As much as I love reading through threads on XDA, I just dont have much time reading every Dev thread here. I will be getting an Atrix in the coming days to replace my Dell Streak. The reason why I cannot read through all the thread is because Ive been on and off with like 4 different droids and just cant waste so much time reading through all the threads, Ive already burnt all the time I had to waste.
So If anyone could just give the name of the ROM which they think is the most stable at this moment, I would be very greatful. As I need a stable ROM to fall back on when I try all the new ones coming out.
Thanks in advance!

Atrix allows you to dock the phone to a lapdock which transform it into something like a netbook.
the lapdock has a 11.6" screen, keyboard, 2 USB ports and doubles as an extended battery.
Google for pictures/videos and more details.

It's working great for me. I mean, I have little requirements. Facebook, Twitter, Browser, XDA app, camera (not video), wifi, 3g.. they're all working great for me. It's stable for my needs. You can give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always use Neutrino
Just remember that not all apps would work. Chrome, for example, is forever crashing on the Atrix due to the lag of hardware acceleration.

Using Neutrino here. Really great performance-wise. I gave up CM9´s roms ATM because i need a fully functional camera and even though the situation got better now, it still buggy. Neutrino is my daily driver though.
Once again, thanks for all of your info! I really appreciate it. Ill be getting my Atrix today in just a few hours

I flashed CM7 to my Atrix 4G earlier this week and it is stable. I spent many hours reconfiguring and testing after the change to ensure the phone will be stable for work. I think it will be and do not plan to make any more major changes until the end of the year unless something catastrophic happens.
The phone has not crashed and boots 5x faster than stock (30s - 35s from button down). Bluetooth connects within one or two seconds compared to 5s - 10s before. Wifi performance has remained unchanged, sometime up to 30s to fix but I have only tried on my old, home router. GPS lock is 10s - 15s indoors, maybe a slight performance increase. Camera loads quick. No hesitation when typing (after the last upgrade I was seeing a lot of that).

I'd say CM7.2 last stable release.
Better then any other ROM i tried, and i tried them all
I'd like neutrino 2.8 EE too, rock solid since launch

No, Neutrino is CM7 based and webtop does not exist on any such roms (or any ICS roms).
Furthermore , the old Webtop is likely to become permanently dead. We will have to figure out how to use the tablet mode based webtop in the future.

"Best" is subjective. The most popular Blur-based ROM still seems to be NottachTrix; unfortunately, the latest version (1.3.1) is also the last version, as Nottach no longer supports it (he no longer owns an Atrix). There are a few other Blur-based ROMs that seem to still be in active development, but I haven't really been following them (I use CM7.2).

Hey guys, I was wondering if Tue gingerbread ROMs for the thunderbolt were more stable now than they have been in the past. I was looking to flash to one a couple months ago but saw a lot of people saying there were issues. If so, any recommendations on one to try? Thanks
I've asked that question a few days ago. I'm using uberbamf pre3 as my daily driver. & It's just in preview stage. The same as stock on battery life. I'm in love with it. I just rooted and haven't flashed anything else. I hear synergy is good too for daily driver.

They are most definitely stable for a daily driver. The only known issue that bugs me (and this is across every single GB ROM) is voicemail notifications. But this can be remedied if you use Google Voice or if you never get voicemails (like me!)

I have the 2.07.605.0 RUU, its great, been using it for over a week, wifi works well, flash works well, I have the seidio 3200 extended batt, and have not yet rooted again however, just as a couple notes,/ fyi.
i suggest using Synergy as whenever i get bored with AOSP stuff i'll always put Synergy back on.
why go back to Sense if you'e into AOSP you may ask?... well that's easy. the Mario Lock Ring !
I like sense a lot. So I am not planning on going to a AOSP ROM. What do you guys mean by daily driver?

It means something you can rely upon for daily use, rather than a totally unstable alpha rom that crashes constantly meant for testing.
I have been using the Synergy rom as a DD for about 2 weeks now. I probably reboot every 2-3 days for one reason or another, usually rom misbehaving in some aspect. But other than that it works great. All features fully functional, and it runs fast. The homescreen carousel can get a little choppy on occasion, but actual web browsing is very smooth and the screens flick at 60fps.
For those of you who have used both of these outstanding ROMs on your MoPho, which one do you prefer and why?
Both are great ROMs. I am currently on cm7. I am really liking cm7. Its fast and battery life is outstanding. Downside to cm7 is you do need to edit build.prop to get youtube working. Also have to edit apn to get mms working. Fixes are easy to do though.

i agree with above. both are great and will wake up your photon like no other. when it was all said and done, i picked CM7 bc thats what i ran on my EVO and was just more comfortable with it. personal preference really. neither will let you down.
I'd personally go with skinnyrev1. But I've been running CM7 for a long time on my evo shift and got bored with it. But if you have never ran CM7 before on any of your devices then its worth a try. But for the photon I'd go with skinnyrev1.

