Hi guys is there anyway to make the volume rocker skip to the next or previous track by holding either the up or down button? This was something I really liked I on my previous phone as I could skip tracks without removing it from my pocket.

Cheers
Is there a solution for kitkat? The link above is for ICS and JB only.

i have thought of this, when the screen is locked i the home button should be play/pause, the menu back and the backkey next song.
I bought Music PlayerPro - the Volume Up/Down keys skip next/previous, or hold for volume up/down. (You can reverse this behaviour in the app too).
This works when the screen is locked btw.
I would love pause too... but the volume down does a similar job.

I think it was released the same day you asked, as well!
is there a way to use the volume buttons to switch between tracks? like in my old k800 when i longpressed a volume button it played the next or the previous track. it would be nice and it would save battery cos it would not activate the screen all the time
Hey, I was thinking about something likewise. It would be nice that while the phone is closed, a single click on the camera button would start/stop music, a double click on the camera button would go to next track.
Hello guys!
I have several things in mind, and a few questions. Hope this is the right place to post.
First of all: why are all the smartphones makers getting rid of physical buttons? I don't see any good thing about those tactile buttons we have on the Galaxy S3 for instance: you press the "back" button by mistake all the time, and you have to turn your screen on to be able to use them.
How do you do when you're doing some sports or just walking down the street and simply press a button in your pocket to skip a track you're listening to?
Secondly: I thought there was a kind of rule about how to use the long press function on volume buttons. In my mind, it's clear that a long press on Volume Up will skip to the next track, and a long press on Volume Down will skip to the previous track. How disappointed I was when I discovered it was not the case on the Galaxy S3!
Is there a simple way to have this working (no custom ROM, no super complicated hacking...)? Is it a modification by Samsung itself? Cause apparently applications I was using before on my old HTC that supported this feature don't skip anymore when I long press on Volume Up button... instead, it just destroy my ears with a super loud volume! How useful is that?!
I don't want to change the stock ROM, as I had a lot of troubles before with custom ROMs on my previous smartphone (either the GPS wouldn't work anymore, or the camera, or another thing...)
Thanks in advance for your help and advices!
EDIT: I found a way to achieve this. Check out my other post!
My RAZR randomly mutes the media volume and I can't see how to unmute it. If I press the volume keys it still has an speaker icon with a strike through it

I also face the same issue many times on my RAZR since ICS and pressing the volume keys don't do anything. You've got to go to the settings>sounds>volume and then slide the media & ringtone sliders left n right which will eventually unmute your device.

Same thing here, I am now on JB and in this precise moment I'm facing the same issue, I used to unmute it by setting up an alarm or messing with the volume controls as you say but it is not working anymore, I am now seriously thinking in buying another phone although my razr is working great after the JB upgrade and the phone is in mint condition :S
If anyone was able to fix this please tell us how :S

Guys! I fixed it!, I just looked at more whining guys in this forum and found that I there is an APP that forces sound through the speaker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix
the link to that forum is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211182&highlight=speaker
As soon as I installed the app the sound went back to the speakers yay!!
CM has this feature where you can use the volume rocker to skip tracks when the screen is off. I really dislike the feature so I have disabled it via settings. But now a volume rocker longpress does absolutely nothing when the screen is off. I would expect the volume to increase/decrease gradually when the volume rocker is long pressed. Whats the point of disabling one functionality without re-enabling the other!!
Anybody know the fix to this? Not sure if this problem is just with me, or with everyone on CM.
Thanks
