CM10 "Jelly Bean" for
Nook Tablet
Alpha 0.08.3 Release
“Seriously, Don’t Try To Sell This... You’ll Really, REALLY Regret It” Edition
Hey all,
So once again it’s time. Introducing the first alpha development preview of CyanogenMod 10 (based on Jelly bean) for the BN Nook Tablet, aka codename: “acclaim”. This preview for the internal “emmc” storage is intended only for developers as it is in a very early development stage and not all features of the device are fully working.
Let’s emphasize that-- THIS IS AN ALPHA, RELEASED FOR YOU TO PLAY WITH AND GET A SENSE OF WHAT’S TO COME. AND SOME THINGS DON’T WORK. REALLY. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING ANYTHING CLOSE TO PERFECTION, WALK AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR AN HOUR OR SO, THEN COME BACK. MORE EXCITING DISCLAIMERS/WARNINGS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS CAN BE FOUND BELOW. READ THEM.
Also...
If you have troubles and post to this form, please indicate if you use 16GB (1GB RAM) or 8GB (512 MB RAM) model.
WHAT WORKS
3.0 kernel (mostly works, thx to Kuzma)
display
touchscreen
new “CyanoBoot” menu bootloader (thanks to rebellos for most recent enhancements)
accelerometer
data statistics
additional kernel tweaks/improvements/history
bootcount/battery updates & other acclaim peculiarities addressed
sound
video acceleration
hwcomposition
microphone (does it still crash kernel?)
WHAT DOESN’T WORK
- crashes (random reboots - less frequent though)
- battery drain (got also somewhat better)
SUPPORT
You get none. Zero. Zip. We obligate ourselves to providing nothing further. You are on your own and will have to help each other via this thread. This is provided “as-is”, and if you don’t like it... there is always stock and CM7.
We basically lack time to give full dedication to this rom, and we’re looking for skilled devs who know the OMAP4 platform, Android, and/or other things that might be relevant.
Please join us on IRC: some people are on #nook-tablet (freenode).
BUG REPORTS
This is the format for a bug report: “XXXXX isn’t working. Here is how to fix it: [INCLUDE SOLUTION]” Don’t have source? Too bad. You’ll have to wait then.
If you report bugs, please don’t be disappointed if we can’t fix them immediately (or even never). It’s not because we don’t care, but because we don’t have time or don’t know how to fix it.
NOTE: DEVELOPERS WANTED. Please contact us if you are a developer with something to contribute.
INSTALLATION:
Prepare a “bootable” clockworkmod (CWM) recovery SD. There are instructions for doing this in other threads on XDA.
Download a recovery.img (e.g. from CM9) and the update.zip files at the end of this post to your computer from the link below.
Boot into a recovery SD for acclaim and use it to install the update.zip file. Warning: It should overwrite the contents of your emmc, including the stock installation or other operating systems.
From ClockworkMod. perform CWM wipe data and cache (or “restore factory settings”) to clear previous content from those partitions. Again, you will be erasing anything you had on those partitions.
Remove the SD card and select the reboot option. You should now boot into CM10.
At this point, Fattire’s CyanoBoot bootloader can be used to flash recovery.img to the internal mmc.
To install CWM to emmc, download the recovery.img file from CM9 thread and do the following:
Download and install fastboot for your computer’s operating system.
Boot the device and hold the “n” key to get into the cyanoboot menu
From the menu, choose “Enable Fastboot”
On your computer, run: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
EMMC? IS THERE AN SD VERSION?
Of course it won’t be hard to do, but don’t look for an SD bootable version from us any time soon. EMMC is our thing, dig?
RETURNING TO STOCK (THEORETICAL-- THIS MAY NOT WORK)
If you have installed above rom and the CWM recovery and you really hate it and want to go back to stock, you may wish to try to flash the original acclaim_update.zip from BN. You have to unzip that file and edit META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script. Drop the first two lines here:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "blaze" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "blaze");
Zip the package again. Then go to CWM, flash the zip, wipe, and reboot.
THANKS TO...
chrmhoffmann, hashcode, kuzma, fattire, rebellos, mik_os, nemith, Texas Instruments, BN, and so many others, especially those who helped test cyanoboot.
A special shout out to Bauwks is also in order, who defeated the malevelant locked bootloader with some serious geniusness.

Can there be a version of this ROM on the 2.6 kernel like there is one for CM9. I use that as my daily driver, wanna use this one similarly too!

It doesn't fix video as the ducati stuff doesn't work. But it fixes audio. Thanks!
To fix audio move attached file to /system/etc:
adb push media_codecs.xml /system/etc/
I believe it random reboots after sleeping for a while. Though to keep it alive, I set the display to go off in 30 min. I use WakeLock also.
The fix to enable chrome and whatnot as described in this post isn't included. Adding that line to your build.prop should enable those apps.
you're awesome guys ...

I am not sure what is the intention of your post.
a) If it is a "bug report", you are missing a lot of information...like logs, etc. Let me quote the OP: "This is the format for a bug report: “XXXXX isn’t working. Here is how to fix it: [INCLUDE SOLUTION]” Don’t have source? Too bad. You’ll have to wait then."
b) If you are just looking for support, well then: "You get none. Zero. Zip. We obligate ourselves to providing nothing further."
Please remember, this is a DEVELOPMENT thread, please treat it as such and instead of making posts as this, refer yourself to the Q&A forum, or the General section to post on an existing topic, or make your own topic with questions and/or support related topics.
I'm sure not only I would thank you for that!

Features
Here's what's different to the main tree (See changelog for latest changes in case I forget to update this)
Packaged to be compatible with cedesmith's new style initrd for easy installation on builds using it
CIFS support via a module
mac address patch for wifi/bt by mdebeljuh. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819819
Built without support for ext3 and yaffs
Optimized for speed rather than size
Removed some debug features the average user isn't capable of using anyway (dmesg/logcat still work)
G-sensor workaround by mdebeljuh & jdivic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9208297#post9208297)
Smartass governor added as default
Sysfs interface for optional under/overvolting (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821372) (800-1350mV)
Optional overclocking (via SetCPU or similar) to 1536MHz - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - it may damage your phone
Optional older battery driver with my patch to support the official HTC extended battery (eb version)

Extended battery users extra WARNING!
r8.3+ version with "eb" supports extended batteries using the old driver. r7.7+ temperature reporting for extended batteries is reasonable but NOT accurate. Please see this post for more information.
As of r8.5.3 versions without eb in the name have EXPERIMENTAL (ie it has known bugs) support for extended batteries using a patch to the new driver. More information.

