Hey folks...finally sunny day here in Tn I have noticed something odd with my home screen...in the sunlight I can almost not see it ...I have tried auto brightness different angles nothing helps. I did not have any sunglasses on.
Also when I pull up the browser the brightness drops also...
Thank you
Browser has its own brightness settings, so you can disable those under browser settings and it will match global settings. Otherwise I haven't had any issues viewing screen in sunlight, it's a lot better than my old og evo.

Hey,
Do you use Auto brightness or no?
If not, why?
I use auto as it doesn't affect my battery much needed screen look nicer when it's brighter. But there r pple tat use lowest brightness settings for battery savings reason

Yes, yes I do.

I don't. It drain's my battery more than manual settings. Slide your finger over notification area to adjust brightness manually.
I'm on MIUI so I can change from the notification bar. It depends, if I'm charging I'll have full brightness to show off the sexy SAmoled+ display. But if I'm out and trying to conserve battery I'll have it on auto.

Off.
Use quick settings via notification, hate brightness changing all time so its all way down except when need to up brightness manually.

Off. Main reason is to conserve battery. Most of the time super amoled plus display is bright enough even when close to lowest brightness. Like the others said there's a shortcut to manually increase the brightness through sliding the notification bar when needed say for example outdoors.
i never use the auto feature
Always auto.
I just can't unblock my handset when I'm out (thanks to australian sun) - I see nothing on the screen.
Unless there's a way to manually update brightness when lock screen's on ?
Off and almost always at maximum brightness. When using it in the dark (when I should be sleeping) I lower the brightness via the notification bar shortcut (that also works when the screen is locked using WidgetLocker).
No. Manual adjust is easy and more satisfying.
no!not working good....
inviato da sgs2
I do. Tried both and found that it's just as annoying having to adjust manually as it is when auto is slow

Never..... it ( almost) allways in max. It's a shame to use that beautiful screen on dull settings.

Im using auto.....because home is not like outdoor.....if i make it at the lowest i wont see any thing in the outdoor.......i have it on because it stimulate the sun and the low light condition.....plus .. i dont care about the battery...i bought the phone to use it and enjoy it not to sit and watch the battery all day long and keeping myself from enjoying this coool phone...........
I use Auto; I might try manual and adjusting it now and then but at the moment I'm content with auto.
I kept it off cause you can easily changed the brightness just by sliding the notification bar
No , I use manual so I can adjust it to the way I like it.
Always off, adjust the brightness level where you suit.
Auto mode may drains battery life.
I do use auto bright
It's good to enhance your view on the mobile at any light conditions
And IT DOES NOT drain your battery . it's,false thoughts guys belive me

What do you set your brightness to on your Samsung s3?
Minutes on automatic but I'm thinking of changing it and I want some opinions on what people use!

I also set mine on automatic, because you need a different brightness setting depending on the outside brightness where you are.
For example you would need a completely different setting when you are using your phone outdoors on a sunny day, or indoors in the evening with artificial lighting.
Hope that helps.
Full brightness for me and i adjust accordingly

0 brightness at indoor and auto brightness at outdoor
The Lux app is working very well for me. Auto-brightness works as it should have out of the box now.
I just set the brightness to 50%. Manually.
I use the display brightness app from the play store. Adds a brightness slider to screen. Much better than auto IMHO. Auto was giving me dark screens too often.
Try this :

The best ever brighter controller for Android devices!!

I just realized something weird. I used my phone in a completely dark room and I was blinded by the bright screen on auto-brightness. I couldn't imagine that it was on the lowest setting in a dark room and switched auto-brightness off; and indeed with manual brightness I could bring the slider much more down to darker levels. Is that normal that auto-brightness doesn't go down to the lowest brightness levels?
I also don't like the auto brightness issue, it was too bright in a dark room.
I end up buying Lux from the play store and it address my problem.

I am no fan of auto brightness inside of buidings either.
Outside it is handy, but indoors I switch to a widgetsoid app toggle on my homescreen with 5%/25%/100%/auto steps
25% is more than enough indoors, with 5% in dark rooms.
But with the advance of custom ROMs the auto brightness settings will be adjusted to more suitable values, I believe.
I just do not understand the implementation of Auto Brightness in G2.
If I go out, it never increases the brighness even by one bit. I have to swipe it up.
Same when I go inside.
Whats the point of Having auto brightness if it does not work.
Try lux dash app my friend.
Much better
I typically will point the front camera towards the sun when I go outside to get it to adjust. Usually works pretty quickly, but sometimes it fails.

The solution is use lux autobrightness
+1 for Lux autobrightness

The way the auto brightness works in LG is different from what we see on other devices. If you flashing a custom AOSP based rom you will see auto brightness working fine as we are accustomed.
Agree, stock doesn't work at all

Thanks for the lux tip. It appears to be working well.

It works actually..Just that it's somehow retarded..And so i have switch over to fixed brightness instead..
Another option, although not automatic, is to swipe down and use the brightness toggle. Each time you press the button it will scroll through from 50%, 90%, 0%, 50%, 90%, 0%, etc.
I usually use my phone at 50% but if I'm in direct sunlight or want to show off my G2 screen I will then hit the brightness button to make it 90%. No idea why it doesn't automatically default to 100%, though.

I can not say I have noticed autobrightness glitches (European D802, stock rom).
I think LG2's autobrightness system is great. You can use the slider in pulldown menu to adjust your base brightness preference and it is auto according to that.
Far better than other phones with "fixed auto", i.e. my previous OneX+, where the screen is too bright in low-light conditions.
Yes LUX works...but so does the stock auto brightness setting. So if you want to use the stock version here is what you need to remember. The slider is the BASE level...which means that if you set it to 50% then that is the LOWEST the screen brightness will go when in a dark room. You can set it lower but in my testing I feel that anything lower than 40% does not lower it any more than that... YMMV.
Then, after setting your low end base, the screen will automatically get brighter when you go out into the sun. Now whether it will ever go to 100% on its own or not I do not know. But I find that with my VZ variant set to 50% base, when I go out into the brightest sun the screen brightens up to the point where I can see it just fine. One other observation is that the stock version is a little slower at making the adjustment than LUX is, but only by a few seconds from start to finish.

That might be, but the difference from full sunlight to complete darkness is almost nothing, no matter what base % you set it to. The auto brightness is just utterly completly useless. Giving Lux a try.
I found yet another brightness app works great.

I leave mine on 40% with auto ticked and it works fine

I personally leave mine at 50% constant but for those who want auto brightness try this app:

Stock autobrightness works, but it's slow and sometimes it won't change screen brightness for reasons unknown.
Lux is much better. I'm not sure about free version, but with full version you can customize brightness curve and lower reaction times so it's really quick compared to stock autobrightness.
+1 for lux with autobrightness on wake

I noticed this when using my camera last night. I had been web browsing in a dimly lit room and my screen was on auto brightness so it was dim too. When I opened the camera app the UI was super bright, ridiculously so. Is this normal for the UI to be on max brightness and to ignore the auto brightness feature?
Same problem here, what can I do???
