Factory test mode and unknown CSC - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Hard bricked my phone. Josh at Mobile Tech Videos got me back, but not all the way.
Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770341&highlight=bork
When I boot into factory recovery mode, beneath the selectable options it lists,
"# MANUAL MODE #
--Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : unknown
Successfully applied multi-CSC."
(Typed exactly as written, spelling mistakes and all)
Shouldn't my CSC be VZW?
When I do *#1234# the CSC is from my stock image.
How do I get it back to what it should be?
I unrooted, went back to stock recovery.
When I boot up, I get a pop-up saying, "Unfortunately, Factory Test has stopped."
I set up a lock screen, but when I turn the screen on it never asks me for the code.
Any ideas how to undo this and get back to stock, so I can restart from a known good point?

Have you tried wiping all data/cache/dalvik and re-Odin'ing the factory stock image?

Yep, tried all that multiple times. After a Factory Data Reset, this pops up on the first reboot (it's fading out, but at the bottom of the picture, you can see it say,
"Factory Mode is on. In this mode, some functions aren't working properly. Wi-Fi is turning off now. Please change to user mode before verification."
Does anyone know how to "change it to user mode"?
Thanks!

Found the solution in this post by xliderider:

Open a terminal emulator
Type su
Then enter the following after the #
echo -n ON > /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
(yes ON is the correct setting to turn it off)
Then I had to reboot for the change to take effect. FYI, I had to go through initial setup after the reboot.
Finally! I'm back in the game!:cyclops:

Lol glad you're back in the game, but um, tell us more about that notification lol

Which notification - the pop-up or the mostly faded out notification below it?
The faded one only shows up on the first boot after a factory reset when you're in the Factory Test mode. It fades quickly and took me 8 tries/resets to get that screenshot!
The popup happens twice every reboot when in Factory Test mode...
Once I used those commands in terminal emulator, rebooted, it took care of the problem.

[Q] Screen locked.

Hello, I have a HP Touchpad 32GB running with Cyanogen Alpha3.
Yesterday i set up a locked home screen with a pin.
But if my TP locked the screen there is no field and no pattern to put in a pin?
How can I fix these problem.
I reflash alpha 3 but the problem is still there.
Thanks for help.
Have you got ADB set up for your touchpad?
No, do you have a how to do, for that ?
ADB Install help:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/06/how-to-set-up-adb-usb-drivers-for-android-devices/
How to unlock your device using ADB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971768
Then you can play with the lockscreen settings till you get the settings for CM7 right.
EDIT: The above links only allow you to unlock if you have the above problem, it won't help you fix this problem if this is a CM7 bug, but you can try.
But I am not sure is USB Debugging is on.
Or can I reset my TP to factory settings ?
If you didnt turn it off, its on by default, look for a bug in the notifications to verify it.
Reset, I'm not sure. When you reflash, it maintains the previous settings?
Side note: It is good to have ADB installed, it is mandatory for a device like TouchPad which needs developers loving
Ok, than I will try it after work,
But there is a symbol on my notification bar, look like a oval, a horizontal line and a horizontal wave line and a red 4 on the corner.

Can I make a backup with cwm, than reset to Factory.
Reboot and than restore with cwm. Or if I restore all with cwm than I have the same set up ?
With the same Problem ?
Or it is possible to restore only my apps ?
Backup apps + data using titanium backup after applying the above method. Don't back up restore with CWM cause you will still be locked out of your TouchPad like now
Now your priority is on getting into ur device to disable the lock or tweak the settings to perfection

But if my USB Debugging is off, than I have no chance with adb ?
Yup you will not be able to use.

Sudden bootloop and factory reset

Hi.
My S3 started acting all weird today. After opening a link from a Facebook post and opened up Chrome, my phone restarted itself and got stuck in a bootloop. I took the battery off and inserted it back and the phone got stuck in the same kind of bootloop. It restarted about 3-5 times and then it booted to Android and opened up a welcome screen (the same which appears after a factory reset), asking Google and Samsung account credentials. I skipped this and at a first glance it seemed my device was factory reset. All the apps and settings were gone and interestingly, storage info says this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There's definitely something in storage but not showing up.
Another strange thing: On device bootup, the bootup sound is gone missing.
Kernel message log tells "Sound file not found, Shutdown sound will not be start!". I tried to inspect last_kmsg and logcat to find out why it did fall into bootloop but I could figure out nothing.
My last_kmsg can be seen here: View attachment last_kmsg.txt
Device: Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 international, Stock firmware and not rooted.
Android version: 4.1.1
Baseband: I9300XXDLID
Kernel: 3.0.31-319653 [email protected]EP-67 #1
Build: JRO03c.I9300XXDLJ2
A notable thing:
I had an app called TelStop installed. It registers on the tel:// handler in order to prevent exploiting the dialer, so I think my phone was not factory reset via dialer exploit. I consider the link I opened from Facebook post as legit, as it was a pointing to Google's chromeexperiments.com site.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Thank you for your time.
You have corrupt firmware . Backup data and factory reset as first option .
jje
Thanks for your reply. The further I looked into the problem, I too started to suspect that firmware's corrupt. My phone couldn't boot up anymore so I played it safe and sent my phone to get fixed before trying anything regrettable (flashing and failing).

