thanks so much for this, going to test modem the modem and i'll let you know if all is good
Thanks for this. Hopefully we will see similar threads for Bell and Rogers. It's always nice to have copies of the stock files available in the forum.
Thanks!
BTW, what is the version of TELUS Stock? I'm kind of disappointed when I found out Bell only on LF4.
Just so others know...this rom does not work. It hangs on the boot screen and never advances. I checked it, I reverted back to GB and tried again...wiped cache and factory reset etc. nothing worked. I appreciate the effort, as I can't update through KIES or OTA, but hopefully one is put out for TELUS that works.
Well then I'm deleting the link, system image must be broken

But can any plz tell me the easiest way to get my phone back running it only goes to the boot samsung screen i cant get into clockwork but downloading screen. Please and thx plz provide links
You need to use put your phone into download mode, use Odin to flash .
update
the rom i had was bionix frost 2.2.1 is there some kind of way to just reflash a rom to get my phone back running
You can PM tomorrow, if you don’t have the files.
Yes,you need a tar file and using Odin
Your phone is soft brick! You can still flash but only by using Odin. Do you know how to use Odin
If you can still get in to CWM and you left the ROM on your internal SD, just re-flash. Everything should work after that. That would be the easiest way, followed by ODIN.
As long as you have a complete ROM on your internal SD card you should be able to get into recovery (hopefully) via the hardware buttons and re-flash that ROM with its correct kernel.
Otherwise you are stuck having to go with odin/heimdall and flashing it that way.
Goodluck.
how exactly do i use odin i downloaded it but what do i have to do first i still have a copy of the bionix rom on sd
Use the Vibrant Toolbox here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509 It's the easiest way to go back to stock. Also, anytime you have a problem like this it's best to just Odin back. Reflashing through clockwork can leave alot of bugs.
here is some videos that you can watch

Yes. I know. I'm stupid... obviously...
I simply don't get it, even though I come from another android device (nexus s).
My kernel: xwke1
Great. Then I rooted with a kernel that was also ke1. Good. So far, so good.
But can I now just flash any kernel, and then rom, that I want?
Do I need a SD card, to flash?
What stuff do you normally flash from odin, and what from CWM?
What if I want to go back to the original firmware. Do I download any original odin firmware and take it from there, or do samsung have a tool?
I look very much forward to an answer, as I dont get it.

