Timezone issue after OTA - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Before the OTA, I would occasionally get the prompts to update the timezone setting, so I just ignored them and was glad to see that was something to be fixed on this update.
I currently have both my Timezone and Date/Time settings on the "use network-provided" setting, however tonight I experienced something strange - when I was in the next town, about 10 miles away, at some point my phone switched to EDT when I am in CDT. I went into my settings and everything was still set for Auto however in the greyed out timezone setting it said "GMT -4:00, Eastern Daylight Time" So I unchecked the automatic time zone box and changed the time zone back to CDT, then checked it again. Some time later it switched itself back again.
I've just unchecked the auto time zone box for now since I'm not travelling, but this is worse than before - it used to just prompt about it but it could be dismissed, now it's just automatically changing it to the wrong time zone.
Anyone else experience this yet?

I took mine off of automatic and haven't had the issue again

Time Changing by Itself?!?

So every few days my Titan will default to the Atlantic time zone instead of Eastern time, thus making my time off 1 hour. Very irritating indeed! I've disabled automatic time updates however it's still changing by itself. Any ideas? I'm running DCD 3.2.6.
Maybe.
If you go to phone -> menu -> options -> Services -> time synchronizations -> Get Settings
If the setting is on to synch time to the mobile network, try to turn it off.
Maybe.
Thanks for the response, but from my original post: "I've disabled automatic time updates". That's clearly not the problem, as it's been disabled for quite some time.

Sorry, I'm blind.
When I read that I was thinking you meant the time update in activesync.
Can it be related to activesync?
As far as I know Activesync doesn't change system time automatically or otherwise for that matter?!? If it does please let me know.

Yes it can.
Sync the PDA.
Go to Activesync -> Tools -> Options
Select the PC name you are syncing with. Then select 'settings'. There is a check box for "sync date & time" there.
Actually, it does. I'm in Mexico city and AS will change the time zone for my mogul every time I sync to match the time zone on my PC. That stopped last week though; since we went out of (or is it into??) DST again this Sunday.
Older version of WinMo (i.e. 2003 and 5) made this change permanent, but I keep mine with auto time updates and it reverts back to the proper time when I turn the screen off and on again after the sync is finished.
Also, Outlook needs to be patched for proper sync to occur. Check this Microsoft article to correct the problem.
Let us know if this helped.
are you using garmin mobile xt? there was an issue of this happening, although it was strictly to 8:00 time change it might be something to look at .
Nope, I don't use Garmin XT, nor do I sync with my computer by plugging it in and using ActiveSync with a cable. Ever since I started using an Exchange Server I just sync the data that way. Strange thing is, the date hasn't had a random change in over a week now, while other weeks it would change on a daily basis. Bizarro!

[Q] Problem with My Location & Time Zones => DST change error?

Hi,
I have an HD2, with the standard Telstra ROM v. 1.72.841.0 (82124) WWE. I've noticed some strange behaviour that has me worried as we approach DST change.
On soft reset, the "World Clock" function always seems to default back to "My Location", rather than letting me choose which city I'm in (which I've selected prior to soft reset). Also, it always puts the City (under "Local Time Settings") to "GMT+10 Brisbane". Now, I am in GMT+10, but in Melbourne, not Brisbane. Brisbane has different DST rules to Melbourne. I can change my city & timezone to Melbourne/"GMT+10 Canberra/Melbourne/Sydney" but as I say every soft reset forces it back to "GMT+10 Brisbane".
So, what will happen come DST change? Will the rules the device picks up come from the "GMT+10 Brisbane" setting?
How can I turn off the device continually going back to "My Location"? I tried turning off the HTC Location Service but this doesn't seem to effect this.
FYI, I tried HTC support but they did not have any clear fix for this, nor was it noted as an existing problem.
My thanks in advance to the collective wisdom of the forum!
OK, have answered my own question with help from HTC support. The time zone was being incorrectly set by the phone talking to the phone network for time sync.
To switch this off, you go to Settings>All Settings>Personal>Phone. You then go to the "GSM/UMTS Services" tab, and select Time Synchronization>Get Settings. You then uncheck "Automatic change time zone and clock". For me, this was the thing that was forcing my phone into the incorrect time zone. I am now able to manually select the zone I want and not have it changed back incorrectly.
Hope this helps someone!

