Get camera Extras and more no matter where you are located - Nokia Lumia 800

Before you start "I am not responsible for any kind of damage you do to your device please proceed if you know what you are doing"
Note: You will loose all data on your phone including - images, contacts, emails etc. everything.
No matter where you are which country you live you can get the camera Extras and other superb Apps.
Here it is how to go about it:
1. Connect your lumia to PC and sync with ZUNE, this will sync your snaps with Zune so now you have atleast the snaps backedup.
Sorry about Music it wont be synced or else i dont do it or i dont know if ZUNE also backsup the music on your device.
2. Go to www.hotmail.com and create a new Windows Live id with the credentials of a US resident.
3. You will have to HARDRESETyour device.
Note: this will bring your phone to the Factory Reset State.
4. Now switch on your device and follow the steps but this time while configuring the device use the new US Windows Live id.
5. Complete the setup and then go to market and check in Nokia Apps you should get "Camera Extras" & loads of interesting Stuff for sure.
I am in INDIA and this worked for me and i am sure it should work for you all as well.
All the best

ok mate just removed the crap which was written before now have put something interesting and useful..

This is no secret. If you use an US email, the phone thinks you are in US, BUT you can't buy apps anymore if you are not from the US.

Sure, I'll go and limit myself to US release Apps only just to get the Camera Apps a few days sooner. This is just silly.

Thanx, nice share...
But would wait for few more days to get it officially released, just a bit lazy installing all the apps again, after the hard reset..

To Hard Reset simply go to Settings>>about>>scroll down and Click on "Reset Your Phone"

This really isn't a useful suggestion, or anything that isn't already known.

Where do those ads come from ?

Apparently I installed something for free without thinking ... NOTHING IS FREE and now I am getting little banners here and there .. I was going to reset my Streak to BRAND NEW and start all over but I am afraid I won't be able to find my way back to installing "swype."
Is there a way to find out which app is putting the banners on my streak ?
What ever the ad is, it started T-Mobile billing me a $10 per month membership to something .. I don't know what, but they canceled it for me ..
I was thinking .. . A good thread or sub-category to add would be applications that attack your android.

root your phone and install adfree from the market. problem solved.
just wipe the phone, its quicker than fannying about trying to find out what happen. never install programs that look iffy. basically this comes from experience. troll the market and get to know the market trends. but really if you want to install free apps and believe me there are some fantastic free apps, just root your device and install the adfree program and you will never see them again

If starting from scratch is what I have to do to get rid of these annoyances, then I may as well root it first. BUT ...
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha ... I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO DO THAT!! Even thinking about doing it scares me. I am such a coward. I visualize myself holding the "brick" and saying out loud to nobody .. "NOW WHAT?"
I remember opening FULL windows mobile on my first HTC Shift. I printed out the instructions and highlighted each step as I completed it. You would think I was doing brain surgery.

http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-4399-how-to-root-your-dell-streak-superboot/
Read how to do it first but basically download the super boot,,,Put your device in boot loader mode,,Unplug the device from your PC,,, remove the device battery,,, then replace it and turn device on with the camera button pressed. Select the 'fast boot' text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds then plug the device into your PC. The screen display should change to 'FAST BOOT MODE'. If it doesn't, repeat and retry,,,if you are using WINDOWS - double click 'install-super boot-windows.bat'
Wait for it to Finnish and viola
A couple of programs you will need as well are Root Explorer and a good file explorer i use ES File Explorer both can be found in market place free
Hope that has helped you any probs shout some one will come running and good luck
agreed. very easy to root. one of the easiest devices infact. ive rooted G1/desire/nexus one/G2/droid/x10 and the streak was the easiest of them all. it is pretty much:

Well .. maybe I will give it a try tonight or later. Android is so new to me I don't even know how to sync anything .. not my contacts or anything. I need the book, Android for Dummies I think. I have been a WinMo person since the beginning of time .. I guess that was WinCE... Hope I can find my SWYPE download email .. I cannot do without swype .. besides being an android virgin, that is the one thing keeping me from taking the rooting-step.
I will come back at noon .. gotta figure out how to get the 'stuff' on to my card. but for now I should get in the shower. Should have been at the office 30 minutes ago.

in that case you may need the _31 update, it appears the _21 are UK and _31 are US

anyway there's no rooted US roms yet, you'll need to speak to Paul at Modaco to see about getting it done.
Just wondering .. I click on the link and that's it ?? or do I need to do anything special ?? Can I download to my computer, copy to SD card and then install ?