DONATIONS
In the past I've suggested donating to your favorite charity instead of me.
But I've decided due to the amount of time this is now taking to accept some donations. I encourage you to still consider a charity first, such as:
http://www.kennedysdisease.org/
So far I've had enough donations to buy an official HTC extended battery for testing purposes. Future donations will probably be spent on beer, coffee or junk food.
Please only donate if you can spare the money. NOTE: I've all but given up getting extended battery support working with the new driver!
I also can't make any guarantees on how long I can keep investing time in the kernel so please consider any donations to be for past work done, not what I might do in the future.
Finally please note I'm building a kernel here and working on the odd bit of code. The bulk of the work is done by others:
Cotulla
Markinus
Letama
Rajko
gauner1986
and no doubt more I've missed
Donations to some of them can be made here:

Anyone having issues with this kernel. PLEASE before you post them here, try the following:
Make sure you reboot twice after installing so files get updated (or manually update them then reboot if your build won't auto update)
Actually reading the README.txt provided!
Reading my FAQ
If that doesn't work try a stock EVO kernel
If you still have issues with the stock EVO kernel it's nothing I've done and we may have to wait for the devs to fix it.
If that still doesn't work, then don't use any task killers, and try a clean format of your SD card.
If that still doesn't work you're out of luck.

Further Information
I am running Autokiller (despite it's name this is not an automatic task killer) set to Optimum.
I do recommend System Panel Lite to be able to see what processes are using your CPU. I DO NOT recommend using any automatic task killer.
I do recommend using EBL with a 3 sec timeout

A note on the included lights file
memin1857 said:
I talked to gauner1986 (author of the new lights file) and the filename comes from the build.prop file.
It is the ro.board.platform=xxxxxx line in the build.prop file.
xxxxx is also your lights filename. (lights.xxxxx.so)
For example my desire hd build has msm7x30
others I have seen are htcleo, default, qsd8k, ace, bravo.
So you have to rename the lights.htcleo.so that is in hastarins root\system\lib\hw folder to match your builds filename if you want it to work.

[I]Release r8.3 - 17/11/2010[/I]
- Added smartass governor (use SetCPU if you want to try it)
- Added sysfs interface for undervolting (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821372)
- Added g-sensor workaround by mdebeljuh & jdivic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9208297#post9208297)
- Merged main tree - WARNING: Includes new camera driver with auto white balance bug (but auto focus/zoom works)
[I]Release r8.2 - 11/11/2010[/I]
- Minor update to enable App2SD again (yes Angry Birds should install without unmounting SD)
- Merged main tree as usual (nothing of immediate use in there though)
[I]Release r8.1 - 07/11/2010[/I]
- Merged main tree again (light sensor changes, lowered verbosity of battery driver, etc)
- Included latest liblights to go with the light sensor changes
- Removed NFS support
- Moved CIFS support to a module
- Built with support for tunneling (GRE), may help those with VPN issues
[I]Release r8 - 30/10/2010[/I]
- MAJOR CHANGES = now closer to main tree
- Removed gauner1986s video driver tweaks (they were causing issues merging the main tree)
- DOES NOT support extended batteries due to the new ace based driver (until I can figure out a fix, best bet for eb users is to catch myself and/or Markinus on IRC over the next week or so and we may be able to test further)
- DOES NOT support Overclocking/Undervolting/AXI My testing shows they provide minimal benefit in day to day use, and tend to cause unpredictable errors that will make troubleshooting remaining issues (like data issues) harder. I may release a kernel with these things when everything is running smoothly, but until then I won't even be running one on my phone.
- Perflocked = You can't even underclock with SetCPU. My reasoning is the same as above.
- Merged main tree (updated battery driver from Desire HD kernel, plus a tweak to help prevent oom errors)
- Updated wifi.mac patch by mdebeljuh (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8828147)
- Added PPP patch from http://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/2212 (no this does not fix everything with PPP)
I hope to upload to Rapidshare Links

I have no idea sorry. I updated the original post to indicate this.
you test this build?
or
you post this builds for other people try without securety
hastarin said:
I debated releasing an actual built version of this, rather than just the diff, but here goes...
This is a Kernel I built for my own purposes based on the current EVO kernel (as of this commit) and the diffs guaner1986 and darkstone provided in his Desire HD - Beta 2 build.
It has some minor tweaks to the code provided to enable overclocking with AXI enabled. Undervolting support was already there, from gauner1986.diff, along with audio tweaks and others. darkstones shadow writes and writecombine graphic tweaks are also included.
Use at your own risk if you know how. I won't be answering questions on this and I won't be doing another build in a hurry, I'll leave that to the core folks that really know what they're doing.
What's included:
The kernel (as Image) and needed modules
Latest haret.exe
A new initrd.gz (for use with darkstones Desire HD Beta 2 Build) with a logo.rle as created by Letama (hope he doesn't mind)
Diff of the changes made
Before people ask, and so I don't have to answer, no it is not built for extended batteries (unless the base kernel is and I didn't know about it).
NOTE: I have not tested this with other builds. Try it at your own risk. I don't understand half the code in gauner1986's patch.

Is this thread exclusive for Android Elites out there?
Thanks for a very informative thread for the Noobs.
What do we do with this?
Threads shared should offer support to EVERYONE. otherwise its DISCRIMINATORY.
starting a thread just to show off your skills with Android and not offering guide and help just pisses me off really

There are many post on how to update a Kernel.
The dev has compile the kernel for users that don't know how to compile.
I prefer to say thanks to the user to give us the new kernel ..

And posts like yours are why I said I won't answer questions. The information is out there. I had to find it for myself, so can you.
That said, I've linked "know how" in the original post to the wiki:

Should I try this with mattc 1.7 or is there no chance to boot it with this kernel?
Thanks for your work will test.

he should be willing to support the thread not warn those who
have little knowledge to stay away as he wont be answering questions
see my point? that is not in the spirit of community really now is it?
It's working fine. I don't like the first image but better than a white screen. It's overclock to 1113*** . I'll go home later to test WiFi .

