HI can anyone explain to me the different Roms there are? Whats the difference between Samsung based roms, AOSP based roms, AOKP based roms, MIUI based roms and Sense based roms. I'm going to install either Omega or WanamLite but are any of the other non-samsung based roms better?
That is all pretty personal, do you want aal the pro`s of Samsung software and functions (like Sbeam), you need a Samsung based rom. Do you want the pure google experience, take an AOKP/AOSP Rom. You can find quite a lot of information and reviews on YouTube.
Good Luck..

There are no better roms they are all different ,
AOSP and AOKP are based upon Google/Android firmware not Samsungs .
MIUI is a Chinese built OS .
Sense is a HTC rom not yet working .

Everything about Galaxy S3 development at present is answered here.
Hopefully it will give you some idea about different roms.

I'm not that informed about the newest sources from Samsung but as I've read, LPQ/LP7 is "the" official ICS ROM from Samsung... so my question is - when will there be real AOSP LPQ-based ROMS without all the Samsung stuff/look, just the google-way? Any ETA on this? Already some1 working on it? What about CM9 with LPQ base?

Never, no such thing as aosp based lpq rom, if you want aosp the only choice you have is cm9.
aosp is different than the samsung name scheme like LPQ
they are going to have their own kernel too soon
totally independent from samsung
So what are your opinions on stock vs custom ROMs?
I generally use custom roms. Are stock ROMs considered to be more stable and bug free?
I find Cyanogen usually has some bugs
Too soon to say, it will take a while untill we can get some stable roms.
I always was happy with cyanogen mod on the i9000, it was running smoother and in case of cm7 even had vorher battery life than stock roms. However the problem with cm always was that we never got a final build, cm7 is outdated already and cm9 is running on most cm'd devices and cm7 is at rc3 now. But i am pretty sure i will give cm a try again when it will be available for the g3.

is it true that custom roms begin to lagg after a while ? and more and more ram is used ? i only need boeffla sound mod , if i stay with stock sammy and boeffla kernel its as stable as pure stock?
After trying most of the ROMs here i can honestly say that in most cases sammy based roms are more stable and provide better battery life. Personally I don't like the touchwiz interface... it all depends if you're willing to sacrifice battery and go with something different like MIUI.

Huh... you want a rom built by samsung but that has absolutly nothing samsung made in it? Not sure how's that even possible
There's only 2 ways to go, from what i understand:
- for absolutly nothing related with samsung your best bet is any rom compiled (and modded) from google sources like CM10, aokp, slimbean, etc
or
- any samsung based rom with those aroma setups that allow for the removal of just about anything before installing. In this sense you'll be good with just about any rom you pick since all seem to have it But you'll still have samsung stuff in it since they built it, not sure if there's how to go round that

Will i am new in this android world and in really early stages in modding and flashing ,but the android modding so far is similar to what i use to do with Windows Mobile bck in the days ,it was possible to get stoke WM rom and install it in just any device and build whatever on it
I'm looking at some AOSP roms and have a question about a feature in them.... what are ribbons? I've used Carbon for a little while before and didn't touch them, but I mostly use stock roms.
Thanks
I think our stock rom is aosp, or it is not?

Its really strange that no developer is coming up for this great device. Even galaxy grand have slim bean, resurrection remix and other roms. Why on earth developers are not trying to make some roms for mega?

Imho the simple reason is Samsung have not made available the SOURCE for the firmware of Mega.
We have a few ROMs and couple guys working on CyanogenMod............yeah maybe we don't have slimbean or PAC or aokp or ....well the list can go on but a stable clean CyanogenMod base is probably more important to get right before creating added features to it.

Damn it is that true? I thought that we have the source for the FW.
So thats the reason why we still stay with stock ROMs. Hmm..
I love my Mega but we need some developer attention that would do miracles around here.
It will all come in time

Truely what is it behind any custom rom that stock rom +utilities could offer! Most of the time with good utilities one could have the best rom there is the stock one (less bugs) and good overall performance ..we can always add or eleminate any stock apps...them drivers are the worst nightmare devs facing specially for latest roms ported for a defferent devices.

My previous phone it was Motorola Defy, with locked bootloader, forgotten by it's parent company and not upgraded any more from Froyo stage. THEN it was sensible to seek custom roms to have newer system.
Now I do not need so - my system is mostly up to date and probly will be upgraded (soon) to KitKat. All TW futures suited me well, so what is the reason to flash not fully functional custom ROM? Rooting the phone is another question (in fact - this is NO question )
