So I got my OTA update to ICS while on vacation, and now that I'm back to work, I've got a huge complaint about ICS...
The old alarm was perfect for me, in that the whole screen was a snooze button and I had to move a slider to dismiss. Now, the snooze button and the dismiss button are right next to each other on the screen. I'm a chronic snoozer, and don't plan to change that, but I can't be dismissing by accident. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get that original program back? I imagine I would need the apk at the very least, root, and install through adb, but I don't have the apk, and googling on the subject brings up other alarm programs...

Old alarm app is perfect
I think the OP will be satisfied with Alarm Clock Extreme. Very similar to the stock GB, has a full-screen snooze, plus a ton of customization for each alarm, custom snooze settings, require answer math problems to dismiss, etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alarmclock.xtreme.free&hl=en
I got the paid version via AmazonApp Store free app of the day a while back and LOVE it! Haven't used my stock alarm since I got my Maxx.
Alarm Droid. Much better.
I had checked out alarm clock extreme, but unless i set captcha or math problems, the dismiss button is still just a button I can hit. Alarm Droid doesn't appear to even come close to what I was asking for.
So, noone thinks I can get the original one back then?
have you tried using the volume button to snooze? that works too.

Has anyone figured out how to revert?
Maybe backup the app with TiBU on my X, transfer the file to my RAZR, then "restore?"
I've been hunting all over for a solution to this. Seems that a LOT of people prefer the old Blur alarm clock. Trouble is, in ICS, it sounds like they might have integrated the clock with the dock, so if you remove one, you lose the other? I don't care, though, since I don't use a dock.
I really hope somebody figures out a way to get this working. I don't even care if it doesn't become the system default. I would be appreciative of an installable APK, and if I have two clocks installed, so be it! (Unfortunately, it's beyond my skill set to come up with this.)

I am shocked at how many things are just plain worse in ICS. I feel like I downgraded to ME. I want my 98SE back! It's stupidly double stupid that I can't flash back to 2.3.6!
I like most everything else about ICS. The clock is really my only gripe.
Somebody? Anybody?

I second your feelings. I want the other alarm back!!!!!

I used this modded alarm clock on my Motorola Defy when I installed CM7 on it.
I think it's exactly the same as the Blur Alarm.
Can somebody port it to our Razr (x910)?
Thank you in advance!

Someone please take this request seriously! I am beginning to become sick of ICS. The Clock is just retarded. I've even set my alarm the night before only to wake up to no alarm going off! I've been late to work, and I missed Donuts with Dad this morning with my boy. I'll be resorting to a different clock, but I would really appreciate the original clock from Gingerbread.

I haven't tried the GB ones, but this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jaWxjdGVsLmNyb25vIl0 is very good, The functionality and the styling is cool too (matches Sony's own)..
I dismissed instead of snoozed
I got screwed this morning by the ICS alarm. I have now started to use Alarm Clock Xtreme. But I would like the Gingerbread version back, too. Is there a way to port GB apps to ICS?

Having owned my EVO since November of last year, one of the mods/apps on my phone that has been with every ROM is JsChiSurf's power control notification bar. It is THE most useful and crucial apps I have on my phone. Although I know there are other 'widgets' on the market that "sort of" replicate it, JsChiSurf's mod is the only one that allows you to have access to any of the power controls you frequently need from any screen quickly and easily, whereas, with most power control widgets, you have to go back to the screen where the widgets are located.

My Photon is arriving today and since it doesn't appear JsChiSurf made the jump to the Photon, it's the one mod that I'm going to truly miss. Because of that, I was wondering if any of you talented developers out there knows how to port this mod to the Photon? I'm willing to pay a bounty ($20, via Paypal) to anyone who can do it.

I agree. This has always been a great feature on past rooted phones. This type of mod is also included in CM7 and is better because you can change them on the fly without flashing and can have more than 6. Either way, would be nice to have.

Brother (or sister if you're female), thank you for pointing me in the direction of that app. I just installed it and it looks like the concept was modeled on JsChiSurf's notification bar (and considering the developer was from XDA, I wouldn't doubt it).
I just installed it on my Photon and it seems to work the same way. In fact, it's a bit more user friendly in that it allows you to select which toggles you want on the notification bar from a menu selection, rather than editing a text file. And although I haven't tested ALL the functions yet, so far, most are working on my Photon. I now have room again on my homescreen (temporarily had widgets installed) and can now access those functions from any screen.
Again, thank you very much! I guess I need to pull my head out of my *ss once in a while and take a look at what's new on the Market.

