Smart Alert with 3rd Party Apps? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Does anybody know if Smart Alert should work with a 3rd party messaging app like GoSMS Pro. It does not seem to be working for me...
Also, and Im pretty sure this is a known issue, but when I tell GoSMS to flash the LED for a notification it just stays a constant color. Does this happen to anyone else?

[Q] How to stop the double sounds for Text messages?

This is my second GS, and I never paid attention to it the first time, but now I am getting annoyed with it. Every time I receive a Text the phone plays 2 sounds as the alert. I've tried changing the notification sound, but it still plays the default sound plus my selected sound. So it plays the selected sound first, then the default chime right after.
Anyone knows how to make it stop doing this?
Are you using a 3rd party text app like Handcent or Chomp? If so you need to turn off notifications in the stock sms app.
No,
I'm using stock msg program.
I have this problem too. I only use the default messaging. I used to have hand scent but I deleted it and I still have this problem. Also I get two notifications on my bar and one of them stays there even after I read the text. Annoying!

[Q] How to get phone to light up when text is received?

Is there a way?
noled from the market?
If you mean you want the screen to turn on when you receive an sms, use go sms (free app on the market) instead of the stock app. It has that as a notification option.
What? Man I'm glad it doesn't lol. I found that pretty annoying honestly.
its under setings. display. notification flash
I know handcent has the option to wake the screen up too? I do like the way the default messaging app looks with the raised paper edges. Wish handcent had that.

Messaging alerts while screen is locked fail to show.

Anyone else notice that if the messaging app is open to a conversation, and the phone goes into lockmode, or you lock it and a new message comes in, it doesn't make a peep, or flash the LED?
Am I missing a setting?
Don't think it's a setting.
I know when you have the messaging app open no notifications occur if you are in the same conversation. I think if you are in a different conversation you do get notified via task bar and vibrate/sound. I guess by design since you are there. So it seems that even with the screen off it knows where you are and won't notify.
I never noticed this since I never got a text with the app open and screen off.
Which was the exact reason I use go sms. I missed too many important texts that required immediate answers.

Notifications on the lock screen?

Is it possible to have notifications pop up on the lock screen? I'm thinking specifically of text messages here, as the phone makes a sound but doesn't really give any visual indication apart from a tiny LED blinking away.
Can it be done on the standard UI or do I need to install something else? Sorry for the noobish question, this is my second day using an Android phone
I think you mean like the iPhone does? Because I was just looking into that, but haven't found if a launcher or SMS app. Any help greatly appreciated.
Pretty much like the iPhone does yeah. That's the one drawback I've found so far moving over from iOS
Widgetzoid.....
Ive been using Handcent SMS and it has a feature similar to what you are asking for. Under the applications menu go to Notification Settings, Popup Settings and uncheck Privacy Mode. It works on the Motorola Droid and HTC Sensation.
Check out GO SMS Pro. It's a free messaging app that is skinnable with a theme that looks almost exactly like the iPhone. It also has popup notifications when you have a text, and can even turn your screen on when receiving messages.

[Q] Stock Messaging app Doesn't Vibrate within a Convo

I'm on Unnamed 2.2.1, and I seem to have a problem with my messaging app. What happens is when Im texting someone and they text me back while im typing, the phone does not vibrate or give a notification. Is this a limitation of the stock messaging app or do I need to do something else. Thanks
Vibration worked fine for me when I was on UnNamed 2.2.1. Check all your vibration/notofication settings under Sounds and also in the Messaging app itself.