I have been building/compiling my Nook Color's ROM from the CM repo. Besides the geek satisfaction, I build for removing some extras and customize for performance. This thread is for sharing what I build for myself with the community. Here is MiRaGe.
Please thank/donate to CM project, especially the lead Nook Color developers, dalingrin, fattire, and keyodi.
Thanks to Nick N, unibroker, Tool Belt, k8108, christoophat, deboyz1014 for their generous donations.
Special thanks to nissanskylinebam for the banner.

- Synced with CM to include the FC fix with rotation. No Statusbar FC on boot anymore. I had tested this fix earlier and it was not preventing the statusbar FC. Now works, I missed something apparently.
- Built an optional ROM with the full language set. If you don't need any other language than English(US) and Spanish, smaller ROM is recommended.

- Synced with CM to include the rotation animation fix. Thanks to kalltkaffe for this brilliant fix.
- Please upgrade to this build if you are on 01232012 build. No other rotation fix is necessary. We are using unchanged CM7 kernel again without the backported CM9 rotation fix.

[U]12/05/2011:[/U]
- Based on Dalingrin's encore kernel, built a modular kernel by configuring the uncommonly used features (they are still available) as kernel modules. There seems to be about 20% increase in the free RAM (available to the apps and cache) after first boot on my nook. If you want to try, here is [URL="http://www.mediafire.com/?6ii07g7bgh2273f"]the link[/URL]. Well, everyone is talking about ICS code release but there is another news that [URL="https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/commit/9eb9d741524dd596798821dedad43ee68207b955"]CM switched to 7.2.0-RC0[/URL] recently which came with a large number changes. I will not go through all those but you can check them [URL="https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_frameworks_base/commits/gingerbread"]here[/URL]. I have also updated Roboto font with the improved version in the Android 4.0.1 source release.

- Latest (05/16/2013) kernel update package. MD5sum: 945e7bd31a3553debea6e7d1543d8c4c (please see this post about turning off WiFi )
Installation:
- Just follow Eyeballer's guide.
- If you are installing MiRaGe for the first time or upgrading after a long time, complete wipe is recommended.
- When upgrading from a recent MiRaGe build, do wipe cache/dalvik-cache only.
- If you do a clean wipe, you will need to flash gapps again. You can find it here or here.
Recommendations:
1) Regarding the status/notification bar force close issues, I recommend unchecking the "disable full screen" option in the Tablet Tweaks to avoid the status bar crashes. This also improves the app behavior especially movies and games that need full screen. To bring the soft buttons back in the full screen mode, I recommend Button Savior (available in the Market). If you had tried this app before, Button Savior developer greatly improved the app lately. When I enable autohide feature in Button Savior, it does not occupy any space on the screen. I just use the short swipe option at the right edge of the screen and bring the soft buttons when needed. Since I keep the soft buttons on the status bar, Button Savior is only used when an app goes to full screen mode. You can even remove the soft buttons from the status bar completely if you prefer an uncluttered status bar.
2) If WiFi is not starting automatically on reboot, please see the fix in this post.

Disclaimer: I don't accept any responsibility for any kind of damage or loss. If you are going to report problems, please make sure that there are no mods or themes applied to the system. Also, SD installations are not supported since many problems are related to the performance of particular SD card. Only EMMC installation is recommended and supported. Before reporting any problem please try reflashing after a clean wipe.
Looks nice! Might try it out later tonight
Wow... that looks like I need to try it.

Didn't install a market
The ROM works well, but didn't install any version of the market. (I came from a MIUI rom and did a complete wipe.)
I downloaded Titanium from their website and everything is now functioning.
Just my two cents worth.

Since you had done a complete wipe, flashing gapps is required after flashing ROM (same as CM7 installation). Market will be there after gapps.
Can you list the items we need to uninstall from Titanium Backup after install if we dont' want to do a clean wipe?
Also, what widget are you using in screenshot for clock with weather and mem/free space stats?

ROMS don't automatically come with gaaps due to license issues. You have to flash them separately.

The removed applications are the followings. It is not a requirement to uninstall them (although they are mostly useless for me) but it would be good if you uninstall the first since it is decompiled in the system.
CMUpdateNotify.apk
______________
Androidian.apk
Cyanbread.apk
CMWallpapers.apk
Development.apk
RomManager.apk
Additionally, I uninstall the followings in my Nook Color but did not want to enforce on others.

Gallery3D -> Quickpic
Email -> K9-Mail
Clock -> Clock JB+
The widget is Sense Analog Clock.
Ahhh shoot. I went to try this ROM on my Nook while at work... so I only put the zips on my SD card... after rebooting to try and get to recovery... I can't boot to recovery or boot normally. I am going to need to boot off SD when I get home and have my spare SDs.
Question about GAPPS... why is it all the ROMs on my phone come with GAPPS if it's a licensing issue?
Also can you add a link to download of the GAPPS in the OP... I downloaded them from the CM website, but it would be nice to mention in the OP that people might want to get them.

I have added the link and clarified the installation instruction in the OP.
Well crap. After struggling last night for a few hours... I could never get this to boot for me, it would boot loop. I got back to stock CM 7.1 fine, then in trying to flash this over it... something happened and I can no longer turn on my Nook Color.
Not sure what to do now.

I am not sure how you managed to do this but Nook Color is almost impossible to brick. You should be able boot into recovery and restore the ROM you prefer. Start with plugging the power and follow the directions in the following guide. When you get into recovery don't forget to do a complete wipe first.
http://quinxy.com/guides/unofficial-clockworkmod-manual/
The section titled "Entering the Recover Console" is the part most useful.
If you choose to try this ROM again, don't flash the theme before booting once.

Well I definitely did that every time... so I probably shouldn't have been flashing the theme before. Should I also wait on GAPPS?
I have been doing full wipes. Wipe Data, Wipe Cache. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik, Wipe Battery Stats. Mounts > Format System, Format Boot.
Then flash.
I will try that guide tonight when I have time. It's definitely the first time I've managed to get it not to boot, and I'm really not sure how I did it.

