

I have the same problem on all AOSP and AOKP ROMS but works fine on the stock roms. Did you found any solutions for this issue?

I dunno if its a solution or not but i always had the wrong access point selected by default in these roms... i change it each time i flash a rom to the 1 i need and this solved it.. No more probs for me! Hope it helps u too..

Just hit reset APN settings in the Access point networks sub menu... Everything will be alright... Just figured out on my android 4.4.2

I had the same problem with a new Samsung S6 and resetting the APN to default fixed it. Thanks very much!

Deleting all unnecessary APNs for different providers helped my problem on the HTC One M8 Dual SIM with CM13! Thanks so much, love you!!

Go to Mobile manager>Data usage>control app data usage. Scroll down to Whatsapp and tick mobile data box.
This worked on my android phone.

I have been running the CM9 rom on my Galaxy S3 fine until I recieved an SMS from Tmobile stating that my signal has been switched to EE.
However now my Carrier is displaying 'No Service'
My phone still works correctly so appears to just not reconise EE as the carrier.
Has anybody else had this? and does anybody know if there is a fix for this.
I want it to properly display when have signal not just a custom carrier name. Is there a way to update the carrier list?

I'm on Orange, using XXDLIB. I had a SIM update text, deleted and rebooted, and lost my signal too!
I left it about an hour, rang Orange, and during the 28 minutes of queing I rebooted and got another text, rebooted again and it was working, with "[email protected]@@@@@@@@@" showing as the carrier in the pulldown thingy. Not sure what the @'s are about!
So my solution... patience!

Contact your network the phone cannot know that the name has changed .
Unless you have a brand new Sim or an update as per the other post.

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned after flashing back to stock 4.1.1 EE displays correctly, seems to be a problem with CM9 Rom only.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry mate, don't use CM.. I prefer the sammy ROMs.
A wild guess - maybe the T-Mobile CSC isn't in the ROM? Don't know if that would affect actually connecting to the network though.
Might be worth posting in the CM9 thread.

Same problem here yet Im on CM10 Dark Paranoid Android. Does same on any other CM10 ROM that I've tried too (Slim bean, CM10 Milestone 1 etc). Doesn't affect usage, just looks unpretty because now displays "NO SERVICE". Now and again says T-Mobile, but never lasts long. Have tried the option of editing a file - I think was callled spn, and also have tried Carrier Name Changer from google market with no avail.
Any help would be much appreciated
i found galaxy s2, was locked/blocked. i rooted it, installed new kernel and cyanogenmod rom. it shows that it's got network coverage but can't make any calls. what can be the problem? thanks.

Some tips, you might want to double check your APN settings, search for network automatically, and make sure your phone is not barred (meaning pay your bills on time, lol). Do check if you forgot to turn on your mobile data and see if you can browse the internet. If not then, try to use your sim card with other phone and see if you can make any calls. I suspect this problem came from your network carrier, if not then you might want to consider re-flashing your ROM with full wipe and start a fresh new one and see if you still have this problem. Don't forget to make a backup!
