email wi-fi pop-up - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

whenever I open my email, I get this pop-up... any suggestions on how to get rid of it permanently? I don't know if this is a Verizon thing or a Samsung thing, but somebody sure wants us to use Wi-Fi...

Securing the XDA for usage

Hi all,
I'm new to XDA's, I just received my Siemens SX56 via Ebay (Rogers AT&T doesn't sell them anymore in Ontario Canada?!?!) and am looking to secure use on it.
Basically, I don't want anyone to receive calls or SMS messages on the device except for myself. I am wondering if there's an easy way to secure it while it's on, so that someone should need to enter a key/button sequence or password in order to answer a call or access the desktop.
Any thoughts? I tried to search a bit in here for similar entries but came up with nothing.
if you set the password then they cant access the device and read sms
still think you can answer a call though
prob because it would result in alot of missed calls if people had to typs in their password after getting the device up from their deepest pocket

I'm now finding that I get an air balloon type popup even through the password screen showing my text message (SMS) that's come in. Anyone know how to mod the settings or the device so that this doesn't happen? I get a lot of sensitive type sms text messages that I can't afford to have seen by unauthorized people...
Any help is appreciated!

sms are sent clear text through the networks so are unsuitable for anything confidential., so a lot of unautorised peeps are alredady seeing your stuff.

better set it up in your notification not to display the message after receiving the sms.

[Q] Help with GO SMS App

I've been using Go Sms on my Tbolt, since the stock sms is a bit annoying. Sometimes when I don't have signal right when I hit send, I get a notification that WILL NOT go away without restarting the phone. It says something similar to 'currently unable to send your message. will attempt to send the message when the service is available' ..it's getting very very annoying. I know it's the app because one day I got fed up and uninstalled it, and the minute I hit uninstall.. it went away. I hate it because sometimes I can't see what's going on because the notification is at the bottom of the screen. I've emailed the developer for the app and no response. I've posted questions on HTC's Facebook page, I've asked the question in Yahoo answers, and I get nothing. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm getting so fed up with it that I just don't even text anyone anymore. I really really hope someone can help me with this.
not trying to be ignorant but why is that an issue? if it is telling you your text is not being sent, wouldn't you want to know that?
There is an option to disable outgoing message notifications. Have you tried unchecking that in the settings?
Not really a solution to your problem but I use handcent and its pretty decent.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Well, the problem is...the notification will never go away, even sometimes after the message sends. I've also went and looked in the application settings to see if there's anything causing it, and there's not. My boyfriend's Incredible doesn't do it and his settings are the same. I've tried Handcent and I don't like it. Oh well. I honestly don't know what it is. We finally complained enough to Verizon about our poor signal at home, so they're sending us a Network Extender and they took $50 off the price. We'll see if that helps.

[Q] Can't Send Email When Connected to WiFi and MessagesCS Error

I have searched the forums and couldn't find an answer to this so please forgive if a repeat. I just started using WiFi on my EVO 3D and I noticed that although I can still download email from my private email addresses I cannot send them. If I switch back to 3g I can send just fine. My Yahoo and Exchange accounts are fine. I tried going through the account set up and it says my outgoing message server isn't responding. Not sure what to try. My husband has the EVO 4G and this isn't a problem for him.
In a separate issue everytime I boot up my phone I get an error saying that MessagesCS is having an issue and allows me to report to HTC and then I have to force close. HTC couldn't tell me how to fix it. Their suggestiong was to reset the device which I will only do as a last ditch effort.
If you know anything on either of these issues, please respond.

First thing which comes to mind, for sending of "private email" makes me think the outgoing mail server might some type of security in place to block it from being a spam relay. Common forms of security for private outgoing email servers are: blocking certain ip addresses including potentially public hotspots, or might require a certain type of authentication, etc.
Without more detail around what type of "private email" you're referring to, it is hard to specifically give advise on what type of approach to take. If the "private email" is through a cable/dsl carrier, they (or a google search) might be able to shed more light on the type of security they have in place on their outgoing mail server.
I know from personal experience, using Gmail thru the Gmail app, incoming and outgoing should work just fine over WiFi, 3G and 4G without having to change any settings in the app.

Could you screenshot this issue? I've never heard of it and I find it interesting it has a report to HTC feature along with a Force Close. Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me HTC wasn't able to give you a reasonable solution.
If you wanted to get more technical, the best troubleshooting information you could provide for this issue would be a copy of your logcat surrounding when the FC occurs.
There are some apps on the android market under a search for "logcat" which can help pull this debug log from the phone. I personally use adb (android debug bridge) which is provided in the android sdk to access the logcat and troubleshoot software issues on the phone.
Hope some of that helps or at least points in a productive direction!

[Q] Connecting to my Google Voice account

I tried to deactivate and re-activate it. I tried signing out then back in. I tried to use a different account. I just can't seem to get my Google Voice to be my voice-mail like I had on my Nexus One (which took about 4 seconds to setup..). So I've searched and found no answers on how to connect it. Any advice guys?
"Failed to retrieve and save current forwarding number settings. Do you want to switch to the new provider anyway?"
I hit "Yes"
"Forwarding number change unsuccessful. Please contact your carrier if this problem persists."
I experienced the same thing when trying to link my gvoice to my Amaze.
I contacted T-Mobile and they explained this was a known issue and they would alert me when it was resolved.... and I have yet to be notified. I assume this is because the case is still open. It was network related from what I gathered.
If you hear anything from Tmo or HTC please update this thread on PM me. This is my only real problem with the Amaze. Oh and otterbox giving us the middle finger... lol

[Q] Trouble Sending Text Messages

So, I have Cyanogenmod installed, and for some reason now I'm having trouble sending text messages. It's like I can send one, then none after that and sometimes if i reboot the phone it'll send another then no more. Is anybody able to tell me if this is something to do with the software on my phone or something on Verizon's side?

Did you check the APN settings for your text messaging app?
I had this issue once but a battery pull seemed to fix it.
Try this and see if it works.