Don't format BOOT... formatting system and data is fine, but you really want to avoid formatting boot.

Really? It's in every guide for full wipes from all the devs for the Incredible... I assumed it would be the same for my Nook Color, apparently not, huh?

Booting once before the theme is underlined in bold face in the OP but ... anyway
Yes, ideally and if you have the patience, waiting for flashing the GAPPS after first boot would be better.
So... it would appear I am fully bricked. Even plugging in the NC via USB to my computer won't turn it on. I should mention, when I saw it's bricked... I mean it won't power on at all.
I've Googled a few things, I can't seem to get it to do anything... that really sucks.

That would be my fault then for not reading the directions correctly. However, I think I did try it without the theme once and still bootlooped. Can't really try it again right, though.

I don't think that NC is bricked. Unplug from the power and try these. I am quoting from the link in the earlier post.
- Although your screen is dark, turn off your Nook Color (hold the power button down so long that the device shuts off make sure it is not plugged into your computer otherwise it will turn itself back on!)
-Press and hold the power and "N" buttons so long that the Nook Color turns itself on then after 8 - 10 seconds it will turn itself off.
- Press the power button just long enough to turn it back on.
- ClockworkMod Recovery will start

I've tried every combination of pressing power and the N button for 30 seconds at a time... nothing seems to happen.
What I need is the equivalent of a battery pull. I might look into that

I originally started porting ICS to my beloved nexus one the very same day google released the source back in November. I had very little knowledge and no experience porting android. It took 2 days to sort countless build errors and get it booting, only a few days later i was able to release my first alpha (where absolutely nothing worked) It has come a long way since then, with hundreds of hours invested on my part and undying support from this wonderful commutity, I am pleased to announce: as of 2.1.0p11 this rom is /almost/ stable. However it will remain in alpha/beta (whatever you want to call it) a while longer, but the majority of people will find this usable as a daily driver.
For those of you not following this thread. You may not know my nexus died. As in the NAND finally gave out ((bootloader) rbchk: Total 1191 bad blocks!!). And I was able to get a replacement on ebay for $142.50 USD. Paid for entirely with your donations! Thank you to everyone who donated (i can't appreciate it enough). I look forward to bringing you the latest and greatest Ice Cream Sandwich to your n1's.
I have spent many hours and sleepless nights on this. So if you like it please feel free to hit that donate button above that picture of me.

Short FAQ
Q:Screen wont come back on, the buttons light up but i have no screen?!
A: Try taking out your sdcard. If it works you need to reformat your sdcard and whatever you do dont use clockworkmod!
Q: Im getting lockups and have to pull the battery to restart?
A: Easiest way that seems to do the trick: Goto: Evervolv Toolbox -> Performance -> Processor -> change Min Freq to 384Mhz
A: Or: change the governor from ondemand to smartassv2

You must install blackrose hboot before flashing ICS. Instructions.
BlackRose
You must increase the size of the system partiton to fit ICS to at least 210MB
*4/14* I had previously recommended 210 system but am now changing that back to 220. The size of ICS and mainly Gapps is growing and with 210 system on the a2 release, after gapps there is only 6mb free space. That doesnt give me very much room to grow on and can cause problems with people who have bad blocks on the system partiton.
RECOMMENDED: System 220MB Cache 10MB Data 206MB Download
System 210 Cache 8 Userdata 218 Download
(or make your own with the Blackrose installer).
All past builds will work just fine on either layout 210 and 220
Future builds might not fit on 210 as of a2 it is pushing it.
If you are installing for the first time choose the 220mb system.
Flash:
Code:
fastboot flash hboot hboot_brcrust_220-10-206-ICS.nb0
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w
If it flashed correctly: after the 'reboot-bootloader' command you will see TexasICS on the second line (under blackrose)

GAPPS:
(latest are posted to mongoosehelix twitter page) or dl here 5-20-release (thanks TuSKan for the mirror)
Gapps are NOT included in the rom. Reasons for this is 1) smaller upload for me 2) Gapps seem to be the source of most peoples problems. This way you can flash whatever version or package you want/works best (or even make your own custom gapps package)

Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a5-passion (6/23)
main thing here is camcorder, native omx encoding is working but decoding is still broke so you can record videos but cant play them back. Issues: video is capped at 15fps so it is a little choppy, recorded video is rotated 90 degrees
usb tether support: not native, using the motorola usb app not included (push to /system/app then the toggle in settings will work) i'll probably never include this app in the build since it runs as a service and that bothers me

kernel rebuild with xz compressed, genlock update
much better multitouch experience (theomy)
camera preview works (kushdeck) barcode scanning (tested w/ google goggles) (panorama, video have issues, also there is a memory leak, leaving the camera app open for 2+min will cause OOM to kill the system server possible causing a reboot)

Evervolv-Perdo-2.1.0p11-passion (2/27)
Phone should not lockup anymore when rotating display. Landscape mode is still strange, status bar is rendered halfway off screen...but only when rotating right...going left its fine.
Moved to cayniarbs stock(ish) kernel with my kgsl commits and ksm/zram backported from 3.0
EVtoolbox: new menu 'performance' control zram(aka compcache) and ksm, both disabled by default. ksm will reduce memory overhead by 10-15mb with minimal cpu usage (0-1%). ive read that ksm likes to have swap (10% zram should be enough) but youll have to experiment and see. also added 'processor' menu (also from cm) to view/control cpu stats.
Apps2sd: support moving /data/data, (run 'a2sd install' again and choose y when asked about appdata) im still wary of how to handle wipes when appdata2sd is active. so ive added two functions to a2sd: 'nodatasd' which removes appdata2sd flag and optionally removes the appdata from sdcard and 'nosysdata' which removes only the system appdata (ie anything starting with com.android) from the sdcard
Browser: i revised hwcomposer. redering is faster < 1 to 2 secs max under heavy scrolling
Camera preview is still broke.
Devhost was broke while i was uploading this so everything is just up on the mirror site.

