[Q] New ICS Camera problem - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

There seems to be a problem with my G-Note after with the new ICS. At first, I was on the OnlyOne Rom. That rom was good and my daily for little over a month. So when the new update came out i wanted to try the Debloated one of course. but after I had flashed it. I noticed the Camera wasn't working. It say "Warning: Camera failed" and so i went into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik, still no go.
So i decided to go back to stock with stock modem, and do the update through kies. After all that. camera still doesn't work. Please help me. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

You've tried Factory Reset? There could be various reasons for camera fail.
If factory reset doesn't work. If could be location error ie turn off your GPS tag. Or if you set your save destination to your external memory, take out your memory card and check if there's any trouble. Or you can reset your flash count and then send your note to Samsung service center.

I had the same thing happen on my skyrocket. Said camera failed. On my infuse id get a forceclose here and there. Called and replaced it.

[Q] WiFi suddenly stopped working

I've tried it all folks. New kernels, factory reset, different radios, different ROMs. Every-thing. The WiFi will turn on for a quick second and I will get an error message "Unable to scan for networks" and then the Wifi will just turn on and off on and off over and over again. I've even deleted the files in the data/dhcp and data/wifi folders. Rebooted, still same issue. I've deleted the files and flashed a kernel and rebooted, still same issue.
Of course I am still in contract and will have to purchase a new phone outright from Verizon if I can't get this issue resolved......
I don't know what else to do here.....
Did you try formatting data and system before installing a new rom from recovery? If that doesn't work i would say its a hardware issue. You're not restoring system data with any backup programs are you?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I've wiped pretty much everything known to man on the phone. The ROM installs are all "fresh" I haven't tried to install any APPS on the phone. Just wipe everything, factory reset / Dalvik Cache, all of it... install fresh ROM. Try to turn on Wifi, phone boot loops. No matter what ROM I install, still same issue with Wifi / boot looping.
Well guess we can close this out. I went out and paid full boat for a Samsung Nexus since I couldn't fix this issue.
I'd like to reopen this topic. I had been running Bamf Forever 1.10, but last night I decided to try another ROM because it's been running really slow for some reason.
Did a wipe (factory reset, Dalvik cache) and installed Thunderstick. Now WiFi is broken -- the exact same problem as described in the original post. I tried flashing a new kernel and new radios, and cannot get WiFi to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will flashing back to stock ROM/unrooting help?
Thanks!
@ajoesq I had the same problem when i installed thunderstick thru boot manager. My wifi stopped and I could get it going on my phone rom. So i booted back into thunderstick and wifi was working. Booted back to hte phone rom then into recovery and then i flashed my phone rom again without wiping or anything (Thunbershed V1.2) and it worked fine. wifi started agian.

Run a logcat when you try to turn wifi on. Put the output on pastebin.com and post the link. This might tell us what the problem is.
I'd make sure that the radio(s) were at least at the minimum of what the ROM called for.

[Q] Messaging Has Unfortunately Stopped?

Sup,
So, I flashed mutliple custom ROM's when I got this device like any other crack-flasher would but I then realised I much prefer it to be running stock with root access until an AOSP ROM comes along.
So I came from Omega 4.0 to stock LE8 in the UK, ever since I've flashed this stock ROM (Which is odexed) I keep getting the message "Sorry, messaging has unfortunately stopped" every time I open the app. I've tried wiping data/cache/dalvik and flashing in Odin again, same issues. I then went back to another custom ROM (HyperGalaxy) then went back to stock to test, still the same.
I have also tested an inverted AOSP 4.0.4 Mms app which worked on Omega, but didn't work on stock (Got the same message)
Data of the Messaging app has been wiped, i've disabled the app, rebooted, enabled again, still the same issues.
I've searched and I found 2 other threads with the same thing, but noone has been helpful enough yet.
It seems like the phone still thinks its running a Deodexed ROM but I need to get it back to full working order since I need to text something.
Any help is appreciated.

Probably didn't make it clear enough, I did that already. 3 times to be exact.
i have the same issue. Need help.
i get this message with multiple apps.
all of them are standard run of the mill things like browser, messages, video player. My phone is only a week old and completely stock
some real bugs in this phone still that need sorting asap. poor effort by samsung really
Same issue here, has anyone found a fix for it yet?
I only encounter this in hyper x rom. So far so good in omega
Ok,I had this issue when I tried to install different firmware and modems using Mobile Odin. It fully resolved when I flashed back the official UK firmware and modem (le8) using normal desktop Odin. No force closes whatsoever since. Incidently, I'm now using LE9 firmware with UK CSC, rooted, with no issues at all. I used chainfires recovery, then flashed superuser to root.
Hope this helps.

