Lockscreen clock - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to know how to change the size and color of the clock on lockscreen
I already use smali to remove the clock from status bar, so I am familiar with its use, thanks :good:

PLEASE
It is hard to check the time in the middle of the night, it woulf be great to have larger clock on the lockscreen

Because lockscreens always cause problems, I bought Widget Locker to use with SGS1 because the stock lockscreen sucked, but stopped using it because all the problems getting in and out of apps, for instance phone
The lockscreen is perfect otherwise, I only "need" larger clock...

Have u tried mi locker? I personally love it with a lot of customization.. But in a way youre right..S3 stock lockscreen is pretty good.
Maybe someone can teach how to change the font, color, size,or make it transparent like on S2

Decompile framework-res.apk
Then go to \res\drawable-xhdpi
Then modify everything with "keyguard_lockscreen_time" and "keyguard_lockscreen_dual_time" in its name.
recompile.
Just replacing the files without extracting apk should work too.

I replaced numbers 102 x 132 by larger 150 x 200, but the phone loops on the samsung logo, doesnt start...
I did the same for the numbers on status bar (systemUI) and for wallpaper (framework.res) and it worked

Just take pictures you have mofified from recompiled framework (from unsigned framework-res.apk) and place them in the original framework(just by sliding them) it will be ok ;-)
Lot of issue with ics apkmanager and framework. But this way is ok.

I only extracted with 7-zip and replaced the pics, then add back to file, as I do with systemUI battery% and with framework-res wallpaper

I use 7zip to replace the original 102 x 132 .png by my 120 x 180 .png but when I try to reboot it just hangs on SAMSUNG logo

Instructions [Root your phone & install busybox]

Customised TW further with transparent background icons , try this it should work with all froyo roms
For deodexed roms use RootedLP4

gives a bootloop in indroid 4.2
had to adb push touchwiz launcher inorder to boot......
pls take a backup of your files that are about to be overwritten

Should work great on all froyo roms although not tested on all roms

It's nice with those icons, but is there a change you could remove those backgrounds behind the other icons? (the color ones?)

Hmmm.. I made it just from that twlauncher which was in the first post and switched app drawer backtabs to transparent... It took about 5 minutes to copy them from another twlauncher which is fully transparent. Didn't test it so don't know what is the problem.
Edit: Oups, didn't notice that drnishant123 made his own, working version.

System_UI Time Color

I've been playing around modifying the colors of the icons in my ICS System_UI.apk and I've made everything a grey theme only thing I don't know how to change is the color of the clock in the status bar since its not an image how would I go about changing this?

You need to decompile your systemui.apk.after that go to res/values/
edit styles.xml, search for TextAppearance.StatusBar.Clock and change the value of android:textColor to 808080 (which i think is grey, not sure).after making changes, save and compile your systemui.apk and there you go...

Maybe I have missed something here.
Every application I use to decompile an ICS apk file returns errors.
What application are you using to decompile and then recompile the apk files?
Any help would be appreciated.

Which file, plz?
Google is your friend:
http://mobilecon.info/transparant-status-bar-in-android.html
So using this dirty tutorial, make the .png files transparent yourself and place back in the apk then reflash or find the equivalent files in say the Miui framework-res.apk file, extract them, then add them to your stock framework-res.apk file using 7zip/winrar etc and flash/copy back.
Will take you 5 mins and teach you much about theming any aspect of your framework with out having to recompile applications.

Yes, tried it but doesn't work that way on Xperia. Seems that systemui has something to do with it.
Also tried the files from MIUI Rom, didn't work either.
Ah, crap.
I've heard of ways to do it on Gingerbread but not on ICS.
I've noticed using Miui and having a clear status bar but then using another launcher causes the status bar to go black.

It's not just changing some pngs, there is smali edits and some value edits to drawables.xml. I made it for CM9, but I did not manage to edit incoming notification color, so it did not look so nice. (notification_header_bg in drawables.xml. I guess it needs a smali edit, but I did not find it..). And in stock Sony firmware the mod messes up the whole statusbar.
so until now there is no Transparant Status Bar for XS , right ?
i miss my transparant status bar on my ray ... :crying: :crying:

Yes it is, in MIUI Rom. But I totally don't like MIUI.
How does MIUI get clear status bar even when an ICS build? What's so special about MIUI?

hi! sorry I wrote wrongly.. I forgot a word.. I know where apps are.. I meant where default app ICONS are.. sorry for confusion..
I'm asking this because I would like to replace the exDialer icon (green one) with the default JB telephone one (blue receiver).. but I don't know where I can locate the JB telephone app icon..
I think you may have had the right image, but I believe you may have to decompile then recompile the app properly to do change that. Google should produce results for a guide to do this as I have seen one recently

Which one do you want? If I have it I will drop box it for you
To replace images you don't have to decompile just drop them in /res/*whichever folder it goes in* with a store compression value.
Only when you need to edit XML's do you need to decompile and recompile.

It is the blue telephone app icon you can see in the attachment..
I have it somewhere in the system I'm sure otherwise the app couldn't show it but don't know where i could look..
you forgot the attachment
Sorry.. second from the left, third row.. it is the regular jb telephone app icon.. I don't like all the other telephone icons I have..
just trying to upload it now
here
and here
http://db.tt/pn8ftakw
mate.. you are epic!!
that's wonderful.. at last.. thanks so much! :good::good::highfive::victory:
You dont need to decompile to change .pngs...just open the .apk with winrar and go to res/drawable-xhdpi and replace what you want to
the other drawable folders arent used in the S3 - they are overwritten by the xhdpi folder
Edit, couldnt type it fast enough...!!
And that should be dropped in appname.apk/res/mipmap-xhdpi or hdpi or mdpi whichever one is for your dpi.

Nice Nice. Waiting for a download link. Nguyenxuanhoa is one of the best MOD ever, occasionally he is a lazy man.
was wallpaper scrolling enabled here? anyways, thanks for your great work sir, keep it up
Good luck with the ROM mate. 2 things. You have said 2.4 Camera when I think it is 4.2 camera. And secondly
ATTENTION TO ALL USING MULTI SCREEN WINDOW
Do you love multi screen windows but hate that stupid tab on the left hand side of your homescreen? Well, I just worked out a very fast and simple way to disable and enable this multi screen tab without having to disable the mod at all and without having to go in to any menus or settings to do it.
How? Make sure you already have the multi window box ticked in Settings>Display! Now "While on your homescreen" hold the capacitive back button down and then tap the capacitive menu button without releasing the back button. This will make the tab disappear (Not disable the feature). Repeat these steps to bring back the main multi screen bar, click on the home screen to minimise the multi screen bar back to a "tab"
EDIT* Looks like this works by simply hold the back button rather than tapping menu button too.
Developers might want to add this to their OP or FAQ!
I hope this helps somebody as picky as me
*If this fails to work for you, my setup below*
Nova Launcher
Omega 16.1
Green Circle Battery which can be found here

Hi,
You can do a little thing...using root explorer copy SystemUI from preload/symlink to yur PC.
Then with winrar or 7zip (i use winrar) extract drawable-hdpi from SystemUI, and search for the 2 icons that you see on statusbar.
Then using Gimp or photoshop, just erase the icon, (not the transparency) and set his size to 1 pixel.
You'll have a transparent icon with 1 pixel size. Copy it back to drawable-hdpi and rebuild using winrar or 7zip, and copy to your phone.
With root-explorer copy again to preload/symlink, and give appropriate permissions.
Reboot, and your icons will be gone...
Don't remove them from SystemUI...you'll lose systemUI...
