Lumia 710: Question update/USB/demo - Nokia Lumia 800

Hello all,
Lumia 710, Firmware - 1600.3007.7740.11465
Dev Info: RM809, PC: 059L3R1
EDIT: So first question I guess is if any of the above can be an issue?
So I got my hands on this demo unit, I was able to remove the demo firmware and load the full thing. Phone works well, though I have no microsim to fully test it out. I wanted to update the 710 but I'm having issues. I check via the Zune software but have several issues:
If 710 wifi is on and internet on comp is working:
1) Connect phone to zune,
2) Sync options load.
3) Manually check for update.
4) Wait about 2 minutes.
5) Phone is up to date, so no available updates.
This seems wrong as most if not all have the Tango update, so I search and find the update trick. I try to follow the guide but it goes as follows:
1) Lumia device has wifi turned off (no cell data as ni micro-sim) OR in airplane mode.
2) Load Zune software.
3) Connect device.
4) Receive error about "Can not make a connection from your phone to the internet". I initially assumed this was expected and just clicked ok.
5) Manually try for update in the settings
6) Wait 2 minutes.
7) Get another error; "Can not connect to update service at this time".
EDIT: As a note, the update check lasts about 2 minutes either way, and if I even leave the net connected, when I plug the device in in airplane mode it will still say it can't connect to the update service, thats why I'm asking about the initial error of "can't create an internet connection to your phone"...
I then searched for solutions to THAT error, and have since, enabled mobile services, removed and refreshed cirtificates, and restarted an event service. Then re-installed the Zune software, all to no avail. That is, on reconnection, I still get that Connection Error.
So main points have been made, next thing to note is I am not using the original USB as I don't have one. I have tried however several others. Standard USB, HTC (older), other data-capable USB. All same result. Is this possibly the only reason, or is it something from above?
Are there files or more information I can post to get some more help? I would really like to get this working. So any and all useful advice is welcome.
Also, didn't see a 710 specific forum, and many posts on it here, so I posted this question here. If it's the wrong place, mods please move or let me know.

Start Zune
Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
Start the update search in Zune
About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
Zune finds Mango-Update. Press OK.
Connect to the internet again and install the update.
There you have it, this quick and easy trick will work if (and only if ) your carrier has already began rolling out the update.

Ahoy, Thanks for the quick reply. However, this is not my major question, I've found the trick several times. What I want to know is if that weird error message I get has anything to do with the process. No matter what I always get the error, and subsequently I get the "cannot connect to update service" error. All is as I said in my first post....
The device has 809 written behind the battery. But I will try to load 803 firmware if that may be the issue, thoughts?
Edit: So I'm thinking the problem is with the Zune software. Despite a complete removal and reinstall I still get that connection error message. It seems if the device has no data connection, Zune wont connect (or can't) to the net to check for any kind of updat. The subsequent "we can't connect to the server" error message is consistant and happens with another wp I try while it's also has its data connections off. This is what I wanted to ask if its common, or if there is something seriously wrong with my install. It won't find updates at all if the phone's data connections are off. Any advice on this?

