Hey everyone. I updated to ICS yesterday and have been experiencing text messaging issues. I can no longer scroll up through my text messages to read previous ones. It only lets me go up like two, then it stops. The texting overall is extremely laggy. Can anyone help? I am using the official ROM. Thanks!

Here's a long shot, but, have you tried clearing cache and data for the messaging app?
Yep. Even clearing data as well as deleting my entire text message conversation. (although it didn't even delete them, the screen just turned black and I had to do a live battery pull) It still won't let me scroll up.

I notice your signature is that of the sky rocket. Just to be sure you're in the right forum, you are having issues with the I777, right? Also the other thread you created in the sky rocket forum about you're ics issues leads me to believe you are indeed in the wrong forum.

I'm using the standard Facebook app and so far its great. The new update makes it better but there is still an annoying issue that hasn't changed. When I go in to check my notifications I select one and it takes me to the mobile version instead of staying in the app. I've looked through the Derrick gs and haven't been able to find a way to change that. I emailed the devs but haven't heard back yet. Is there a way to change it so it doesn't open notifications in the browser?

i think that is what it is meant to do unfortunately
I sent a couple of article emails from Skygrid a while back and now I am constantly reminded that those emails failed to send. The notifications appear in the status bar but if I pull the notification window down, they are not listed.
I can not find a way to kill or erase these messages.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Irrelevant, but I opened expecting a link to zombie notifications...
But now that I'm here, the very first thing I do when I have an app thats acting up is to go setting>applications> find the app and clear it's data out. This solves most issues, if this doesnt work then uninstall/reinstall.
I tried that without success but upgrading to the latest saurom rom cleared them out.

anyone know why certain threads in stock SMS have the contacts name appear in blue rather than white? cant figure it out for the life of me.
also does everyone else sms start at the bottom (earliest) thread rather than the top. i have to scroll up every time i open the app.
Been wondering the same **** lol
I've noticed the same. Except which ones are blue seems to be totally random.
I figured it was a small unfortunate glitch.
maybe facebook contacts? i dont have this problem nor a facebook so, maybe thats why?

No it doesn't seem to be Facebook either. I have non Facebook and Facebook contacts in blue

Starred in Android? Favorites? Phone contacts?
its totally random and now that i think about it, i haven't seen a blue thread in days. I wonder if its coverage related?
Did anyone flash Mad Industries ICS Blue toggles from the VZW dev section? I thought thats what did it because I noticed this after I flashed that Mod. On my phone the 2nd, 3rd and 4th threads in my Messaging app have it but all others are regular. Then if I delete a thread and a different one moves into one of those positions that name becomes blue. I dont really mind it and if it is that Mod that did it I dont care even less cuz that ICS Blue toggle mod is the shiz!
The blue threads aren't the ones where the last text in the thread is yours?

It's texts you haven't responded to, or have a draft outstanding. Take a blue one and start a response, it goes to white. Delete your text good back to blue

yeah its definitely not the last one you responded to. that doesnt seem to make a difference for me. i did notice that over usage time everyone of my threads turned blue even days old messages with no activity that were previously white. then upon restart of the phone its back to a mix.
Hi all.
Have rooted my s3 with the omega rom and using go launcher. Wanted to know, after having searched xda as well as Google, how to either - disable the deliver report sound OR disable the deliver report screen wake up. Its annoying when constantly texting a conversation to have to discard the notification of every sms received.
I like the implementation of the stock ics delivery report (just adds a tick mark to the sms) but the stock ics messaging app doesn't search threads by person. Only searches the messages. (So if there's a mod for that to enable search threads by person name as well then perfect, will ditch Samsung mms/sms app in a heartbeat).
Thanks
Kunal.

Try other sms apps in play store.

True but other apps don't replace the Samsung stock app. They just overlay it thus wasting precious resources. (As I understand it, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Give it a try. Android quite good in handling resources. If it really cripple your phone, then just uninstalled it and find other solutions.

Have already tried Go sms or whatever the name is. Best sms I've found is the stock ics app but as stated in my 1st post, it for some reason doesn't search by threads only by messages. so if I have a thread with you, a search by your name won't yeild the thread as a result. only such messages where your name is mentioned will be shown. If there's a mod for that then that's perfect. Much better, lighter and faster app than the stock Samsung app.

Any senior member knows a hack for this? Come on I'm surprised the delivery report tone and wake screen hasn't irritated anyone else?

It has iiritated me too
I, on the other hand, prefer to use any other SMS than the stock one, but any other program will not disable the Delivery Reports.
It is very annoying that everytime you send out a message you get a "message delivered" reply, that I have to keep erasing every once in a while.
I have posted several times, in several forums, looking for an answer to this but apparently everybody enjoys knowing their messages reached their destination, as nobody seems to care.

To disable Delivery Notifications open Messages app --> Settings --> SMS Settings ---> Uncheck delivery notifications...
That disables delivery notifications. I like to know that the message is delivered. I just don't like that it sounds out like a normal sms and wakes up my screen. Just a tick on the sent message or a silent delivery report without the screen wake up is perfect. (Like in the stock ics mms app. However in the stock ics mms app one can't search for threads only for messages, while in the Samsung mms app thats possible).

This post is very old but if anyone had the same problem, just use the app "Messaging Notification". It solves the problem.
Thanks! This app is great! To recive proper funcionality I set "Silent" a ringtone in SMS app (to keep showing the SMS in notification bar) and everything else (the ringtones) I set in this app.
Hi guys,
I've been meaning to post this for a while, but with the new Gmail app, I don't have the options in the notification bar like you are supposed to get (delete, reply, etc.). I am currently running Viper Rom, if that makes a difference. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?
Seems to only work when i have one new email. Two or more emails and I have to go to the main app to delete /archive etc.

I noticed that as well. If two or more emails that option does not show.

That is really weird. When I first downloaded the new update, it wouldn't work even with 1 email. I reinstalled the Gmail app, and it now seems to work with only 1 email, which makes sense because it could get a bit crowded with multiple emails.
I have the same problem as well. I have removed the app and reinstalled several time but still don't see the options. Quite odd.