I tried this for a while. It's nice, but the Photon doesn't support the all-in-one notification, so each control takes a notification slot. It's nice, but I'm still holding out for Power Control Notification.

Make sure you are deodexed before doing this. The Atrix runs a different version of Motoblur than the Photon does so make sure you have backed up as there is a not so small chance it will screw up your phone.
Let us know if it works though (if you decide to try it).
If you get rid of the systemui.apk you'll get rid of the clock.....and your whole notification bar
Good luck with the baksmali edits gives me cold chills lol
+100 to no notification bar!!! Hahahaha. I wouldn't do that. And I agree, the big clock on the home screen is ugly, so I do prefer the one in the notification bar.
I would actually like to remove the battery icon next to the clock, as I use a different (better) program and don't need two of them. There was an easy way on the old Evo. Anyone figured that out yet? If so, is rooted enough, or have to be unlocked?
This is for those of you checking out the 2.3.5 update and are missing their toggles.. Ported from the Atrix 2.3.4 X2 port. Feel free to use these for any 2.3.5 based ROM's that may be under development. Added a second darker option with cyan status as opposed to the stock with lighter and green status.
Toggle zips are flashable in recovery.
DEODEXED 2.3.5

FYI: Don't flash these over Eclipse 2.0.1 if you value your phones notification bar; doing so will make it no longer function and no matter how many times you wipe any/all caches, factory reset, or swear at your phone, the notification bar will not come back.
Sigh.

To nip this one in the butt because I know its coming:
And before you ask, I know Eclipse has toggles on the notification bar. The problem is, and its the only problem I have with this amazing ROM, IMO there are just too many damn toggle buttons on the default eclipse bar most of which are totally useless.
Basically what I am looking for is the following:
Wifi -> Bluetooth - > GPS -> Data -> Screen Rotate Lock -> Flashlight
If there is a way to set up a screen brightness quad toggle (Auto, 1%, 50%, 100%) like "Power Control Plus" had before it was broken by Gingerbread, I would love that button between GPS and Data On/Off Toggle. If not, there is no reason for a toggle just to turn off auto brightness.
-Turning off Data will also stop syncing, not sure why we need a second notification toggle in Eclipse to disable Google Sync, unless that was a reboot toggle? Didn't try it before screwing up my notification bar but it looks like the Google sync toggle icon. Is this really necessary on a notification pull down? Unless most people use it several times a day, its really redundant.
-Screen Rotation Lock is a MUST. I don't understand how people get by not having a link to this option, obviously do not use their phone in bed, lying on a couch, hell IMO I don't think they use their phone at all accept sitting in some perfect posture position. Trying to catch up on the news before bed is a nightmare with the damn screen flipping back and forth as my phone is at a perfect 45 degree angle. It drives me nuts...NUTS!
The Sound toggle for me is redundant too as all I have to do to silent the phone is hit the power button and swipe. Its actually less work then hitting the power button, unlocking the phone, swiping the notification bar, and then hitting the toggle. Two steps vs four steps and with it already built into the lock screen, there is no need for squeezing it onto the notification bar which is already slam packed with toggle goodness.
The way I look at notification bar toggles are they should only be buttons you use several times a day or in an emergency, like the flashlight. The more crap you slam onto that bar, the smaller the buttons get and the harder it is to hit the right one. Secondly, its just cluttered. Redundancy with Data toggles, Sync Toggles, Airplane Mode, etc just add clutter.
Reminds me of MotoBlur... Bloated.
Is stock android too much to ask from Google/Motorola? I am so fed up with manufactures crap.
And no on the Droid Prime. Crap sub-par quality screen, no TransFlash (MicroSD), Duel Core POS TI processor when nVidia has Quad's (which are really 5 cores) in new phones by February. Sorry, I have one early upgrade left and then two years before I can upgrade again (My DX2 is an insurance replacement for a DX) because of Verizons BS removing early upgrades. My next phone has to last and two years from now a duel core phone will feel like its from the 90's. Maybe if the Prime was actually released on time it could have been a different story, but no TransFlash was basically a deal breaker. If I wanted out dated crap technology sold at a premium I would use an iPhone.