Really? I haven't really seen anything other than the Alpha builds. Everything works? The Evo worked great (minus 4g, but I don't live in a 4g area anyway). I can only imagine how fast it is. My Photon runs only a little faster than my CM7 evo.
Which build are you guys running?
I am loving life on my CM7 ROM. Not a big fan of Motoblur, so wanted to try something new. To be honest though...this is my only ONLY ROM that I have tried so can't offer anything new to the conversation other than I have had few problems from it. On reboot, I get a single phone.apt error that once dismissed, doesn't bother me again. The MMS issue is NOT an issue on mine...I send and receive picturemail daily and have not had any issues with that. I wish the built in buttons for the zoom on the camera app worked, but they don't...yet. Have to use the apps slider to control zoom. The Wifi is qwerky at times. I sometimes have to FORGET a known network, turn off Wifi, turn it back on...then reenter login info's to get a reconnection on a previously working wifi accesspoint that I use...but...just a minor annoyance. Considering it is still technically in alpha...it is very usable and stable...I say go for it!

I havent had any issues with wifi, got work, home, parents home, and two friends houses in college station. 5 networks total. is it the same router that you are experiencing this trouble or is it the same across all routers?
but to anyone that is in question between the two, dont base ur selection off others, its gonna boil down to your preference. its gonna be 50/50 based on reviews. best thing you can do is flash one and play around with it, then make a backup, flash the second one and see if you like it better or not. Still make a backup of the second in case you want to move back again. Thats the great thing about Android, its your choice
since you have it narrowed down between just these two, youre in a good situation. alot better then flashin all day to see what you like the best.

I've been pretty happy with SkinnyRev1 as a daily driver. I'm currently on CM7 testing the new 1.3OC. My phone hates the 1.4 kernels for some reason and on CM7, even with the modfied APN mms is very sketchy. I can send just fine but when I receive a message, that message gets repeated over and over again every couple of hours (sometimes minutes) until I get sick of it and restore my Skinny nandroid.
I've had it happen with several versions of this alpha and cannot seem to get it to stop once it happens. Deleting the thread does nothing, I just get a notification a little later that I have a new message. I've even gone from several of the yay leaked sbfs straight to CM7, skipping skinny altogether and still have the same mms issue
Well I haven't tried skinny rom but cm7 is awesome very stable been my daily driver for about 2 weeks and love it. Very smooth and fast. I had cm7 on evo 4g and needed it on this. it's very customizable (real word?) I am used to modding android devices. I might be looking to get a touchpad for my mother depending on how stable an android rom is for it.
Is there a stable CM7?
What are the features that DO-NOT work? (that way I can assume everything else works?)
Front camera, skype support?
Again I would be looking for the most stable and bug free ROM that I would not have to constantly flash updates for her. Thanks!!
I have never used CM7 since I just got my Touchpad a few weeks ago when CM9 was out. But CM9 is stable. Just doesnt have camera or mic working. I dont know if these issues are the same with CM7. But if your mom has no need for all the apps android has to offer, she can just use webOS which is more stable than both CM7 and CM9.

Dont bother at all with CM7. CM9 and other ICS roms are far more stable. Pretty much everything works except for the camera and microphone. Battery life is nowhere near as good as in webOS, expect about 2 days of standby or about 5 hours of constant usage. Some people have wifi issues, but they're more often than not fixed by setting the router to avoid higher channels (keep it on 6 or below). The vibrate motor also for some reason stops working after the device goes into sleep, and the only way to get it going again is to reboot but I dont think that's a big issue for anyone.
As for a ROM, I'd recommend CM9 not because its the best but because its the one I'm most familiar with, and I can say its fairly stable. Sometimes it will randomly reboot, but never while actively using it. I'm using a nightly, but since you're giving this to a family member you might be better off with the better tested Alpha 2.
Stable Rom: Classicnerd
For me the most stable rom has been classicnerd's latest version. I have been using it and donot get any force closes or reboots. You can find the latest version at classicnerd.net/Betas/
as far as CM9 and the camera/mic issues, I think she would want to use skype to video chat with family members, so that would be a problem.
Does classicnerd have that issue?

webos does not have a lot of the banking and other apps she may find useful. Although is it easy to dual boot webOS and android? I'm thinking maybe its useful to boot to webOS just for skype and Android for everything else. That is, if its easy to switch between them.

Dual booting is the only way to do it. As far as I know, you cant replace webOS. When you follow the instructions to install android, you also install what is called a moboot that lets you select which operating system to boot into when starting the device. Switching between the two is easy and is just a matter of restarting your device.

Personally, I prefer AOKP.

