Hi everybody,
I've tested flashing custom UOT themes on Gingerbread and they work just great. I've included a link to the stock android files so you can now cook your own custom themes in UOT Kitchen. The only elements that don't work are boot animations lock screens. Use amend scripting and load up the two files in the zip below and you're good to go. Have fun! Once you have the zip from UOT, just flash it like a rom in recovery.
Download:
https://www.box.net/shared/ueuslkzquip0bksvucva
Zip contains framework and system ii files for stock GB. May work on ROMs but untested.

No, no, no, perhaps I should clarify. These are the files you need to plug into UOT kitchen to make YOUR OWN themes. You can make a gb theme if you want...it's all there.

Makes me sad, i was going to use it xD
seems like a good site just its been updating sence yesterday
if you pick something that doesnt work will it just not work or will it brick and force you to recover?
It just won't show. It's not really optimized for stock motorolla stuff and some of our files have wonky names compared to stock android stuff so things don't match up. When we get true custom ROMs we will be able to do more. At this point, everything is essentially reskinned and reworked blur under the hood.

edit: nevermind.
Anyways, useful post! Thank you.
Ok the kitchen is back online so you all should be good to go. Remember these files are for stock GB and may not work on custom ROMs. Use at your own risk!

Hey, euro, could you somehow possible post a zip for the default theme so that we can go back to that if we so desire? By that I mean the default gb one specifically on our x2s

Actually just replacing your modified APKs with the stock ones above should take you back to stock. If you want a flashable zip I can make one but it might be a while.
You can also flash themes on top of each other if you don't like how it turns out.

Here are orange themed SystemUI and framework-res. I made these from the April 12 nightly. I'm not sure if they will work with any other versions of CM9. Definitely make a nandroid backup before you try them. You can push them via adb or copy them to /system/app/SystemUI.apk and /system/framework/framework.res.apk using something like Root Explorer. If you use something like Root Explorer mount the folder read/write, copy the files, and make sure the permissions are rw-r--r-- like the other files in those folder. Then, simply reboot.
I'm not sure if I'll get around to ever theming any more stuff orange, but it can't hurt to let me know stuff I missed or did wrong.
Enjoy!

Updated!
Updated for the 20120418 official nightly...and zipaligned this time
SystemUI.apk - It adds a new set of battery icons with a little keyboard. I assume that is for when you have an external keyboard attached.
Trebuchet.apk (NEW) - Orange theme added for homescreens and appdrawer. It also replaces the blue architecture wallpaper with an orangified version. It's pretty hideous though. I'll try to come up with something better at some point.
framework-res.apk - Now available and hopefully working too. I've never had any success copy/pasting framework-res. I always have to use adb.

No worries. I'm not really sure I'll be able to keep up with updating this anyway. It's kind of a pain. Hopefully, CM9 Reloaded will support tablets soon.
The newest nightly has Theme Chooser for CM9. Hopefully, someone will make an orange theme. I don't yet know how to make Theme Chooser themes.
Does anyone know where the png files are for the notification bar?
In gb It used to be in systemUI.apk but i cant seem to see any images that i changed last time in ics.

ICS has changed how it is handled. Now it is a color code and not an image. You can make it an image by redirecting the XML files to point to an image instead as I have done.

yes but you will need 2 version of apktool to do it. One to decompile and another to compile ICS. Then in the layout folder of the system ui you will need to change the xmls for the status bar to android:drawable/status_bar which is in the framework-res apk. You will also need to change the XML in the system UI folder. There is no guide. I found it by trial and error to be honest. A lot of ICS uses color hex codes instead of images now but thankfully they left the unused images in the framework-res folder

What ive done so far is.
add android:background @drawable/pulldown to statusbartracking.xml

I used the correct syntax in the actual files but still nothing.
Does that sound like something you did?

As for editing xml values you can simply copy the xml file out and edit it using your favourite editor and then copy them back in.
Hope I was able to help some OS X users.
/edit By the way, this method (WinRar or muCommander) also works for editing update.zip. This means you can customise the rom (add/remove system apks, change the boot animation etc) before you flash it.
The one thing I'm having trouble with is the green bars on the bottom of the notification toggles. I can't find where they're at.
