[app] xbmc on evo lte - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

MY TWO FAVORITE THINGS HAVE MARRIED AND DONE THE NASTY, XBMC IS HERE!
Well after the recent leak that XBMC was intact about to release XBMC for Android I couldn't hardly sleep and was like a.dog in heat. I am pleased to say that earlier today I was able to confirm that XBMC is running on the EVO LTE. I have done minimal testing as I.don't store a whole lot of media on my phone but I was able to.confirm mp3 mp4 (videos recorded at 1080 on my phone have audio out of sync) and TED Talks streaming.
Here's a screenshot.

UPNP is working just fine with my home server. This is fantastic and I can't wait for some of the bugs to get worked out.

I too have upnp working but the one thing that is glitchy is the audio. It's very crackly.

This is technically pre-alpha. Now that it's been unveiled though, I suspect that development will happen at a record pace. Here's the link to the XBMC post announcing android support for more info: http://xbmc.org/theuni/2012/07/13/xbmc-for-android/

What's exactly needed to use this app?

I built XBMC from source a couple days after the announcement from the XBMC team. Been running it on my hardware version 003 EVO 4g ever since with zero problems once I worked out the kinks. Something that will help with the crackling audio is to select the option to sync to the audio stream. It's under System > Video > Playback. For A/V Sync Method, select Audio Clock. Your video may play catchup for a frame or two here and there, but that's far less annoying than having your audio constantly resampling, and click and pop because of it. Oh, as a side note, XBMC didn't run worth a darn on any sense roms I tried. Even bare stock gingerbread was complete garbage for xbmc. However, on CM7 it runs smooth as silk. And you should deffinately run the "Touched" skin if you're using the handset screen to test, etc. Confluence is just too darn small on that size screen...
Now I just have to find a usable remote control solution, and I'll retire my EVO to the shelf between my DVR and Xbox.
Good luck!

I was reading in the general section and responded there too, its checking for drm which our devices don't actually have which is causing the error not allowing us to use playback
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Hmmm could be editing apk (if possible I don't even know) to not check or if it checks to automatically say yes instead of checking?

Yea, the second image, towards the bottom, thats where you can see it's trying to check the drm.
I was able to find the drm.apk and odex in the evo forums found here if anyone else wants to play with it.
Also, I'm trying to download the whole dump so I can play with it and see if there is anything in the /system/lib that we may be missing, but every where I try I never get a full download, so any help on that would be much appreciated
this is awesome, this needs to get more exposure maybe some devolper can figure out how to get drm on our phones so we can stream
We have drm(I think). Just not the right permissions it looks like. Going to play with this mote tomorrow, need sleep.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
Just checked, we do. It's under
/system/app/drm provider.apk
At least that's the case for royal glacier 1.4
Sent from my royalginger 1.3
feels so close to being complete
Yes we do have the DRM Provider.
If stock then it's version 2.2.1 - I noticed the dumped version is 2.2.2
Ye, that was just one idea to look through that i found on the evo forums, I'm thinking what were looking for is gonna be in the revolution dump itself, probably under /system/lib.
Only problem is I still can't get the full thing to download from any source that I've found, it always shorts out at around 380-400mb on me and the full dump is 442mb
wow, this is actually pretty exciting.! I wish I could code at that level..
This will be so awesome when works, cannot wait!!!

It's really up in the air at this point. On one hand, there could be some hardware based decrypting the chip is capable that older chips can't do. On the other hand, it could just be that they're not allowing streaming from any android devices right now.
When somebody gets the revolution and fires up netflix, we'll have something to troubleshoot with.
I've replaced the drm provider apk but i can't seem to find where the .odex goes. has anyone found that?

Power Amp is 100x better for functionality. UI wise thats a personal taste.
The only thing I miss about my HD7 was the Zune music player, this app rules.

Yeah this only has basic features (playlist support, shuffle, repeat) which you would expect from a music player.
If you want functionality i'd stick with power amp
but personally i think this is the best looking music player i've used and prefer it solely on its looks

ive been messing with these since alpha 2. its pretty solid and getting better. reminds me alot of the feel i had using my zuneHD, but no shuffle repeat options on the now playing. still its actually kinda nice, i bounce back and forth between this and player pro.
edit: found the shuffle repeat options, have to long press the album art. cant wait til finished release.
I like the feel of this and I guess I could use dsp manager for an eq instead of poweramp..

My source Comes from here...
Hulu Plus is now available on four more Android smartphones, bringing the total number of supported devices up to 10. The HTC Thunderbolt, EVO 4G, MyTouch 4G, and G2 are now Hulu Plus enabled, joining the Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, and the Motorola Droid 2, Droid X, and Atrix 4G. Hulu says that they will continue to add to the list of supported devices in the coming months. If you own one of these devices, you can grab Hulu Plus after the break from the Android Market; the service costs $7.99 a month, though be sure to visit Hulu.com/plus to sign up for a free 14-day trial (or a full month if you've got a .edu email address.)

Working great on current MIUI. I had to revert AdFree though or it would just sit there waiting on the ad to load and never play anything.

I dont think its even possible (yet). You need ASOP like CM7 or MIUI in order to even run Sixaxis, and ASOP doesn't support MHL yet. But I haven't tried for myself so Idk :b.

The paid app doesn't work with sense 3.0.
I ordered a samsung note so will it work with that since they dont have sense? Im dying to play my emulators on the big screen. Ive got nesoid,gensoid,n64oid and a playstation emulator that brings back great memories

Ok. I thought the issue was just sense
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using xda premium
I'd just like to clear up a couple of misconceptions:
- The app works on more than just AOSP roms. Many Samsung devices running stock are working.
- The problem on HTC devices isn't Sense so much as the bluetooth implementation they used (they correlate fairly well, so this is more of a mere technicality).
I've just purchased an HTC device in the hopes of figuring out what is required to add support on HTC devices. If I do succeed, the odds of the fix working for most HTC devices is minimal, because there is a lot of variation in the implementation on different devices, but it will be a good start.

apps are still being optimized for this phone. some apps get funky with this phone and until the app gets updated for our phone it will not work properly. so i would just hang tight for a bit and see if it gets fixed
You aren't using any adfree or ad blocking are you? I think that was an issue with one of those services on the kindle fire, which I have. Once you disabled the ad blocking it worked. I don't use hulu or netflix but have seen threads about it.

Spoke with customer service and they said it's DRM protection on unlocked phones. Said screw it and did cancel and I'd be back when they remove the useless DRM.
At least netflix works.