Help Needed ! Stuck while upgrading...HTC P4000

I was upgrading my TELUS HTC P4000 with Hard-SPL-MFG.exe. I connected my phone to my pc via USB and followed instructions. The I executed the file from my pc and was able to get the process going for the upgrade. After a few clicks, the application said the task was "Finished" after 30 sec, even though at the beginning it read that it would take 5 - 10 min. Anyways, I disconnected my USB and rebooted my phone. All I got was the same tri colours and the message :-
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
with RUUNBH at the top-right and Serial 1 at the bottom.
Though there a few solutions which are available on the forums, my challenge is that there is since I am not being able to connect the phone via the USB I cant use those other solutions.
I am running XP SP2, I have rebooted the PC, I have changed various options in MS-ActiveSync, however all to no avail. I have even hard booted the phone, but defaluts back to the message "above" after rebooting.
Does this situation have a solution or is my phone, "bricked" ?
Would appreciate some feedback.
does it still say Serial when you plug in the USB after you have restared your PC? (sorry as the devine n00b its my job to ask the nub questions)
Negative. When I connect it to a USB it actually changes from Serial to USB.
Also, when I open MS-Activesync then File then select Connection Settings and then hit "Connect" (With allow USB connections), the response comes back as having USB is available, however the connection does not allow any data transfer thus I cant initiate some of the other solutions which have been recommended (such as run Titanunlocker.bat etc).
Thanks
Looks like you are ok
Sounds like you should be able to run any DCD ROM/radio or the Sprint ROM because it seems to be doing what we want to see after the unlocker is loaded up good.
Madman, That's very interesting. How would i run DCD ROM/radio or the Sprint ROM on the phone, if I phone is not responding to hot/cold boots, pressing the buttons together (pwr+camera etc) and the USB cable does not allow data transfer b/w the PC and camera ? I am lost.
your phone will accept data.
sometimes it akes a couple tries but it will flash.
just run the ruu and it should connect to the phone.
activesync is not used at this point.
sometimes going into activesync and disableing usb will help the ruu connnnect to the phone.
just flash with ruu containing your upgraded rom. I thought the same thing when i did my P4000. you just hafto run the sprint update next and make sure you DONT tap the screen to calibrate. just hard reset and run DCDs or A1s ROM in RUU
Thanks. That has done the trick. Now I do have a functioning device again with has been flashed, I can't seem to find the location to ensure that the GPS has been is set to “On” instead of Emergency Only. Have not been able to find that menu. Other than that, slowly testing other applications and connecting to MS-Exchange soon....
I dont think the GPS is enabled on the flashed device. Still looking for clues and answers !
If you flashed with dcd's rom then GPS is enabled by default....take a few minutes and search the forums, read the GPS threads and you'll find your answers
Thanks. That did the trick. D/L Google maps, played around for 5 min and got GPS to work ! It rocks. Thanks to all on the forum !

[Q] ActiveSync doesn't work anymore

Sounds like USB port is broken.
Hi all,
I've read a couple of threads for several days now, but none of the answers worked for me.
Problem is: I can connect from my HD2 to my desktop PC (win 7) initially, but when I try to install a new ROM (3.14.407_2), my HD2 restarts, shows the four colour screen and nothing more happens. After some minutes, my PC tells me that my phone isn't connected anymore.
It worked two months ago for the last ROM flash, but now nothing helps.
Tried:
- rebooting PPC and PC several times
- deleting partnership and setting up a new one
- disabling "faster connect" for usb to PC settings - afterwards, PC doesn't recognize any connection at all
- hard reset on PPC
I have no idea what to try next.. I wanted to install HSPL2 and flash the ROM from my SD card, but can't install HSPL2 ... same problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Infyrana
I also tried several USB ports on my PC
You think the HD2 USB port is broken? But I was able to transfer data when connected as normal device without active sync.
Do I have any chance to check, whether you are right, without having to send my phone to HTC?
maybe running the update in compatibility mode will help?
I thought the microsoft mobile device center (or however it is called) was made for win7, as the actual activeSync tool cannot be used?
So I can't see a benefit from this, but anyway.. I will try.
You could try using BlueTooth with ActiveSync, thats what I do. I have a "micro" bluetooth adaptor for my laptop and it all works fine... just a bit slower.

the compatibility mode for the ROM update file could help becasuse it is a separate application (no guarantee though as I have no way to check it on my PC)
compatibility mode didn't help.
don't have a bluetooth stick ...
no further suggestions?
Just found out, that windows tries to install driver "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" when I connect my HD2 after starting bootloader.
But it just searches and doesn't find anything. I searched by myself, but didn't find the driver anywhere ...
if you are really determined to update ROM, find the thread on ROM 3.14 here on xda forum, I recall seeing guidelines on installing ROM from SD Card
of course it will not solve your sync problem, but still...
Yah ... I wanted to install HSPL2 to be able to do install the ROM from the SD card (at least that's what I understood - that I need that first), but I can't install it, as I already wrote.
I GOT IT!!!
Finally.. in a forum somewhere in a forgotten corner of the internet.. someone gave an advice to uninstall the windows mobile device center and reinstall it.
After uninstalling, I had some trouble to find it again, but finally got it.
And guess what: it works now.
Windows managed to install the quadcomm driver and I could update my ROM.
Never had such a hard challenge with my HD2.
Thanks everyone who tried to help!

