Is there a program I could use to avoid the OTA Update that is being pushed out today? I suppose I could postpone indefinitely. But I am looking for a more elegant solution. Thanks!

if you are rooted use titanium backup to freeze the updater app or use root explorer and remain the.apk to .bak
Thanks!

Thanks Monky and tylerkd07. Titanium backup was the easiest way lol. Had it all this time and did not notice I can do that. Thanks again.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to disable the system update.I have rooted and the notification for the system update pops up constantly.

Have you tried going through, accepting the terms and whatever and then chose not to update? That's how I did and it stopped. At least until a new update was available.
Mine just has a restart and install that's it.

Use the app Titanium Backup Pro to freeze system update.
I downloaded the update but haven't installed it since I don't want my bootloader locked permanently, and now I'm getting a notification every 2 hours to install the update. Is there any way to stop these 2 hour reminders? Its so annoying! Thanks in advance.

open titanium backup or any other root explorer. Go into apps and find updater 2.3.4 and freeze it

If its not letting you install them again you may have to sbf to get them back. Also, I'm curious as to why you are posting in the dx2 section if you have an xpert.
There is no xpert section

Why would you have to sbf it?

to fix the phone
the xpert is more like the pro

not that I've seen
how did you backup, titanium?
did you try, restore without data?
on sdcard/titanium
should be a apk.gz file for missing app
unzip gz move apk to system apks
fix permissions, reboot to recovery, wipe cache, reboot
might work may not
you should always make a nandroid right after rooting, if you did use that

Ok im running stk-rooted. What do I have to do to disable OTA updates. What apks do I have to freeze or rename to .bak for not to receive OTA updates.

I will try and help, I am only looking to buy an S4 but have a Verizon Xperia Play that bricked due to OTA while bootloader unlocked. It's fixed now but I ended up removing MOBILE CARE. Try and look for that and just delete Mobile Care. If it's not there sorry but I tried...
Yeah.. mobilecare easnt there...thanks though

If you have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 you can delete these two files ‘fota.client.apk’ and ‘fwupgrade.apk’ with root explorer in system/apps. While I don't recommend deleting applications it's better to freeze them with Titanium Backup. If you have installed an stock rooted odexed version, you can also include these two files ‘fotaclient.odex’ and ‘fwupgrade.odex’
Thanks...I dont want to delete. I have rom tool box so I can just freeze them.
