Android newb here, just transferred from iPhone. Changing the clock speed was never an option for iOS, so this is semi-new to me dealing with phones. Whats the best SetCPU profiles for a longer battery life without hindering too much speed?
Thanks :good:

Probably this topic already exists but using tapatalk i can't find anything useful when searching as all the roms come up. Some general questions though:
Does this app improve my phone? (2.1)
If so, what are the best settings and why should i use them?
Is overclocking not bad for your phone or was Sony way to careful?
Just curious, so far i just been busy with graphically upgrade my phone, and i really am a noob concerning the technical side of my phone.
Performance preset sounds interesting....
Sent from my x32 using the licking write method....man I am thirsty now!
What is the best settings in set CPU for X10?
There's no best setting cause every phone is different. You should try different settings for yourself since some phones are able to handle higher overclocked speed wheres some phones gets constant reboots and wlod at the same settings. It all boils down to your phones hardware and how much it can take.
Overclocking would improve your phone speedwise if thats what your asking. But battery wise would use up more
Maybe you should try from 245-998 MHZ then keep increasing up till 128-1.1ghz and stop where you feel your phone is still stable.
Hi all, i'm looking for an app that lets me set some default speeds based on CPU's working needs, does something exist?
I remember i had it on my Diamond, i could set the speed with screen off and on, or set it to increase the speed if the CPU has to do lot of work.
I've found LeoCPUSpeed but it seems i have to mode the slider every time i want to change clock...
Just to repeat your request to see that I understand what you want:
You are searching for an app/tool to do something what your HD2 already does by its own?
Yes, but i'd like to tell it when use determined frequencies and which frequencies to use
That's what I was afraid of.
Unfortunately I also know LeoCpuSpeed only for adjusting CPU clock rate.
As you have already determined by yourself you can only switch between fixed CPU clock rate or a dynamic range.
But do you really need something like that?
Isn't your HD2 fast enough?
How about the balance of battery consumption and power/speed?
Have you tested custom ROMs, especially Artemis? That is really fast compared to STOCK ROM.
Yes, it's a lot fast That's the problem, i'd like it to run at a slower clock if not necessary, my aim is to save battery. I don't think a 1Ghz CPU is really needed, my old Elfin has a 200Mhz CPU and for base purposes was just good. I'd like to use a lower clock and let it go to 1Ghz only when needed.
Not sure where, but i've read a few people stating that the usual CPU frequency for the HD2 when it is awake is 768MHz and it only boost to the full 998MHz when it is in need. For windows mobile i don't know how you can determine the range of a dynammic scale (only static as you have been told). However, for android, SetCPU would be what you are looking for. But droid is not what you are looking for (sorry for a pseudo Star Wars reference ).
Yes now I'm on Android and i've got SetCPU, i already knew it on my Hero, but even if on my Diamond i got an application like the one i'm looking for now, it seems that for the Leo, on WM, there's nothing to do
It's is like ei05035 posted, the HD2 doesn't run on full clock rate all the time.
Sir Sternas brought along with Artemis a small tool which shows the CPU usage, see attached pic.
So, I'm not sure whether you can optimize the windows system defaults for cpu usage and battery consumption by setting own values.
Please have also a look on this post, which announces the end of development for LeoCpuSpeed.
I know it can be done because i did so on my Diamond, maybe it's a problem with Snapdragons
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S and there was a great improvement in perfomrance with a filesystem fix as well as access to custom Roms via ROM manager. What benefits will I get with rooting the Streak? Is there any big performance boost I can get out of it?
with mine being rooted used steakdroid and found the could increase cpu speed, battery was lasting longer and not bogged down with dell ui which had various apps running
Just having the device rooted itself is half the fun. Being able to do whatever you want on it with no restrictions!
Personally I don't do anything that really needs a performance boost.I think it's quick enough in my opinion. Will probably be looking into Underclocking to increase battery performance. Would still be interested in your results though if you try.
Hey guys, I recently bought SetCPU and I noticed a nice feature, allowing me to set profiles for different apps, or battery levels.
That is nice and all but I dont know what is the best minimum or maximum CPU level for best battery life.
Im not looking for best performance but I dont want it to lag either.
care to help?
thanks
I find google then search .

I don't have the same phone as you but Intellidemand / Zen (governor / schedular) seem to be a winning combination for performance vs battery life but it will probably vary from ROM to ROM and supposes the kernel you've installed supports it.
Perhaps you could say what you're hoping to achieve? Max battery life (slow the CPU down) vs performance.

Oh, sorry, I'm hoping to max battery life and maybe speed up the phones performance, (if possible) I got the paid app from the market even though we don't have the same phone but if you could share your settings I guess its better than the factory settings
Once again thank you, and sorry I forgot to put what I was hoping to achieve in my original post

You have to choose. Best performance or best battery. If you want the best compromise then like I said, Intellidemand and zen if your kernel supports them.
I'm not sharing settings as we have different phones and different Kernels so it'd be pointless.
I used to have lots of profiles for various times of day, screen on, screen off etc but now I pretty have two. One for general (min and max are whatever the kernel allows) and a profile for low battery where it max's the CPU at 30-50% whatever is max and changes to the conservative governor.

Ok see didn't know that, so I would choose performance over battery life then I am new to this and don't want to brick my phone I bricked a rooted android trying to change a boot animation using root explorer so just trying to be careful, also if you could help me with the "MHz" settings it would be great to the choices are 497, 754 ,988 & 1209 that would be great to
I have all the good root apps titanium backup pro root explorer pro and a lot others, but lol I just don't know how to use them yet...any knowledge on a boot animation logo change would be appreciated to I learned a little after I bricked ny phone I know that I didn't put it in the right folder but every post I read people say it bricked their phone so maybe I should staw away from it until I am a little bit more experienced idk.
But for cpu performance would be what I would choose
Thanks again..