[Q] Samsung Charge usb issue, please help!

Posted this on the general discussion section but have had no replies, hopefully someone here can help?
Hi everyone, first, this is my first post, new to the forums, at least as a registered user. I have a problem with my phone. I know most of you are wondering why I have not just read the other posts on the forums, but I have. I have attempted every solution to the problem posted previously.
Background: Phone: Samsung charge.
I was being impatient and did not want to wait for the gingerbread update form Verizon. I flashed the leaked gingerbread 2.3.4 onto my phone using odin. Everything went great. I was able to use my phone with no problems except shortened battery life, but nothing major. About a month ago the battery life was impossible to maintain and there were some software bugs, like clicks during calls, startup taking forever, around 2 minutes on average!, and random restarts that never happened before. I decided to look up some fixes and found that verizon and samsung had released GB 2.3.6 for the charge. I got excited and decided I wanted to get that, but I could not via OTA. I read some forum posts and they mentioned attempting a factory reset on the phone then trying OTA update. I went ahead with factory reset and everything went fine. My startup time is around 25 seconds now and no random clicks or gliches, but still not on 2.3.6, which was the whole point. I then decided to just flash the stock 2.3.6 rom to the phone.
Problem: When I plug my phone in to multiple computers it will charge but not connect to the computer. This means on my Mac it does not show as an external drive, which it has in the past. On my windows 7 machine it says that drivers were installed but could not be used (I can get the exact quote if needed.) I attempted to go into device manager and solve problem that way but it shows my phone as "unknown device". I have tried to enter download mode when hooked up to windows computers and no connection is found.
Possible solutions attempted and their outcomes:
1. As stated, I attempted the method shown in a thread on droid forums for installing the samsung drivers. I have attempted multiple times to install the drivers on my windows machine and the device remains "unknown".
2. I have attempted multiple cables on multiple computers, both mac and windows 7. No change.
3. I have installed adb and attempted to locate devices using adb devices command on mac. No devices found.
4. I have attempted all methods with both usb debugging checked and unchecked.
5. I have tried every possible usb port I have.
Ideas/questions I have had that I have no idea are possible or how to fix!
Would a factory reset take away the ability to connect to a computer from my phone. So, is there a piece of software in the build I have that controls the connection between the computer and the phone, an identifier of sorts, which is now missing, now that I have reset the leaked ROM.
Is there a way to flash a new ROM without connecting to a computer, via the sd card, and what is that? I have read some things in other posts but am too much of a n00b to understand most of them when using sdcards.
ANY help will be greatly appreciated. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! I have been at this for at least 6 hours, sifting through forums, searching google, attempting fixes that others have stated worked for them, only to fail every time. Thank you all.
have you try on a different pc?
maybe on your PC there is some problem with the drivers.
Moreover to connect via
adb u must enable Debug mode on your device in the application menu.
To flash kernel or other directly from your sd you can use the clockwordmode, but to install it you must before
install it and i fear you must use your cable connection
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I have tried multiple PCs and a mac, even windows on bootcamp. I have installed drivers on every one, even uninstalled and reinstalled on one. One PC, my laptop was a fresh windows install (it was a linux box but I needed windows to use Odin). I was in debug mode and not in debug mode when attempting adb. Thanks for the suggestions though. As I said, I have tried numerous things and am completely stuck! so frustrating!
"I attempted to go into device manager and solve problem that way but it shows my phone as "unknown device"
Exactly there... you can try to force device to install a different driver.
Double click the unknown device then driver then update driver then find software in your computer then choose manually from a list of device drivers in your computer then show all devices you should see "android adb interface" or something related to google or android.
Try it... i hope this can help you.

