Can't move backup folder from phone to pc - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I made a few backups using CLockwormod onto my int and ext SD cards. I now want to transfer them to my computer to save some space, but that's where the problem lies. I'm not sure why but it automatically disconnects me and gives me an error as soon as I attempt to move any of the backup folders from the SD cards to the PC. Moving image files to and from the phone and PC is fine. It's as if some program locked those folders and I can't figure out why. I have Rom Manager and Clockword Mod Recovery installed. Please help, my only other option is to delete the backups through rom manager. USB Debugging mode is on
THanks
Found a guide outlining the steps. My problem is with Step 4.

Droid explorer
Download this program to your computer to transfer the files
http://de.codeplex.com/releases/view/87215

I managed to connect my device using droid explorer, located the backup folder in the internal sd, and clicked on "copy to local computer" and it is still hanging at the transferring files screen with 0 bytes moved and "Copying 0 items". I'm wondering these backup files are being used during the transfer, which could be preventing me from moving them. Doesn't make any sense since i dont think any background processes would need to use backup files...

I gave up. The same thing. Phone doesn't stay connected. So I went back to my old habit of using ftp file transfer. I use Filezilla on the PC and use FTPServer (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=ftpserver) on the S3.

I've already accounted for the usb disconnecting on screen lock. Set display to never turn off while idling, turned off power saving mode, disabled screen lock, and that maintains the usb connection...but the problem is that i can't transfer files! Guess my only other option is to upload to dropbox u.u

UPDATE: I see my phone in My Computer but kies will not recognize it. This is a stock rooted Samsung S3 SGH-T999. Turned USB Debugging off, Updated Kies to latest version, Installed samsung usb drivers

Help me ! I can't copy file from PC to Samsung T959 !

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S T959 2.1 of TMobile
I have installed on my computer samsung drivers for mobile and Kies.
My computer is using Win 7 32-bit
Everyday, I plug the cable into my PC and choose Mount, after that I copy data from PC to Samsung normally
Today, when the cable attached to the PC, then select Mount, also appears that 2 drives H & I but I can't copy data to SamSung. When I copied, the PC alert :
Copying
Discovering items.....
Time remain : Calculating
Data Transfer : Calculating
How then is run from morning to noon without the copy is complete, although I only have a 1MB image file. Reset your computer and the SS, but still the same error.
So my computer is corrupted or SS that you failed? I try to connect your computer with the N95, the copy machine is normal.
please help me how to I can copy data normally ?
i had a problem copying files to my vibrant, I formated my internal 16gb memory and it fixed the problem.
i think its
settings>sd phone storage>format.
I would uninstall kies. I never use it. After you do that plug in the phone and you should then use the top pull down menu and it will have a connect usb icon and button. hit that it will then say connected and it will open 2 folders F and G or something like that one is the internal sd and the other is the external And do what the posting said format the external sd card if it is new or you have not yet. you can do it on the computer it would be fat-32 ONLY
If you have wifi you can use the app Wifi File Explorer. Costs about $1 for the Pro version. I use it all the time for transferring files. Very easy and works great. You access your phones storage using your PC web browser. No cables, no problems.

Thanks! I just tried that App. It works great. It doesn't seem to see my MicroSD card though, only the internal memory shows up (on my Vibrant).......unless I am missing something.

Shows up on mine. Look for the sd folder. If you see "Up To Parent Directory" at the top of the directory list click on it because you're not at the root directory level. From root you should see sd/.

[Q] Help - GS2 connection to PC

All,
I've tried everything and I cannot get my PC's to recognise my GS2.
It's not even constant, sometimes I connect it via USB to the PC and it comes up as unrecongised device, other times it will detect as a camera as GT-i9100 (regardless of it I select MTP)... I've reinstalled Kiers I don't know how many times and have even manually installed the drivers but still no luck.
So I gave up with that as I only want to connect to Odin to get rid of this crap software. So I downloaded the CWM root package onto my SD Card and booted into recovery, went to apply the zip and it says it cannot mount /sdcard as not such directory exists?!?! Now I don't have an external SD Card but the .zip file is located on the internal storage in /sdcard/Downloads.
I have a Mac at home that allowed a connection into Kiers first time to update to stock ICS - should I just abandon this trying to connect to Windows and try and find an alternative to Odin for Mac?
Thanks for any help at all.
Dan.
but the .zip file is located on the internal storage in /sdcard/Downloads.
NO try copy pasting update zip file on root of SD card then try....
Edit : this rooting methed you can only try on ICS vesrions
Thanks ZACQ8.
I just thought I'd try another USB cable as a last shot, and OMG it started installing the drivers Still failed to install the Mobile MTP Device but it's getting there...
You have to use the same USB port when you connect your SGSII.
I noticed that if I plugged it into another port the phone would come up as unrecognised - this was all tested on a few PCs when the phone was on GB and connecting as an external hard drive.
I haven't tested if the problem still exists with ICS, as it do 'external hard drive'.
Seems like it was the cable all along...
Phone now recognised in Odin and Device Manager.
Pile of crap.

[Q] Deleting a file with "write protection"...