Evervolv-Perdo-2.1.0p9 (2/16)
whats new:
kernel update: 32bit color (fixes gradient backgrounds)
hwcomposer: rewrote from scratch for qsd8k. (main fix is screen off animation)
statusbar: new toolbox, settings button back to opening settings (swipe to change screens). notifications back to stock behavior. toolbox can even be turned off in evtoolbox
browser: slowed rendering, (fuzzy text takes a few seconds to clear up) is much faster now. (1-2 sec instead of 4-5)
known issues:
reboots: check here for initial workaround
removed omx libs due to build error (just use the ones from p8 if you really want them)
rotation still broke, seems to lockup the most on the home screen.
Code:
kgsl kgsl-3d0: |kgsl_mh_intrcallback| axi write error interrupt
and everything else that was broke in p8
updated bug list thanks mrhohoha

Evervolv-Perdo-2.1.0p8 (2/10)
Going forward with release. Nothing major changed since pre-p8. Still same major issues as outlined >here<. But its working good enough mainly releasing for those itching to try out chrome beta.
Whats new?
Massive kernel upgrade: misc wifi updates, fix ext 2/3 mountisg issues, add in call recording feature, updated kgsl (3d driver) to version 3.3 (cherry-picked partial upgrade to 3.7), other misc updates required for new kgsl driver. source is temporarily at https://github.com/drewis/tiamat-kernel/tree/wip9
Rom: now build with proper ICS OPENGL support (ie 100% hardware accelerated)(well more like 80-90% for now). I still have several issues to sort before hwa is working properly but this is a great start (imo). Screen off animation not working due to hwcomposer issue.
Notes:
This build is much less stable than p7 (or lower) but faster
You must turn off auto rotate in Display Settings or you will experience lockups that require a battery pull. (i know whats causing it but it will be a fairly difficult fix)
kernel build #119 which means i build the kernel 119 times to get this far, and that number is much much lower than the actual number of times i built the kernel before i got it booting and (mostly) working. Just something to think about, in terms of how much work it took to get this far
camera preview dont work but still takes pictures. also does not include rapmv78 newest fixes for panorama and barcode (didn't seem necessary to include them sinc camera preview doesnt work)
Gapps need to be flashed separetly.

Flashable zip: Evervolv-Perdo-2.1.0p2-passion-tbwake.zip - 124.1 MB
Evervolv-Perdo-2.1.0p2-passion
Init.d support.
Included my homebrew a2sd that just sets /sd-ext/app and app-private on the first boot (assuming you wiped with fastboot (actually i think it works without wiping as well but untested)) all the apps already on /sd-ext will then show up without further involvement. (if you wiped with recovery it probably removed the apps on /sd-ext. You can prevent this by going to advanced and only wiping cache and userdata.)
If you dont want that. remove /system/etc/init.d/05mountext and 10apps2sd then flash dark tremors.
Google TTS should now work (was missing a library)
SuperUser should be working.
Removed some extra fonts (saves like 2mb)
e2fsprogs and bash are actually included in this one.

