Help! S2 won't turn on - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I know there has been many threads like this while i have been searching through the forum, but i can't find what i need to know!
Basically just rooted/flashed my S2 with new resurrection rom and on reboot it won't turn on, I can get into download mode and when i plug a charger in the charging animation comes up but nothing happens, just a empty battery with a circle in the middle!
What to do?
Edit: Currently restoring old backup, Fingers crossed!
Back up worked!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II Wont Turn On - Please Help

Hi
Today I rebooted my Samsung Galaxy S 2 and for some reason it is not working anymore.
No idea why this has happened
I tried everything Recovery Mode - Cant get into
Download Mode I cant get into
Tried removing the battery then putting it back in still nothing at all
On the back I can feel the phone is getting warm but nothing on the screen
It was working fine yesterday and I havent done anything to the phone yesterday
Please help if you know anything?
Thanks
Sounds like a hardware fail. I hate to say it but it sounds like returning it is the option.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Did you have any update fails recently? Update fails were the reason some Galaxy S phones would not turn on.
Hi
Thanks for the reply
No.
It has the latest software so there wasn't a need for update
It was working fine for the first hour this morning and then I rebooted my phone because it froze but now won't turn on at all.
Should of backed up my data!
The device gets warm but nothing on the screen tried everything that is available on this forum.
Do I have to pay for this if it's faulty I only had it about a month now I think?
When plugged in on the usb charger, if you toggle the volume rocker will the display turn on and show the battery level?

- There is nothing, no battery indication, everything is black
Any solution yet?
I ordered a JIG, however I don't know if it helps in case the bootloader is dead

First I'll try a JIG - if it arrives on time... (desperately need the phone in 5 days)
fjosef871: have you tried a JIG to get into download mode?

Having a little problem with my galaxy s2

Every once in a while when I turn on the screen the lockscreen is upside down and all the controls are reversed. Usually I need to reboot the phone to get it out of it. Sometimes it will rotate to normal fashion on its own. This only happens when I have auto rotate enabled. I am rooted running Phantom Hackers Blazer rom latest edition(great rom by the way) and I am using magic locker for custom lock screens. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I would think it's rom related, I suggest posting in their specific forum - except you can't until you increase your post count I don't think

Ya your right I cant post there untill I get at least 10 posts here. I honestly think its more of a magic locker problem. I will try just running the stock lock screen and see if it still happens. Thanks for the input though and I will keep you posted as to how it goes.
O ya and also just out of curiosity if you think it is a rom related issue do you know of any other roms out there that are better? I do like this rom but the more I think about it you might be right because when I turn the screen off it flashes my homescreen upside down before it does the crt off animation.

A very new rom -

If it's not THE best - it WILL be, neo's work is infamous!
What you're describing happens to me when I have two things active:
1. Screen rotation animation, and
2. CRT screen animation (on and/or off)
If you have both of these things, check your CRT screen animation. There should be a screen on animation, and a screen off animation. Screen on is the one you need to worry about. If you have this turned on, turn it off. The screen off animation flips and mirrors the image as well, but only during the actual animation that occurs during screen off; the screen is normal when the screen is turned back on. (provided the screen ON animation isn't active)
EDIT: Hmm, JJEgan raises a good point. The only device I see the "Phantom Hackers Blazer" ROM for, is the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, in THAT forum. You DO realize that the Epic 4G Touch (model SPH-D710) and the international Galaxy SII (model GT-I9100) are actually different phones, right? This post is currently in the forum for GT-I9100.

WOW Holy **** you are right LOL I cant believe I did that. I am running the galaxy s2 I9100. THANK YOU for pointing that out! I better switch roms quickly! By doing what I did with the wrong rom was there a chance I could have bricked my phone?

If you bricked your phone, trust me, you'd know. I'm right about what? Did you flash an Epic 4G Touch ROM to your International GSII? If you did, I'm surprised it worked.
I'm guessing JKay is installed on your ROM. Did you check to see if the screen on/off animations are turned on or not? And if so, did you try turning off the screen on animation?
No I know I didnt brick it I was just asking if I could have by installing the wrong rom on here. You were right about the fact that the rom I installed was for the international galaxy and not the one I have. I am surprised it worked too but trust me it was very buggy like the screen problem and it would reboot sometimes and i would get force closes. I am going to flash that rom you recommended. The Illusion. Thank you very much again. you saved me from allot of frustration!
Alright I flashed the illusion rom but now for some reason the phone is acting very funny It is stuck in landscape mode I cant access the desktop it keeps asking me to connect to my google account but for some reason I have no service and it wont connect to my wifi. Is this a final release or is this still in production?
also now my soft keys are all messed up. They dont light up and dont do what they are originally assigned to do. Just to clarify to make sure I am using the right rom I am on a samsung galaxy s2 I9100 sprint version.
I am pretty sure this rom is not for my phone because absoluetly nothing is working. I cannot even connect it to the computer anymore. It doesnt show up.
Ok give me your phone info and how your flashing etc... full wipes?
Sent from my GT-I9100
Its the Samsung galaxy sII epic 4g touch. On the first screen when it goes on it says Samsung galaxy sII I9100 it is the united states sprint version. When I flashed I did a full factory wipe, wiped delvic, then cache partition and then I rebooted. Absoluetly nothing works! It is all messed up On my box it says sphd710kit I dont know what that is thats the only thing it says besides the esn# and the name of the phone.
Now for some reason in clockworkmod I cant acess my sd card it says sd card cannot be mounted this is big trouble I was working allot better with the other rom. Did I destroy my phone? If anyone wants to help me a little quicker and wouldnt mind jumping on aim I would greatly appreciate it. My screename is