[Q] Clock gone mad

Hi, I thought someone could help me out here. Clock on my htc hd2 gone mad. Let me explain.
At some point last week after I installed new ROM (Omega) I've noticed that clock on my phone started to show wrong time (only hours are wrong, minutes are always correct). Event if I correct time manually they will add 2 hours to this time at some point during the day. I've checked time zone, and it is correct (GMT). The other locale settings are correct as well. I'm not sure if it happened right after I've installed this ROM or few days later. Few days ago I've installed different ROM (ChuckyROM lite), I've never had any problems with it. But again the same problem. I haven't installed any additional applications except from Microsoft MyPhone to sync contacts and texts(Time zone in myphone web interface is set to GMT as well).
Here are details shown on load:
r:2.09.50.29_2
g:15.36.50.07U
d:3.14.0466 8G
Any ideas?
Its because of the DST change recently.....
this cab from Dutty should solve it, install, soft reset, set the correct time and everything should be ok.
and check that you are dont have the intenet time ticked in the settings
because everytime you connect to your pc it will check the internet time and correct it
or just disable time synchronization, settings>menu>all settings>personal>GSM/UMTS servs>Time synchronization and untick.
And also you can choose to sync time in settings>data services, Internet time sync.
It helps me
Great, thank you all.
Hopefully I'll no longer will wake up at 5am because of wrong time in alarm clock
It's a DST problem
DST Means Daylight Savings Time, also known as Summertime.
The problem is caused by NITZ (Network Identity and Time Zone) a service hidden in:
Windows Settings >> Personal >> Phone >> GSM/UMTS Services >> Time synchronization.
This service does set the phone clock back into Summertime mode in registry.
See this post for more info.

Man, you are a life saver. I was just about ready to put an ad to sell my hd2, cause I am using it for my work and appointments are crucial to me.
The cab works fine

After we (UK) changed to daylight saving I had many of the random time changes that others on here had. I unchecked the time sync in the menus and then all was well...
That was until I noticed that now whenever I receive a text message from anyone on whichever network - the time that shows on the text is one hour ahead of the actual time. E.g. if I receive a text in the afternnon at 4:00pm the text message will show 5:00pm.
Any ideas?

Same here.
4:00pm phone time, 5:00pm text message time and 3:00pm G-alarm time.
Confusing? Yes.

[Q] Atrix Time Zone Bug

I work and live in different time zones, I noticed the atrix doesnt update the time unless I turn off the wireless and then re-enable it. Is this supposed to be normal?
settings -> Date and time
is automatic checked? how often are you on wifi, and how often on mobile data? I'm not sure it gets a constant check when on wifi.

The time is technically correct except for it is an hour less than it should be. It is set to automatic, im on wifi 20% of the day the rest mobile data. If I turn on airplane mode then turn it back off the correct time is displayed. I think they may have a bug
I travel for business quite and go between time-zones. I also find same issue happening with my new Atrix phone. If I turn the airplane mode on and off several times, time correct based on time zone I am in. Automatic date and time setting checked on.
Hi Everyone,
Atrix did not adjust automatically the time fthis morning. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?
In date and time the 'automatic' settings is checked.
I had to reboot for the time to be automatically updated.
Thank you.
Alarm went off an hour earlier than all the manually set clocks.
No glitch here. In Indiana on an eastern time zone.
I travel for work and the Atrix has worked fine for me in different time zones. My captivate failed to auto-switch one time though - so i think it has something to do with tower signals more then phone.
I reported this at launch, Im in indiana and live in CST but work in EST. This phone has not correctly changed timezones once, and didnt even update to the correct time for daylight savings time yesterday. The only way i've found to fix is either turn on/ turn off airplane mode or cycle power.

Clock has wrong time!

Hi Guys,
Ive spent a good amount of time today getting HyperDrive 15 (with safestrap) on my Vzw GS4. Its on and configured the way I like it, except for one thing.
The time is 1 hour ahead of what it should be. I think its not accounting for daylight saving time.
I can manually enter the timezone and it displays the correct time, but as soon as I switch it to get the time from the network, it bumps the time forward an hour.
Ive even tried the "Clock Sync" app and it also shows the time (both atomic and device) as being 1 hour ahead of what it should be.
Ive looked all over and I cant figure out how to get the network time to display the right time.
Any advice?

What time zone are you in?
You say it's "not accounting for daylight savings time" but if daylight savings time is on, then you would be 1 hour ahead of standard time, which would account for you showing one hour fast if you're in an area that doesn't observe DST.
If the "Automatic time zone" is putting you in the wrong zone, then switch that off, set the proper timezone, and then see how it goes. If that works, try turning "Automatic time zone" back on - if that pushes you an hour ahead, contact your network provider and ask them to fix it.

Im on mountain time. When i use network time, it causes the phone to be 1 hour ahead of what it should be. I can uncheck those, set the time, then recheck "use network time" and the time will stay correct, but if I set it to use the network time zone, then it causes the time to move forward an hour again.