Edit sorry I even took up more space here Mastfunk, please have mine and hi$ posts deleted.
Now the intelligent thing I should have done is actually toggle those widgets first instead of assuming. I guess that's what I get for being an ass.
I actually missed sleep last night because I had to rebuild two other family members phones, an Original Droid and a Droid X, on top of mine. Haven't slept since the night before last.
Edited my post because I was ranting to myself in the post, not directed at anyone else. No nandroid till I am 100% set up "stock" the way I want it before apps, IE: I would have nandroid after this update.
I am at the point with SBF'ing where even if I brink the thing, I no longer get that feeling of butterflys in my stomach because i know after a few hours of messing around its going to get fixed. The first time I had that fun sick feeling that made fixing it so much more of an accomplishment. All it does for me now is cause headaches. I am SO at the point where I just want whatever technology I am using to work without bugs.
BTW, if you have ever used the voice software in a Chrysler vehicle, you know what I was going through before that post. My rents stopped by so I could return their newly rom-updated devices. My mother wanted me to set up BT with her car, and have it sync the phone book. You think M$ Sync is bad? I need to smoke an entire pack of cigs after dealing with that cars automated *itch "AI". To use the term AI, you would think it would have SOME intelligence; you would be wrong.

Well, I am glad you didn't, but I still feel like an ass! LOL. Hopefully though, that post will prevent someone else from following in my footsteps.
You know whats even more annoying, now I want to figure out WHY it didn't work. There has to be something in Eclipse SystemUI.apk that's different then the one in this thread. I really wanted to go take a nap, but now I really want to pick apart both versions of SystemUI and see where they are different.
Why can't this planets days be longer...
Fantastic! No problem flashing. Thanks. Is there a way to change what is toggled? I would rather toggle brightness instead of Bluetooth.
Ok, I am done pulling my hair out so maybe I can pay someone else to do this for me lol.
I want a Transparent Status Bar exlcluding the Clock / Battery .. All I want is Notificatons on left hand side and Signal/Wifi on the right hand side.
I have been trying to change framework to make it work but however all I can manage to do is either make it completely dissapear or change the color. I thought that I could atleast hide the notifications by making the battery and clock display transparent but when I do that it off centers the wifi/signal bars and just doesn't look right.
I however have not been succesfull at making the Bar itself transparent.
So, to sum it up. I will pay for someone to do this for me or willing to accept any and all pointers on how to accomplish this myself.
Systemui controls expanded status bar and everything except the battery. In systemui goto res/layout/ you can set dip of items to say 0.9999999 to hide it. Also colors.xml in res/values/
Running ICScrewD ROM
So you want a transparent status bar with only notifications and wifi/signal without the clock on the right?
How much $$$?

I don't use TWiz currently do to this issue haha. I am using ADWEx because I can totaly hide the Status Bar but I don't care for doing that tbh. I played with Launcher 7 and its statusbar replacement but couldnt get it to work right after pulling things apart so trashed that project. Yeah, I am comparing the i9100 statusbar.apk for the change to the i777 version we have. I am sure I will find it eventually but was hoping someone with some in-depth theming experience would know the answer lol.

Hey guys,
I have the at&t one x+ and was looking for a couple apps to make my life a little easier and to make the phone that more amazing. The first one is to be able to quick reply and quick text from the lock screen. The primary reason I want this feature is to enhance the battery life of the phone. Since I use juicedefender and I don't need to unlock the phone when I text (meaning I don't need to connect to WiFi) the battery life will be prolonged.
Another app/option I'm looking for is to be able to control the frequency of text sound notification. If I've been texting frequently I don't need to hear a sound notification every time. Example: maybe an option to receive sound notification if I havnt received/sent a text since 5 minutes from the last text, otherwise a LED notification will suffice. And it I'm currently using the phone a preview of the message on the status bar is all I need, no sound necessary.
Bonus question: is there a way to send chat messages on Facebook using landscape mode and not having to go through 3-4 steps ?
Hope to hear from you guys soon.
This is interesting. Im used to iPhone's notification shortcuts.

Yes, this is why I asked since I'm coming from a jailbroken iphone
You can try LockerPro from the market. It gives you something really close to the iPhone lock screen

Thanks for the info, but I'm not looking to get the windows lockscreen. I'm very much happy with the HTC lockscreen thus far. Just was a couple features that I had gotten used to with my jailbroken iPhone.
Your looking for something like bitesms huh? If so chompsms is pretty much is the same

Get another iphone ... Or better yet put up with what you have. Either way there is no way to do it without a 3rd party lockscreen.

p.s it work with the stock lockscreen
Sweet, thanks for the recommendations. As of right now I'm going with chompsms to test it out. It seems like it unlocked the phone upon quick replying and goes back to the lock screen after the text is sent. I'll keep testing it out and the other 3rd party apps. I appreciate guys.
