OK so i was going to log into google on a computer to access Play and I saw the ad for the Nexus 7 and I read more about it and learned that it will come with android 4.1 and wanted to see if the Nook Tablet will have that abilty since the hardware specs are relatively close together. What I would like to know is if it will be coming out in CM9 for Nook Tablet or simply in a whole new CM or if it will come out at all? Thanks if you devs can let me know or if you guys will need to get a Nexus 7 first to see if you can and then just keep me updated from there.

The hardware spec aren't actually that close. We may see something, but I wouldn't expect anything yet. Keep in mind the source hasn't been released so no one can really work with it until then. Watch the dev section and maybe you'll see it pop up. Still there is work to be done before ICS is even fully functioning.
The hardware specs are not really that close at all. The Nexus 7 has Tegra 3, as the Nook has OMAP4430. Only thing similar is the IPS screen, which really don't share that many bonds.
Jelly Beans source will be released mid July.
Until then nothing can be done to have it on any platform minus leaked GNex.
And mamifsidtect having the device have nothing to do with developing, for that source code is needed.
Jelly Bean is more that doable on our platform, we just need more developers for faster porting.
Now that we've seen that the Kindle Fire is getting Jelly Bean...does anybody still consider it impossible to port 4.1 to the Nook Tablet? (Kidle Fire's specs are actually quite close if not the same as the NT)
Did you look at the thread right below this one? Or check the Development subforum? At all? Haha it's here!

Lately there are XBMC builds released to work on many android devices, Unfortunately they only work on ARM architecture. is there anybody out there who can make it work on Google tv (x86 architecture).

This doesn't work with ARM Gtv boxes either. Gtv does not support NDK apps which is how XBMC was coded, so unless Gtv starts supporting that it won't matter if it works on x86 or ARM because it won't work on Gtv.
I have a Co-Star which is ARM and I didn't know this until after I purchased it, I am very disappointed. What we need is an Android TV ROM created that is ICS or JB!

Found this , maybe it can help someone have a break through
I'm a Android phone user and love it, but I have a AppleTV with XBMC on it and love love love it even more. I so want to have my phone work with my TV (XBMC) but unfortunately it only half works with the XBMC remote. I so want to stay away from apple beyond this, but I keep getting pulled back to it due to airplay. If only this could be made to work and have a working (like) airplay then I would be totally Android.

Try Android Transporter. I think it was built to fill that need.

Thanks, I will look into it.
Hello!
I've stop using my Atrix since about 3 months ago, so I'm no longer in the game.
Any suggestions to what ROM should be used if one wanted to use XBMC only?
The phone will be constantly plugged in and will always have power. It would be great if the ROM supported video mirroring with hd playback and good decoding.
Any suggestions?
I've used it on both CM7 and CM10. Personally, I didn't notice a difference. I did not try playing anything as I've no media on my phone, but was able to load navi-x and stream stuff fine. It was slow, but I think that was due to it being in beta.
I'm not sure, but I don't remember seeing "Audio over HDMI" option in CM7... It's nice if you have a home theater and want sound coming from speaker system and not just the TV.
Edit: As a side note, it was a pain to work with the interface on such a small screen. Have you considered something like raspberry pi and selling/donating the Atrix?

well, I have considered selling it, but the digitizer has a dead stripe, so the phone doesn't really have any value. The raspberry pi is the next logical step if this doesn't work out!
When I retire my Atrix, I will most likely turn it into a pseudo laptop since I bought a lapdock. They're pretty cheap, have you considered that alternative?

I have a lapdock from the states, but I find it basically useless, since I haven't gotten swedish keyboard layout to work on it.

I have exactly the same scenario. I have an Atrix , unrooted, but the screen no longer works and its basically redundant. I have the smart dock and ideally would like too use it as a dedicated media player with xBMC and a remote, leaving it connected to my TV at all times.
Would appreciate it if you could share any success you have in setting this up.
Thanks!
any progress?
I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my atrix.
Have you had any success using yours as an xbmc machine or did you scrap it for a pi?
I would also like to make my atrix into a dedicated XBMC box. I have a HD dock and would like to use it with the remote. I attempted to install the newly released xbmc for android on a gingerbread rom (Neutrino). I got a message that xbmc is not compatible with my device. I assume that it can work with an ics or jb rom. It works on my galaxy nexus. Any suggestions on which one would have the best support for hdmi output and hd dock?
I have CM10 Epinter JB and xbmc works on my phone. I have to open my player first and then xbmc app.

cool, source?
Canonical today announced ubuntu for tablets which gives more clarity about their plans for the whole eco system. It will be available the same day as they release the phone version for galaxy nexus and nexus 4, february 21. The cool thing here is IMO this:
http://youtu.be/h384z7Ph0gU?t=5m4s
Obviously they show this with the asus padphone in mind but then they show how it also will work as a desktop OS, and further on a media center. So Ubuntu will have 4 different "skins" depending on the usage situation. Imagine the S3 with ubuntu in combination with MHL/allshare + bluetooth keyboard and mouse or most preferably the official multimedia dock giving you USBOTG and MHL simultaneously and this finally will be able to make the S3 (and other phones) the one-device-to-rule-them-all that I've been hoping for since I got it in june.
What I don't know is if there will be problematic with the exynos sources not available, can anyone shed some light on this?
Well I got excited when I saw XBMC on android a week ago and I know its been out for awhile but it does not load on my Google TV (Sony GSZ-GT1) surprise surprise. Nothing ever loads on this.
My question is though, I see that it works on almost any android that is above 4.0. I was thinking about buying a little cheap android stick from my Chinese friends over at DX but was curious if anyone saw an issue as to why it wouldn't run on a generic device? The device I am looking at is 4.2.2 so it should run without questions right?