HTC One X - Always opens up bootloader - Powerbutton doesn't select

So I've been researching this all day.. A friend gave me his phone and asked me to fix it. I charged it, and tried to boot it up, but all I'm seeing is the bootloader. I've tried to enter Fastboot, Recovery mode and Factory Reset, but all it does when I try to select an option with the power-button is go to the "next item". Pressing the volume up button also takes it to the "next item". Pressing the volume down button does nothing, which is weird, because that's the button that's supposed to go to the "next item".
Now, I've tried installing HTC sync manager on my computer in the hopes of maybe being able to do something, but whenever I try to install it, it gives me this error (sorry for the Swedish, it's just saying that an error occured during the installation of something, device component? That last word might be translated wrong):
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is what the bootloader looks like:
I've tried a few ADB commands, to no avail. Running
Code:
adb devices
returns an empty list. The same thing applies to
Code:
fastboot devices
Trying to run any other fastboot command just says "< waiting for device >"
I'm not able to boot up the Android OS, or anything else for that matter. Trying to turn the phone off boots it up into the bootloader again, forcing me to leave it plugged in so that it doesn't run out of battery.
The drivers appear to be installed just fine on my computer, even though I can't seem to install HTC Sync Manager:
I'm running out of ideas, and I'm not sure what to Google for anymore. I'm not sure what's been previously done to this phone. Is it possible to just, completely reset it through a computer, using a USB cable, even though I'm having difficulties doing the things mentioned above? If yes, how? What to Google for?
Thanks,
/Nanashi

Huawei Ascencion Y520 '' Unfortunately, the application stopped '' and Cant FactoryR

Hello. :laugh:
I need help to solve the problems that have a device that gave my girlfriend.
Model: Huawei Asencion Y520-u33
The phone lights up perfectly.
The problem is after starting and unlocking it, the typical problem of '' Unfortunately, the application stopped ''
The most common applications to stop without doing something are:
-Google services
-Google play store
When trying to clear cache or application data it will not let me. I give it to it and it remains the same as it was. Then I try to uninstall applications and when I start the uninstallation I get: "Settings, keychain, contacts, etc" have been stopped and finally when I try to uninstall them by holding them in the main screen and give it to uninstall: "'launcher3' has stopped ' :crying:
It will not let me enter the settings until I restart.
Restart the phone and I go to the section where I get the option to restore factory (I really do not want to recover any data on this phone) :crying:
I choose what I want to restore from the factory and it turns out that the phone sends me to the recovery (and I do not have problems with this because I manage well with the phones and computers, I have some knowledge)
Here's the other problem, in the recovery I'm supposed to go up and down with the volume keys, Right! but to select the button to turn on.
... ... ...
For some reason when I press turn on to accept it does not do anything it is as if it does not work, but the button works correctly. (When the phone is on as if it were to be used in a common way) then I can not reset the factory either.
Try some things with the '' fastboot '' but it did not detect me sometimes to the phone, I mean, if I have the drivers for mtk phones but when I activate the USB debugging in settings, when restarting the programmer functions are disabled and I suppose then that when I activate them and turn off the phone to enter the fastboot it is already deactivated.
Try using the flash sp to install a recovery exactly the twrp, I could not install it, also try the cwm, either. When trying to install with the sp I loaded the scatter and the recovery later. when pressing "discharge" the bar would turn yellow until it loaded. at the end he said '' you can not do just the download '' or something like that.
I would really like to repair the phone and if in addition to removing the problem that I think is the '' rom '' could also tell me (if the problem was solved) that rom could put.

Question Soft rebooting

My unlocked s23 ultra on Verizon keeps doing what I call a 'soft reboot'. What I mean by this, is all connections drop (Bluetooth, wiif, calls, etc.) all notifications are removed, and I have to unlock my phone as if it was just rebooted or turned on (pin required). It takes only 10ish seconds, so it is not a hard reboot, and my adb settings stay turned on (used for Tasker). Are there logs I cam review (Tasker's shows nothing) or some tool to track what is causing this?
i think every 72 hours you have to enter your pin again for security reasons, if it gets stolen or something.
If thats the case its not a soft reboot it just requires you to enter your pin again.

Thank you, but what I am experiencing clears all open apps, closes all open radios (phone, Bluetooth, wifi, etc), clears all notifications, stops any of my running widgets (like a weather notification and a traffic analyzer) and the password screen indicates I have to enter my password at boot up (or something similar, I can try and get a picture)
Is "Restart when needed" option activated in Device care -> Auto optimisation?
Try in safe mode. If it doesn't happen then there's an app causing the issue. If it happens contact Samsung support