NSS can't find my Lumia 800

Hi guys!
Like my brother said: if they don't know it at XDA, there is simply not a solution yet. And having tried a lot of options myself, your expertise is wanted!
How it all began:
I wanted to update my Lumia, so used CAB sender. Fine so far, but there was a bug (no keyboard) so I wanted to repair with Zune. Didn't work, it said it was impossible to repair to the previous version (code 80180083). And since it didn't started up now anymore, it bricked.
Looking for a solution, my laptop OS (Windows Vista 32-bit) didn't recognized my phone anymore as Nokia Lumia 800, but simply as 800. And now, it only recognises my phone as Unkown Device (Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM). And Windows does not detects a proper driver for this thing. Tried Nokia USB Connectivity, WindowsUSB and the drivers belonging to Nokia Care Suite but nothing gets it done.
View attachment 1231319
I thought I found the solution with NSS, but I dont get the option below which says Nokia Connection Cable, because yet again: no phone can be found!
View attachment 1231326
Or course I tried also with Nokia Care Suite, but yet again: the laptop can't recognise the brick! Although Windows does notices I put something in the USB port and it sees the Qualcomm device.
Hard reset
Not possible, since I will get a 3 second vibration followed by 3 seconds nothing and then half-a-second vibration.
Putting phone on
If I try, it will give the 3 second start-up vibration which connects to Windows Vista (using the typical sound) shortly followed by the half-a-second vibration (and a triple-short disconnect sound on Windows).
As you guys can understand, I am in quite a bad situation now. Since the phone is bought in my home country The Netherlands and I currently live in Melbourne Australia, I hope to prevent sending it back home at any costs.
So what do you think: is this one permanently bricked, or is it still possible with a specific driver to fix this? Seems to me it's purely a communication/connection problem between my laptop and my phone, but I run out of options to try..
You could try downloading Windows Phone Support Tool from Microsoft.
Turn on your phone by pressing on and the Camera button at the same time, it should then enter flash mode (release power on buzz but keep holding the camera button). When it's in flash mode you can try and get Windows Phone Support Tool to repair the phone for you.
Thank you for your reply!
I tried it before, and this is the message I got:
Communicating with device. Please wait for Recover button to be enabled.
Support Tool version 4.8.2345.0
The tool had difficulty communicating with your device. Please check your device connection and make sure you followed the instructions above. Try recovery again and if the problem persists please contact technical support.

The problem seems to be that there is absolutely nothing is installed on my phone. Therefore, the connection with my phone fails over-and-over. Doesn't matters which program I use. I am almost sure that there is a connection fail between the computer and my phone. I tried it at some other laptops but at every laptop it says 'Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MDM'. But not a single program (NSS/NCS/Phoenix/Windows Phone Support Tool) can make an actual connection with the phone, so it must be driver related.
When I try to turn it on, it starts up but then puts itself off, like if its out of energy. It doesn't charges though. What do you think: driver related or battery related?
------------------
Extra added info: when I try to flash Rainbow os-new with NSS, I get this message:
Checking file selection...Done.
Looking for NAND disk...Not found.
Are you sure you have development Qcom loader ?
Click to collapse
What does that means?
Some more info about using NSS in an attempt to try flashing my phone

Things to check:
1. Is the phone connected?(Plug to the USB)
2. Is it in the correct mode?(Try to switch to OSBL mode)
3. Have you installed the Qcom loader ?(Use the Install button)

(Command: Flashing > WP7 Tools > Install)

Does this shows a battery problem? I have had battery problems before with my phone, but I guess that when I try to flash (even with the extra add to NSS) it should ignore any battery level. Or should I screw it open, try it again and see if it will work then?
If it's finding it as an 800 that means it's finding it (it finds mine as an 800 when I've played with it too much).
When you enter flashing mode via camera button, do you not get the image of the phone connected to a PC on the phone?
I had that in the beginning, but those days are long gone.. I don't know how it happened that I don't get that back anymore. Perhaps because my phone doesn't boots itself completely, but falls out of its boot program. Nothing visible on screen