Just depends on how adept she is at technology. If she can decently run a computer and text, she should be mostly okay. The one thing I would highly recommend is to make sure she can fix the wifi authentication problem. Basically, every now and then, wifi will have an authentication problem. When this happens, she needs to go to wifi settings, forget the router, toggle wifi off/on, and sign back into the router. This problem usually occurs for me when I leave wifi on and then reboot or get a random reboot. Takes maybe a minute to fix. As far as ROM, I like oat's light and tasty, although they're all pretty good, as they have the same base.
Sorry, I have to get this out of my system, then I'll be back to polite nice Canadian. In short, try one and see.
<rant mode on>
One of these days, people will actually glance through the forums as opposed to posting a new thread. This thread has been duplicated many other times before now.
In the end, again, just grab one, take it for a spin, and try it. Start with the more official ones, and work out from there until you find something you like. If nothing suits your fancy, take the source and make your own. It's pretty simple. So please stop spamming the boards with "Which ROM should I use" threads. </rant mode off>

I have tried CN and others but, I think that Oat's light n' tasty is the best so far. All my games run great and so does netflix and YouTube. But, a Rom is only good if it runs the apps you like. You I'll have to find the one that works best for you. I still think webOS is still good. Just my $0.02
I figured one more opinion can't hurt.
I've been using AOKP on my touchpad ever since I found out that they build roms for hp touchpads. It's great, so is CM9 but for some reason my touchpad refuses to behave with CM9, I'm talking random reboots, wifi issues, SOD (screen of death), and so on. ClassicNerd is also great too but I fell in love with the ROM control options available with AOKP.
Either way, one of the earlier posts mentioned that battery life is weak with ICS which is NOT the case for me, I always have wifi on, with my CPU overclocked to the maximum available frequency and get about 7 days, yes 7 DAYS, of standby and at least a full day of constant use.
As for skype, it is not fully functional with all android devices, just the few that the skype people officially support, I've tried it on my phone and it gave me a lot of issues, so even if the mic and cam were working I doubt skype would work well enough on the TP.
Obviously as others have mentioned earlier ICS is much better on the TP than GB, plus you have the great option of dual booting so you could always use WebOS which is pretty decent itself.
All in all, the TP was a great $100 investment and has a lot of support from some great devs out there. My almost 3 years old nephew has one and he loves it too lol

Although she loves the pad, she's more used to the android platform due to her phone and has asked me to do something about it.
I want to get her something that's bug free so that she doesn't have to call me every 5 mins to let me know something has happened.
I could really care less if it's ics or not as long as it works 100% as it's supposed to. I know that these are not official roms and what not but given from your experience, which of the current roms are the least buggy and use friendly for a elderly lady?
Thanks guys

everything for the touchpad is ics.
all the roms are good.
i personally use the official CM9 nightlies. they are stable.
ive heard great things about the ClassicNerd roms though as well.
everything on ICS works apart from mic and camera (mic is being tested but is unstable at the moment), the rest of it works like a charm.
I'm using CM9 nightlies aswell having come from classicnerd, the latter was amazing but the battery life is woeful and it is on their to do list without compromising it's smoothness. Stick with cm9 nightlies and you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the response guys, I think I will go ahead and flash it to cm9 then.
I think she won't really use mic or camera much any ways.
There is a cm7 Rom available too which had had more time for development... I personally like ics a lot better and they both r on pretty much the sane page (cm7 and cm9)

Latest nightlies are renamed, acmeinstaller looks for files prefixed with 'update-' (no quotes). Stick that infront of the cm9 nightly file name and run aceminstaller2 again, it could do with been fixed really, I did the same thing a few weeks back.
Well every device will differ with battery life. The only safe bet is turning off the typical stuff like WiFi, syncing, and lowering brightness to a minimum

I just flashed cm9 onto my mom's touchpad and she loves it even though she has never used android before. Her only complaint is that it doesn't have a good facebook app.
Side note though, I am using the latest nightly and everything works great expect google chrome (the regular browser is fine). Chrome is a bit laggly and when I scroll quickly the screen flashes with some weird black line for a second, it looks like the notification bar almost. Any ideas?
Glad to hear she's happy. I'm seriously thinking of picking up a nexus 7 and giving my touchpad to my father.

nothing missing ? eclipse. some things missing, but better than cm10 as far as battery life, apps working, and features? cm9 for sure. more reboots, but better performance. just my 2 cents.
i used cm10 for a long time, but got really tired of calls cutting out because of the screen proximity sensor. i switched to cm9 a few months ago and have been on it ever since. it all depends on what you use your phone for really.

just remember there are issues with cm9 it just has a bit more stability then cm 10. if you want everything to work without too much trouble then your gonna want to use eclipse.

if you take a lot of photos, or especially video, or use the web a lot, or mainly on your phone than your computer, if you need your phone to have all web functionality at ALL times, cm9 might not be for you. i was just suggesting the most up to date but usable rom that we have. ECLIPSE is a great rom, but it is gingerbread, kind of outdated as far as features go. but everything on eclipse works. everything.
just depends on what you use your phone for. if you just rooted, and are still on 2.3.4, try cm9 for a day or two. more than likely, youa re on 2.3.5, in which case you may as well just try eclipse first. good luck! let us know how it goes/ any questions you have .
