App for Wireless Sync? - HTC Radar

Hi, i'd like to know if there is any app or tweak to force zune sync with the phone unplugged. I think there's an app that simulates battery charging in order to be able to sync the phone wihout wires, but i've been searching this app and i couldn't find it, i'll be grateful if anyone of you help me.
Thanks.

HTC Mail does not auto-refresh :(

Hi all,
I have a problem with HTC mail... it does not auto-refresh when the refreshing interval is set to 30mins or more. It is fine at 5, 10 and 15 min intervals but not more than that. I have tried this with both WiFi and 3G/GPRS but the results are the same. Any idea why it is so?? How can I fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help
I have the same issue!
Any ideas?
me too
exept that mine does'nt work at all.. i have to manually refresh the mail regards the frequency setting
Any help guys??!!
.... do you kill the mail app with a task manager?
yes but that should not be the problem, should it? because obviously the app is scheduled to do its stuff at a specified time interval and it should take care of itself even if killed. And I do see that most of the time, the mail app does restart itself but fails to refresh emails.
the schedule is in the app itself if you kill it with a task killer then it wont update simple as

I understand that it is a very plausible explanation... however, from a slightly different perspective: when we use taskkiller to kill ALL tasks, it is noticed that after some time, some apps restart themselves. How does that happen? I was wondering that the Mail app might restart itself when it needs to do the update etc... that's what I thougth which may very well be wrong.
interresting.. will try not to kill it and report back
Anybody found an answer? I have to wake up my phone from standby before it does it's scheduled recieving?

High Data Usage. Which app?

Hi @all,
I have a problem. I´ve got my mobile data flat today. Everything is working fine but my X10 (or an app) is transmitting all the time. In 5 hours 50MB had been transmitted without doing anything on the phone. The phone was only in idle mode on the desk.
So how to find out which app is transmitting? NetCounter only shows that 50MB are transmitted but not from which app.
So, the point is that my battery drains very fast.
And the second point is, that after 200MB my UMTS flat is converted to a GPRS flat.
Can you help me?
Quite a few people reported this problem with data transfer.
You might want to disable Automatic search for updates in Settings, About Phone, Software update and also somebody said that disabling google talk might help.
Give it a try.
Thx. How do I disable google talk?
I didn't try but i assume you can use a startup auditor or any other app to do that.
Uncheck it and then restart the phone.
I had the problem with the engadget widget.
With searching for updates and this app every day my mobile made up to 150mb traffic...

Disable 'background data usage' under data synchronization in settings. Gtalk does infact use a lot of data... but you may also lose auto sync of your calendar due to this.
Hm... I don´t want to lose my calender sync. so I will keep this option on.
I made a Reset on my phone and will try to detect which app is causing this data usage by installing app by app and check the data transmission.
Seems, that an app caused the high data usage.
Since the reset (yesterday) the data usage is normal. I´ve now installed some basic apps like
Netcounter
Home++
Beautiful widgets
and everything is ok.
So now the phone is turned on since 18 hours with data enabled background data usage to sync gmail and calender and the used traffic is about 2 MB with updating the weather widget and received 4 mails.
So my conclusion is, that it has nothing to do with gmail/gtalk/calender sync.
Thanks anyway for all your help.
it was me that said google talk a few days ago caused me to use 70mb in about 6 hours, i now use an app called taskpanel and ive got google talk set to auto kill and everything else set to ignore. since then ive had no problems with data usage and all my calendars and mail etc works as it should.

im pretty sure if you started up google talk you would have the same problem again, ive been having it intermittently since i got the phone about twice every week but since i killed it its not happened once.
I´m not using Google Talk, so I have never started it bevore. But to be sure I will disable it by taskpanel.
GEEEEEZZZZZ
I just got my X10 three days ago, did the 2.1 upgrade two days ago and have already spent R150 just on data...its rediculous!!!!
Previously i had the Sony ericsson p1i and the X1i and didnt have this problem.
What app can i dounload to detect how much MB is being used and what app is using it.

I think the only way is to download an app from market called titanium backup
and select to disable (or uninstall it)
but to do it you will have to root your phone
If you remove gtalk you can't use market any more.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
its rediculous...there must be an app to block, limit data and tell us which app is consuming most MB.
PLS guys pls help me out...pls guys pls

[Q] News app misbehaves... can it be disabled?

I installed Watchdog Lite on my Tbolt and it constantly tells me that the News app is overstepping its bounds CPU-wise. I tell the monitor to kill the app but it starts back up again of its own accord.
Is there any way to disable this app without rooting my phone? Or even WITH rooting my phone? I'm not even using it anymore.

if you are rooted, titanium backup and 'freeze' the app or delete it completely.
but i would also check to make sure under sync settings it isnt set to sync.
You can try startup auditor and disable the app... if its a system app, I wouldnt touch it.
Thanks to you both for the suggestions. I've made sure it isn't syncing, and I installed the free version of Startup Auditor and sicced it on the app. We'll see what happens...
either uninstall it, or root and use titanium back up to freeze it.
Just to follow up, the News app hasn't been an issue since I took those measures earlier today. Thanks to all!
just wondering, what kind of readings were you getting from the app?

It was basically telling me that the app was exceeding CPU-usage limits. I don't recall noting quantitative information. Didn't really care, I just didn't want it sucking up battery for no reason.
what is the news app called in /system/app/ i cannot find it.
Dunno... I can't find it either.
Htc changed it now... Try htcgreader.apk **backup incase you come across a problem** i remember on my incredible there might be some sense stuff that relies on that apk....just saying..
yeah, like the weather.apk is required to view specific dates in the calander
Hi all...TBolt newbie here. I think the "news" app is bloatware as it was already installed with many other apps on my Verizon TBolt. Like an idiot, I subscribed to several news sources and now cannot remove them and the app continues to ask at numerous random times for more sources. I've tried killing the task with ES Task Manager, but it keeps re-initializing itself. Hopefully there's some way of getting rid of this intrusive piece of crapware, short of rooting or custom ROM, which I have no idea how to do!

[Q] App to tell you what is using your GPS?

Is there an app or log or something that will tell me what is using my GPS and WIFI? I'm starting to get horrible battery life because something on my phone is trying to access WiFi/GPS every hour or so... and where I work, there is neither.
I did a search and found that Lookout security does something similar, but I'm not looking for a full-blown solution like that, and I know how "intrusive" lookout can be. Just a simple "this app used your GPS at this time" etc so I can delete the app or change the settings.
any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Better Battery Stats might work.
I know this probably isn't what you are looking for, but LBE Privacy Guard will alert you when programs try to access you GPS (or other permissions). Facebook always would try to get my location, then I blocked the app from accessing the GPS. I'm not sure if it logs events though.
Note - some people question the legitemacy of LBE...so just a heads up on that. I've never had a problem and never hurts my battery.

Disable Exchange Sync via App

I've decided recently that six hours of battery from my Nexus S is not going to cut it any more. I need to keep using Exchange (the main culprit), but not necessarily all day.
I'm looking for an app that will disable Exchange's sync (but nothing else) when run. I plan to run it through Llama while at work so that I don't need to manually disable it.
Any thoughts as to an app that might work?
