I believe the board lets you edit your title after you've posted.
I haven't started doing Android development yet, but I did a Google search for 'offline android api' and the top hits seemed like they were answering your question -- did you try that?
I don't think you can download API's offline

It has been quite some time since the HTC touch pro came and since the very beginning there was talk about running android on it. I mean I remember a month after the Touch Pro came out someone had Android running on it, although it was just a proof of concept and didn't have touch or anything working.
So how has is been coming? Is Android finally a viable option for the Touch Pro?
I mean I would love to try android on my phone, as long as it works with bluetooth and the hardware buttons...that's really all I need. I can manage without wifi, speaker, etc.

Sorry I didn't know about the wiki and I did do a search for android in the ROM development forum and didn't come up with much.
But I was just wondering what kind of experiences people have had with it and wether it has been working smoothly.

A) link is broken... please fix!!
link is fine, but it seems like connect utb is down. Give them until tommorow
Can somebody help me with a weird problem?
Everything boots up just fine, but when I follow the how-to for my mobile networking my hardware keys(home, back, dial & disconnect) won't work!
Does anyone have a solution for that?
edit: it seems to be that the home and dial key are also left and the back and disconnect key are acting like a right key
thx in advance!
You asked for an opinion right?
I did try the android ports, even tried the one that's more recent but I didn't find them usable. They're too complicated and things don't work as expected. Maybe in time they will create a usable port for the touch pro but by then I will want to change my phone...I'm considering that right now too...
BUT. Some quality work has been done and it is a really cool experience. I appreciate all the work that has been put into that project.
Does anyone know if there is a similar Android app to this fabulous WinMo app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394203
If this is not in the correct place, please move it.
I figured since the WinMo version was created by someone on XDA, maybe someone here has, or would, create an Android version?

I can't really tell if either of those apps does the same thing as Remote Tracker, but in searching for them I ran across Theft Aware.

It seems like it might do the trick. Not free though...

RemoteTracker for Android is almost there!
Hello all,
I know I was out for a very long time. But now it's time to release the first version for Android. But, before I go to Google Play, I need to test it in several devices. So, I released the first release candidade version in http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk.
There is also a PRO version, with more features, like capture all images from camera, take a picture from front camera when SEND button is pressed and more. You will can buy it from Play, but helping me with tests, translations or anything you will get it for free.
As I said before, RemoteTracker for Windows Mobile could be a success because the users, not me. And you can do it again for Android
There is a long way to go. I'm just starting the project.
All the Best!!!
That good news, I'm downloading and testing!

hi everybody has anybody used this site, ive tried to download one or two apps but they use the tag reader system and i carnt get it to work.
It's not really clear on the site, but it looks like it may be an Android site. If it is, that may explain the trouble.
While surfing the page I found these statement under "how to download Apps"
It is often hard to find apps through Android Market, which is why I have included the QR codes (the funny looking squares) on my posts so you can scan them with your HTC phone and download the Apps straight away.

Thread moved to Q&A.
Hi Guys,
Cant be the first to think of this or ask but cant find any info on XDA or google other than the two links at the bottom.
I know we are some time off a stable ICS build for the SGS2 but once we are there wouldn't it be awesome if when you plugged into a monitor/tv via HDMI cable instead of just mirroring the phone UI it instead switched to the ICS Tablet UI and enabled all the apps for fragment views and big screen viewing etc? Operation through bluetooth mouse/keyboard perhaps? Then you could use your phone as a PC rather like the Atrix Webtop (but with same OS).
I found this article but seems it doesn't work properly on the phone as the status bar disappears and this is not through HDMI/MHL LINK
Some info about modding dpi but not in context of getting Tablet mode LINK
Some poor soul asking something similar on CM forums with no replies LINK
Just an idea anyway....
Bridgstfer
Great idea
Nice thought, bridgstfer.
Might it be easier to start with linking to TV through WiFi (need WiFi-enabled TV or Blu-ray) - the Android hot-spot data interface function already works pretty good.
Would be really awesome if properly implemented, but it will need a dev team putting a lot of work into it...
That's a really good question, waiting for a good answer.
Maybe this is a stupid question and I apologize in advance.
But maybe someone can direct me in the right direction.
I want to register an account with my weshare (car-sharing) app.
They authenticate via email which includes a link to the URL "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas" which my browser opens (lineage 18.1 with google-apps).
Of course this fails due to "unknown url scheme" etc.
How does a stock Android handle this link? Turn it over to the right app? But how?
And if so, does a stock Android capture _every_ link I klick on?
How does this work? (normally)

Hmh, this is really strange.
The support says it works on iphone and "normal" Android. (The whole Volkswagen login thing is based on this. So I really believe it works "normally") But I am also sure it does not work on _my_ lineage.... As expected my browser (any browser) opens with an error...
And this is as it should work, I think. But how does it work on all the other phones
(the support also says it _only_ works on smartphones. So there is something happening I don't understand. Something like the OS scanning the URL and passing it to the right app.)

the link doesn't work "as it is" according to the weshare-support.
It magically only works on the phone.... ( it is supposed to work there, the support tells me. )
Ahhh, after one week chatting with the support this diskussion with you gave the right hint!
As you confirmed that the OS does not interfere I had the idea that therefore somehow the browser might pass the token back to the OS somehow..... (I am not a developer)
So I installed chrome on the smartphone and "alas" it works!!!
(chrome on the PC gives xda-open... error which is a hint as well.)
So I _have_ to use Chrome :-(
I already came across the next "bug". The street I live in exists twice in this city but the app only lets me choose the first "hit". So my postal number will be wrong! WTF....
As far as I know, this specially formatted URL like "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas" is called an app link or a deep link.
There are many similar deep links.
For example, some URLs as below:
market://details?id=xadave.SmartUnitConverterFree_Google
amzn://apps/android?asin=B00Q3V4VNC
......
If you enter the second deep link above in the address bar of your mobile browser, it will open up the Amazon Appstore app on your mobile device and directly link to the detail page for a specific app which is available on the Amazon Appstore.
And the first app link will open up the Google Play Store app on your Android devices and directly link to some app in the Play Store.
So, I think your app link, "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas", will link into your weshare app, too.
Android App Links are a special type of deep link that allow your website URLs to immediately open the corresponding content in your Android app (without requiring the user to select the app).