New boot.img for 2.1.0p1
Includes init.d support -> tested and working with Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.3 Beta 4a
Removed genlock from kernel: Possible fix for lockups.
boot-12192011.img - 1.9 MB
EV-Alpha3 as flashable zips
Evervolv-Perdo-2.0.0p3-ITL41D-passion.zip - 101.1 MB
Merge in surfacetexture mod by rapmv78. No more "unable to dequeue native buffer" errors.
So this is basically a combination of rmcc, TwistedUmbrella, and rapmv78 egl mods.
It seems very smooth and usable therefore; im am releasing two builds one for blackrose(the one i posted), one for stock.
You might get a random offset error but it will still work just fine.
Evervolv Gapps:gapps_evervolv_ICS.zip - 26.0 MB
EV-Alpha2 ics-passion-ev-alpha2.tar.bz2 - 129.5 MB
Stock Evervolv with these additions:
Merged it TwistedUmbrella egl mods
Added gapps, Bexton's UMS with notifications, bash, htop, rsync, other cmdline goodies
Use N1 boot animation
Gallery works, Maps work.
Haven't had a single crash in 1 hour (make that 2 hours) of use so far. I even watched a video on youtube.
Might be the best one yet (let me know).
Proc usage while playing youtube video:
EV-Alpha1 ics-passion-ev-alpha1.tar.bz2 - 127.2 MB
I joined with the Evervolv team.
This is stock evervolv ics (with my passion device directories).
These are build without opengl but with the rmcc egl hacks and the old gralloc.
This is an eng build with strictmode disabled. So all 'extras' that come with eng are included. (except strict mode)
I added gapps. and Bextons usb mass storage app.
Tested sound and gps they work.
Other than that gallery crashes, boot animation is too small, maps won't load.
Pedlars notification widget and CMSettings aren't in this one.
Nothing drastically different from alpha13. Just a different build tree.
Alpha13r1 ics-passion-alpha13r1.tar.bz2 - 134.3 MB
Exactly the same as alpha13 but without opengl enabled.
Difference: Notably slower, but all the apps work and no crashes. This is much more usable than alpha13. Im gonna stop messing with opengl until we get a proper kernel.
Alpha13 ics-passion-alpha13.tar.bz2 - 131.4 MB
In my failure to bring real hardware accelaration; here's a little hack for you.
There is alot of hype floating around about hardware (gpu) acceleration. The truth is nobody with adreno gpu has it. They only have software acceleration. Some have gotten it to work better than others. Personally i have not put very much time into the 'software hacks' being used. Because heavy kernel mods need to be made to get proper gpu acceleration; on this I have spend nearly 40 hours on with no notable progress made. I'd say in total I have spent 200+ hours trying to make this rom work but it really isn't an easy task. This rom is still very unstable and won't ever work properly until we have proper gpu acceleration. For general purpose (ie. Calls, Messaging, Web Browsing, Music) it works fine, please dont expect more from it. Thanks for testing.
Includes latest from CM.
Ril has these options available in build.prop:
ro.telephony.ril.v3=signalstrength,skipbrokendatacall,facilitylock,datacall,icccardstatus
Only one that is enabled is signalstrength. You can try a combination of them an see if it fixes your data issues.
Fixed (from alpha12): Sound, GPS, Mobile signal, Enable opengl (w/ software hack)
Removed DTApps2sd since it won't work without init.d support.
Gallery keeps force closing. Don't know why.
Settings keep crashing. Don't know why.
Alpha12 ics-passion-alpha12.tar.bz2 - 123.0 MB
EDIT: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. Looks like sound is broken too. Looks like alpha10 is the best bet sofar. Only downhill from there.
EDIT2: err looks like you can push audio.primary.qsd8k and audio_policy.qsd8k to get sound back. (untested)
EDIT3: I was wondering why system size was so much smaller lol.
DISABLE OPENGL: The HWA hack just sucks too much.
Use N1 stock bootanimation. It's cooler. (Oh, and I don't care what you think)
set config_hspa_data_distinguishable to true (Get an H instead of 3g)(I like it more)
Add some overlay items from crespo
Add some optimization cc flags
There were a couple ril changes to cm, maybe this will fix your data issues?
It seems Gallery will not work unless opengl is enabled (regardless of dalvik heap size)
Add htop, powertop, nano, vim, e2fsprogs (when using adb shell type bash to get them to work)
Remove Maps: So you can install the market version.
GPS is broke. It couldn't get it to build so just copied gps.mahmahi from previous build but that didnt work. I'll sort it out later. If you need gps dont upgrade.
Added Darktremor's Apps2sd modified for native bash support (in xbin). But it is not working. /sd-ext is not being mounted. It wont execute at runtime. The way it is set up. init.rc calls etc/init.local.rc calls bin/sysinit calls xbin/run-parts which calls etc/init.d/05mountsd now for somereason 05mountsd is not installed as executable even though it is executable in my out folder. changing 05mountsd to executable afterward still doesnt work. maybe someone can help me out here. my thought is init.d isn't setup properly. Also i would like to keep sysinit (or run-parts) being called from init.local.rc to keep init.rc and init.mahimahi.rc cleaner.
Alpha11 ics-passion-alpha11.tar.bz2 - 130.0 MB Alpha11 is provided out of courtesy and is not supported my me complains about it will be ignored.
system img is ~210MB
aosp apps updated to r1.2
Turn off lockscreen/touchscreen sounds
Decrease animaition by 50% (forgot to change back when added opengl)(increase till your hearts content)
Increase pointer speed to 100 (clicking still doesnt work but hey fast cursor lol)
Update to wpa_supplicant 8 (fixes wifi icon)
Enable OPENGL: Pulled HWA fixes from preludedrew's (evervolv) repo. (NOTE: not real HWA but better)(May exerience significant battery drain)
Update adreno blobs from inc evervolv repo
**W/HardwareRenderer( 1557): Mountain View, we've had a problem here. Switching back to software rendering.**
Add Pedlar's CMSettings (experimental WIP) (has 2 icons don't ***** about it)
Add bash,nano,vim,ncurses,ssh,rsync
Alpha10 Link
Added:
SHA256 crypto to kernel
fuse module to system (for future extended data on sdcard)
Camera app (camera still broke)
Stk
TitaniumBackup
LatinImeDictionary
GoogleCalendar (1st in appdrawer is AOSP if sync doesn't work for you just remove Calendar.apk and use CalendarGoogle.apk)
FileManager (from CM)
**Pedlar's notification power widget (still in WIP stage) Install this to allow configuration.
Resized bootanimation
Correct location/name of some permission files
Removed:
qralloc.qsd8k (slows down UI on not HWAccel builds)(Also removed in Alpha9)
Alpha9 Link
First taste of CM9
Kernel: Kanged pershoots with netstats ported by me from teamhacksung.
Thanks texasice, great work! Will test now. To clarify, is the partition layout mandatory? I have blackrose and can change it myself, but any rationale on this 220/16/200 layout in particular would be helpful.

Any system partition with 200MB or more will work [But the ramdisk is setup for the sys220/cache16/data200 it should still work with other layouts though]

I removed gralloc from this build so it is much faster than alpha8. Texting is fine for my slow fingers
So what is to become of the stock Rom?

Nexus One - Tapatalk
this is exciting.
And my N1 lives again. This is awesome.
I sometimes do get frustrated by lack of processor and memory. but I just can't seem to upgrade from my N1. Maybe if I get ICS on my N1 I might not have to.

Thats the idea lol. If i could afford a new phone i would get a a galaxy nexus. But im poor so nexus one gets all my love
Even without hardware accel, alpha 9 feels pretty usable.
Thanks for your efforts - great work!
If do this...does it mean that changing Roms is not as simple as just going into recovery and flashing the ROM? Does it take more steps like changing the partition again?
Reserved Spot for later =D

Simply no. You have a couple options. 1 you can flash the cm7 i built and keep the my new repartitioned hboot. (This is where you need the recovery i provided to flash the cm gapps) 2. You can reflash the 'standard' blackrose hboot and put any rom you want on it. (Without installing my recovery)
Either way blackrose is mandatory. System img is ~192mb so it is too big for stock hboot. So the system partition needs to be grown.
Looks good!
But I will have to wait a little longer to dust off my N1 to try this, because I have a broken power button so I need trackball wake!

I assume you can make CM9 yourself.
Maybe you are the last person to try to use CM9 with blackrose.
Right?
I don't know why you hate blackrose
It's not possible. System apps MUST be on NAND. Period.
Sorry if im a bit rougth but you have to realize that google banned the ICS for N1 due the small system partition. They dont want to upgrade HBOOT because is so dangerous to do via OTA.