I have this folder (with files from a download) that I have tried to delete from the phone storage (not the external SD Card).
No matter the method attempted, I keep getting:
"Cannot delete folder: The storage is write-protected.
Remove the write-protection and try again".
I've tried many ways on the phone itself (through Root Explorer...and I did make sure the RW is active), debugging has been tried on as well as off, etc...
Through the PC (Win7 SP1) as well (debugging on and off for this too). All drivers work for the phone, and no other problems. Can easily transfer files from the computer to the device.
I'm stock rooted with overclock kernel (but don't keep it overclocked).
I don't want/need this folder/files. Its not a system folder/file. I have moved it into my 'download' folder just to keep an eye on it. If I try to 'move it' to the external card, all it does is 'copy'.
Any and all helpful information would be greatly appreciated, as this is driving me nuts trying to delete this thing.

When I come across a suck folder like that I open the folder and delete each file one-by-one. Then delete the empty folder.
For persistent files I've had to change the file extention to delete it.
I copied all my files to PC and had to format my card. Then I re copied all the files to the card.
Nothing I did could save it.
Edit I read incorrectly. Its your internal card.

I have the same issue...the internal sd card is giving me a write protection error.
Any way to fix it without doing a full wipe?
Thank you!
Why not backup ur important sd card commponents to ur PC , then goto custom recovery do internal/external sd card full wipe and then restart ur phone ! it worked for me. the restore all ur backup files.

Acutally I just solved it with really easy way on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I was studying formus for 2 hours and not one answer or advice helped So I did this:
1. turned off USB debugging in developers menu
2. after connecting my phone to pc I switched the phone to behave as media device (MTP) and not as camera (PTP) (in notification bar there will be "connected as a media device/as a camera" option after connection to PC - click on it and swtich it)
3. now everything works like a charm and I can delete and write to the SD card without a problem

It does not work your idea
open the phone then remove battery, (without switching off the phone) after you removed battery remove sd card also, and wait for 10seconds and put in sd card again, put battery too and switch on your phone, after this u can delete everything u couldn't. Hope it works for you too.
When I switch to media device than when I click on "phone" or "card" when I click, it says, device has stopped working or been disconnected.
Help!
1. Flash A Recovery ( I recommend TWRP).
2. Then Go to Advance >> File Manager.
3. Browse the File/ Folder you wanna delete.
4. Open the folder and go to option's (the blue coloured box with a tickmark).
5. Select Delete, and Swipe To Confirm.
(This procedure is for TWRP. Procedure may be different, depending on your recovery)

[Q] Win 7 PC Won't Open Rezound's Greyed-Out "Removable Disks"

Verizon HTC Rezound, rooted, using stock ROM with some bloatware uninstalled. Android 4.0.3 (4.03.605.2 710RD, received OTA from Verizon ages ago... I really haven't messed much with this phone).
Windows 7 Pro (both my laptop and my desktop... I've tried this two places now).
Whenever I plug it into one of my computers, I can only open the drive that has TL-Bootstrap.exe and the drv and img folders. The SD card and the internal storage (faked SD card, I guess it is) come up as Removable Disks, but they're greyed out and I can't open them in Windows Explorer. I don't get a popup for connection type whenever I connect the phone to a computer, but I have gone in the settings and set it to ask every time and also to default to disk drive.
I've cleaned my system of drivers, installed HTC_BMP_USB_Driver_x64_1.0.5375.msi and HTCDriver_4.2.0.001.exe and the drivers appear to have installed correctly. I don't think this is a computer problem... I'm thinking it's a Rezound problem. Phone works fine otherwise, and I can see the SD card using Astro and/or Root Explorer.
I've tried it with USB Debugging on and USB Debugging off. Fastboot is off.
I've uninstalled almost every program (I'm going to wipe it and give it to a friend, but want to fix this issue first).
Still installed:
Titanium Backup
TrustGo
Twicca
Verizon Messages
SMS Backup & Restore
SuperSU
SD Maid + Pro Unlocker
Android Lost
Greenify
Better Battery Stats
Barcode Scanner
BatteryGuru
Apex Launcher
BusyBox
AdFree
Can anyone help me figure out WTF is going on? I just want to copy stuff to and from the SD card to my computer, and she's going to want to do the same to restore her programs.

Guess this phone is kind of a dead model, eh?
Download the latest HTCSync and install as administrator.
Try a live Linux CD... I am guessing this is more a PC config than anything else.
If all else fails, use ES Explorer or something similar and copy every thing to external SD and do a factory default with the card removed and try again

[Q] Storage contents not being shown on computer (device without CID)

Hi guys
Since I lost the CID of my RAZR XT910, I'v been using Boot Menu Manager. There's one annoying problem has been always bugging me.
The contents of both internal and external storage are not being correctly shown on computer (Windows 7), no matter the device is connected as MTP or mass storage.
For example, I create a folder with file manager on the device and then connect phone to computer, this folder may not be displayed. It seems that the contents are cached on the computer and never get refreshed. This happens most of the time.
Everytime I transfer files I have to use a card reader, and this is very inconvenient.
Does anyone know if this is caused by Boot Menu Manager or there's something wrong with my computer system?
Thanks for any infomation in advance.