are u sure you have an international version? how come "sprint" come into play? if i am not wrong, international version is also call unbranded phone/european version. if i am not wrong, different carrier in USA, come with different "modified" samsung galaxy s2 (eg. T-mobile, At & t, and so on), and they are not I9100 version.
i am not sure about "sprint". someone living in US might have some idea?
btw, does your s2 has any physical button? how many touch sensitive button you have?
it has 4 they go from left to right menu, home, back, and search I know I messed somethin up real good here because now I cant acess my sd card from clockwork to flash a new rom. When I boot the phone up and connect it to the computer it just says device install failed. What can I do to get out of this mess?

Did u wipe in recovery? If so u may have unfortunately hard bricked ur phone, there are issues with the LQ5 kernel. Have a search round to read about it.

I have had a similar problem on a Nokia phone. What I did was switched it off, charged it(from a company charger) , kept it off for some time with battery removed and later turned it on, and presto everything normal.
I don't know what could have caused it or your problem, but if you could give more info like whether you did something like installing an app or something we could recommend things like a factory reset from the recovery menu, or a cache/dalvik wipe and a reboot (which I would recommend to make sure it ain't software related)
Using GT - I9100
I thank those who give helpful comments
I expect the same from others.
idk

Remove the battery and switch it on after a couple of hours, and test whether your battery is working fine with an other phone.
After which if the problem still persist :
Try to turn it on in recovery or download mode.... If it again persist its time to send it for repair. If you can access download mode flash a rom and it might correct the problem.

I had a very similar with my Motorola Gleam which I solved by reinstalling the Motorola drivers, why don't you try that.

[Q] Help! New Galaxy S Advance Bricked After ODIN Upgrade!

Hi People of the world! As you can see im new to here so yeah i just might be in the wrong section...
So, I just got my shiny android a week ago, and know it sits on my desk, lifeless, like a brick. Like literally its dead! I don't know if I can fix it or the BIOS (if theres one in Samsung Galaxies) is fried, or maybe the motherboard is fried, or the battery overcharged, etc. But I just cant do anything! I'm totally out of ideas!
Heres the problem, I first rooted my android successfully, and played around with my android a while. But as you expect I just coudn't wait for the jelly bean update! So, I desided I would give a try to take the Russian firmware instead. That was already a bad idea, but I read on some threads that it would work fine, so I downloaded one from Sammobile.com. The real mistake? I downloaded the wrong phone. I own a Samsung Galaxy S Advance NFC Version;GT-I9070P The one I downloaded was UnNFC version; GT-I9070. Well, I didn't realize that, and proceeded with entering download mode and eventually flashing the PDA file from Sammobile with ODIN. So I pressed start. It started the process, and after 5 min it said in blue: RESET. I saw the phone rebooting. Now, another big mistake: I started touching the power button, which I shouldn't have done. Then, instead of waiting, as soon as seeing the thing wasnt booting, I took out the battery and unplugged the USB cable. Then after a while the PASS appeared in green. So it went successfully? NONONO Now it wont boot! More specifically, it wont TURN ON! like it wont whow any sign of life. As if it had no battery or USB.
Today I discovered, If I hold Vol UP+Power+Home when its connected to my PC, it makes the beep, shows that it failed to install the driver for "U8500 USB ROM" What the (*^&(&%*(&^&* is that??? Also, in 5 seconds, the device disappears, meaning that I must hold the button combo for another 20 seconds.
So, I've got no connectivity to ODIN, nor Kies, and I cant go into download mode, nor recovery mode.
Any Help?
Pleeaase if you can help youre a super god of androids!
ok, so if I understand correctly, You can't even turn on a phone - no samsung logo, no yellow triangle, nothing, right?

Exactly. Nothing at all.
The only evidence that its not fried is that the computer detects it as U8500 USB ROM for 5 seconds whenever i hold the power button or any combination. Nothing on the phone though.

Ikr its really bad to break your phone as soon as i get it. Worse, for me its a few of days to my birthday! Worse thing that could happen. I will PM you if i happen to find a good solution. Also, to make it really the worst thing, the GT-I9070 is one of the less popular phones (not like the s3). The NFC version? Even rarer! So not only are there not many developers working for that phone, not many people have really encountered problems with the phone at all.

Please help! I also bricked my Samsung S Advance I9070P after downgrading from JB to GB, since JB was updated for India I9070...but the phone bricked after downgrade. Everything was successful and it had auto-rebooted after the downgrade and stuck with Start up screen. When I removed battery and tried again..it bricked! No recovery mode, No download mode, no power on.