Yes you can flash what you want
No you need to put stuff on the internal storage for most CWM (clock work mod recovery) kernels (CWM being where you flash things from)
When you want to flash something, read the thread, it will say ODIN FLASH or CWM FLASH, its not to hard.
Most custom roms go via a flashable zip (no its not just a normal zip, it takes scripting to make it flashable, you can just shove stuff in a zip and flash it with CWM), most stock stuff via ODIN.
To go back to stock download a stock rom in a odin flashable format, see a thread in the original dev section, you boot into CWM, you wipe data and cache, then you reboot into download mode and you flash the stock rom.
thankyou so much.
Ok here is what happened
I tried installing the HyDrOG3N-ICS 25.03 rom today on my S2. Everything went smooth. When I restarted my phone again in recovery mood to install the gapps I got the following error
E:/ Can't mount /emmc
Being scarred I tried to reflash the new XXLPQ rom on my phone through odin. Everything went fine in odin but now after restating my phone is stuck on the S boot logo..
Any help guys please.
Boot into recovery & do a wipe/factory reset.
also to provide information.
I am able to go into recovery and download mode. I have wiped the cache and factory reset but still getting the same error.. I can flash the stock rom again but I am worried that emmc error may cause the phone to brick...
OK. If a reset didn't fix it you're going to need to do an Odin flash.
Find a stock rom in Intratech's thread if the links work, if they don't work, you can download one for Samfirmware.com (follow whatever instructions they have for flashing firmware downloaded from their site).
Or if you're happy with the latest firmware for your carrier/country you'd normally get with Kies, get the PC version of Checkfus which will enable you to download same. Follow the Odin instructions in Intra's thread to flash the package you download with Checkfus.
Well did the reflash on the XXLPQ rom and after 10 nerve racking minutes..its up and running.. Thanks alot.
Don't thank me, you fixed it on your own Glad you got it sorted
helped another noob help himself ....
Hahahaha I guess I did then.
ok new problem.. The mobile is running fine now..
but when I go into recovery mode it can't fine my internal sd card. I can't apply an update from a zip file.
It gives me an error that can't mount E: ... looks like my internal memory is broke..
seems like the custom rom fried it or something. And I can't go post on that thread thanks to xda new members rule :/
Only way to find out if it's a rom problem or something else is to go back to stock as originally suggested. Or wait until you can post on the dev thread.
I am back on the stock XXLPQ 4.0.3 rom for the S2. Still getting the error in recovery mode.
Can't access the internal SD
Do a 'clean' flash, I.E format cache, data, system, & sd card then flash in Odin. Or reflash a GB stock rom & see if you still have the problem. If you do, it might be hardware issue.
I can still access it through the file manager but can't access it through recovery
so it can't be a hardware issue can it?
and I am on the stock kernal and standard recovery so there isn't option for formatting data, system, & sd card, just cache. what do I do now?
the error that i am getting is.
E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory exist)
CWM was refereing to that as emmc .. maybe is that the issue???
Probably not in that case.
OK. I'm only going to say this one more time. I have no idea of the nuances of the particular rom you're using, because I've never used it.
However...
If I were running a 'stock' (*coughs* ahem) ICS rom or any other ICS variant & I was having problems like that, I would go back to GB to see if the problem can be reproduced. If so, then it's pretty obvious what the issue is. If not, then it's clearly an issue with the ICS rom & you need to speak to the developer/more experienced users of the rom in question.
As I have no idea of how the rom you're using handles the links to the external/internal SD cards, I have no idea about 'CWM was refereing to that as emmc .. maybe is that the issue ?'.
ok thanks.. one question what do u mean by GB rom? I am using the samfire ICS stock rom
and by cwm meant clock work mode recovery
Gingerbread. Pre-ICS. Country specific/non carrier specific roms here, carrier specific roms here. If links don't work, go to Samfirmware.com & find a stock rom for your carrier/country or a generic one for your country only.
Yes, I know what you meant by CWM.
Thanks will try the XWKI4 rom. That was the one before this one.. will it be ok to flash back to that through odin from ICS??
Yep. Shouldn't be any dramas flashing GB via Odin if you're currently using ICS.
Finally 10 post.. now I can go ask the developer
I had the same issues as you, could not access the SD.
In my case, I could just use USB mode in CWM, and copy over the Rom again to a part of the filesystem CWM could actually access.
Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care which ROM I use - As long as I get the phone working again. I did download 7comp ROM but I couldn't find any .tar files?
I also converted the ZIP to a TAR but odin isn't picking it up ?!
OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.
It seems to have installed, but doesn't go past the splash screen which says samsung galaxy Sii
Any ideas?
[EDIT] - Phone fixed. I was able to load it into recovery mode and cleared cache. woo
Well done ...now try to go on recovery mode ...if should be able to go....do full wipe...then clear delvik cache...then advance- fix permission ..
Then reboot system ....you are done...
Don't forget to say thanks..

Attempted to root the phone but it didn't work.
I followed a set of instructions, and was asked to wait for the phone to reboot. It now has the "!" rooted icon but won't go past the rooted screen.
System restore and clearing cache doesn't set it back to factory default. Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply. I followed a video on youtube showing you how to root the phone. It looked succesfull as the "!" did appear, but it wouldn't go past that.
So I rolled it back using the original ROM and have given up on rooting it. It's a shame as I really liked Jelly Bean

Hi..first i would do is flash the original rom for your phone and your region with odin, unless you had that OTA update that installs knox and then going back will not work, if you are on the original rom yet just reflash it, and then check this post here and get one of the recoveries from @Silesh.Nair signature in his post as links are in my post already for that and get the tar file of the recovery and flash it with odin and once the recovery is done flashing you must reboot into the recovery right away again otherwise it will install the stock recovery again..this only has to be once and then it will go into the custom recovery after that when you boot up your phone.
Then put UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip onto your sdcard or external sdcard if you have one installed and flash it with the recovery and that will give you SuperUser status then and your phone will then be rooted as it works good doing it this way, by flashing the original rom or even a custom rom you should not lose your pics as that is usually left alone when doing this or can be synced with your google account if you did it this way.
This is what i would try first and see how it turns out especially when you flash the original rom..boot it up and see if you got your stuff back..unless the pics got deleted some how, use odin also to flash the original rom..just unpack it from it's zip file first and use the tar file inside.
Also do not wipe your internal sdcard as if your pics are on there it will delete then, you can do factory reset and the other stuff...let me know how you make out.
