Anyone else having this issue: my home key needs to be pressed a number of times or firmly before it reacts. I'm affraid the button is starting to go.

Mine started doing it a while back and it turned out to be my screen protector. I was using Stealth Guard protectors at the time.

Hmm, Im not using a screen protector.
Are those buttons along the bottom actually buttons, or are they just touch sensititve?
See if it tends to work better if you press it as soon as the button back lights go off.... I had to return my first vibrant because of this hardware issue.

Yes, it works better when the backlight goes off! Damn it, I don't want to have to return this phone. Its easy to get into download mode...
Could it have anything to do with the rom I'm running? (Obsidian v4) its supposed to support a kernel with backlight notification...

Cn removing the pre installed screen protector help??
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Tips
Tricks on increasing sensitivity of the capacitive buttons :
1- Swiping upwards on them
2- More area of ur finger to land on them
3- Touching just above the dots
4- Removing the pre installed protector (not advised to do that)
Is there any problem in removing the stock screen protector

I removed mine, but found that the screen was over sensitive, and trying to use Swype outdoors when there was any wind was impossible because it kept sensing the wind.
Only take the screen protector off if you are planning to replace it with a better one.
Cnt we just remove it... Isnt the glass scratch resistant??
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
there is a mineral glass, that should protect your display against scratches, even though I would recommend you to buy the screen protector,it´s not expensive and maybe one day you´ll find it useful
Does ICS make the camera button on the S lag a little when trying to take a picture from the screen being off? It seemed a bit more responsive when I was on GB.
The camera button has 2 buttons the first one if you press softly is the Auto Focus And if you press it firmly it is to take a picture or record video.

I also have a massive lag trying to enter camera. Had it on stock ics, have it in ka10. Can't find out what causes it.

Hi everyone
can anyone please help me find a way to use the camera button of my sony xperia s as a multitasking key
i have upgraded to ICS but i still have to long press the home key to launch recent app list which is very annoying.
Thanks.
Its like gingerbread, long press to show recent apps, as far I know it can't be done yet

Im not experienced in this field but my logic tells me that its only use is for the camera since its a hardwarebutton.
Good idea though.
In case you want the soft buttons that ICS provides there is a thread called on screen buttons mod in the dev section.

Don't you think changing the function of camera key would be a bit weird? Everytime you have to switch between apps, you'll have to reach the cam key. Waste of time, if you ask me. And I don't think it has been done.
You'd better enable the default on screen buttons of ICS.

Hello,
I'm just asking something about taking pictures underwater. As far as I know, there are so many review about "video recording" not taking pictures under water using ur Z2.
So, maybe some of you already trying to take a pictures under water, as far as I know, you can take a Pictures if it on timer (i try it but no working) because it's not working when in the water. And another option is using smile detection, but it's not really effective i think,
The last thing i know is using camera button near the volume buttons, it's ok to using it under water ? Will the water coming in to the phones when i pressed it ? anybody have the experienced for this ?? thanks.
its IP58 Certifies meaning that with this phone you can almost do anything underwater exept open the flaps
underwater the screen doesent respont but you can use the camera button

Best way I've found is open the app, and either start the video then submerge the phone and video, or use the camera button to snap away.
I've found it only works when fully submerged. If only half the phone is under then the water presses buttons, however when it's fully under its fine. Must be that the water is acting as your fingers so when only half or part submerged it just presses there, however when it's completely under it doesn't quite know where to press, so it doesn't. If that makes any sense haha. My advice. Fully submerge and either start recording before, or for pictures, use the shutter button on the side
Attached is a quick one I just took

In small apps there is a touch block floating app. I'm pretty sure it's there so you can take underwater pictures without the screen going mental.

What's that? Is it a setting or an app you download?

Press the multitasking button, then the small grey arrow in the bottom left corner. There should be an icon called touch block right there. It's preinstalled on the phone.

I found that focusing on something out of the water then taking a picture underwater works best. But that's just me.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm little confused. I know touch block already, but how can i take a pictures under water since I can't press the camera button ? using a timer ?
It just blocks the screen. Shutter button still works.

Nice advice, I'll try later.. so it's Ok for real to using the camera button ?
Absolutely. I've done it loads. Only way to take pics underwater. Personally I think that's the main reason why it's there

Thanks for all of your experiences and knowledge. I think all the answer is really helpful thanks everyone. Cheers :good::good:
You can try "Underwater Camera (Waterproof Camcorder)" , use the "VOLMUE UP / VOLMUE DOWN" button to start and stop the camera, and turn off the auto focus, focus on infinity.