All of my sensors are dead. All radios work fine. Halp.

Hello friends I'm a long time reader of these forums and this is the first time I've ever posted anything. I have a weird problem where all of my sensors recently were killed: proximity, ambient light, gyroscope, gravity sensor, you name it. But all of my radios work. I have full 4G 3G full WiFi and Bluetooth GPS etc. All of these work still. The few roms I had, I uninstalled them. I have since wiped my phone numerous times. I reinstalled via Odin the original stock rom for Galaxy s4. I have done basically everything else that could possibly think of. Has anyone experienced this with the S4 before? perhaps they might have some suggestions. Until then not sure what I can do thanks for reading.
Here are the things which I have previoisly installed: Hyperdrive RL1, followed by RL3.1 and then RL4. While on 4, I flashed the 3minit framewirk [prime suspect at this point] as well as installing the KT kernel. Should I be more aggressive with the wipes I do? I usually wipe bata, cache, and davlik. Should I try wiping system as well, or any other things within TWRP? I thought reinstalling stock via Odin was a "cure-all".
TL;DR After flashing a few roms, mods, and a single kernel, OP has lost all sensors on the S4. All radios remain functional. Odin flash to stock ROM did not fix.
Attached is screenshot of CPUZ. And another screenshot from my nexus for comparison.
[Edit: I spell good]

I'm gonna flash the whole darn thing tonight, system, cache, internal, davlik, etc. I hope I did not somehow mess up the hardware... the symptoms may lead to that, but I treat this phone like... a holy object-i.e. no drops/soils, etc. So I can't imagine it's that.
I also have not been able to find any matching problems... there are one or two posts from last year in regards to someone's nexus 7 sensors taking a dive, but that guy dropped his.
Anyway, I'll update this tonight if I ever get the sensors back online.
[Leaving the device powered off, no battery for an hour didn't reset anything. Another random question: should I be removing the 4G SIM card while flashing and while doing an Odin install?]

Still no luck. I wiped everything I could, Davlik, Cashe, Data, System, Secure... I then re-installed the stock ROM via ODIN, did factory restore, ETC. Still no sensors.
My last resort is to send it to Samsung, but that's lame. I bought it off contract new less than 3 weeks ago. Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps or advice would be much appreciated.

[Q] Only pen works after installing TWRP

I purchased an AT&T SGH-i717 and was told everything worked. When I checked it out, everything seemed fine too. After using it for a couple hours I realized it just seemed to reboot at random. I rebooted into recovery and did a factory reset and wiped the cache. After rebooting it...it would get stuck at the AT&T screen. I then installed the latest stock rom 4.4.2 using Odin and it booted up fine but I got the no sim card error. I put in an AT&T sim card and rebooted but got a sim not provisioned error. I then tried a T-Mobile card and I didn't get the error and it showed signal bars but when I tried to dial it said emergency calls only. I tried a Verizon sim card just to see what kind of error I would get but it was just the same as the T-Mobile sim. I thought it might a corrupted rom so I tried installing the latest nightly CyanogenMod using CWM but got error status 7. I then tried various custom and stock roms including AOKP, BeanStalk, and several different versions of CyanogenMod but always got the same error status 7 msg. I then came across a forum posts stating that CWM no longer works for the SGH-i717. I downloaded the latest TWRP touch recovery and was able install the latest stable CyanogenMod but it would not boot past the animated CyanogenMod logo even after sitting for over an hour. At that point I gave up and decided to just go back to the stock rom. I rebooted into TWRP and the slide to unlock would not work anymore. I had to install CWM using Odin which allowed me to flash back to the stock 4.4.2 rom. After doing another factory reset and wiping the cache then rebooting...the touch screen stopped working. I then flashed it back to the stock 4.0.4 rom but the touch screen still does not work. While trying to figure out what happened I realized the pen still works and touch screen buttons on the bottom but thats it. Also the pen only works on the screen and not on the touch screen buttons. I've been messing with this for 3 days and will probably just sell it for parts but wanted to post this problem so if anyone else had this problem they would know what I've already tried. I did also take apart the phone and clean the connections but that didn't help either.
If anyone has a suggestion for something I haven't tried...please let me know. My last attempt will be install the Padawan JB rom from this post:

Right out of tge gate, there is no stock 4.4.2 for this device. Not official anyway. 4.1.2 is official OS.
Status 7 means your recovery needs updating.
CWM does work and the newest CWM touch is just dandy.
I would try going all the way back. You need to be totally clean.
Factory
Cache
Davlik
Format
Go to Kies and go with emergency firmware recovery.
Get back to stock and see what is working.
Clean clean clean, the best way for anyone to help you. You would be at the best starting point.
Maybe do a little reading as many of your issues have been documented and solved. None of them are major.
Start from scratch and folks can get you running again.