- Bluetooth headset in calls
- Some problems with audio codec settings, but generally it should work
- Impossible to shut down phone in android, only restart

Maybe something else, what i forgot
SUPPORT
You get none. Zero. Zip. We obligate ourselves to providing nothing further. You are on your own and will have to help each other via this thread. This is provided “as-is”, and if you don’t like it, use Bada or other releases.
We basically lack time to give full dedication to this rom, and we’re looking for skilled devs who know the Android, and/or other things that might be relevant.
Please join us on IRC: some people are on #badadroid (freenode).
FIRST INSTALLATION
Bada 2.0 is required
Enter Bada Settings->General->Memory and make sure you have at least:
370MB of free "System" memory
160MB of free "User" memory
400MB of free "Applications" memory
Download BOOTFILES, armlinux_boot for your device:
for 8500:
http://yadi.sk/d/W4RjnjQRC6TfP
http://yadi.sk/d/Yz7_dfpkC6TkC
for 8530
http://yadi.sk/d/kxJ0CZ20C7AKF
http://yadi.sk/d/zqzWZ9LmC7AJA
(please pay attention if it's S8500 or S8530 BOOTFILES and FOTA you're choosing!):
Download ROM: http://www.multiupload.nl/HYU95BQ6D6
Start Bada.
Extract zImage from zip and copy it to the Bada's User partition (the one about 390MB big).
Copy whole .zip to the Bada's User partition.
Flash BOOTFILES and FOTA using Multiloader.
Reboot the phone holding Power and Call key.
FOTA set of red messages should appear, after about 15seconds Badadroid logo shows up.
Be patient, first bootup will keep unresponsible on Badadroid logo for up to 5 minutes.
CWM Recovery starts, pick:
- install zip from sdcard
- choose zip from sdcard
- cm-10.1-wave-<release id>.zip
- Yes - install
Reboot holding the Power key
You can remove installation .zip from the User partition from Android level by connecting through USB in MTP mode.
Do not remove zImage file.
Normal bootup is available using Power+Call keys
CWM Recovery mode is available using Power+Volume Up keys
CWM Flashing does overwrite zImage. So every next update you can just flash .zip through CWM.

Please attach logcat and dmesg dump in your bug report. Dmesg should contain messages from both - bootup and issue occuring (you can't dump it 1 hour after bootup, rather 2 minutes after)
How to dump logs - Google for "android logcat dmesg" Or... whatever, here's one of 3204109 methods available.
In the Terminal Emulator enter:
"su"
Accept request for SuperUser access.
"dmesg > /storage/sdcard1/dmesg.txt"
"logcat -b system -b radio -b events -b main -d -f /storage/sdcard1/logcat.txt *:V"
"logcat -b radio -d -f /storage/sdcard1/radiolog.txt *:V"
Download them from phone, archive and upload them.
Privacy warning: Your logcat might contain sensitive information like your IMEI, IMSI, cell stations you were nearby, numbers you called and got calls from and SMS sent and received. If you don't want to publish this info - send them privately to one of developers.

If the Badadroid is restarting before you're able to catch any log:
Download http://goo.im/devs/Rebellos/wave/bterm.exe
Try to start kernel normally, when you see Badadroid logo start holding the middle key pressed. Keep the middle key pressed until phone restarts and shows the text: FOTA DOWNLOAD MODE & bTerm
Connect phone to PC.
Start bterm.exe
Type 4 commands:
Code:
open
dumpram 0x4FF00000 0x100000
close
exit
There should appear file called dump_ram_0x4FF00000.0x00100000.bin - pack it and attach it to your bug report.

HOW TO BUILD
I do recommend perfect tutorial by fattire: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19f7Z1rxJHa5grNlNFSkh7hQ0LmDOuPdKMQUg8HFiyzs/edit?hl=en_US
Of course you have to init with -b cm-10.1 and modify some steps.
local manifest to use: https://raw.github.com/Badadroid/android_wave_local_manifest/cm-10.1/local_manifest.xm
I do it like this:
Code:
cd ~
mkdir wave
cd wave
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b cm-10.1
cd .repo
wget [url]https://raw.github.com/Badadroid/android_wave_local_manifest/cm-10.1/local_manifest.xml[/url]
cd ..
repo sync -j8
cd vendor/cm/
./get-prebuilts
cd ../../
. build/envsetup.sh
brunch wave
device name is wave so the build invocation can be brunch wave
good job
you are amazing...:good::good:
I was hoped to my phone again
i will be glad, if some one will make screenshots and/or video review, i will add it in OP
disappointment :'(

If you used CM10 Rebellos ROM you don't need check memory, just flash .zip via recovery and full wipe (all data will be deleted in android)
If not, try factory reset or reflash bada(in all cases you will lost all data in bada)

ROM2SD/DATA2SD USERS PLEASE READ!
ROM2SD only works if you have ZOMBI-POP, ZOMBi-X, CROMBi-kk, CROMi-X or miniC flashed on internal with a THATv10+ kernel. Just choose ROM2SD in the installer of ZOMBi-POP to flash it to ROM2SD and the installer will do the rest.
- Install ZOMBi-POP and choose ROM2SD or DATA2SD install
The ROM2SD1.zip below is only needed if you need to switch your recovery to between normal and rom2sd mode. For Example you want to backup or restore a rom2sd installation. Flash once to go rom2sd and flash again to go back to normal. A reboot always puts you back to normal. Thanks to _that!

Once your see the flashing RCK icon, press [volume up] to select. If another icon is flashing use [volume down] to move between icons.
3. Using your recovery make a Nandroid Backup of your current setup
4. Select install and navigate to where you saved your ROM zip file.
5. Choose the ZOMBi-POP zip file and follow the on screen prompts to customize your installation.
6. Reboot and enjoy.
Using GParted to setup a micro SD for ROM2SD or DATA2SD!
First and foremost - DO NOT USE MINI TOOL!
Formatting a micro sd card for ROM2SD
Note for DATA2SD just do one partition in stead of 2
We will be using a GParted Live boot USB and a FAST good quality micro sd like a Sandisk or Samsung Class 10 - SDHC/SDXC UHS-1 card with read speed of at least 20MB/S. If you have a cheap chinese eBay card don't bother - they are not good enough.
You will also need a USB Stick with at least 1GB size. Note this process formats the USB disk so don't keep any important files on it. It will also wipe your micro sd so make sure you are prepared.
1. Go to the link below and download the GParted Live CD/USB/HD/PXE Bootable Image and save it somewhere you remember
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
2. Download Linux Live USB Creator and install it
http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
3. Fire up LiLi USB Creator:
a. Choose your USB key - I,e, the drive letter for your USB (not sd card)
b. Choose your GParted iso image for the source
c. Choose the check box to Format Key in FAT32 and hide files
d. Click the lightning bolt to create
4. Now you have a bootable disk you need to boot from it. You may need to alter you BIOS Settings on your PC to boot from a USB Stick but mine did it without messing.
5. Insert your micro SD card into an SD Card adapter and insert into PC
6. Boot into GParted
7. Choose Gparted Live <Enter>
8. Don’t touch keymap <Enter>
9. Languge <Enter>
10. Start Gparted Automatically
11. Change device to your micro sd )it will default to you hard disk - hda– mine is /dev/sdc
12. Delete all existing partitions
For a 64GB card: (resize as needed but /system doesn't need to be bigger than 1GB)
13. Create new, always select primary: do this 3 times.
14. FAT 32 : Size 16GB – this will be /dev/sdc1 in gparted and will be your sdcard for storage in Android
15. EXT4 : Size 42GB – this will be /dev/sdc2 in gparted and will be your /data partition in Android
16. EXT4 : Size 1GB – this will be /dev/sdc3 in gparted and will be your /system partition in Android (not needed for data2sd)
Apply, wait until it finishes and then reboot. Remember to remove the usb stick
*Images stolen from elsewhere as I couldn’t get it to save mine
Now you are ready to install ROM2SD. Note if you want to use DATA2SD then only do 2 partitions 1x FAT32 and 1x larger EXT4
Then reinstall ZOMBi-POP but this time choose the ROM2SD / DATA2SD option
Reserved
All,
The ROM is still in BETA and by flashing it you are helping the BETA Testing process
It may still have some bugs, spontaneously reboot, drain the battery faster or heat up a bit. The aim is to make it better and fix them.
If you find a bug and want to report it here please post a logcat (after it occurred) with a description of what you were doing at the time and the rough timing in the logcat to look at (these things get huge!).
You can also post a dmesg which is the kernel boot logs and can indicate issues with data corruption or hardware.
If you get a reboot then please post a last_kmsg from the /proc folder.
How to get a logcat
How to get useful logs
Thank you!!