How to Shut Off: Usb connection "allow this computer to access your phone data?" CANCEL/ALLOW

Good Morning Ladies and Gents;
I am working with an LG G4 H811 (T-Mobile) on 20v (MM 6.0), which I would like to root. I have unlocked the bootloader, which is confirmed every time I start the phone. I then tried to root using LGUP, but the phone wasn't recognized, so I did an error recovery reinstall in LG Bridge, thinking a fresh software install would re-align things.
Now, whenever I connect the phone to the computer, I get a pop-up window on the phone saying "USB Connection - Allow this computer to access your phone data?" CANCEL/ALLOW and the phone does not show up on the PC screen or in Device Drivers until I tap "ALLOW". Therefore, it is not recognized by any software without tapping ALLOW.
More than an inconvenience, this effectively prevents me from any mods on the phone, because I need to shut off the phone and disconnect from the USB port, then reconnect with Volume UP pressed to get to download, and in download mode I have no access to ALLOW the USB connection, so neither ADB nor FastBoot recognize any devices, and the phone is not included in Device Manager.
Of course, the bootloader is unlocked, Developer Options enabled, OEM Unlock on, USB Debugging on. I am using an original LG USB cable. I have tried 4 different computers and three different sets of drivers. I've tried older drivers on older and newer computers, and vice-versa, for every combination available. Each time, I plug in the phone after a fresh computer install and let it install it's own drivers. Two of the computers are Windows 7, two are Windows 10. I've tried connecting in MTP mode and PTP mode, with no difference. I've removed the SD card in case it was affecting things, and done a factory reset on the phone. Auto Play options have been set on the PC to "Do Nothing". I've searched the internet and this forum without results.
Basically, I've spent two days on this before asking for help. Has anyone else had this experience and solved it with something other than drivers? I think I've just about run out of ideas! Thanks.
I don't root however it's probably Developer options>usb default settings>usb tethering
Try connecting directly from Disk Management on the PC. Use the scan for new drives option if it's not visible.
Thanks buddy, appreciate you trying to help out.
Tethering is a way to allow a device connected to your phone to use the phone's data connections. In the tethering instructions:
"You may not be able to access the data files stored in the phone's memory, such as pictures, music etc, or transfer such files between your phone and your PC when USB tethering is on"
However, its worth a try - so I set up tethering, unplugged the phone and plugged it in again - the same Cancel/Allow screen came up, and no device in DM until I tapped Allow.
I then opened Disk Management and plugged in the phone. I still get the Cancel/Allow screen, and rescanning devices didn't show anything new, because the phone is not in the Device Manager until I tap Allow.
The key here is finding out why the phone or computer do not store the "Allow" command. Normally, the phone will show this screen the first time you plug it into a computer, and when you tap Allow, it will store that someplace such that the phone and computer are recognized as safe devices. You should never have to see the permission screen again. My challenge is that I don't know where that permission is stored - is it on the phone, the computer, attached to the driver? Don't know. And I don't know why it's not being saved. If I had those answers, I could probably edit the registry (or whatever) to make this a permanent attachment.
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Maybe debug mode?
Try turning off Developer options.
Obviously there is a way, sorry but I never had to use that function.
Try some Google searches which is how I usually find answers and/or by just playing with it
Well, I wouldn't be able to communicate via ADB with Developer Options off. And I spent two days searching the internet before coming here, and all I found was people updating their drivers, which is why I tried so many combinations of Windows versions and drivers versions.
I'm actually kind of surprised that this seems to be such a unique problem, I was hoping someone would notice the post who had actually had a similar problem and fixed it. But I do appreciate you trying to help!
Sorry I can't help, but I never choose to root.
It's time sucking black holes like this that I deliberately want to avoid.
At least you didn't brick it...
ha ha... you got that exactly right! Every time I do this I end up spending DAYS trying to get up to date on everything that has changed since my last phone!
Well, I appreciate you taking time to try to help.