Easiest way is to go through your streak browser, as its pretty much automatic, I'm not sure if that way wipes your streak, but it may do.
If you download on desktop pc then copy to sdcard, you'll need to rename it to update.pkg and boot into recovery mode (press both volume buttons at the same time as turning the streak on). Then follow the onscreen instructions
This won't give you root but should give you the latest software... Be aware it will wipe your device, (not the sdcard) so make sure your contacts and anything you may have saved on internal memory)etc are synched
I am gonna give it a go .. Nothing much to lose on the Streak and if worse comes to worse .. I will have an excuse to go back to my iPhone. Still .. Fingers crossed.
1st problem. At first I was going to download the file in my browser but changed my mind .. Can't get it to stop .. I have even taken out the battery and restarted. My streak is determined to download that file no matter what.
I am going to just let it carry on. I don't have the Streak connected to wi-fi so this is going to be timely . . but it is just a waste of time because ..
I tried the doing the update by installing it on my sd card .. All seemed to be going well .. then I got this message. "fota model name mismatch system will reboot in 30 seconds ... "
AND SO .. NOTHING NEW .. NO CHANGES ..
The download finished and I clicked to install etc .. Got the same error .. and it wouldn't install.

Big Problem! Please help!

Hi
I have my mozart since the 3rd november.
All worked fine.. But now, my mozart doesnt turn on. I press the power-button, the htc-screen comes and then.. Nothing! After 1 minute, the phone turns off and on automaticly. But it doesnt come out of the htc-screen...
Have you tried removing the battery for some seconds and putting it in again?
Have you tried running the phone without the SIM-card yet?
A different solution might be to do a hard reset - however, this removes all the data from your phone! For a step-to-step manual, search the forum
These are the only things I can think of at the moment...
Good luck
Yes i tried these things... Than i have to do a hard-reset
I did a hard-reset. The device works. But everything ist deleted, but not the phonenumbers and the calender?!
Are my pictures and sms on skydrive?

If you chose for them to be automatically uploaded then yes. If not, then no.
Your phone numbers and calender are constantly synced with your live account, which is why you still have them
All pictures are removed... Deleted
I cant find a option to upload my sms?! Is it possible?
According to the HTC website there should be several backup tools in the marketplace...
I haven't checked this information yet, so I bet you just have to see for yourself.
//EDIT:
As of now - there is still no possibility to backup your data.
However, the January update is rumored to bring backup to Zune

Any issues after Chevron unlock?

Non-stop issues with my Titan and trying hard to identify the source of the problem.
Twice I've spend multiple hours setting up my Titan, syncing files, installing apps.. configuring.. Then finally the Chevron unlock. Only for the next day something strange to occur.
Out of nowhere the phone will show the black Zune sync screen and say it's syncing.. yet it's not attached the to PC and I'm at work away from my home PC. So i cancel the screen.. then suddenly the UI glitches and I can't open any hubs. Any hub I press starts to open then goes back to the homescreen in some glitchy manner.
So I have no choice but to reset. Then upon reset it starts to go through the initial first time setup! But yet all my files and apps are still there after going through it.. Weird. Another reset causes my phone to freeze on the HTC logo then I have to manually perform a hard reset.
Now I don't know.. is my phone a bad one of the batch and need replacement or is my phone just having a delayed bad reaction to the Chevron unlock? All I sideloaded was the Nokia Maps Beta, Screenshot app and the Battery meter homebrew app.
Comments?
Wierd problem you got urself there.. It could be a faulty device, but I wouldn't give up on it just yet.. Try to do a hard reset, delete everything, and then try it again.. With chevron unlock, I assume ur using the legit developer unlock? right?

Benefits with the unlock is that you can sideload apps and install apps from your pc. Also homebrew apps that's not in the marketplace..
Sounds to me like your device is attempting to wirelessly sync with your computer. Disable wireless sync & see if this changes the devices behaviour. I take it your device is charging or has been charging when this happens.

Well wireless sync was not enabled on Zune on my home PC. BUT I did sync it manually once. When I got to work I plugged in the cable to charge it. Left it for a while.. found the screen saying syncing.. but yet no Zune is even on my work PC. Then it glitched out like nuts..
Anyway it's clearly a broken device. I went through the entire setup again of my phone but minus the Chevron unlock for testing purposes. When all was said and done I did a soft reset for fun to ensure it was stable. It booted back up, and after unlocking the screen the homescreen was black except for the time on the top. Hitting buttons would cause it to vibrate. Volume buttons brought up the onscreen volume. Holding the windows button brought up voice control.. BUT no homescreen and no tiles or start menu so no programs could be launched. Soft resets did not resolve.
I'd definitely say it's the device now.

