Hi All,
i am using a non rooted SGS2 in india. its running on the latest android firmware 2.3.6 (waiting for ICS.. )
the problem i am facing is that from past few days i see my battery drains very very quickly.. even if there is nothing running in background. i am using juice defender ultimate.. i guess its not helping either..
also it takes like forever to charge up.. i mean i plug my phone for charging at 17% after 2 hours it just reached to 21%..
at times while charging it through the USB.. it seems to be discharging.. it was at 37% after some time its reduced to 29%..
Also my phone heats up a lot for unnecessary reasons..
has any one faced this issue? please help...

first of all what programs run in background of your device?
second, what battery you use ? (1650 mAh 2000 mAh)
have you looked at your battery if the battery is working 100% or if the battery is damaged?
what rom is running on your device, which kernel do you use?
Could happen from rom. Here in germany the official 2.3.6 update was cancelled because of problems containing battery drain und reboots. Perhaps same stock rom problems in development.

i think your battery is gone. Maybe try charging it with the phone off or something. and if it it goes to 100% u can try download the battery calibration app on market to calibrate it properly. I would try everything i can before sending it back to samsung.
sounds like hardware problem mate, the phone should warm up when plugged but it shouldn't be above 35°C or so, and the slow charge problem could be related
if you can get another battery to test it out, or just buy a new one
good luck
You could try to reset your battery stats before going out buying a new battery.
thanks guys for your suggestions..
i uninstalled some of the crappy apps that i never used.. & voila my phone is back to normal .. less heat up.. battery lasts for 1 day.. hope it stays that way..
waiting for ICS..
@jeroensk - how can reset my battery stats..?
Clear battery stats boot to cwm recovery >> advanced wipe battery stats
But you will need a cwm and rooted phone ..
As battery stats do not need wiping dont worry about it battery automatically calibrates itself .
Some muppets think wiping battery stats actual does something . |It does not play any part in charging the battery or battery life on SGS2 .

Hi, all
I have a problem in my SE xperia mini, after rooting with zergrush version 4 and running the script the fixes overheating problem, I got my battery miscalibrated,
the battery indicator goes from 15% to 1% in a second then warning of shutting down,
I have tried the two highest rated battery calibration on market but it gets worse
It started to shut down at 11% then at 15% now at 17%
is there any tool that can fix that problem, please note that I'm running version 4.0.2.a.0.42 and I only rooted the phone without flashing any custom ROMs
thanks a lot in advance
There is no such thing as battery calibration for Android.
That is because batteries do not have any kind of memory effect. NONE AT ALL.
Even this batterystats.bin file doesn't affect anything, it only contains information about what has used battery and how much, only for the battery usage page.
Don't believe me, go check the link in my signature.
why nt try another battery buddy...?

Thank you, so can I ask .. how to adjust my battery indicator ?
it shuts down at 15% after rooting, is that a coincidence ?

thank you but I don't think it is a hardware issue but I may try that if software solutions failed
ok buddy i also have xperia mini and i faced the overheat problem and i was on v 62 firmware so i downgrade to v 42 then root the phone and used the gscript and
now the phone works fine no problems now you tell me that u have a kind
battery problem so as you said the problem is software and you have 2 possible
solutions :
1- try to unroot your phone
2 - upgrade your phone to v 62 and dont be afraid the overheat problem
wont come back in the new version 62 or any time
try and tell us the results
I have the same problem but I'm getting 52% to 0%.
I tried battery calibration with app and cwm battery wipe. No success.
Read somewhere today that charging battery with the phone off and don't let it charging for a long time can solve the problem.
I'll give it a try.
I have it stock and rooted, no alternative rom instaled.

As I said, there is no such thing as battery calibration.
Also, there is no such thing as too long charging. Charging is stopped via specific onboard circuit, if battery is full so there is no chance of overcharging.

Overheat problem exists in 62 too. What he can do is update over the air (OTA) to 62 to maintain root.

I don't know if changes remain after flashing rom but there is no need to loose root since it's not necessary to unroot for updating. That way he can run the script again if he faces the problem again.
I tried just one time.
I let the phone die with no battery and fully charged it with power off.
Now it's ok again.
Give it a try.

Dear all,
I found a solution for this problem, I hope it will be useful for people that are facing it
after my battery was totally discharged and the phone shut down, I removed the battery ... waited for a while .. then inserted it again ... powered on the phone with charger cabled plugged .. then the phone started to charge normally again 1% 2% 3% ..etc and when it was fully charged I unplugged the charger, it drained normally to 1%
thank you all for your tips.