UPGRADE FROM STOCK BOOTLODER
This may help
Starting from a stock bootloader V 10.4.2.18
What you will need
Woking fastboot & adb / SDcard optional
TWRP for a 201 = twrp_tf201t.blob
TWRP for the 300 = twrp_tf300t.blob
HairyBean BL & TWRP: This is effectively turn your 201 into a 300 <---- which is a flashable zip inside the zip that you downloasd
All 3 of the above file are in a zip in the Download section @ the top of every page of the thread ...... THIS ZIP IS NOT FLASHABLE...Your must unzip it to get to the real files !!! The name of this zip is
upgrade_tf201_to_tf300t.zip
foo 201 ROM zip
A fully charged tablet
All the above files in the same directory as your fastboot.exe (if using windows) In your home folder on linux....
The process
Lets start with the TWRP recovery for the 201, let flash it with fastboot...
Power your tablet off and with the [ VOL DOWN & POWER ] buttons boot the tablet into the bootloader
Once there [ VOL DOWN ] untill the green box is on the USB ICON then [ VOL UP ] to select fastboot
Let make sure your PC can see your tablet with this command.
Code:
fastboot devices:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp_tf201t.blob
Then
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot-bootloader
[ VOL UP ] ON RCK to enter recovery
Once in TWRP check to see if adb is working...
Code:
adb devices
Ok now that we know that is working let go ahead and push the HairyBean BL onto the tablet
Code:
adb push HairyBean_Bootloader_TWRP2.5.zip /sdcard
Now under the install tab in TWRP fine the folder and flash it....
reboot once it has fishined..If ask to install SuperUser say NO..........
LET THE BLUE BAR FILL !!!!!!!!! Once it has finished it will reboot into Hairybean TWRP....
Once booted into recovery, run this command to boot into fastboot
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
You will see that the USB icon is missing now, this is good... If you still see the USB icon DON'T go to the next step
Now lets flash TWRP recovery
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp.blob
Once that has finished let reboot into bootloader
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot-bootloader
Now enter recovery....
Make sure its verison 2.7.1.0
Go to Wipe////Format Data////Type yes
This can take up to 90 mins to format
DO NOT INTERRUPT THE FORMAT !!!!!!!
Now lets push foo.zip onto your tab
Code:
adb push foo.zip /sdcard
Find it under the install tab and flash it..
REBOOT into android, first boot can take up to 15 minutes

Could someone please post step by step tutorial how to install this rom?
I have a cm11 unofficial rom/ android cardhu-user bootloader 1.00e released by ww_epad- 10.4.2.15-20120917 A03
and cwm rck v6.0.5.0
when i install this rom it just boots up to screen with penguins and after a while reboots
Sneaky bugger
Thank you very much team!!!!!
I would very much like to test out your rom, but there seems to be a problem with the links for the twrp and cwm recoveries provided by you. Clicking them leads me nowhere. I seem not to be able to find the proper twrp recovery 2.8 for our device. Could you please repost the links? Thank you very much
I am running Lollipop with my beloved Prime....:victory:
Have been lurking this fora and have been running Omni 4.4.4 for a while.
Took the step to this beauty....
- The default Omni kernel is broken with wifi
-Flashed with the Grimlock option but it messes up partition??? Low internal space.
- Wiped a factory reset and it works.....
Playing around but no power left, must charge....

if you look at the first few lines from the OP, you will see that you are apparently on the wrong bootloader. you need the Hairybean JB 4.2.1 bootloader. you can find that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2407248 you also need to upgrade/update your recovery. once you do those things, then you can flash this. (i'm surprised you haven't softbricked...)

Hi, Josh don´t know, what I did (what went) wrong but I´ve installed the Zombi-pop about week ago, bud I had some issues with some apps stability and reboots, and needed tablet for daily use so I ve restored nandroid of 4.4.
This weekend I do have some mor time so I´ve did a clean install of Zombi-pop and got a message about low memory space. Don´t know why - installed Zombi pop twice before without hiccups - first with your+ _that´s overclocked kernel , second time with your + sbdags´es kernel - both ok. This time with hardslog´s 5.0 linaro kernel I got the low memory message... any clue???? THX 4 answer. Nandroid backup of 4.4 . is OK again... Maybe too much gapps installed - I knoow KatKiss 5.0 had that problem????

You should go settings/storage and click clean cache memory then reboot your prime
Same thing happens when clean dalvik cache and cache from twrp on katkiss 5.0
Could somebody please tell me where I can find Twrp 2.8? When checking their website I can only find 2.6 for our device....