Thanks for replying...I hadn't used Kies in awhile becuase it never seemed to work right. I downloaded the latest version and it looks like they made a lot of improvements. I did the factory restore and wiped the cache then installed the latest firmware thru Kies. Everything seemed to work fine but after rebooting the touch screen doesn't work at all, not even with the pen. The touch screen buttons seem to still work but its stuck at the AT&T Ready2go screen because I can't hit cancel or get started buttons.
Thanks

well my friend, you had the phone apart once already, I am no expert, but my guess is this is no software issue. maybe some connections came loose. in my time here, I have not come across this issue. I do not have the brain pan nor the courage to take my phone apart.
good luck to you.
maybe someone else will mosey on by.

My guess is the digitizer has gone bad if odin &/or kies can't fix the issue at hand.

[Q] Cannot Install new ROM, Status 7 error

So the other day my S3 gave up the ghost, and developed the hard-brick "QHSUSB_DLOAD" error. I have insurance so I was overnighted a new phone, and am sending the old one away. I believe this was related to a long-term power button issue I was having, perhaps a virus, or something. I had not changed anything to the ROM I was using since about October, and the issue just happened now in May.
At any rate, the new S3 I received is an MJB version, Android 4.3, Knox and all that other good stuff. After several failed attempts, I found a method to root this phone and disable Knox. The Warranty Bit is already tripped, so clearly I'm not sending this phone back until it hard bricks as well. I am trying to install the StockMOD ROM that is very popular, however I am being plagued by problem after problem.
I was able to flash a version of CWM Recovery onto my phone, but it was too old and couldn't mount any of the folders. Using ROM Manager, I was able to flash an update to my Recovery, and now it mounts and views all folders properly. However, when I go to install the StockMOD ROM, I continuously get a Status 7 error, something about "expects 5 args, got 3." I wiped the data, cache, and Dalvik, but kept getting this error. So, I had to recover my backup of stock, which didn't go well either. Once my backup was installed, all of my apps kept crashing. Gapps, ROM Manager, everything kept giving me constant FC errors. I had to wipe my data, cache, and Dalvik again and go back to factory default, and reinitialize the phone. Luckily I haven't installed anything of importance on here yet.
A quick search through here states that I need to use TWRP as my Recovery. I've flashed TWRP several times, first using the 2.6... version and then the most recent 2.7.0.0 version, and neither of these will mount any of my folders. It just gives me a litany of errors trying to mount the various locations. I've done Fix Permissions and everything else, TWRP will just NOT mount anything. Other folks say I need the latest PhilZ Recovery. I've downloaded the latest PhilZ Touch 6 and flashed it via Odin. It is giving me the same errors as regular CWM, Status 7, "expecting 5 args, got 3."
I don't know what else to do. My S3 that ran Android 4.0 was so much easier. I had that thing rooted and running a TW based ROM with Nova launcher in about 30 minutes. This phone has been a disaster since I turned it on. I'm just trying to get a 4.3 TW based ROM. I like the Samsung Camera, Calendar, Clock, Messaging, and Contacts apps far better than AOSP versions. But I also want much more customization to my notification drawer toggles. Stock TW doesn't have the toggles I use frequently like the data toggle as well as the torch toggle.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, because unlike a lot of folks out there, once I find a ROM I like, I stick with it. I'm not constantly updating, changing, or searching for the newest version of Android. There's nothing wrong with that, it just isn't my cup of tea. So does anyone know what I need to do? At this point, I'm about to just give up and use Nova over top of rooted stock TW and call it a day.
Thanks!

Everything is stock except the recovery. I'm using CWM 6.0.4.7 with PhilZ Touch 6. I'm still using the stock TW 4.3 ROM that shipped with the phone. The only exception is that I'm rooted now.
I suggest you to go back to a 4.1 official stock rom with odin to be sure to have no more issue.
This can help you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/restore-to-stock-rom-galaxy-s3-i9300-t2187081
Also, don't forget to backup your apps with titanium backup and all your sms :good:

Unfortunately, I've heard that it is not possible to revert to anything prior to 4.3 once a phone comes factory installed with 4.3, due to all of the security enhancements and etc. My kernel, modem, and baseband are all factory stock 4.3 MJB. Everyone else on the boards, under various other topics, warn of immediate and sudden death to the phone if you attempt to install a baseband prior to 4.3 MJB.
I'm very surprised to hear that, because recently i've flash stock 4.3 rom and then go back to 4.1.2 to flash a 4.4 rom without any issue and i've got nothing for issues.
Maybe it depends on which country you are ( i'm from France ) ? For what i know , there is a VERY little chance that this downgrade cause dammage to your phone