I have this same problem and i get consistent shut downs at 72% then 53% and every few minutes of usage afterward however this is on my Xperia Play! So perhaps this is a similar issue, I've been needing to solve this for a long time and hope this works! I'll try it asap but I can never seem to fully drain my battery! So I'll just leave the machine for a week and see if it drains! (crosses fingers + Knocks on wood)
i have a serious issue with my device , my device indicating wrong battery status (which i think so) , whenever i try to charge my device it starts charging 1% after every 2-3 sec and even more faster discharging rate, so i changed my battery with another one but still same result . my phone take 10% of juice within 30 sec of uses.
the problem begins when i switched back to stock ics rom after using a lot of roms without flashing the kernels . now i tried everything i m on stock rom with stock sony kernel , even more i tried stock GB rom but same result again .
currently i m on.....
stock .587 firmware
formatted D-card
locked bootloader
stock SONY kernel.
How can i solve this issue. please help me, its so annoying
thanx!

charge till 100%, start the app, press calibrate and then unplug your phone from charger. your phone must be rootet.
after calibration use your phone till it has only 1 or 2 % left, then charge again to 100% without interrupt. dont calibrate again.
if the problem still isnt fixed with calibration, try this:

My friend, i can see you have problem with the batery life. I don't know if any of you has noticed this, but when the phone is charging and it reaches 100%, you shouldn't remove the charger. The phone is still charging even after reaching 100%,sometimes for half an hour. If you want to see when the phone is fully charged, go to Settings-About phone-Phone status. In the first field you can find if the phone is or is not fully charged. Try this and let's see what happens. I hope i can help some of you.

I once had problems with the Mediaserver which was draining my batterie.
it did so because of 2 Videos he didn't recognize, i also heard the Mediaserver can run crazy if the sd card is broken.
So which app is using your batterie that much?

battery is not draining, actually it is showing wrongly .... every time after removing battery it shows actual amount of battery remaining , yesterday i charged my phone several time until it reached actually 95% and then i starts playing temple run, the battery indicator reaches at 1% within 20 mins and then it remains at 1% charged until 3 hours of continuous gaming and then shuts off, then i put it on charging and it reaches 100% within 15%
and yesterday night i put my phone again into charging and today morning it is showing 100% and after 6 hours of moderate use it is still 100%

great battery life
did you try full wipe in recovery + wipe battery stats in recovery and flash stock rom again?
the most annoying problem in canvas hd is the battery drop problem.
For some users the battery may drop all of a sudden from 34% to 12% while for some it may be different. For me it was always 34% - 12%.
Now the one important thing that I observed was that when I used to charge my mobile , the charging jumped straight from 76% to 100% . In my view the battery was never charged for the last 20%. And it was this 20% that appeared as the sudden drop.
Now coming to the solution..
Battery calibration and wiping batterystats.bin actually never solved the problem because I tried both.I don't know if changing the Kernel did.
So I have come up with one solution that won't disappoint you..
Follow the steps..
1. Let your battery drain to below 10%.. say 8% ..
2. Charge your battery like u always do..
3. When the battery reaches 100% , do not disconnect the charger, go to System settings and then battery and check the graph..(don't disconnect the charger because doing so will reset the graph).
4. notice the sudden increase in battery charging.
5. Use the phone as u always do and let it discharge to 70% ..
6.Here comes the LIFE SAVING STEP..Now what you have to do is charge your phone in one go..there should be no interruption in charging..If the electricity goes off even for a second..the whole process fails..so prefer using a UPS..
7. Let the battery charge to 100% and use normally.
8. Its my guarantee that the battery drop is gone.
The bad part..
The problem reappears after a reboot.. and we have to repeat the procedure again.
Come on , Don't be PANIC about sudden drop ,First of All letting the battery drop from 100% to 1% leads to fluctuation in battery volt,be aware about it ,Don't use your chd while charging is most important ! if you may use your chd normally like noob users who only use fb.watsupp etc whenever they need ,it won't drop like 30-12% ,fast drain made by users leads to bloat of battery ! high volt ofbattery from 90-100% has corrosive effect if you drain fast then your battery would PREGNANT or fat or swell
DON"T PANIC USE YOUR DEVICE AS A PHONE

I also have this type of problem when my phone completely runs out of battery and when plug it in charger it bump to 48%.
I dont the reason behind it that why it happen and whats the reason behind it.
If you have recently rooted your phone and have flashed custom rom in your phone than you may face problem of mis-calibration of battery. For solving this download a software called battery calibration apk ( google it ) . Your phone must be rooted if you wana use that app. but before you calibrate your battery make sure you charge your phone to 100%.
when you 100% open that app and grant the super user permission. Click on calibrate.
what the app does is that it will remove batterystat file from our phone and automatically it generate a new batterystat file in your phon. Thus any faulty or mis-calibrated file will be removed and you will get good battery life.
after calibrating do some cycle charge mean from 100% to 0% and from 0% to 100% without interuption. Do it for 3-4 times and you will see a drastic change in your battery life.
Calibration of batteries is a myth, battery stats is cleared every time you unplug a nearly fully charged device. Also draining modern batteries to dead is not good for them at all so I'd discourage it unless necessary.