Are there any apps that are worth undergoing all these procedures and payment? Or are there just few handpicked (5-6) apps that are not on market.
Ideally I would do this, if those apps included things like:
SMS back up
SMS scheduler
anything that will switch of haptic feedback on home, back and search buttons
more accent colours
I keep failing to find any resource that has these sort of apps. I don't want to unlock it only to find out that it wasnt worth it. I'm very skeptical and unsure where to dig!
1. not yet
2. I think so... there's at least one that pops up a reminder with a text ready for you to send at a preset time
3. don't think so
4. you need to be interloped unlocked to do this. Go to the WP7 Development and hacking forums and you'll read all about this. Its not available yet for the titan but its CLOSE

Super N00b with some basic questions GAAHH! :)

Hello,
I was told this is the place to come for everything related Galaxy S III from several people. Please excuse me if this is the wrong place or section.
I'm completely new to the Galaxy 3 and Android in general.
I'm on sprint and I've had the Palm Pre since launch, I just got my GS3 yesterday (amazon $149 no tax, free 2 day shipping) :victory:
As you can imagine coming form the Pre, my mind is blown. It's a bit overwhelming, I'm a pretty tech-savvy dude (pre was hacked to its limits) so I down to tinker. But before I even get started with that I have some basic questions.
1. Is there a way to only use a password unlock once per phone power-on instead of every time the screen locks?
1a Even better would be able to use a simple pin for screen unlock but still have the SD/Internal encrypted with a long password. Is that possible?
2. When I press back, how do I know if an app has been killed? I keep getting the feeling it still somehow running in the background?
3. Is the application manager like the Windows process manager? How do I know what are essential system apps and what can be stopped?
4. What is the best way to get rid of bloatware?
5. What are the diffrent system updates? PRL, Profile, Samsung Software, Firmware?
6. Why is there "com.sec.sprextension.phoneinfo.D..." under Device administrator? Do I need that? Is that a security hole/risk?
Again, sorry for so many questions, just trying to wrap my head around all of this. If there is a better place to be asking question please let me know.
Look forward to being part of the community! :highfive:
BR
1) not by default, maybe an app could aid there, not sure, but on stock "out of the box" the answer is "no"
1a) nope, if you want to use encryption, it's password all the way
2) Settings -> Application Manager -> "Running" tab
3) Kind of. It also warns you when you try to kill off a system app, but you can't really damage anything by doing that. I tend to kill just everything I don't want at the moment (which is usually everything but the widgets and app I am intentionally running) and all is well.
Stuff that REALLY needs to run, restarts automatically anyways (and some that don't have to, do as well....)
4) Settings -> Application Manager -> All -> Tap on app -> "Disable"
5) You will find an uncountable number of ROMs / Firmwares here. Stock as well as custom. What the best one is, is personal preference.
6) might be something added by the carrier. try to disable it, see what happens
7) ( ) .... ( ) whoops, no 7 xD
Hope that helped a bit

You most certainly are in the wrong forum. This one is for the international S3 which doesn't feature LTE. There's a Sprint forum right above/below this one =)

That would make password unlock more or less redundant. Anyone could still access the phone.

You're correct. Well, partially. It's still "alive" in terms of being in the memory. But it doesn't use CPU anymore which is all that counts.
However you don't want to kill it. Cached processes take up no space (the RAM is emptyed whenever the capacity is needed), no resources and allow you to multi-task right back to where you left off.

You don't want to stop anything. Refer to the prior question for this. Well... you may want to kick off some bloatware but to get rid of thm the phone needs to be rooted. There are threads listing which apps you can safely remove.
What is the best way to get rid of bloatware?

As said, you need to be rooted. Use TItanium Backup to freeze the bloatware. It's still physically "there" on the disk (doesn't take up much space) and you can defrost it whenever needed but as long as it's frozen it cannot be started.

App updates are always delivered through their corresponding market. Usually the Google Play Store, but as for Samsung apps they have their own update mechanism.
Firmware and ROM are updated either OTA or through Kies on the computer. They can also be manually flashed through Odin.

Sounds like some carrier bloatware and from the name of it is supposed to open some file extension called '.spr' for the phone.

I need smart help for my dumb phone. ":-\\ Apps I loaded seem embedded for all time?

I have this LG Android, Premier Pro LTE. I recently learned something about it that in the years I've had it I didn't know. It's reports 64-bit ARMv8. But sold at the time 32 was the norm and 64 was coming in. So it reports it's in 32-bit 'mode'. And I searched a little and getting it into 64-bit mode looks like a rocket scientist needs to be present. IF, it even has all the native programs to switch. It could be they made it just enough to sell like, Ok it will work mr purchaser but when you need 64-bit it can be switched into 64-bit mode. I think it was more a marketing ploy than a viable option.
My problem or question is how come so many programs I loaded seen embedded or stuck to the phone as if they were original apps. For instance. I loaded the full Facebook app when new. I then found out about Facebook Lite. So I installed it. Now is will not let me uninstall the original Facebook only disable it. That still takes up space, which I'm losing. Now up to 90% with all the programs I need, but I can't remove these old ones. Not to mention the original programs that are defunct like LG's calendar, contacts, etc. All unsupported programs now. What's up with this? Howz come it wont allow me to uninstall programs that "I" installed, not them? I suspect this can be done but you smart fellers will talk over my head. ty in any case.
ADD: would it be an option to do a full factory reset? Would I lose my phone number?
ADD: it is Snapdragon
