When I got my samsung galaxy note to the left of the home screen was a page that had a facebook app at the top of the screen. I was able to look at one persons statue at a time and enter a status update if I wanted too. After the ICS update facebook wouldn't load so I had to delete the app. I re installed the app but is it possible to somehow get the app back the way it was?
I don't think there are different device specific versions. I think the version you had was the highest available for whatever rom you had (stock GB?). I could be dead wrong on this, but seeing that you havn't had a response yet, this is my best guess.
Soo...you could attempt to find older versions of the FB app, but that in itself can be risky. FB is notorious of taking one step forward and two steps back. They have made their app completely useless for some phones for weeks at a time. There was a point that, on my SGS Vibrant, it would constantly refresh every 5 seconds or so making it nearly impossible to read anything.
I hope someone comes along and drops a link in famous XDA style of being endless repository of knowledge, but I fear you may be waiting to see what the next update brings. For me, I'm just happy when the damned thing works right.
Why facebook ICS not same with GB. App facebook already up to date but not same with facebook GB.

You're thinking of the Facebook widget. Long press your home screen until the "add" box comes up, select widgets, select Facebook, it will put it on your current screen if there is room. Then long press the widget and slide it around to place the widget where you want it.

I'm using the standard Facebook app and so far its great. The new update makes it better but there is still an annoying issue that hasn't changed. When I go in to check my notifications I select one and it takes me to the mobile version instead of staying in the app. I've looked through the Derrick gs and haven't been able to find a way to change that. I emailed the devs but haven't heard back yet. Is there a way to change it so it doesn't open notifications in the browser?

it loads fine for me though it's the ugly old interface, however, i updated it from market and yet. even more strange is that the dropdown notification bubbles are dissorted, the arrow on the top it at the left side of the screen, whilest the bubble is in the middle. strange. i removed fb and reinstalled it and yet, still the same. i guess i do a fresh install at home since i haven't wiped.
Is there no way to open an email message (stock mail client) and then swipe to the next message, and/or swipe back? I'm having to open each message, read the message, hit the back button, select the next message, rinse, repeat. Please tell me I'm missing something obvious?
Yep. That's they way it works.
Hmm. After much deliberation, I've concluded that blows goats. I'm a bit disgruntled about the current inability to root this device and correct this, and other oversights. Bah!

I've recently found k9email...way better than the stock client.
Agreed. I've been using k9 for a couple of years, and like it better than the stock app on Dinc4g. Easy to set up, multiple accts, leave some on the server in folders, some not. It just works.

It's been a while since I've looked at K9. Perhaps it's time to take another look. Thanks all.

So I have just installed the stock jelly bean on my phone and decided that the touchwiz crap used too much RAM so I installed nova. What I found was that when swiping accross on the home screen the folders and widgets would light up around the edges then "turn off" about a second after the swipe has finished. Another unusual thing was as I swiped the clock widget and would go back a minute while retaining the same time and showing two times at the same time. It shows the normal time the same time as the others go back to normal. So I thought I would try Apex launcher. I then found out it didn't he same thing with the icons but not the clock. Is this an S3 fault or is there a hidden setting for this?
Thanks,

P.S. not sure how to make a thread a question on the xda app
This is a well-documented issue at this point. The "fix" turns off hardware rendering via GPU and sends it to CPU. No resolution other than 1) using the "fix," or 2) learning to live with it til it can be addressed.
Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will just try and live with it firbthe moment.

Is it me or is the official Facebook app for the HTC One seem to be the older version? I seem to remember that the Facebook app for Android was updated to act more like the one on iOS, but the one that's on the HTC One seems to be the older, not as smooth, version Android used to have. I've checked the market for updates, but it doesn't show one available, and I am running version 3.1 it shows.
That's the one I have too I think that's the latest

I could of swore that my note 2's app had it where u swipe right it pulls up the menu pane. Its close to current though. I just hate the stupid menu virtual key that shows up in half of my apps.

I just added a mod to the dev section to remove the 3 dot on screen menu and also give you the long press back button for menu option in Display, Gesture, and Button settings

Yeah, I had a Note 2 before and it seemed the Facebook app on that phone was much quicker, more intuitive, and had the built-in gestures.

Seems like we're using an HTML-based version of facebook on the One. Scrolling is really laggy like you said. Much better experience on the iphone.
No, the One comes with a newer version of Facebook, not the old HTML5 version. The HTML5 version was actually a lot smoother than the newer versions, so I wish we had that.
